Stopped into Arizmendi for a quick coffee and pastry and quickly understood the hype. The bakery is packed with breads, pastries, muffins, and scones, and browsing the cases feels a bit like a treasure hunt with so many great options to choose from. I went with a blueberry scone and an Americano. The scone was fresh and loaded with blueberries, and the coffee was smooth and well-made. There are a few seats inside if you want to enjoy your order there, but this is more of a grab and go spot. Looking forward to coming back and trying more.

If I'm ever in the mission I'm always going to arizmendi. The carrot cake and blueberry muffin were calling my name. Carrot cake is always my go to tbh! But they were both delicious. The chocolate chip cookie...I mean you can't really go wrong!! I would've got more but summer ready is calling! I'll def be back!

My haul today include a daily fruit scone which was raspberry blueberry and lemon. I got a slice of pizza which was mozzarella tomato and salsa verde. it's got a nice kick to it ! brought the scone home and put some butter on it. so good!!! came in around 11 right before a big line formed.

I LOVE the pastries here! My all time favorite would be an oat scone for how savory, crunchy, filling and earthy it is. Cheese focaccia bread was okay, not a standout to me. Spinach feta croissant was acceptable. The place is more like grab and go with some indoor seating and outside benches. Always busy on weekends. BRING CASH or they charge a 2% fee on credit cards. Coffee is mid.

What a fabulous place that is now on my must visit list when I am in San Francisco! This is a superb bakery with a big heart. It is a worker-owned co-op that has a big focus on community. There is a huge variety of breads, muffins, pastries, etc. to choose from (self service) along with great coffee (Mexican Mocha - ay, ay, ay! ). The wife and I shared a vegan spinach potato poblano focaccia and cinnamon pecan roll. Both were wonderful! There are not a whole lot of places to sit and eat, but it seems like most folks were just doing a grab & and go anyway (it was a Monday morning), so we were able to grab a seat pretty easy.

I looooove arizmendi and cheeseboard! Came here for a hot pizza a couple days ago and also got some cheese rolls and a loaf of sourdough. Service was quick and friendly and inside is very clean. Highly recommend stopping by whenever you can and this store is open on Mondays unlike the other locations!

I've been to both the Sunset and Mission District locations of Arizmendi Bakery. One thing I always pick up is their chocolate chip cookie--it's my favorite. The cookie costs $3.25, which is quite reasonable, especially since it's larger than most cookies at other bakeries. It's also not too sweet, which I like. A simple treat, but consistently good.

Ah, another location Arizmendi Bakery in SF. They have limited inside seating and a couple of tables outside. Similar selection of baked goods to the other location in Oakland. I haven't been to the other two locations in SF.

wow wow WOW! my bf and i were taking a walk in the city in hopes of discovering more local shops and small businesses and that's when we came across arizmdndi! the initial attraction came from the smell trailing down valencia, it was sweet with a hint of savory from the pizza. this bakery is unique because they had shortbreads from my boyfriends childhood which he had told me he only liked in mexico along with some other traditional mexican baked goods. my personal favorite was the chocolate chip cookie, it sounds basic but this cookie had hints of abuelita chocolate and even a hint of espresso. maybe i'm tripping but that thing was hitting fs! can't wait to come back :)

This SF staple is known for its freshly baked breads/pastries, its connection to the LGBT community, and its daily soups and vegetarian flatbreads (one offering per day; I refuse to call it a pizza because a pizza it is not). The line is precariously long at times, so be sure to come here during off hours (which you'll be hard pressed to find), but also be aware that they sell out of things quick. The items we got included: a red velvet cookie (really moist, but no chocolate, so it was a bit of a bummer); jalapeno cheddar pumpkin seed breadsticks (good, but I would have wanted more cheese flavours); the daily flatbread (completely fine, but because it didn't have any sauce, it was a bit dry for my liking); the daily soups (ginger carrot today; good flavours, but super viscous and gloopy - it was good to dip the daily flatbread into). Overall, a fine smattering of offerings, it just left me feeling like Shania Twain - Arizmendi don't impress me much.

We stopped into Arizmendi Bakery on a Sunday morning and there was a line out the door. I was only planning to grab coffee but once I got inside, I couldn't resist the incredible selection of baked goods. I chose the Apple Fig Scone, which had the absolute perfect texture and touch of sweetness. For coffee, I got a Dirty Horchata, which was incredible. Horchata coffee drinks are often too creamy and not strong enough, but this one got it right. Service was friendly and efficient. Would happily return to try more items!

This is very popular place in locals. They have casual self service setting. They usually have Pizza of the day concept. We got basic pizza - homemade tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella and basil. I always love this type of pizza so it worked for us. You must try green salsa with your pizza . It is garlic cilantro based salsa which gives spicy kick to your pizzas. Pizza is bit too oily for my taste. But overall a must try. There was a long line so obviously very popular pizza !

The ambiance felt like home. A large open space with pastries lining the wall as you walk in. Self service with to-go bags and fresh items. The cashier was efficient with the line & the product was very unique. I got a bread with eggs, spinach and mozzarella. I walk by this place all the time and the vibes in the outside seating area are top notch. The rotating pizza menu is something to look forward to and seems like a hit. I also got a mocha with almond milk that was so good. A little on the sweet side but ultimately a comfort drink perfect for the cold front in the city.

I love this worker's coop and am so happy they've expanded and remained a coop. Where's the original location? Is it the Cheese Board in Berkeley? Or is that a completely different/separate cooperative bakery?

If you look on the Arizmendi website (arizmendibakery.com) they have an "about us" section that details the whole story! Basically Cheeseboard opened first, then they opened Arizmendi in Oakland, then they opened Arizmendi in SF. And I'm assuming… Read more

Especially given that we were bringing in our own birthday cake to have and share among our friends that night. We got five different pizzas, and the four-cheese one was the fan favorite between us all. Definitely would recommend either a date night here or a night out with friends if you're in the area.

Service was generally polite but a bit sparse given how busy it was. I specifically asked whether the kids' pizzas were small personal sizes or large enough to share, and was told they were personal-sized. Unfortunately, we ended up with more food than we could realistically finish and essentially paid for a pizza that went to waste, which was frustrating. The food itself didn't quite meet expectations based on the reviews. One of our pizzas also came out slightly undercooked, but the kids were too tired for us to send it back and wait for a remake, so we just made do. Overall, the experience was just okay, especially compared to other pizza spots we tried during our trip. After visiting places like Tony's, which we loved, this one fell short for us. The restaurant was busy and had a decent energy, and others may have a better experience depending on timing. For us, though, it's not a place we'd return to.

It was my favorite for 50 years until a couple weeks ago when I ordered a delivery of Gioia. Wow. I stayed over in The City again this past weekend and had Gioia delivered again Saturday. I designed my own pizza with a Margherita Pizza base and then added pepperoni, Calabrian chilis, and anchovy on the side...well done/crispy. The roasted tomatoes are key...depth of flavor, umami-heaven. I'm a pain in the ass, so I call to make sure my pizza is made to spec. The staff, led by Kait, is unparalleled in their willingness to help. I just cannot recommend Gioia enough. I wish there were one in the 925, but Berkeley is as close to my home as a Gioia is based so far. I've not had a pie from Berkeley, but I believe Gioia is completely committed to maintaining the quality of their pizza. Nothing else comes close IMO. I know there's no zealot like a convert...but I'm not just being a fan boy. Oh yeah...the arugula-avocado salad is YUM, and the dressing for it like crack. DO not forget to check the box for utensils. I did not...California is a request the utensils state...and that's how I know how committed Gioia is to customer service: Kait, CALLED ME today after she'd heard I was frustrated. I can't imagine a customer not being thrilled with Gioia.

Everything about this slice felt fresh, high-quality, and delicious, and it didn't feel overly heavy (though I did feel the need to blot some of the olive oil off the top). JULIAN PIZZA (5/5) I got a slice of the JULIAN, with house-made sausage, kale, and lots of other good stuff. The sausage was some of the best sausage I've had on a pizza, and there was a generous amount of it. The kale seemed like it was fried (possibly naturally in the oven after all that olive oil was drizzled on top) so it added a great textural element. I would 100% come back to try some other flavors.
