I'm ashamed of myself. I can't believe I haven't reviewed the establishment that provides me lunchy nourishment at least 2 days a week! What is wrong with me?!?!? The one positive to belated review is that I have tried quite a bit and can give a VERY thorough review. Leggo! The highlights: soup/sammy combo is my absolute fav from here! Cup of soup and 1/2 of any sammy on the menu! or...you can get the salad/soup...but salad is LAME. So, I won't waste my time on discussing it. They have chili everyday...LOVE. Its really good! And then they usually feature 2 additional soup of the day options. My favorites are their minestrone, Italian wedding, broccoli cheddar, they have a creamy mushroom sometimes. My all time fav is the chili though. Sammy highlights include TBA, their turkey cranberry sandwich is amazing, buffalo chicken, turkey with green chili's...honestly all their sandwiches are really good. I've never been disappointed with any sandwich from here. I think the salads are overpriced and not that great to be honest. They deliver to the local businesses in the area and this deli is totally mom and pop. The family that owns it is so cute and sweet :) In La Jolla, you can't beat the price! read more

So I went for a cold sandwich. The TBA to be exact. Turkey, bacon, avocado, sprouts, onions on sourdough with a little mayo and mustard. MMmm, divine. I saw one of their flyers sitting on a bench outside my dentist's office and went to find them in a short walk around the corner. I just had a simple half egg salad sammie with a cup of split pea soup. Sammie was good, soup was just ok. Had to go soft as I just had a crown glued in, and this fit the bill. And that bill was around $7.50. I think it is a great alternative for something fast and unusually inexpensive in this ritzy area of La Jolla. Deli-icious offers quick and friendly service, catering, and free delivery to neighboring businesses. It's slightly hidden, so be on the lookout for it! When I worked in downtown LJ, I would stop by this place at least once a week. My favorite was the Chicken Cordon Bleu burrito. It's a tender piece of breaded chicken fillet wrapped in a tortilla with ham, onions, tomatoes, Swiss cheese, and special dressing (I'm guessing it's a ranch cream cheese?). For a few dollars more, you can try the Chicken Cordon Bleu French roll sandwich or The Prospect- "Extra Slices of American and sharp cheddar cheese melted over a 1/4lb. of steaming hot roast beef and ham with a sprinkle of Tabasco sauce topped with lettuce, tomatoes and onions on toasted sourdough". read more

They know you by name, they are somewhat hidden, the owners are the folks behind the counter, and they are open for breakfast (including espresso drinks). Plus they deliver. I've had a bunch of different sandwiches here, none of which were very good. I work very close to this spot and they have a monopoly in the small area for quick deli food unfortunately. If I go here I usually just get a Cobb Salad, which is pretty decent. But a few of my coworkers have gotten sick from the food specifically the items that have lots of mayo. I've ordered from here numerous times and it was mediocre at best, poor in most instances. The only reason I've had it more than once is because it was down the street from where I worked and the delivery service is convenient. I found the food to be of school cafeteria standards. The ingredients are of inferior quality, everything is slathered in mayo (you can have them leave it out but then your meal will be very dry/chalky), and most items on the menu are greasy. All of this in account, a lunch there doesn't come cheap. If you're in the mood for greasy mac and cheese or a wilted chef salad, this is the place. read more

And here's why: It's down a quaint little path just off Prospect. Cozy, sunny, tasty, great selection on the menu, and probably one of the more affordable lunch options in the area. 2 of us had the bacon/apple panini, one had the buffalo chicken panini, and a grilled cheese for the kiddo. I didn't see any kid options listed on the menu but when I asked the girl at the counter said they could make half of any of the sandwiches on the menu, or even PB&J. We just visited this deli while exploring La Jolla. It was awesome. My friend has a dairy allergy and often gets frustrated with local restaurants because of their lack of info/understanding involving food allergies, but these people completely understood and were super helpful in listing all of the ingredients in their foods. I got a Tuna sandwich and it was delicious. My friend got a mediterranian chicken wheat wrap and loved it as well. I started looking for a place to eat after an appointment with a client and of course I asked Yelp for a recommendation. This is a great little deli that is tucked away in a little plaza. It is slightly hard to find but just look for the Boars Head awning. Simplistic,(in a good way) fast and friendly. The proprietors know how to treat people and I respect any business that remembers that customer service goes a long way. They got really busy while I was there and handled it all well. Deli-icious is a great spot for a sandwich, salad or wrap in the La Jolla Village. I go here during lunch while I'm working next door and not only are the sandwiches good (I love their veggie options and it seems like there is always something new to try) the service is excellent and the owners will go out of their way to make your lunch however you would like. There is delivery within the village as well which is a great thing if you are having a busy day. I use them for business lunches too when our clients or potential clients come to the office. LOVE this local mom & pop deli! They serve all Boar's Head meats and cheeses, and you can grab a quick and delicious sandwich, wrap, soup, and/or salad for a good price. You can eat in the patio area of the International Shops-where they are located (admittedly a little challenging to find, at first), or take it with you down to the coast to enjoy a beautiful view of La Jolla and the Pacific Ocean. I often get them to deliver to my office in La Jolla Village, and they take cash and/or credit/debit cards for your convenience. They also have chips, bakery items, and sodas to add to your order. The sandwiches here were really good, but it was so incredibly hot inside the store. I felt sorry for the employees and any customer who wanted to sit down inside. There were a couple of seats on the outside too, but one was in the sun, and one with umbrella shade was taken by a family, so we ended up getting our food to go.
