    Spirit Rolls and Golden Soup

Absolutely fantastic! It was the first time for my vegan friend and me, and we thoroughly enjoyed the food, drinks and atmosphere inside and out! I had two Lekker Bites -- the Spirit Rolls and the Golden Soup. Both were absolutely delicious and more than I could eat, so I took home leftovers. The menu, including desserts, is extensive so there's something for everyone. The bright, joyful artwork and powerful A/C inside were perfect, and we really enjoyed the live music on the outdoor patio when it cooled down. I agree with the team -- this is Charlotte's best patio! youtube.com/watch?v=-ZLeqUR20fA&time_continue=2&source_ve_path=NzY3NTg&embeds_referring_euri=https%3A%2F%2Fohmysoulusa.com%2F

I saw this spot in my map when I looked up vegan spots and it looked good. Im not usually the type to eat vegan food but Im on a diet and this place ended up being really good. My friend got a black bean burger she wasn't too happy with but a lot of their food looked really good. I loved what I got and they had a bunch of deserts that definitely tempted my sweet tooth. When im off this diet you best believ Im going back to try the tres leche pancakes ooohweee!

I'm allergic to eggs so fining a good brunch is hard. Traveling out of town to Charlotte, I found Oh My Soul on yelp. It is a vegan South African restaurant and just my luck, they had breakfast that day. I chose the Big Bro which was a giant plate with different goodies around it. Baked beans for breakfast? Why not! Vegan sausage that tastes better than regular sausage... yea that was gone first. Next time I'll ask for double the "feggs" but I had so much left over I used the rest of the mixture and more "feggs" and had another full breakfast. The owners were extremely nice and generous. Also get the peri-peri sauce if you're a spicy sauce lover!

This place is a little on the small side but it really filled up quickly. My daughter enjoyed the cauliflower bites. The dining room was filled with families with older kids and little ones. Really enjoyed the atmosphere.

As someone who's usually hesitant about vegan food, Oh My Soul completely changed my mind. This place has the best vegan food I've ever had. Everything I've tried has been SO full of flavor and delicious. My go to is "The Gatsby" - their signature dish and it never disappoints. The staff is always friendly, and the service is pretty quick. The South African-inspired menu is so unique, and the whole vibe here is amazing. The patio is adorable and they always have some type of live music. I always bring anyone visiting me in Charlotte here, and it never disappoints!

It's been a while since I checked out Oh My Soul, so this was a really nice return. I met up with my coworker for a lunch meeting and we had a good time! We got there right when they opened on a weekday so we were literally the only customers there. It was hot so we sat inside and enjoyed. I love a place where you order first then they bring the food out. It just such an easier, seamless dining experience. I believe it's better for guests and staff. I ordered the mother bowl, I believe is the name. It was so light and delicious!!! I had enough to take home and finished it later that day. It's a good portion size. I also tried a Lenny Boy kombucha and LOVED it. They can do no wrong though lol. I also got the lava cake dessert and that was pretty good too. I wasn't able to eat it all, but it was tasty.

Pleasantly surprised by this place! This is a vegan restaurant, and truthfully, that's not much of a pull for me. I eat most things, so I generally don't go out of my way to avoid anything. We stopped in after wandering around a pottery sale next door. I had a coffee and tasted my friends meals, and everything was delicious! Doesn't taste like you're just eating grass (my main concern, so silly!) and much of it is made to taste like regular dishes. Coffee was also great, and they have a full bar! The house is older, and there is some seating in the back. Additionally, there's outdoor space, and a little area for a band to set up. It was a nice day, and so most people were out back. Dog friendly, some kids running around. This place is nothing fancy and very welcoming. Staff were very friendly, with very nice accents as well. Parking is a bit of a challenge, though you're just a nice walk away from the light rail. I'd definitely stop back in!

Place is run by a group of folks from South Africa and they were the nicest people to chat with. Went there and got the cauliflower "wings" and their spring rolls. Absolutly delicious. We also got some mixed drinks which were all fantastic. They have a great outdoor space and a stage for live music- we didn't get to experience the music but apparently it's quite the event. We'll be back in the summer.

Food is delicious and it doesn't even taste vegan. I love spicy foods and this place had a good variety of spicy and non spicy foods. We had a table of 6. Order at counter and go sit outside. Outside seating was perfect for the warm summer night. Bring food to the table. Outside bar. Mixed drinks starting at $15. If your kids aren't vegetarian/vegan, they may not like this spot and it's too pricy ($20/meal) to have kids wasting this good food. Great date night. They brought out a slice of cake for the birthday girl. My only complaint is that onions rings were too crispy.

OMG - vegan food paradise! What a wonderful place for breakfast, lunch or dinner! We had dinner here, delicious food, and came back for breakfast which didn't disappoint. Soooo delicious!! The owners are very friendly, they are from South Africa and brought vegan South African dishes and flavors to Charlotte. You order at the counter from a menu that offers quite some options. The food and drinks are then served to your table. We didn't sit outside as it was too cold but there is a large patio. Inside it's cozy and decorated with a lot of interesting information on animals and how humans interact with them.

The backyard at this spot is fab for hanging out. The food is good but note the portions are massive. Consider sharing or to go boxes. They seem busy so keep that in mind for the amount of time you allot for ordering and waiting here.

My favorite vegan restaurant in charlotte! I've literally had the entire menu. Anything w the house made sausage go for it or sub it to whatever you order. Very large portions and bar none service, I have genuine love for this establishment from the owners Rich & T down to the employees all around great place. Indoor and outdoor seating. Must try vegan or not!!

    Manuel S.

Lots of seating, both indoor and outdoor definitely putting off hipster vibes. The creativity of the art outside the venue correlates to the menu. Lots of great choices, including some custom drinks and teas and generous portions. Richard and the friendly staff explained the menu items and answered our questions. The cauliflower wings have the light breading and the perfect crunch, the sauce that comes with it and the ranch dip.It was really amazing. The crunch wrap had perfectly crisp textured on the outside, lots of guacamole and fresh veggies on the inside accented, with the sweet potato fries and a peach tea hibiscus drink.$$$

Ask the Community - Oh My Soul

What kind of oil is used in the fryer?

Is the seating area wheelchair accessible?

Not the back area. It's deep loose gravel. The front porch is, however.

Is their any inside dining option? If outside only is there any portable heating provided?

There is only outside sitting available in a huge tent but they have heating lamps all over it so it's pretty warm

Are dogs allowed on the outside patio?

well behaved doggies are generally preferred over children ;-)

Do they require or take reservations? If not, are there long wait times for dinner on the weekends?

I know they don't require reservations but I'm not sure whether they even take them. I've eaten at OMS about 15 times over the past few months. Love it but never thought to make reservations.

Does anyone know if the burgers and other proteins options are soy free?

Yes! They have black bean and seitan based patties(protein), not just soy based.

I had recently tried this drink at another Haraz location and loved it so much that I officially considered myself a matcha drinker. When I received my drink, I noticed it looked much pinker than it had at the other locations I'd visited. I assumed it had just been mixed and that the usual layers of matcha, strawberry, and whipped cloud had blended together, so I didn't think much of it. However, after taking my first sip in the car, it immediately tasted like strawberry milk. Since I was on my way to work, I kept drinking it, expecting the matcha flavor to come through, but it never did. It was disappointing because the drink was nothing like the one I've had several times at other Haraz locations. I hope this location places an emphasis on training and consistency so the drinks meet the same standard as the rest of the Haraz locations. On a positive note, the staff members were kind, welcoming, and greeted me as soon as I walked in.

One that has stuck with me for years was a rosemary roasted potato pizza I discovered in a little hole-in-the-wall spot in Winnemucca, Nevada. When I saw a similar option on the menu here, I had to give it a try. I ordered the Liberation pizza and added Italian sausage, along with a side of wings and blue cheese. I was also curious about the Mexican street corn but requested it on the side so it wouldn't get soggy during the ride home. The timing was accurate--they quoted about 20 minutes--but parking in this area of North Davidson can be a bit challenging, especially during busy hours. It's a lively, high-traffic intersection, so plan accordingly if you're picking up. Here's where things got a little bumpy. When I got home, I realized the pizzas in the box were not mine. I called the restaurant, and to their credit, they immediately apologized and offered to remake the order right away. That kind of responsiveness goes a long way, and I appreciated their willingness to make it right without hesitation. I drove back to pick up the corrected order, and the staff again apologized and had everything ready. Unfortunately, when I got home the second time, the wings were there--but the blue cheese was missing. At that point, it was late, and I decided to just call it a night. Lesson learned on my end: always take a moment to check the order before leaving. Rookie mistake. Now for the food itself: * Pizza: Delicious overall, with great flavor and quality ingredients. I personally prefer a thinner crust, but the taste was solid. The truffle oil was a bit heavy for my palate and slightly overpowered the other flavors. I also would have preferred the sausage to be crumbled rather than in larger chunks for more even distribution. * Wings: Very good--crispy, well-seasoned, and satisfying. They just really needed that blue cheese to complete the experience. Despite the hiccups, the team handled the situation professionally, and the food quality is clearly there. This is a popular neighborhood spot with creative menu options, and I'd absolutely give them another try. Helpful tip for future customers: Parking can be tight, and takeout orders can get busy--so double-check your order before you leave. It'll save you a second trip. Overall, a lively local place with strong flavors, good recovery on service, and a menu that's worth exploring.
