    Margarita - large
    Christine N.

First Impressions: after our Christmas pre-order of artichoke basille pizza fell through... we ordered delivery from La Rustica for our Christmas potluck at work, which was surprisingly open on Christmas Day and they delivered in 20 mins from the time we submitted our order to the delivery being handed over The Noms: Margarita pizza was good. The tomato's were kinda chunked on instead of being spread out in a more uniform layer, but overall good Cheese pizza was as expected, hard to mess up a cheese pizza. I liked that the crust was as thin as the margarita Spinach Alfredo pizza with artichoke hearts - AWFUL! The spinach was in huge globs and tasted like the block of frozen spinach you can get at the market. It was the least popular pizza we ordered. We ordered it since we were unable to order the margs and artichoke pizza from artichoke basille and it did NOT taste good. BBQ wings - I expected them to be more BBQ flavor but it was very sweet... like someone mixed honey mustard and BBQ sauce together. Some people liked it but some didn't. Just sucks that there was no indication that it was a sweet tasting item (ie honey BBQ) In Conclusion: I wouldn't order from here again. Maybe just the margarita and cheese because it's the only pizzas that tasted good... but only if there was no other option. Also I tipped $20 on a $93 order and they still didn't give us any red chili pepper flakes as requested in our order. Really??

    Buffalo Chicken Calzone

I ordered delivery on DoorDash. I got a White with Spinach Slice, a buffalo Chicken Calzone, a BBQ Chicken Slice, and garlic knots. The white with spinach spice smelled weird. Like genuinely, when I smelled the slice it smelled off, didn't smell appetizing. The ricotta is ricotta, the spinach is alright. Definitely wish I had some garlic powder or red chili flakes right now. Something just feels off about the slice. I can't put my finger on it though. There's not much flavor to this slice at all almost taste like water. 4/10 never again. The garlic knots on the lower tier of garlic knots I've had. Didn't have any real kick to them whatsoever, felt dull. Felt like a school lunch garlic knot. Also I asked for extra marinara sauce kindly and they did not oblige. The BBQ chicken slice certainly had an odd presentation, I was taken aback at first to be frank , but after I went in for a bite it was alright. The sauce was ok, a bit sweet, and the chicken was mediocre at best. Kind of off putting how they just pile the ingredients on top. And finally , the buffalo chicken calzone. It's was alright. 6/10 maybe. The buffalo chicken bits were the tastiest part, and the cheese used seem just a bit too soft /rich to me to go with the rest of it. All in all, not disgusting, but wouldn't order again . Certainly better places in this grand city

I love this pizza place. It's always great but DO NOT order off of Grubhub. The hard work these people put into making your pizza goes to sh** once it reaches your door. This is the 2nd time this happened to me unfortunately smh

    Large Veggie Lovers Pie

I ordered a veggie pizza for delivery from here, and it was decent! The crust is just the right thickness and baked crispy, and the pizza is covered with broccoli, mushrooms, and onions. It was just the right amount to share, and it arrived right as I was getting home.

    White Pizza (with artichokes)

I ordered takeout from this restaurant I had placed an order for a medium white pizza with artichokes on it, which was extra as well as some garlic knots. The pizza was sooooo delicious!!!! I don't know why this place doesn't have more stars. The pizza slices were generous and huge! The pizza wasn't too salty and the crust was absolutely perfect! The perfect blend of crunchy/crispy and doughy. The garlic knots weren't a hit but after I heated them they tasted pretty decent. But overall I'd definitely order from this place again and I think they deserve more stars. Not to mention the pricing is worth it. I believe that the $33 for the medium pie and the garlic knots was definitely worth it. They're also opened pretty late 7 days a week so totally worth it on my humble opinion. I wish they had this pizza place in Atlanta I guess I better eat as much of this pizza before I leave NYC!

You can either take the stairs or the elevator. If you opt for the elevator, there's complimentary wine set up that you serve yourself. This would be great if the elevator took longer, but you are already there before you can finish pouring. I like that they have couches for you to sit at while you wait for your table. It's an open kitchen and you can see all of the action. The energy felt great here. We ordered the cast iron focaccia and Tuna Tonnato. The Focaccia is probably the best I've ever had. It was light and airy and not what a traditional focaccia would taste like. The crust had a nice crisp to it. It was brushed with olive oil and finished with salt. Just perfect and highly recommend. It came with a tomato chili sauce, which tasted good, but was not needed for this. We ordered the tuna to pair with the bread and it was a great combo. I ended up ordering the hangar steak and it was good. Full of flavor and the chimichurri sauce was a nice touch. Though, I would have like the taste of the beef to come out more. The marinade overpowered the meat IMO. My wife got the Rigatoni alla Gricia. I like the pasta and it was bouncy, but the dish was too salty though. We ended the night with the basque cheesecake and I have to say that it wasn't my favorite. The texture seemed off. Normally basque cheesecake is smooth and creamy, but this was a little lumpy like when you over cook eggs in a dessert. Overall, the service was great and the vibes of the restaurant was on point. The food didn't blow me out of the water, but it was good. I would come back here for the focaccia though.

There are numerous locations now in the city but this was my first time going and I was definitely eyeing it for awhile. They do weekday lunch specials of $14 pastas, boozey weekend brunches for around $24/25(not including food), and $12 Sunday dinner specials on entrees as well as happy hours on weekdays from 4-7pm that include: $7 snacks, $8 wine, $5 beer, $9 spritzes, and $9 wells. I happened to come in for Labor Day Brunch on Saturday. We both said we were going to do unlimited but honestly could only finish about a pitcher of mimosa and they only charged us for the one pitcher was the nice part. I went with Carbonara Pasta and my boyfriend had the egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich with fries. I'm not gonna lie, I've never gone to aycd brunch and have not finished my food but I could not finish my entree it was so massive and filling. I haven't had a pasta this rich in ages and it was so so good and I am all for not having those skimpy little portions. He couldn't finish his sandwich either. I tried one of the fries and it was nicely battered thick cut wedge fries. Maybe I haven't been eating out alot lately but I was legit impressed. The staff was wonderful and thoughtful. The cafe in itself is very cute and Italian with black and white marble in the bathrooms, white marble bar top, hanging plants, interesting light fixtures. I'm definitely going to make a point to come back soon.

This means those dishes aren't truly gluten free for people with celiac disease or anyone who has to avoid gluten. When I pointed that out to my server, he just gave me a blank stare. I tried to explain why labeling those items as gluten free is misleading, but he seemed completely disinterested, even annoyed, dismissed what I was saying, and simply responded that the pasta is gluten free. I acknowledged that the server doesn't write the menu, but absolutely zero customer service skills. The service overall was lacking. Aside from taking our order, no one checked on us or came back to see if we needed anything. Our server was just hanging out chatting up the hostess. We had to request the bill from the manager & paid at the hostess stand. Before paying, I spoke with the manager and explained what had occured. He was more professional than the server, but he was still dismissive of my concerns and of the service we received. Management seemed happy enough to promote the "option". The food was okay, definitely not enough to make up for the poor service and handling of a serious dietary issue. Needless to say I will not be returning.

The interior was completely packed, and the noise level was high enough for my smart watch to complain. To sample a bit of everything, we shared two orders of focaccia, four pastas, and one dessert. HOUSE-MADE FOCACCIA - 10 Super bouncy with a bit of chew, this was probably the best focaccia I've ever eaten. It came generously drizzled with olive oil and alongside chopped peppers drenched in even more olive oil, which added a nice little kick. We highly recommend starting with this. TAGLIATELLE - 27 Out of the four pastas, this was my absolute favorite. I love the thin yet chewy texture of the tagliatelle, and the bolognese sauce was rich and hearty. Finished with just the right amount of Parmigiano, both the pasta texture and sauce were sheer perfection. PICI 'CACIO E PEPE' - 23 This was such a simple pasta, yet so delicious. It was incredibly creamy and cheesy, with hints of fresh black pepper flavor that blew standard at-home black pepper grinders out of the water. Despite it being the simplest pasta of the night, I enjoyed it immensely. RIGATONI - 32 This pasta was simple yet slightly innovative, featuring sausage paired with a broccoli-based pesto. There was a slight bitterness that was polarizing among our group. While this wasn't my favorite pasta, I appreciated the creativity. PERCIATELLI NERO - 35 This dish packed in more components than just pasta and sauce: plenty of crab, tomatoes, and crispy breadcrumbs on top. However, the combination wasn't very memorable. None of the flavors really stood out, and it was my least favorite pasta of the night. OLIVE OIL CAKE - 14 Served with a pile of golden raisins and fancy whipped cream, this ended up being a bit of a miss. The raisins were a bit too sweet, and the cake's texture was uneven -- some bites were soft and moist, while others felt dry. A couple of others in my group also felt the same way. Overall, I'd give L'Artusi a 4.5/5; it was mostly hits with a couple of misses. The pasta portions are quite small. Since each dish is primarily carbs and sauce, I'd imagine you'll likely need an appetizer or a pasta and a half to leave full. Still, I'd definitely come back for the focaccia, tagliatelle, and the cacio e pepe.

There are several places around the city that I feel can deliver a similar meal and experience without quite as much hype. That's not to say I didn't enjoy L'Artusi, because I absolutely did. It just didn't separate itself from some of the other really good Italian restaurants I've visited. Service was great, the atmosphere was nice, and overall we had a very enjoyable dinner. Just one where my expectations may have been a little higher than the experience delivered.
