This is not a reputable and honest company. I had my condo AC unit checked and evaluated along with other owners in my condo building. The estimates that we were given by Deljo ranged from $300 to $1,500. In each owners checkup estimate we were all recommended to buy whole new systems. After these estimates were done our condominium commercial vendor did their own follow-up evaluations and the owners were told the estimates Deljo gave us were inaccurate. For example, on my estimate I was told I needed to replace my AC contactor when our commercial vendor reviewed it he took a pic which showed evidence it didn't require replacing and it that the contactor had never been tested by Deljo . I would not rely on this company for professionalism and truth. read more

We had an annual service agreement with a firm purchased by Deljo and carried it over. As part of the agreement we had our spring maintenance done the first week of May 2021. The technician was not thorough. After charging us $500 for sealant and refrigerant(on top of the $450 maintenance agreement), he left. The first hot day in mid- May- the unit blew only hot air. After calling Deljo, they scheduled another technician to come out, they tried to reschedule for several days later but we refused. That technician admitted that the first guy had overfilled the compressor and could have ruined the A/C unit. He indicated he didn't have the necessary equipment to fix the unit and we needed to rescheduled a third time. A different tech came, claimed to have fixed the issue ;and on the next hot day- no A/C. We will also add the we received no refund for the over charge, no call back and no request for feedback. We hired another provider who had a much more competent approach and they recognized the issue immediately and after 2 hours or repair solved the problem. Our sense is that the quality of Deljo's work is unfortunately not up to their competitors in the Chicago area. read more

First of all, the price of having a technician come out and diagnose your issue is $109. That is insanely high even compared to other Chicago vendors (Lakeview / Lincoln Park). When the technician came out, he determined that we needed to replace our circuit board. The price? $580. Flabbergasted by this price, I asked how many hours the labor requires and whether the hourly rate was reasonable. Their response is that "it's a flat rate - we don't develop this pricing on a per/hour basis." We called a separate provider who then came out and fixed our issue for $96/hour and it only took them one hour. So, under some insane logic, Deljo decided it was acceptable to charge me $580 for something that would have taken an hour. If you don't want to pay 5 times the price for service, avoid Deljo at all costs. read more

They say they service boilers but they don't have anyone available to service a boiler on a weekend. For the second time in 4 months, I called on a weekend requesting emergency boiler service because I had no heat in my 2 flat. Despite no heat they told me the earliest that they would have a boiler tech available would be Mon. Two days without heat? I don't think so. I used to use Deljo for all my heating service needs. We have had ongoing AC issues for about a month. We had another company come out a month ago during the first heat wave, and they didn't do a ton of diagnostics (we soon learned once we got Deljo here) and the issue kept happening. Deljo sent Eddie and he was amazing. He was incredibly thorough and his diagnostics the first night (Emergency visit) took quite a while, but were necessary to find the root issues. He walked us through everything he was doing and finding and what would need to happen. He also was clear on pricing and why. He never pushed anything on us, and let us know each step that may need to occur. He did need to come back the next day to continue work which was fine by us. Again, he was thorough and kind and explained everything. He even replaced our thermostat per our request to a great Ecobee. We decided to do the gold program where deljo will be servicing our systems seasonly and also will be available to service our HVAC. Rushed home early from work just in case but no one showed. Finally called at 6:20 and were told that they would have the technician call us back. No technician ever called us back. Well, we have always LOVED using these folks right up until they tried to price gauge us for some ac repairs. They recently came for our annual cleaning & check and the tech found 2 problems. He also said we might want to just get a new furnace (since ours is the "cheap" builder model that was included standard in all the homes for our subdivision 10 years ago...I get it, they gotta try for the upsell). I don't know why, but I just had a bad feeling about this $1100 estimate for repairs (if we didn't get a whole new furnace) so we called another company to come out for a check. We decided to be up front and told the other company we wanted a second opinion on what deljo had said. He quoted us a mere $400 to repair the two items Deljo found (so $700 LESS than the original parts estimate!). Wow. When I called to talk to the manager at Deljo about the situation, he was rude and unwilling to help in any way. Sorry...I don't think we'll be using you anymore. A year ago, two humidifiers were installed by DelJo. We were told to have them serviced in a year, so last October, a serviceman inspected the units. He came hours late and told us that everything was fine. Since it was warm weather, we did not need humidity for several weeks, then found that neither unit worked. We also were told that the fans needed to be run continually, which was not necessary and caused a major increase in our electric bill. When we called another company to correct the problem, we were told that the nozzles were clogged and there was air in the lines, both corrected with ease. read more

These guys are a bunch of crooks. Their prices are 2-3 times higher than the other quotes I got. They want to replace every part regardless of whether it needs to be replaced or not. They recommended replacing 4 parts for $2500, the parts are approx $300. Another company went in in 1 Day, replaced 2 parts for $550 (those 2 parts would have been $1158 at Deljo). read more

ok, so the dog in the photos sold me. i have a philosophy that if a man is good to his dog, more than likely that compassion and good nature will translate to how he treats another man. i was right. i called the company because our water heater kept displaying error codes on the LED display after shutting off on its own. we couldn't keep the heater on long enough to heat the water. kelly was SUPER sweet and helpful and was even able to find an open appointment the same day to send a senior tech, alberto over. true to her word, alberto showed up on time within the window and called from the gate. he was personable and kind and explained quickly and thoroughly the problem with the heater, and told me it had to he replaced. i must have asked a thousand questions and he fielded them easily and confidently and even laughed at my jokes about giving me a 90% discount. i paid with a card for the inspection right then, receive my quote for installation immediately and felt absolutely no pressure to go with them for the future service. they actually encouraged me to think about my next moves to replace when i mentioned i wanted to shop around a bit more. i would definitely recommend this company and i plan to see them in the future for maintenance of our new water heater. read more

Deljo has gone down the tubes in the last 5 years or so and I apologize to anyone that saw my previous review and relied on it. First, they upsell everything. We actually bought their furnace/A/C "maintenance plan" which is completely useless. Not only did we pay for maintenance that wasn't needed, but it led up to what has cost me about $4500 in repairs because of something that Deljo couldn't fix properly. Our "maintained" A/C unit stopped cooling early this summer and we called Deljo. They came out and diagnosed a leak in the system and injected a sealant. Ask any reputable HVAC repair person about this stuff. It's the lazy way to repair the system and it can cause more problems than it solved. Anyway, it didn't work, and we were out the cost of the visit and the sealant. We called someone else to look at it b/c we were desperate and it turned out that the sealant ended up clogging the A-coil, which in turn caused the compressor to burn out. Rather than waste my time with Deljo (b/c when I called they basically said too bad, but we'll come out and do more repairs for more money) I called Chicago Heating and Cooling 1 Corp (look them up on Yelp if you accidentally land on this page) Thanks Deljo, you just cost me another $4500 to get it replaced by someone who actually knew what they were doing. I shudder to think whether I actually needed an entire new furnace when you replaced it 4 years ago. read more

Very unreasonable pricing on small repair job, fixing exhaust ducting for two adjacent water heaters. After coming out for an $89 service call to take a look at it, their estimate was that it would take 2 hours of work, and their "flat rate" pricing was $386, + the $89 fee for the service call, for a total of $475. For 2 hours of work and about 4 feet of duct. I sucked up the $89 fee and called another company who completed the entire job for $220 total, priced at parts plus labor. Less than half Deljo's estimate. The "flat rate" fee approach seemed to give a very unreasonable estimate but they wouldn't budge on it, and you don't know how wacked out it is until you've committed to the $89 service call. Stay away from Deljo; I wish I had. Last year my 19-year-old furnace was failing so I decided to replace it and the A/C. The salesman, Frank, told me the installer could put sound insulation in the small closet where the furnace is located. I'm in a condo and the closet is in the living room. It can be kind of loud when it kicks on. None of the other contractors suggested this so I went with Deljo. On the day of the installation, I watched the furnace installer and asked where the sound insulation would go. His reply: what sound insulation? I told him it was in the contract I signed with the salesman. He didn't know anything about it. Then the A/C installers didn't know which one of the 68 compressors on the roof was for my unit. No one checked it out in advance, and because of that they didn't realize that they would need a lot more manpower to get the new compressor into place. The salesman had to come back during the installation to work some of this out. I asked him about the sound insulation; the installer said it wouldn't fit in the small space. No problem, says the salesman, he'll just knock $200 off the total price since it can't be done. But wait! That's why I hired Deljo. Besides, the contract didn't itemize the price for the insulation. How would I know if they were really charging me $200 for it, or maybe they had charged $500 for it and so would be happy to return $200. Cha-ching! Way to make $300. I questioned the salesman about this, so he said they would add a free 10-year warranty. Six or eight months later I had to call them to "remind" them to send the warranty. Deljo's price, with the $200 knocked off, was still $600 more than my second-place bidder. And bidder #2 had offered to throw in two free furnace cleanings. Bottom line: Skip Deljo. The Keystone Cops would have done a better job. read more

After 3 years of working with the heating and cooling company that installed our furnace (prior to our purchase of our home) and never getting it to work right - we called Deljo Heating and in one day, have it working perfectly. Reasons why Deljo rocks: 1 - they have a dispatcher. nothing is more frustrating then trying to make an appointment an never being able to reach anyone. 2 - the repair man they sent out was extremely nice and spent time explaining what was wrong (on a Bears football night...if I were him, I would have had one foot out the door!) 3 - Deljo followed up with us the very next day. 4 - We requested having a sales person come out with the repair man - that is how sick of our furnace we are - and the repair man and sales person both agreed that we did not need to get a new furnace. They could have told us we needed one (and made $$$$) - we didn't need a lot of convincing - but they were honest with us and saved us money. read more

The summary of my experience is; - The quotes they provided we extremely high for the work being quoted as proven by taking the time to check. - They charged me weeks later for a 2nd visit which wasn't going to be billed and was never signed off on. This was after being $400-500 into them already. It is pretty clear that when enough time had passed they were sure I wasn't going to have them do a full furnace replacement they tried to extort me into they decided there was no reason to be honest and fair and decided to take another little bite out of my wallet. - They attempted to extort me into rushing into an overpriced and not 100% necessary furnace replacement by taking advantage of the fact heat was out and it was one of those record chicago cold snaps with subzero temps. Those are just the facts. Beyond this on the more subjective side I felt I was treated rudely, subjected to raised voices, and not listened to at all about what I wanted despite them wanting me to spend thousands with them. I strongly recommend you do not call them in an emergency situation because you will have a high chance of being taken advantage of. read more

I called Deljo today, even though they were supposed to call me yesterday or today at the latest and spoke with a customer service rep. They offered a dye test to determine where the leak was coming from and of course I would be responsible for the cost of the freon. They already know the leak is coming from the condenser coil, so why would I have a dye test done? This company has the absolute worst customer service around. I called the owner and left a message with him. Let's see if he actually returns my call. Until this issue is resolved I will continue to badmouth Deljo on every website and to every person I come in contact with. DELJO IS GARBAGE!! It's been 3 days and no one still has called me back. I called them back and was told a customer service manager was not available at the time. Now we're just playing phone tag. Check out all the one star reviews for yourself. *update* I finally have working air conditioning! We ended up using Climate Control Systems and they were awesome! They came out and installed a new a/c unit in two hours. They also had to add nearly fifteen feet of coil inside the house because Deljo didn't install the original a/c unit correctly. I called back and they said that they would have a technician call me, he never did. 2 days later I call again to schedule another appointment and the lady on the phone argues with me about what happened the previous time. I tell her that it doesn't matter but i would like to schedule another time for today. She still continues to argue with me about the previous experience, I say "Lets forget about the other time and get something on the books for today" ... I refuse to keep arguing with her and then she blurts out "You can have someone on overtime for today or pay regular price tomorrow". When you show up to work, leave the attitude at the door.. Called to schedule a service and the customer service on phone is horrible attitude. They gave me a ridiculously high price compared with other companies( 60% more than another good company with more and better reviews on yelp) and refused to explain why their numbers are so high. She also refused to allow me use the coupon listed here in yelp. I am not sure how their technicians' skills are because I ended up not using their service, but I would not want to use their service just to avoid dealing with the customer service. read more

After agreeing on the equipment , the installation took a little more than half a day and the two installers couldn't have been more professional, efficient, and patient explaining all the new features. I called and had a tech come out for a second opinion on a problem (I've been working with a GREAT HVAC man--Walter at A-A Mechanical). The tech spent the entire time on the phone calling REAL technicians for help. He was rude to me and at the end of 50 minutes spent on the phone, told me next to nothing and charge $72 for service in addition to the $89 fee. I'm sure all of you out there remember how HORRIBLE the winter of 2014 was. Mine was extra bad as it was my first winter as a homeowner, and everything that seemed to go wrong when the windchill was 40 below out, did. To my rescue came Deljo heating. Upon receiving a frantic call from me after 5 PM, they were able to send an emergency tech over that evening to do a quick evaluation. I had a massive crack in my furnace and it needed to be replaced as soon as possible. The team at Deljo was able to handle the replacement within 1 business day. The tech handling my install was kind, got right to work and was extremely tidy as well. He did take a while with the install (almost 9 full hours) but I'd rather have it take a bit and be done right the first time. What prompted this review was the phone call I just received reminding me to get my complimentary A/C cleaning appointment scheduled now that spring is on the way. What company actually reminds you that you have a free service visit upcoming and they'd like you to schedule it? Talk about pro-active with customer service, I love it. read more

Deljo was recommended to me by my sister who also lives in Chicago. I needed to have my HVAC inspected and it was not functioning in the below zero weather properly. Javier the technician was on time, very polite, super knowledgeable and honest. The repair was cleaning a part and the functioning returned. He answered all questions and recommended regular maintenance I agree since my unit is 12 years old. I highly recommend this company if you live within their service area, they are family owned and dedicated to their work. A+ service!!!!! read more

I used Deljo to have a steam humidifier installed into my yoga studio. What I was told would take 1/2 a day took them over 10 hours to do. In fact, when I arrived to the studio later in the day to teach my class, the maintenance guys had their materials all over the place and were still not finished. I told them multiple times when they needed to be done so as not to interrupt my class. As clients were coming into the studio, the guys were rushing to finish the project. In addition, the charge for this job was $800 over what they initially quoted me at, and they didn't even finish everything they needed to do. Overall a great experience working with Ralph. My air conditioner started freezing on an 80 degree day and Deljo came within hours (scheduled through comfort24-7.com). They added some refrigerant to my 19 year old air conditioner and it's still humming. Was a bit worried because of the reviews but Ralph proved me wrong, I even let him know I was worried. We've had Deljo here several times, and they do a great job (Charlie Cotto and Matthew Barbosa). Just as importantly, they don't take advantage of us. On two separate occasions, their technicians have told us that we don't need work done. For example, just this week we had concerns that our ductwork needed to be cleaned (because we recently finished a substantial remodel). Instead of charging me a fortune for unnecessary work, they checked the ductwork and told me it was reasonably clean and we shouldn't pay them to clean it. That tells me they're interested in a long-term business relationship; they want my business in the future, rather than to take some of my money today. In the future, we know we'll have work that needs to be done, and we will call Deljo. read more

I highly recommend DelJo. I realized our heat wasn't working (it was still pretty warm outside) on a Friday and they came out Saturday afternoon to do a consultation. It turns out that we either had to pay quite a bit to replace a part or to get a new furnace (ours was already pretty old). We chose to replace the furnace and to get a humidifier. The price quoted was very reasonable and we were up and running with heat only two weeks later (it could have been earlier, but we chose to schedule the appointment when we did for our convenience). There is an $89 fee for the initial consultation, but I think that is totally reasonable given that you get such prompt and reliable service and don't have to wait around during work hours. read more

The heater in our condo died. Deljo came and evaluated it, and said that it would cost almost as much to fix it as to replace it. (Welcome to modern appliances - designed to fail). They ordered us a new one and very professionally installed it. The team was great - they arrived right on time and finished the installation, made sure it work, and then kept in touch with us after to make sure everything was good. I can't imagine a better company to work with. I'm not sure what happened for the other Yelpsters who had bad experiences, but I would certainly recommend this company to neighbors and friends. read more

After the initial call I have water damage due to a leak they caused -of course they said I could get a quote or a complete new system!Deljo is a complete rip off and have terrible customer service as well! Deljo handled installation of a new furnace, AC and restructuring of duct work for my business. The entire process could not have gone better. The sales rep, Andrew Parra was extremely responsive. The work was fairly complicated and I really felt that he took the appropriate amount of time and energy to scope the job properly. The technicians, were clean, on time, very friendly, and certainly knew what they were doing. Communication throughout the project was clear and timely. They finished the work when they said they would finish at the price they committed. Any little things that came up during the work were quickly communicated and resolved. My overall satisfaction with them is very high. They will be my first call for any future HVAC needs. read more

He explained thoroughly on what parts were going bad and gave me quotes for parts and for a new system. He took his time and answered all my questions. Thank you sooooo much! During this arctic cold, I noticed at 3 am that my thermostat went down from 70 to 68. I called about 10, 24-hour emergency services, most of whom in fact, do not have 24-hour service. Eddie from Deljo called me back after I left a message with their 24-hour service line and talked me off the ledge! He said it's normal for boilers not to go past 65 in heat due to this weather so as long as the heat stays where's its at, I'm in good shape. I am a landlord in a 3 flat so it was so crucial that I had someone call me because I have so many others to attend to. Charlie is the man! During regular maintenance,​ he pointed out a lot of value-added​ ways to enable Nest features I was unaware of and he cleaned up some sloppy work of the prior (not Deljo) guy. I rushed him out the door because I was in a running late and when I came home something was off -- too cold. I took a flyer and texted Charlie at the number he called to confirm his ETA earlier that day...he responded! It is the worst experience with AC technician and I will never use them again even if they pay me to use them. My central AC has not been working and the indoor temperature has reached to 80 degree, which is very unbearable. Let along the frustrating scheduling, the experience with the technician is the worst. I explained to him that even if I set the temperature to 72 degree, it has not been cooling. It was working early perfectly this summer and last year too, so something must be wrong. My first assumption would be about Freon. When he came, he checked the machine by using some devices and the vent. Then he confirmed there was nothing wrong with the machine and it is working fine. He said the only reason that it is not cooling was because of the humidity. I understand that humidity plays a part in the cooling in general but the humidity level was also high before too and the AC has been working fine until now. Therefore, something must be wrong with the AC since nothing has changed since. He insisted that the AC is working properly and there is nothing he can do even if it is not cooling. To be honest, I am not sure what he was going on in his mind and how he reached the conclusion without even checking the Freon level!! I don't need you to tell me that AC is working fine while it is not. Obviously it is not working fine because is not cooling like it did before. In the end, he proposed that if I want, he can replace this 4 year old unit for me and it will cost about $18,000---and this is the most ridiculous and greedy act ever. After I said no to spend $ 18,000 to replace the AC THAT HE MENTIONED HAS BEEN WORKING PROPERLY, he charged me $100 for wasting my time and without spotting and fixing the issue. Avoid them if you don't want incompetent technicians to tell you something stupid. The fact that you didn't bother to check Freon level is just showing how lazy and low quality you are as a technician and company. read more
