I asked the man to wait outside for me and she has the audacity to say "DON'T FEED THE PIGEONS" I told her shame on her, he is a human! I also advised her, don't tell me how to spend my hard earned $$!! I refused to spend my money at this ill-compassionate, jaded, business owner!! Her issues with messy and unsanitary store fronts are an issue between her and the city. NIMBYISM was clearly present here and broke my heart for this individual who she deemed unworthy of human worth! If I owed this shop, I would work with homeless around the area, pay in food for exchange of duties, or ask street teams to come, or, etc. SO many options worth seeking. Happy to say that this place lives up to the Yelp hype. I spent a fair amount of time searching for "the best" donut place to try during my limited time in Portland. DD was at the top of many lists, and for good reason. Inconspicuously located in a small strip mall, it doesn't seem like much from the outside. Inside the aroma was heavenly, and you could tell everything was super fresh . Donuts that I tried are ranked below, see pic for the looks (though it really doesn't do it any justice). Bottom line: come here, get the apple fritter, you won't be disappointed! 1. Apple fritter - 5/5 (doesn't look like much from the outside, but boy have they nailed the consistency and flavor, not too sweet, not too dense, just perfect. If you get nothing else, get this! Another level!) 2. Chocolate cake w/ sprinkles - 4/5 (pretty difficult to mess this one up, but what was special here is the freshness of the dough, light, airy, and delicious) 3. Maple log - 4/5 (as above, difficult to mess up. The star here is the fresh dough and correct ratio of fresh maple glaze to dough) 4. Blueberry cake - 3/5 (maybe I'm just not a huge blueberry fan, though the dough was fresh and tasty) 5. Boston cream - 3/5 (I'm originally from the northeast, so I understand good Boston cream donuts. This was not "bad," it was just nothing to write home about. As with the others, extremely fresh). 6. Not much open in this part of Portland at 6 am but thankfully this donut shop was! A local recommended this place and I'm so glad I gave it a try! They have a nice menu of breakfast sandwiches and burritos in addition to an amazing selection of donuts. I had an omelet with bacon, cheese, peppers and hash browns. It was fantastic. While eating I heard a customer raving about the blueberry cake donuts so on my way out I ordered some blueberry cake and butter milk donuts to go. The blueberry might be one of the best cake donuts I've ever had. The most impressive thing about this place was the friendly service from the husband and wife owners. After 4 years of searching and sampling, I've finally found what I consider the best donuts in Portland. While the big names in donuts in Portland have an air of pretension about them, the vibe here is so humble. The owner herself was there to greet me and take my order. The decorations are pictures of her kids, who also have menu items named after them. I watched as she greeted each customer and - even though she was busy with closing for the day - took the time to show them the menu and make recommendations. Then she would politely excuse herself to return to her task while the customer decided. Decisions decisions! So many awesome donuts. I love that they don't charge a crazy amount, and the donuts are still fresh. I came in right as they were closing and the donuts still tasted new. The vegan plain and cinnamon cakes were surprisingly fluffy and airy. The chocolate buttermilk bar had just the right amount of richness. The "French 5.0", French Toast made with a glazed donut was simply magical. I thought it would be ridiculously sweet or an odd combo, but eggs and cinnamon sugar on a glazed donut is amazing. No gimmicks, no crazy prices, no arrogance - a really friendly donut shop. One of the rare donut shops that makes novelty donuts (try the donut lasagna), but doesn't sacrifice technique or flavor.

A craving for donuts hit me hard this week, after having not gone out to eat and been eating my own "baked goods" for the past 4 months. I knew I was putting myself at risk to venture out for the donuts here but I was willing to do it after seeing so many positive reviews and their Ube and Pandan filled donuts! I ended up getting 6 donuts to try cause I wasn't going to trek here for just 1-2 donuts. 1) The Apple Fritter here is MASSIVE. It was equivalent to at least 2 regular donuts. But it was super crispy throughout with the creamy glaze. I love the texture of the batter used here. It's a delight when you hit a jammy apple spot! Although the fritter was delicious, I'd reccommend you share it with someone or multiple people. Its size is no joke and I had to finish it in 3 sittings. 2) The Ube filled also rank highly with the Apple Fritter for me. I haven't had anything like it before. The slightly earthy and creamy taste of the ube balances out the sweetness of the glaze very well. 3) The Cinnamon Crumb Cake was unassumingly yummy! I didn't know what to expect but the slight addition of cinnamon and crumbs added something fun to a plain cake donut. It also wasn't overwhelmingly sweet like some of the other "special" donuts so you can happily enjoy the whole thing. 4) The Old-fashioned Vanilla Coconut donut was another one that I've never had before. First bite was great but the thick vanilla frosting got to be a lot quickly. I like the flavor of the old-fashion donut though so maybe just a regular one with no frosting might have been a better choice here. 5) I was equally excited about the Pandan filled as I was with the Ube but this one fell a little short for me. The Pandan glaze was nice, although the pandan flavor can be intensified. On the other hand, the mung bean filling can be toned down a bit more. It's unique flavor took me by surprised and left a rather bitter after taste. 6) Last, and unfortunately my least favorite out of the batch, was the Chocolate Peanut. First bite was nice but it became really bland and boring after. Neither the peanuts nor the chocolate came through very strongly. It was really nice to treat myself with these donuts. The service was fast and they have a great setup going. I would have given them 4 stars if it wasn't for the hair that I found in my box of donuts. read more

Had the BEST experience with them! I was searching all over Portland for a donut shop that makes letter donuts AND allows for third-party delivery and after days of searching finally found them. I texted my request to their number and the owner instantly got back to me. She was so kind and it didn't feel like a rushed business call which I really appreciated. When I told her that third-party delivery services didn't deliver to the address I had (it was too far from their store) she helped me tremendously by finding a solution. Not to mention, I had put in a request around 3pm on Thursday and they had my order ready before 8am on Friday and the person who received them said the donuts really were delicious! Stopped in today for one treasured donut after a week of getting back in the gym saddle. I saw a bunch of fruit glazed ones on top and asked what they were. Hibiscus, blueberry, raspberry, lemon cheesecake and ~CBD BLUEBERRY CHEESECAKE~. The CBD was half of a honey straw stuck in the donut like Blue Star's Brulee Cointreau ampule. I got that one. While it was $6 (HIGHWAY ROBBERY) I do add CBD to coffee sometimes for $3 so I guess a $3 donut is alright. However the $3 CBD add in is usually more than 10mg and I haven't seen a honey straw of more than 10mg and this was half of a straw. I asked but the worker didn't know the mg so maybe it's 50! I squeeze some of the CBD into the filling the. drizzled the rest on top. It was heaven. I don't know why I don't go here more. They take cards and there is a small parking lot on site.
