Great experience! We found and selected Deljo for some seasonal maintenance on Angie's List based on a few reviews. The tech (Chris) was great, and gave us his card with direct contact info. No other HVAC company I ever hired gave me direct contact info. I actually had to contact Chris for a minor issue, and he called back within minutes. He also happened to be in the area and was at my house within 15 minutes to resolve the issue. We signed up for the maintenance contract, and received a thank you letter in the mail from Deljo. Not many companies take the time to follow up and say "thank you," especially for a relatively inexpensive purchase. Our existing A/C was old, used R121 (freon), and needed at least $1000-$1500 worth of work and refrigerant, so we decided to bite the bullet and replace both our systems (AC and furnaces) to take advantage of the increased efficiencies, as well as solve some problems of uneven cooling in our house. David our salesman did a great job throughout the sales process explaining our options and letting us decide. No pushiness or pressure. We ended up replacing the furnaces as well as the A/C because of the improvements in technology and efficiency (esp. variable speed blower to keep air moving for longer periods of time). I think David was actually surprised we replaced everything since the A/C was really the main component that needed replacement. I feel David actually undersold the options and the effect it would have on our house. We were blown away with the new system and how well it works. Incredibly, somehow our top floors remain cool, and lower floor/basement is not freezing as it was with our old system. David said there would be an improvement, but this system has really impressed us. The lead installers Steve and Robin were fantastic as well. Four installers replaced two complete A/C and furnaces in a single day. Due to a little rain they were unable to complete a new PVC roof exhaust, but everything else was fully operational in a single day. The entire crew was courteous, hard working, very quick and took pride in their work. Steve actually saw something he didn't like with one of the furnace installations right before he was leaving and changed it before he left. The system was very expensive, and I was having a hard time deciding to go through with the installation. Based on some info I found on the internet, the quoted prices seemed on the high side. But all the HVAC discussion groups reiterated time after time that a new HVAC system is only as good as the installation. And Deljo backs up their equipment and work with a 2 year guarantee. If we aren't happy with the new system, they will take it out and refund our money. In the end, I think this peace of mind was the reason that we went through with this major expense. We could have maybe saved a few thousand dollars going through a small contractor who may or may not be around in 2 years. And again, Deljo followed up with a thank you letter and cookies. Of course cookies are not a major expense or effort for a customer who has just spent many thousands of dollars, but how many companies actually do this? Not many. I share this review with my roommate since I am witness to everything that occurred and Yelp keeps hiding the review. Ok. Yelp deleted my review, yelp needs to follow their own guidelines and this company can report my review all they want but I have a right to share my experience with this company. I have zero affiliation unless Yelp is considering my friend recommended this place an affiliation. I was not a former employee, did not personally date anyone that worked here. I had zero knowledge on this place until having them come out to my home to provide below my standard, work. For yelp to restrict or remove my genuine review goes against what this entire website is created for. Is this company paying to have bad reviews removed? Let's try this again. This is hands down THE WORST heating company I have ever dealt with. Only used them after a friend of mine recommended them since she used to date one of the technicians. I figured why not and gave them a call since I was interested in having a new system installed. Initially I spoke with Danny to set up the appointment who had no knowledge about the system I was interested in and couldn't answer any questions but I set up an estimate regardless. Matt comes out, was professional as well as informative so I went with Deljo on replacing my furnace. They quoted me nearly $2,000 higher than the other companies I had come out but I wanted to use a what I thought was a reliable company that came recommended. The installers were pretty unprofessional and were complaining about not having enough space for the furnace to be installed, which was absurd since someone came out to take measurements to make sure it did fit! Anyways they seem to rush through the installation and left without talking to me first....ok then. The NEW furnace stopped working after 24 hours!! I call Deljo and set up an appointment for a senior technician to come out who tells me that I need to have ductwork repairs that would cost me thousands and that my system is oversized. OVERSIZED?! Somehow he got it up and running but told me I will need to address the ductwork soon or will experience more issues WITH MY NEW FURNACE FROM DELJO?! What a total crock of shit. First of off, the technician reeked of cigarettes and I could have sworn I smelled beer on his breath. My wife is a cancer survivor so in my humble opinion it is very unprofessional for the technicians to REEK of cigarettes when entering someones home. Back to my story, I call and speak to the service manager Josh who is THE MOST condescending representative I have ever had the unfortunate task of talking to who did not help me at all. At this point I was ready to go to someone else to get a second opinion and turns out it was a wiring issue with my thermostat. Congrats Deljo, you company is full of people who don't know what they are doing. Glad I paid you WAAAAY too much money for craptastical work. Deljo came highly recommended by our neighbors; they lived up to their reputation. On one of the coldest days of this season, our 32-year-old furnace stopped working. The customer service representative with whom I spoke was professional. I asked about a senior discount and received $25 off the cost of the service call. The repairman (Taylor) came in the time frame that was scheduled and called to let me that he was on the way. What we hoped was a simple electrical problem cascaded into an expensive repair on over-time. Normally, I am suspicious of those circumstances, but my spouse who knows a great deal about furnace motors and electronics was with the repairman throughout the examination. With a few documented defects identified, we decided that the parts replacement might just be the tip of the iceberg on this aged furnace. We opted to discuss a new furnace. We talked to the salesman (Luke) at 8:30 AM; he came to house at 9 AM and by mid-morning, the crew was there. We purchased the furnace that we wanted, that we knew would heat our house properly. Naturally, the price of a new furnace and labor is shocking, but it was fair for the product. If the weather was better, I might have shopped around, but we felt the price was in line with what we might get from other Carrier dealers. The crew removed the old one, re-piped gas line, fixed duct work, put in openings for future planned duct work, installed the filter at a place where I can reach it, put in a new drip line that was far better than what we had, walked us through operations, and cleaned-up well. They were focused and worked through; it took at least 3 hours. We received another senior small discount on the furnace, and they handled the Com-Ed rebated for us, so that was also deducted from the price. The next day, the company followed to make sure we were satisfied. The only thing that we noticed after the fact was that the pilot for the water heater went out when the gas was turned off. Last fall we had a new Unico air conditioning system installed to replace one that was installed in 2000 and which had failed, multiple times, during practically every cooling season. Towards the end of this first year of operation of our new system one day we realized that the new system had performed steadily and reassuringly and what an amazing feeling it was to have not been constantly worried about the next failure. The steady sound could be likened to the reliability of a jet engine by Rolls Royce. The old system, when it was running, required the thermostat to be set at 69 degrees to provide a reasonable degree of comfort for the bedrooms located in the middle of the apartment, the front of the apartment was so cold as to be not useable; the back of the apartment became progressively hotter. With our new Unico system from Deljo the thermostat was set at 73 degrees to provide a comfortable temperature for most of the apartment. There was one failure in the first week of operation, but it stemmed from the need to add refrigerant which had not been possible due to the outside temperature when the new system installation took place. What a good feeling. What a relief to be free of having to install window units as back up for the inevitable failures. The system still needs a minor adjustment to balance the cooling at the juncture of the front of the apartment and the back; this will involve installing a few more ports into two rooms. We have been impressed with the knowledge, courtesy and professionalism of everyone we've met from Deljo. We have been very pleased with Deljo, and with their work. To contrast this review of Deljo I am submitting a separate review of AA Service Company who designed and installed the previous Unico system for our home, and who serviced this system during all those years--15 years--to nurse it along during the cooling seasons. read more

I don't usually write extended reviews, however, this is an exception that was earned by DELJO. I had a first time problem with my A/C HVAC unit. The A/C unit would turn on/off, and other strange mechanical things on it's own terms. Tried a new thermostat, but same problems. So I really became stressed out. Well let me start by writing that I did sooo much research related to new/repair & maintenance services provided by many companies. Sometimes I am skeptical of misleading or unethical service companies. After all the information I obtained, I decided to go with DelJo. Everyone, including the office staff, to my service technician were so friendly and understanding. ALBERTO was wow!!!!! Expertise, knowledge, experience, friendliness surpassed my expectations out of this world. Alberto repaired my older unit which required some additional unforeseen diagnostics and the need for a unique 'circuit board '. ALBERTO provided and explained the quote for the repair. And even took the time to visually show and explain how my HVAC unit was designed, and how it operated. The costs to repair the problem was reasonable with my budget constraints. Once I find a service company for personal, home, and auto that I trust...I stick with them for years and years. ALBERTO also provided a courtesy option for the DELJO annual HVAC maintenance/tune-up agreement for my heating and A/C unit. Our furnace shut down one night during an extremely cold spell (-16). Dave, the on-call technician from Deljo managed to squeeze us into his already incredibly busy night. He checked out the furnace and assured us it was still safe to use, got it running again, though he couldn't find the source of the problem right then, said the office would call in the morning to schedule followup. Next day, Nathan came out and did a full diagnostic of the furnace, which had gone out again. He correctly diagnosed the problem was the rollout switch was getting tripped and suspected it might be due to a clog in the air intake pipe. He was very professional and explained everything incredibly well. What impressed me most, though, was that he phoned the manufacturer's technical support before he left to be sure there wasn't anything else for him to check out. The furnace was working again when he left. Sadly, it shut off again that very night (got down to 58 degrees inside). Nathan returned and, after pretty much taking the furnace apart to check out all the functional parts, determined there was, indeed, a clog in the air intake pipe. Our townhouse is built in a way that made it very difficult to do anything about it. After consulting with his manager, he decided the best solution was to cut the pipe about a foot from the furnace, thus allowing it to take in air from inside the house. This worked! In the process, we learned lots about how our furnace works. The only time we were charged for service was the first night when Dave came out. Deljo would have received 5 stars, but only 4 because it took 3 visits to actually solve the problem. We will definitely call them again for any future issues! read more

Over the past 4 weeks, we had Deljo replace an 18 year old Carrier system (in our basement) and a 6 year old Lennox system (for the upper floors) with two new Carrier systems. We had been working with Four Seasons for the prior 15 years and they installed the Lennox system. We had both Deljo and Four Seasons bid on the new equipment and chose to go with Deljo, primarily because we felt the quality of the service would be better. The price between the two bids were roughly comparable. The Deljo folks did a great job - they were very professional, on time, clean and the quality of the installations were excellent. One of the owners and their business development manager, Luke, both stopped by to check on the jobs, and they showed true interest in the project. About 3 weeks after the first system was installed in the basement, the Lennox system upstairs starting acting up. We called Luke and he had a technician at my house within 30 minutes. They determined that my heat exchanger was cracked and the system needed to be shut down (due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning). At the time it was 10 degrees outside. Luke and his team went above and beyond the call of duty by providing us with space heaters and trying to keep us at ease. We ended up replacing the equipment upstairs with a Carrier Infinity system - it is working great and is very quiet. We are very happy with the service, installation, and professionalism of Deljo. Having been through the process of replacing equipment with 2 different companies, I highly recommend Deljo. They are a high quality, high service organization. read more

I called Deljo back in Feb since my HVAC was not heating. Even as the technician entered the house told him that the surface heater was not heating up. It took him 5 minutes to check and tell me the same thing. He then told me that the part would cost me $354. I was shocked since I had checked the part online before he came. The part cost between $19 and $50. When I told him that, he said it was the company price and gave me some speel about warranty, complex installation and all that. I told him that I would think about it. The OEM dealer from Amazon where the cost was $19 (incl Shipping), was based out of Chicago but was closing in 10 minutes since it was a Friday. Took me a couple of hours to find another local dealer since I did not wait until Tuesday for the part to be shipped. Cost me about $55 with taxes. 5 minutes to remove the old one and 5 minutes to fix the new surface heater (complex installation!!!!) . I called this place since I had got my A/c installed from them just year and half ago. I had hoped that I would be provided decent service as a repeat customer. But they charged me $89 for a 5 minute visit and wanted to stiff me with a $354 additional bill for a part that could not have cost them more than what I paid ($55) probably much less. I will never call them again since they have no ethics and seem to draw inspiration from Martin Shkreli. Definitely not the ethics of a "family run business" read more

Salesperson, Luke provided helpful presentation of all options to replace our AC and answered all my questions clearly. Gave opinions on which unit to choose based on how many years we were planning to stay in our home (eg, higher efficiency meant more money up front but greater savings on utilities long term, etc.) Adrian and Alex, our installers were punctual, professional, courteous (shoe covers!) and expedient. They showed up 2 days after Luke's visit exactly at 7:30 AM as scheduled. Spent a minute showing them where things were and locations of doors. These guys used the back doors avoiding the great room area which meant they had to go a longer way to go back and forth from their truck and between our floors. How many workers do that? Adrian provided a nice wrap up and tour of what was completed, what to expect, etc. after job was completed. Was told job would take 5-6 hours but pleasant surprise--only 4-5! The job actually only took just under 4 hours but required an additional half hour or so to fire up the unit fully to assess performance. Incidentally, we live in Lakeview East which is horrible for parking. These guys just handled this without even bothering me about it. Will not be disappointed with this company. For those who want to know, they use Carrier AC units which I learned after the fact are a best overall product. read more

Our 19 year old AC system stopped cooling so, as Gold Star Deljo service customers, a technician came out on a Saturday within three hours of my call to look at the system. He diagnosed the problem as a blower motor that would no longer stay on. However, while they would do the work, he suggested that the $1500 cost of the blower (if it was available) was not worth it since our A/C would need to be replaced by next year if it developed a leak since freon would no longer be available. Since we had planned to replace both the old A/C and furnace anyway next year, he had Patrick, an engineer, come over Monday morning. The estimate to replace both was in line with what I had expected, and got the higher quality Carrier unit as well. Most amazing was that Patrick was able to schedule installation for the next day (Tuesday), including a crane to lift the compressor up to the roof of our 3 story townhouse! Brandon and Steve showed up promptly at 8 and had everything finished, including removing and reinstalling the water heater, by 4 pm. The crane blocked traffic in our cul du sac for only 15 minutes. They were extremely professional and even earned a compliment for the installation from our very particular finish carpenter friend. We definitely recommend using Deljo read more

Please stay away from this company. They have no INTEGRITY as a business. Their only goal is to sweet-talk you and walk away with your hard earned money - plain and simple. Take this review as the gospel truth. Try to read the other reviews. Do not fall for their sweet talking sales people. They could sell an Eskimo ice. This is why you should take the reviews on here seriously. I really feel bad for those who will not get the benefit of reading the reviews. DO NOT become their statistic. They treat you just like a number. Please go with another company even if that company will charge you a few $$$. For the quality of service that I got - I would've been better off if I had made this my DIY project. Deljo HVAC hasn't done anything reasonable ever since I posted my initial review other can calls telling me how they intend to "help" me. I just had a new furnace and air conditioner installed. My sales person, Jay evaluated my home and listened closely to the issues being experienced and although skeptical at first about the zoned heating system he recommended, Jay was spot on! After getting the furnace installed, my upstairs is 8 degrees warmer. Having a second thermostat upstairs resolved my problem. Technicians, Steve and Robin were excellent. Both explained the process as they moved through the stages of installation. They were very courteous and respectful of my home; wearing the shoe coverings and ensuring my home was left tidy and clean; especially in the furnace room. After removing the old furnace the area was quite dirty. I was going to clean it before they installed the new furnace, but was told they'll ensure everything is properly cleaned. And it was left spotless! In addition to the new furnace and cooling system, the ducts were aero sealed. Amazing how much leakage was escaping. My AC went out at the absolute worst time...July in Chicago! Deljo had been recommended to me by my neighbor and they were able to send a technician out to my house quickly. Unfortunately, I needed a new AC unit and furnace as it would have cost quite a bit to fix a 15 year old unit but they gave me that option. Again, they were able to send an engineer out right away to give me a competitive quote. Greg Middleton was great, he spent a lot of time explaining everything to me and advising me on the best unit to fit my needs. Alex Vega and Brandon Clement came out on a 100 degree day to replace the unit and I can't say enough about how awesome they were! Both were very professional, hard workers and had a smile despite sweating in the heat. Alex even found issues from previous shoddy work that he repaired on the spot. My gas, furnace and water valves are all labeled and Deljo will be coming twice a year to inspect both units and ensure they are working properly. I highly recommend Deljo for quality work with competitive pricing. read more

I really appreciate this company and the work they did on my home. I was having a new Furnace, Hot Water Heater and Air Conditioner installed. My basement had flooded and taken out a 4 month old Hot Water Heater and furnace installed by a different company. Patrick came out and walked me through the units and what was best for my house, he talked to me and not at me. Answered all my questions and treated me respectfully, which was greatly appreciated. The Installers were fabulous. The came in, had the old units out so fast I was really impressed, a pickup truck pulled up and my new units were pulled off the truck, old units were put on the truck. Clean and quick. I was blown away. These guys were professionals who knew what they were doing. The installation was completed in one day. No mess was left behind, and after my first install you could really see the different in craftsmanship. I would use them again and have already recommended them to friends and family. read more

What most impressed me was the young lady who answered the phone. She gave me a sense of confidence and answered all my questions. The nice thing was that I actually had a friendly conversation with her. She made me feel important. Eric, the service technician, was wonderful. Not only was the service prompt but I felt comfortable with him in my house. He gave me the feeling that he actually cared about a family with no heat. He patiently listened to what I had to say and he explained what needed to be fixed in a way that I understood I didn't feel that I was being taken advantage of as a women who knows nothing about my furnace. The best part of my experience was that he not only fixed the problem but cleaned out the furnace area. We now have heat and with three kids under foot it's a pretty good deal. Deljo replaced our 22 year old air conditioning unit yesterday- I highly recommend them. Our old system was having difficulty adequately cooling on hot days. We also had a long standing problem of very inadequate air distribution in our bedroom and in the home office. The entire team was very professional and knowledgeable and they did a great job. Brandon was extremely helpful in our initial consultation; and in reviewing our options. The team that did the install (Marek and Kevin) were great- They were extremely helpful and knowledgeable-Marek and Kevin were also extremely polite, respectful, and clean. They reviewed in detail the problems with our previous install- and reviewed the significant work they did to replace the system and repair and readjust the duct work. The result was a night and day improvement- and we finally have cool air equally distributed through out the house. Hooray! read more

From sales to service/install Deljo is the experience I crossed my fingers for as a first time homeowner. Quick, proactive, responsive, detailed and professional. My wife and I chose Deljo to install a new high-efficient boiler (for radiant floor and radiator heat) and tank-based water heating system in to our bungalow. Working through Dave, he had Steve, Casey and Wesley out to our house in 24 hours to remove our old equipment, and completely install our new system in one work day. Pricing was transparent, detailed and fair, and it couldn't have been made more clear that they stand by the quality of their work. I couldn't possibly recommend this company higher. They install reputable name brands with service, part and manufacturer's warranties, and offer 24 service calls.
