We stayed here for a quick trip with some other co workers. 10/15-10/17. The staff were very friendly and accommodating! Our room was clean and the perfect size or my husband and I. We had the room right when you walk in. 320 or 302. It has a beautiful view of the bridge and the delta. They give you a complimentary drink when you first get there. The bar dining area is beautiful. The location of this hotel is amazing. It can't get any better. We will definitely be back if we head up that way again! The main question is ....is it haunted. We didn't see anything but our friend who stayed above us didn't sleep due to a random clunking in the bathroom! read more

This review is based on their Thanksgiving Day Lunch Buffet. The reservation and check-in process were awesome. The presentation of the food was also great and our service was top notch. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was disappointing. The temperature of numerous hot dishes was, at best, luke warm (our reservation time was half an hour after they started serving). The green beans weren't cooked fully and were barely edible (patrons at a nearby table also commented on how undercooked they were). The gentleman working at their carving station was very nice, but had no concept. You barely got any meat at all because it looked like he was using too dull of a knife and/or had never cut meat before. The ham came out about a half hour late, but at least that caused it to be temperature hot. The turkey and prime rib weren't hot at all, and tasted poor as a result. Their salmon, potatoes, stuffing, and yams were all decent, but again not warm. The mac and cheese was substandard and cold. Salads and desserts were good, but it's pretty hard to mess those up. If it wasn't for our awesome waitress (Sladjana), I would give this one star. Just serving hot food would go a long way! It was very poor food experience for us. read more

**Delta King - Murder Mystery** My wife and I, along with another couple decided to give this experience a shot. Finding fun things to do in Sacramento is something the four us enjoy doing. Let me start by saying that none of the staff were rude at any point, you can see that everyone is trying to make the experience worthwhile, so thank you. Each couple spent ~$325 on a couples anniversary dinner including appetizer (salad), entree (steak), dessert (donut holes) and a bottle of twist off champagne. No note was included as advertised, a basic cheap runner is used...I do not recommend upgrading to the VIP package. As you enter the ship, you find yourself asking multiple people where to go. A bit unorganized. There is no need to arrive early as there is no line to wait in. Pre-purchase your tickets and walk right on the ship. Once we found the dining area (lower level), you get hit with a strong and overwhelming scent of old, stale, stagnant and non-circulating air. It was not pleasant. One server seemed to be working the entire event, and the actors in the murder mystery assisted. It took long waits to get a refill, order a drink, ask for a napkin, clean fork, etc. Drinks are not included in the $325. No free refills either. Coffee, Soda, Juice = $4. Alcoholic drinks = $12-$20. So each couple paid another $95 on top of the ticket prices. The salad came out and it was clearly made days in advance and set in the fridge. The plate was freezing cold and the salad had little to no crunch. Just drowned in dressing. It's a basic bagged salad, no toppings of any substance. 1/5 The steak arrived and it was as black and overcooked as Captain Blackbeard's old boots. Not to mention, it was the size of 4 steak bites found at your local grocer. Dry. Gray. Overcooked. Mashed potatoes were good. 1/5 The dessert came out and it was a glass filled with 4 donut holes. The donuts holes were so old and disgusting. When you bit into one, wet water or juice exploded out of it. Not pleasant, old, cheap and downright unacceptable. 0/5 As far as the Murder Mystery, it's pretty dumb. You can't keep up with the story. Lights never go out. Not to mention, they are so short handed, they ASK the guests to fill in for characters. They give you a binder and the guest is now working, while the table is eating or figuring out where to eat after this is over. I do believe this is very overpriced for the experience. The food is downright disrespectful when you think of what can be experienced for $400 a couple after drinks and gratuity....you can go to The Kitchen and experience Michelin level quality for this amount. Unfortunately, we will never be back. The experience in 2014 was 100x better than the one in 2024. I do not recommend the Murder Mystery dinner at all. It was laughable and embarrassing. We took the Amtrak train from Emeryville to Sacramento, and it couldn't have been more convenient--no traffic, beautiful views, and a relaxing ride all the way from the Bay to the Central Valley. From the station, it was just a short, easy 10-minute walk to the Delta King. For a quick city escape, the location is perfect. What really made the stay, though, was the team. At the front desk, Albert and Apple went above and beyond. They didn't just check us in-they checked in with us daily, making sure everything was smooth and that we had what we needed. They even moved rooms for us seamlessly, keeping us updated by text every step of the way. In the dining areas and cocktail lounge, Carsyn and her colleagues were spot on-friendly, attentive, and serving up some really tasty snacks and delicious libations. Carsyn's energy and quick banter kept the place lively, and she made us feel right at home. That level of professionalism and genuine care is rare, and it's clear they all take pride in running the hotel. The Delta King itself is a charming, one-of-a-kind spot, but it's the staff that makes it unforgettable. Big thanks to Carsyn, Albert, and Apple--you made our visit so lovely and enjoyable from start to finish. Here in a Saturday afternoon for a cocktail. Very very busy and only one bartender. But she did her best to keep up with the large crowd around the bar. She also had to wait the tables! Busy bar. I don't know if food is served in the bar area, but tables were set with tablecloths. So maybe you can order food. Good place for a drink and get some views to the river. 8/30/23 7:30p - party of 4 Delta King Bar & Grill is a nice restaurant that serves Louisiana inspired cuisine. The ambiance is set in a River stream boat. The surroundings are rustic and elegant. We elected outdoor seating for the river view. Our server took our order. It took over 50 mins for our dinner to be served. Our server never came by to give us an update our fill out water glasses. We saw a couple who was seated 20 mins to the left after us and they're order arrived within 10 mins. 30 minutes later, our dinner arrived. Shrimp Louie Salad and Clam Chowder - 5/5 The clam chowder was very good. It was buttery and creamy. There was enough clams where you would get one in about every other scoopful. The shrimp Louie salad was very good too. You got ample amount of cocktail shrimp along with a couple spears of asparagus, hard boiled egg and done kidney beans. Just enough dressing for flavor, not super drenched or skimpy. Salmon - 4/5 Nicely cooked. Not too overly dry and hard. The glaze was good. It have the salmon a nice flavor. Mahi Mahi - 3/5 The Mahi was a little hard and dry. It has more of a fishy flavor than I'm used to. It's hard to cook frozen Mahi Mahi. Caesar salad - 4/5 Good portion of salad, and good ceasar salad dressing. Croutons were crunchy, not soggy or soft. Our Delta King experience was not the best. Waiting for our food that long, and without an apology from our server was inexcusable. He was friendly but still no excuse. Delta king bar and grill is a great spot with a wrap patio (ship deck) and an adorable inside bar area. I'm here frequently for drinks and small bites. Sometimes an older crowd or groups outside, but it's a great spot for a date day/night in Old Sacramento that gives a genuine romantic, old timey feel. Great cocktails and a small but solid beer/wine option. We always have great service and the food has been consistently good. When you stay here you get a free drink voucher and free breakfast! How awesome!!! The drinks were okay. They are premixed, which is a 50/50. I didn't realize how crowded this area would be when we visited this past weekend. Luckily the Delta King Hotel has valet parking, because the Tower Bridge Garage was full to the public when we arrived on a Saturday afternoon and street parking was impossible, so much traffic in the area (the valet ended up parking our car in that same garage, lol). We stayed for two nights, and loved everything about the hotel. The boat is such a beautiful historical landmark, the views were amazing... the Sacramento River right outside our room window, the Ziggurat pyramid building across the river, and Tower Bridge in the distance. And the location was just about perfect, in the Old Sacramento waterfront and historical district. Yes, touristy, but we were tourists during our stay so we absolutely took advantage of it, exploring the diverse shops and eateries nearby among our many destinations for the weekend. The customer service at the hotel was wonderful, from the moment we walked on board, every employee greeted us with a smile and offered assistance. The front desk explained where to find anything we would need during our stay and how things worked. I even lost my keys while staying at the hotel, and the employees made the effort to make sure they found their way back to me. The lobby has free unlimited water and the rooms on the third floor are great because it's only steps away from the lobby and entrance. The rooms were not as small as I had imagined. They're not like cruise ship rooms where you can barely move inside the room and the restroom. These were more than satisfactory, bigger and better than some SF and NY hotel rooms I've stayed at. And these were probably the cheapest rooms on the ship. So it was definitely a pleasant surprise. There were just a few outlets in the room, but it was sufficient. The air conditioning ensured a comfortable temperature. And the restroom was small but not super cramped and tiny, enough space to move around. Not a lot of counter space though, and no lock on the restroom door.  They don't provide housekeeping services, unless you request it by a certain time each day. And they offer free breakfast at the Pilothouse Restaurant before 10am, either dine-in or takeout (of course we took it back to the room), including juice and coffee, nothing too extraordinary, but it's included with the stay. They also have a bar on the boat, but it closes around 10 or 11pm (depending on the day), which is early to me, so we opted to explore other nightlife options in Sac instead. We just had our wedding at the Delta King and I would absolutely recommend it as a venue for all types of events! We got to tour several of their rooms to pick the one that suited our guest count and budget best. Rachel guided us through everything from picking out what food we wanted at a tasting to choosing from a plethora of napkin colors. It's because of her that everything went so well and I couldn't thank her or her staff enough. The food (crab cakes, lumpia, sirloin and shrimp) was great and they brought out more fresh food once we finished the first tray. Our bartenders were also amazing and kept all of our guests in great spirits. Captain Jim also had a wonderful speech that we got to help craft alongside him, which meant a lot to us. Being able to accommodate a wheelchair for a family member was something that we emphasized was important to us and all of the staff was so sweet about it. They all helped make this event as stress-free as possible and if I had to do it all again, I would still pick the Delta King. read more

I was blown away by the amazing staff on the Delta King. My gf and I spontaneously decided to head to Old Sac for the day. We left in the morning, so by early afternoon I was overdressed (it was around 90 degrees). We sat outside at first, which was a terrible idea - way too hot. It wasn't an issue though, our hostess happily accommodated our request to switch tables. The table service was also excellent. Despite being very busy, our server managed to attend to all of their tables efficiently AND was super friendly and personable. A little while into our meal, the hostess reappeared. She had found some Delta King promo t-shirts and brought them over to us and let me pick one to change into so I could ditch the sweater! At no charge! I was so grateful and that act of kindness made my entire day. Overall, it was a memorable experience. Food and drink were good, and prices reasonable given the location. Santa Breakfast. oOur first time today with our 5-1/2 year old grandson. The Good: A great bartender. A really great and patient Santa. Nicely decorated tables. Cons: Buffet line stalled. Out of sausage, bacon, eggs and French toast. Not good. Food not coming out of the kitchen fast enough to meet the needs of the pre-sold venue (in other words, they knew how many guests would be there and should have staffed the kitchen accordingly). It took way too long to clear the tables after the food service. When asked the staff, we were told "We are still focusing on the food right now". Again, they knew how many guests would be there and should have staffed accordingly. Poor planning on the part of the Event Planner. Sorry, not sure I'd recommend this one. read more

I thought my experience from the moment I arrived was perfect. I found this place on Yelp. I never knew it existed and drove 5 1/2 miles to get there. My room was huge and the shower pressure made me want to stay in there longer. I also enjoyed my view of the river on the 4th floor room 430 from 10/07-10/09 I slept like a baby and my room was super cold at first but my body got use to it. (You can't control the temperature). My tv didn't work at first but I monkeyed around with the cable box and it managed to update and I had a huge selection of movies. I watched Tango and Cash, Matrix, Impractical Jokers, Star Wars, it had so many good shows to watch when I was in the room in my resting state of mind. I went to the diner at 0730 on 10/08 and 0730 on 10/09 and both times the waiter was the same. He had a great smile and he was very inviting. On 10/08 I sat there in the restaurant with a view of the boats going by. The cook was very funny when he handed me my steak and eggs. He chatted a bit and later on he saw me on the street with the same bubbly personality he had in the morning 8 hours ago. On 10/09 I went there to try the complimentary breakfast since I was going to have a long drive ahead of me and didn't want to be to full. It came with a muffin, yogurt, and some fresh fruit. Definitely hit the spot and took it back to my room. The people I spoke to were all friendly. From the valet to the man with a mop. Yes, let me tell you that I spoke to a man cleaning up the restaurant. He too provided a lasting impression on me. The valet was easy to talk to and I tipped him to take the car away and also I tipped him when he retrieved the car. On 10/07 when I checked in the person behind the counter was a woman who complemented me on my bag I brought my clothes in. (Looks like a paper bag but it's actually recyclable) "Trader Joes" I give her 5/5 The man who works at night wasn't pleasant to talk to but I avoided him by not stepping into the lobby. In the mornings I would go in and an elderly man was there. I bought a Starbucks cold drink from behind the counter and he was nice. I'd stay there again and hope I would encounter him again. When it was time to check out on 10/09 that woman glowed when I spoke to her. She also called the valet to get my car so it would be ready when I came out of the boat. (Sure it's her job but I'm telling you I wanted to stay one more night to talk to her). 100% I'll return again. I went for my birthday outing. Our company had our holiday lunch here and while I was glad to have tried this place, I wish we went somewhere else. It is definitely a boat. The ceilings are low, some of the doors are very small, and the room where we ate tilted to one side. I felt tensed up the entire lunch trying to hold my body upright. It had an old style restaurant ambiance that is sometimes great, but this place felt musty. The single person helping our gigantic party of 40 people did his best. He was polite and professional. We had 3 choices for our lunch and I chose the chicken. I was glad I did because the steak of some of my coworkers was way undercooked for my taste. The chicken was dry, but the flavor was fine. However, my portion was tiny so I left the lunch hungry. The tiramisu was good. The portion was lacking again though. My husband and I stayed at The Delta King on Saturday, July 27th. A lot about this stay and experience on The Delta King with their Murder Mystery Dinner. We liked our room (room 520). The room looked mostly clean, there was debris on the window sills and finger prints on the bathroom mirror. The room also had a really funky smell. What we were really unhappy with, is that there is no type of security to prevent people from the streets to come on board at all hours of the night. The doors to the area of the hotel rooms are open and unlocked. At 4am, people came on board, sat right outside our room and passed a bottle of alcohol between them. They were wrestling and bumping up against our room walls. They were not hotel guests and they were so loud, we couldn't go back to sleep. We were surprised that there aren't security measures (like key cards for guests to access the hotel area) to prevent this from happening. The Murder Mystery on the Delta King that night was chaotic! The event was overbooked and food safety was in question. Servers brough bread in a basket but no tongs and we were at a shared table with many strangers. bread was passed around while people reached in with hands. Also, salad came out and it was warm and wilted - but the dressing, which was a cream dressing, was sitting on the table when we were seated. That communal dressing boat was on the table in a warm room for over an hour before salad was served. The dinner did not get better. Chicken was completely overcooked. Dessert looked like a mess. And this was just the dinner. The event was in a room with little to no ventilation. Everyone was extremely hot! Guests were fanning themselves with table props and direction papers, anything they could find. One actor was soaked completely through his clothing and dripping sweat. Guests were expected to leave seats to participate, but there were so many people, it was almost impossible to move about. We couldn't wait to get out of that room, and we heard many guests saying the same thing. To attend the murder mystery event on the Delta King and to stay the night, this evening cost us about $600 which included valet, dinner tickets and the no host drinks. We would have hoped for a better experience. To be fair, we wrote management to give them our feedback and we got nothing in response and it's been more than two weeks. We hope this review helps people make an informative decision about staying on The Delta King or attending the Murder Mystery on board. read more
