Did a great job of dealing with my mobility issues, and were prepared in advance to meet me in Madison. Also did things right in Detroit. When I got to Amsterdam, though, they (more their partner, KLM) completely dropped the ball, and I had to climb down stairs to get off my plane, then up into a bus, and again up a long flight of stairs into the airport. I seem to have lost something in one of the two planes, and am waiting to see if they find it and offer to arrange to get it back to me. Worse, though, when I arrived in Germany, I waited half an hour at the luggage "belt," before concluding that my luggage wasn't coming. That was a real disaster, as there was cold foodstuffs in one of my checked bags, and my final destination is nearly 90 minutes away by ground transportation. I did finally get my two checked bags, but it was no joy to stay up until 11:20 at night when I was trying to adjust to a time zone 7 hours later than home. Delta at Madison did right by me, and if Delta internationally finds my little lost item and gets it to me, I'm change their score here by adding one star to it. (Update - the missing item was found and is in my possession)
I'll talk about my meals on the trip across the ocean when I'm able to upload the photos. So . . .
I had so much space on my flight across the ocean, it was quite nice. I couldn't imagine nicer, more thoughtful hosts than the staff who cared for me and my neighbors on this flight from Detroit to Amsterdam. I think that the bulk of my unhappiness may need to be directed at KLM, especially as I remember standing at their podium while they ignored me for so long. I kept thinking "am I invisible or something? Why isn't this woman acknowledging my presence and saying she'll be with me soon?" For that story, my reader must see my Yelp! of KLM. read more
