It was a delight working with Lisa! She is very responsive and her creation are wonderful. I sent her a pic of the cake I wanted for my friends baby shower and she promptly reply with some adjustments to fit my budget. The cake was amazing and got so many compliments! Thanks Lisa for making the best cake I have never seen for a baby shower! I would definitely recommend you to all my friends for special cake!

I asked Lisa to design a hedgehog cake for my sister's virtual baby shower. I'm in NY and my sister is in San Francisco. Everything went off without a hitch, and just look at that cute hedgehog!! My sister and her husband loved the cake and said it was delicious and communicating with Lisa was easy peesy. Highly recommend!! Thanks Lisa!

Chocolate cake with peanut butter inside.

I was definitely delighted by Lisa's Bakery! This was my first time getting a cake from her and she was extremely professional. I just required a simple birthday cake for my friend and she was able to get it ready for me in a day. I asked for a simple chocolate cake with layers of peanut butter within. The cake was not overly rich and it was perfectly moist. The design was extremely pretty as well. She even went the extra mile and labeled peanut butter on the box in case someone had allergies. I will definitely be coming back to her. Delicious cakes with great service to back it up.

If you need a cake for a special occasion or coffee / pastries for a cozy morning you can't go wrong here. For Mother's Day I preordered their Celebration Vanilla Buttercream Cake with Black Lockett Floral. I've ordered bday and holiday cakes before so I had high expectations, but this cake was gorgeous! A show stopper fit for the amazing moms in our lives. The devils food base was moist and rich and paired perfectly with the salted vanilla buttercream. My family compared it to an upscale Oreo hehe... It also made my mom feel so special which is all you can ask for. 10/10! If you're preordering there is no special express line, and the shop can be busy, so keep that in mind if you're in a rush. I usually end up grabbing more pastries and a coffee while in line so it's win-win for me. The shop also has a small selection of cute merch, cards, sprinkles and other assorted gift items handy for picking up on your way to a party. Definitely one of my favorite bakeries, especially when I'm looking for a crowd pleasing cake. Highly recommend repeat visits as their menu is constantly rotating with the seasons. Can't wait for my next visit!

Curious to see what new items they add to the menu and how their pies are next time!

The chocolate dulce de leche one I initially tried was divine, but not available when I went in the afternoon a week later, so I settled on the lemon one, not bad. I had an extremely disappointing experience with Cake Coquette. I sent a clear reference photo of…read morethe star-shaped cake my daughter wanted, and we specifically discussed the decorative edible gems. She confirmed that she could use edible gems that would look like real jewelry. Despite that conversation, she apparently made no effort to obtain them. Instead, the cake was covered with large, dull, unattractive pieces that looked like stones picked up from the ground and stuck onto the cake. They looked nothing like sparkling gems. The cake was completely different from the elegant and delicate design we had agreed upon. The decoration was extremely crude and showed a complete lack of refinement, attention to detail, and professional skill. When I arrived and questioned why she had not used the edible gems we had discussed, she offered to start calling around to see where she could find them. By then, I had already driven from Oakland to San Francisco, the cake was completed, and I was on my way to my daughter's birthday. That offer was obviously far too late. Edible gems made specifically for cakes were readily available to order online, and obtaining them should have been handled before the cake was made--not when the customer arrived for pickup. The pickup location was also extremely difficult to find and appeared to operate from an industrial warehouse rather than a clearly marked bakery. The entire experience felt careless and unprofessional. A custom birthday cake requires trust. If a bakery accepts a specific design and confirms that it can provide an important decorative element, it has a responsibility to prepare properly and deliver what was agreed upon. If that is not possible, the customer must be told in advance. Her lack of preparation, responsibility, and attention to detail caused enormous stress and disappointment and negatively affected my daughter's birthday celebration. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Cake Coquette for detailed custom cakes.

Brownies are a definite must here. Brownies: These are exactly how brownies should be. Rich and gooey on the bottom with a light crust on top. Came in a package of four, but I could only eat one in a given sitting since they're so filling. Not fancy schmancy or anything, just a classic done very well. Oreo Mini Cake: A long oval of cake that feels like more cake than a cupcake and you can eat it with a fork. The Oreo taste was rather subtle with a few bits mixed into the yellow cake, so it was hard to notice. The frosting had more bits and kinda reminded me of cookies & cream ice cream. A fun way to say you ate a whole cake by yourself! Cake Pop: Looked like a mini ice cream cone. Tasted just ok though, with cake underneath the chocolate shell tasting more pasty than cakey. I'd recommend the mini cake instead. Red Velvet Mini Cake: Seeing how Red Velvet is one of my favorite cakes, it was hard to pass on this on. Definitely did not disappoint with the rich red cake base and the creamy thick frosting. I like the mini cake design since it's a lot more portable than a cake slice. Carrot Cake Jar: Ok, if you like frosting then this is for you! It looks like one of those healthy jar salads, until you get a closer look to see that the layers are just cake chunks of frosting. Much better in my opinion. And the frosting layers seem a lot more generous than on a normal cake, so get ready for that. Lemon Bars: Huge curd-to-crust ratio, just the way I like it. So much so that it might fall apart in your hands, so better to eat with a fork. Strong lemony taste without getting that curd funk aroma that sometimes happens, so really well executed.

Banana loaf slice: this was a generous slice that was moist and tasty, but it really missed with the overall flavor profile of banana. Almond croissant: a properly made croissant should be late and buttery and the almond croissant just wasn't. It tasted more like a dinner roll than it did a croissant. There was barely any almond flavor in it, and I would take a pass on this next time. The seasonal Cherry tomato pastry: go now! You want to try this while they are making it. This savory pastry is such a perfect breakfast/brunch pastry. The flavor profile is absolutely phenomenal, and it is mouth watering and delicious. I was fortunate to land one of the limited seats inside the bakery, although, there was also plenty of bench space in the parklet outside. The pizza crust was thin and crispy - with just the right amount of chew - and tasted slightly of sourdough. Topping-wise, the mushrooms were abundant but not overpowering; however, I wish there had been other vegetables to balance out the flavor. Paying less than $5 for a generously-sized slice (adorned with a mini slice on top) felt like a bargain, especially in SF.
