I would give more stars because I like their desserts, but after today i will never order a cake from this bakery. I asked for a shadow cake with vanilla custard and strawberries, since it is a cake for my son i didnt want flowers so they offered dinosaurs which was perfect. The girl mentioned more than once to have the chocolate drip and i agreed. Today i pick up the cake and no chocolate drip. I told the owner or manager that it was suppose to have chocolate drip and he yelled and screamed like an animal. 11/12/17...A family member pre-ordered a Baptism cake only to be horrified on the day of pick up and 3 hours prior to the event. While a photo of the cake to be duplicated was provided to Delite, it appeared the cake was decorated by a blindfolded 3 year old. From the icing to the obscured alleged crucifix to the fat, sloppy letters...one disappointment after another. This was a religious event not a backyard barbecue which the cake wasn't good enough for anyway. When I called Delite to discuss the disastrous creation, I requested to speak to the owner and the girl who answered the phone told me the "owner's name is Benito" but I could not speak to him because "he's never" at the bakery. She put me on hold and a rude, disrespectful, nasty, angry, belligerent and confrontational person named Richard answered claiming to be "the manager and the owner." He was snapping and raising his voice and eventually said, "Bring it back and I'll refund your money!" When I asked his full name, he barked, "ME! RICHARD ME!" Then I asked why the girl who answered the phone told me the owner is Benito yet Richard claims ownership of Delite. He stayed quiet so I said, "Helloooo, besides your lack of customer service, your employees are liars too?" Richard answered, "Yes, yes they are." At that point, I'm looking around for hidden cameras because I'm completely dumbfounded and speechless by the outright disgusting and immature behavior of somebody who sounds like a grown man and claims to own this business, somebody who should assume responsibility for that hideous cake which created an enormous inconvenience and somebody who should offer a solution instead of childish sarcasm. Refunding the money was not a solution with the Baptism 3 hours away but Richard Me didn't seem to care. I could be wrong but I think Richard Me needs a new profession. He never offered an apology or even a lame explanation. He sounded annoyed and inconvenienced that I had the audacity to complain about the cake and that was evident in his tone and lack of customer service skills. I was surprised to learn the cake had been ordered at Delite and my immediate response was, "Delite!? Why!?" My concern was dismissed because the cake was already ordered and paid for. However, Delite was not asked to imagine what the cake should look like, a photo was provided. If it was too difficult then it should have been made clear so we could go elsewhere or be better prepared for the embarrassing slop they whipped up. About 45 minutes before we had to be in the church we went to the closest place, Riviera Bakery in Ardsley, NY. Even though we had to settle, Mia and the manager at Riviera came through and the emergency cake was 100 times better looking than the special order from Delite. I gave Delite Bakery 1 star because 0 stars is not an option; they deserve a big, fat, embarrassing, sloppy ZERO! NEVER AGAIN! Delite Bakery in Yonkers, NY is dead to us! 11/14/17...FOLLOW UP to END the DELITE BAKERY NIGHTMARE: Today, we took the cake back to Delite Bakery. Richard was at the register and one of the girls behind the counter asked if she could help. Before any words even left my mouth, Richard raised his hand and began waving it over his head as if to shoo us away. He shouted to the girl (in front of customers and the woman standing at his register) "Just give them their money back! I think it was $39." I said, "No. It was $59.90." The girl behind the counter gave me 3 twenty dollar bills. I thanked her and we left. Richard is highly skilled at displaying pure ignorance and he is 100% bankrupt of good business and customer service skills as suspected. Between Sunday morning and today, he never once apologized for the bakery's mistake. In fact, in the store and on the phone and upon returning the cake on Tuesday, Richard seemed genuinely irritated and agitated...every single time. A decent business owner would have offered a substitute cake, especially since it was for an event that same day in 3 hours and this predicament was Delite's fault. Horrible, unprofessional. I had placed an order for a birthday cake. Very simple. A chocolate cake, hazelnut mousse, pink outside, with a silver drip around. I first went in to place the order after driving all the way from tarrytown. There were two girls in the shop. The first girl told me she couldn't help me and to come back within another time period. I told her I had called and made sure that someone could've taken my order, that's the point of me coming at this time after work. Mind you, I work for a prestigious hospital and pending the outcome of this cake, we were thinking of making a grand order for a retirement event. Regardless, the second girl took my order for the cake. She was sweet and made sure to take my order. The cake details came in at 65. Pictures were taken of the cake and what u wanted it to look like, detailed wrote down and a drawing was even made. It was supposed to look like the first picture. Instead it came out ugly and horrible. After placing the order over a week and a half in advance, the day of about 3 hours before pick up- I received a call stating "what do I want the cake to look like" - uhmmmmmm, you have pictures, I told you. Then she said oh the girl that took my order wasn't in to show her. Then she said oh yea it's on the paper. This person could barely speak English. She then happened to tell me. "I don't know what happened to the cake, that THEY messed up the cake - it has too much icing". What??? She sensed the frustration in my voice and she said don't worry, she fix it and it will be perfect. I said ok. Picked up my cake to see this monstrosity. I went to pick up the cake. I scheduled it to be done at 12 so that by 5 there leaves more than enough time for it to be completed properly. This cake needed to be done for 6. I went there and this is what I received. I was horrified. The girl that helped me smartly stayed in the back. The person that could not speak English helped me. I told her that this is not what I ordered, does not look close to what I ordered. She said that she is sorry and there is nothing I can do.. and to take some rainbow cookies as a refund. ARE you Stupid! I asked to speak to a manager who happened to not be there and I was told that I have to come at 6 AM to speak to him. As he works a 6 to 2 and he is the only one who can provide my refund. I was told "you order the cake and you keep it". This is a horrifiying cake and ruined the celebration. I had to settle for a cake rushed from Cheesecake Factory. I believe that this is a racist place and this is not the last you have heard from me. It seems like the color of your skin plays a part here, because I have seen many other people come in and get treated so nice and with respect, but I just seemed to be brushed off as if my money wasn't valued the same. Of course I was nervous but once I called, asked questions and got the info I needed I was more than comfortable about ordering. The staff was patient and very very nice. I don't usually write reviews, however i had to let others know. I ordered an 18 inch 2 tier cake on Tuesday via phone call, and i sent them a photo of the exact cake i wanted. I called them back several times through out the week explaining that i wanted nutella on the top layer and vanilla on the bottom layer. When Friday came around i was disappointed to find a small 1 layer cake that looked nothing like the photo.. They also managed to put both flavors in the one layer cake so now anyone who didn't eat chocolate couldn't get a piece of whatever bit was there! When i asked them what happened they said someone else had taken the order and they were no longer there. They didn't offer any support regarding the mistake they made and frankly they seemed as though they didn't care. I had to feed 78 people .. i fed 22.. I did not get a refund .. I did not get offered any other cakes or pastries to accommodate for the people who would be unable to be fed the cake. I will never go back to that place again.. The cake was mediocre, wasted both time and money and it ruined my daughters party.. I will never go back to that place again! read more

I don't know what the former yelpers here were ranting about, but my family and I were surprised when we took a bite from the dulcet and swoon instilling pastries that this bakery bakes. You're served up by the store's rather lovely donnas who don bump-its atop their heads and cater to your services with haste. The staff, who consist of mostly ladies, will take out your moderately priced pastries based on your demand. If I would suggest for just one of many sweets they create, it should be their tiramisu, which is exceptionally grand when forked onto one's tongue. I assure you, from this day forwards, the tiramisu and other pastries within will send you into a state of bliss for a few moments and then you shall return back to sobriety wanting more of Delite's delicacies. In addition, the store's reminiscent feeling of the play "Grease" and an installed set of French windows will definitely add to one's dining experience in the bakery. I'm an average guy, but I find that this sweet making shop seemingly aimed at the gals (the store has pink tiling) in the middle of the dainty part of Yonkers is a treat for all. We came from the city to DELITE BAKE SHOP on 11-15-2015 because of the good reviews that it had. We were greeted by Richard, who has an incredible personality and very attentive not just with the neighborhood customers but with everyone. The ladies behind the counter were awesome they gave us recommendations, suggestions and even a taste test to see if we liked it. My wife and I ended up getting the most delicious croissants we have ever had and coffee. So good we ended up taking more home plus cake. Will definitely return for more.
