Always happy to try a new place, we met my friend at her family's favorite neighborhood restaurant. While the dining room is cozy, our waiter excellent, and the food okay ... I objectively think there are better Italian eateries. Eggplant parm, my choice, was fine. Not standout, but tasty and a good-sized portion. I paired it with Caesar salad, which could be improved with a zestier dressing. My husband enjoyed the restaurant's signature veal scaloppine that was topped with artichokes and peas. (We both agreed the peas should be replaced with capers.) My friend's choice was pan seared branzino. She swapped out pasta for a cauliflower carrot combo. I thought the fish portion a little skimpy for the price. Wanting to enjoy each others' company, we stayed and ordered two desserts: tartufo (good!) and cannoli chips with nutella (eh! Highway robbery @ $9!) Delizia has been in business since 1983, fronted by a popular pizza place. They have a second restaurant uptown, and clearly loyal clientele. I live in the neighborhood, and typically don't go here, but decided to grab two plain slices to go. I was really surprised how good it was. The sauce had depth and flavor to it. I added some salt, garlic powder, and crystal hot sauce to it at home. This is a good representation of a classic New York slice. The chicken roll is very good, also. read more

At a friend's party over the weekend, the host ordered a few a pies on Sunday to augment the great spread he already had out. Pizza arrived in about 30 minutes, warm and delicious. Slices were very soft and dough, and flopping around every which way when held - if you're a hold in the air / fold-over kind of person, this pizza will not suit your style. That being said, the slices hit the spot and were a welcome addition to our Superbowl party. Based on the other reviews, I guess I'd try eating there if I were to give them another try. read more

Tonight the meatball parm was like eating meatballs made out of dog food. No texture, mash meat and a burnt hero when I ask for it to be crunchy. What a total disappointment. Very dissapointed with staff . I wanted to eat in the back room when I arrived at 5:25 and was turned down because I had no reservation. I came with my mother after church . I have been coming here for over 15 years and never encounter this behavior. The attending waiter was rude and disrespectful. We could have been accommodated easily and eaten without any disruption. We were starving after a 5 hour drive, 40 minutes if which were spent standing still to get on to the George Washington Bridge. 20 minutes of searching Google and Yelp, we finally landed and agreed on Delizia 73. I must say, BEST decision!!! I ordered a small White, my fiancé ordered a Large cheese with pepperoni and onion, and an order of stuffed mushrooms. Their website estimated a 45-60 minute delivery window. The food showed up in about 30 minutes. The delivery driver was very nice and polite! The food arrived hot, as if it had literally just left the kitchen! The pizza was flavorful, and the crust was perfect! The mushrooms were delicious and large. The prices weren't outrageous, and we definitely got more food than expected! We are only supposed to be here 3 days and 2 nights. I have a feeling we will be ordering again!! read more

I took my wife to Delizia for a momentous anniversary as we used to go there all the time when we lived in NYC years ago. The staff treated us to a wonderful experience (manager Gustavo set up a beautiful table with flowers and cards, and the owner even came by to give us a gift). Ordered a bunch of different slices to go and the crust was crispy and thin, the cheese was greasy and good, and the tomato sauce was sweet and yum. I especially loved the grandma pizza....so greasy and flavorful. The veggie slice was also delectable and loaded with lots of veggies. I was not a big fan of their garlic rolls tho. It was not garlicky enough IMO and a bit on the harder side. The only thing that was super disappointing was the tilapia francese with a side of spaghetti. There's many options to choose from (sandwiches, pizza, pasta, salad, etc.) I've had a standard slice here a few times, however, I decided to splurge once and got a chicken parmigian hero. It was one of the best decions of I've made because it was delicious and satisfying. A majority of people tend to eat half and save the second half for later. I did no such thing. I live right near here and definitely my go to pizza spot when I am home. Delizia is a staple of the Upper East Side of Manhattan with two locations, one on 73rd and the other on 92nd st. I have had pizza, pasta and heroes here and so far none have disappointed me. Prices are reasonable for the area.
