Our food took over an hour and a half to come and our server Leslie G was very rude. Busy or not, doesn't excuse attitude. I ordered a pork pita and got chicken, when I told Leslie, she just said it was the same price, didn't want to fix the problem at all. Sadly this place's service has gone way down. Never coming back. My wife and I have been coming here for years. We watched the veggie pie we had ordered sit for 10 minutes and get cold. Also they no longer offer bread with their nice potato/garlic spread-now you need to order pita bread to get it. This place is a great place for yummy Greek food! If you love feta cheese, this is the place to go! They put a big slab on the Greek salad and it's so good! Everything we tried was great. They make a grilled cheese for kids on a pita and we get that for ourselves now when we go as an appetizer! It's right on Main Street in Livermore and they have a nice outdoor area. I made a reservation for 6 people at 8:30PM on Fri 2/24 on Yelp. I then called Demitris directly to change the time to 7:30PM. I called twice to make sure the reservation was confirmed. When we showed up at the restaurant the folks there just denied even talking to me over the phone (I even showed them my phone log) and they insisted that they did not have any reservation for us. We were very disappointed since we had to find some other restaurant for dinner for 6 on a busy Friday evening. It is very unlikely we will go there again although we used to love their food and have gone there many times before. I hope you don't have to go through the experience we did. read more

The food was decent but I was bummed by the service or lack there of. My complaint is not with the food. It's very tasty and our meals were all delicious. BUT we felt super rushed! Our empty plates were getting picked up before we were done. I had to grab back my salad from the bus person because I wasn't finished. Please let your wait staff understand that when everyone at the table eats at at different pace, those who are the slower eaters feel rushed and it makes the meal less enjoyable. read more

I ordered a pork gyro togo and got to enjoy it outside in the new "outdoor dining" set-up. I'm a big fan! I called in my order after checking out the menu online; it was easy to navigate and the food menu was super detailed, which was very helpful for my first visit. When I got there to pick up my food, I saw the signature cocktails menu. I wish their drinks menu online had included this as I may have been interested in ordering one of them!! The food was really good. The right temperature (freshly made), the right amount (enough for if I was really hungry but also I could have leftovers if it had been a snack), and a good value(good portions size for the price point). The pork tenderloin was well seasoned and very well cooked. I often find myself choosing beef over pork because pork can be dry, but this meat was still moist and cooked all the way through. The seasoning was hearty enough that it could have been eaten as a stand alone item, which was very nice as the vegetables and tzatziki sauce are mild flavors that really benefit from the bold meat seasoning. I'm excited to try more of the menu on my next visit! read more

The Gyro and the sauce is delicous! Meat and pita are tender and the flavors all go really well together. Staff is super nice and down to earth. My family opened a clothing alterations shop in downtown Livermore and I've been doing a food tour to see where we'll be ordering our lunches and some dinners. We got our order to go and the sauce isn't runny or oily like I've experienced at some other Gyro places, so there was no sogginess to the pita which is an added bonus for any to go order. I've going to Demitris for over 15years. My go to meal is the Gyros pita wrap, Demitris garlic fries and a cold beer.

We came here to celebrate my graduation from university. I was craving Greek food so we decided to visit Dimitri's Taverna located in downtown Livermore. At the time when we arrived, there was a wait to be seated at a table. This was during the early stages of the reopening phases so some tables had to remain vacant due to COVID protocols. The wait was supposed to be 15 minutes but ended up being slightly longer at 20 minutes. No big deal. As an appetizer we ordered multiple dishes but in my opinion I really enjoyed the sloppy fries the most. Be careful with what you order because their portion sizes are very large! You may fill up on an appetizer alone. The sloppy fries are especially large in size. As an entrée, I had the Chargrilled Chicken Blue. It was very well cooked and tasted great. I was a huge fan of this specific dish. Our server was very nice and she made sure we were okay. The pricing is typical of a restaurant so none of it came as a surprise. When we were in there is was pretty busy. However, after a bit of being in there it emptied out because we came kind of late. I would definitely return here for another meal. read more

Was glad to see them busy, but it did mean the hostess was slow to acknowledge us--enough so that we nearly left. Our waiter was slow and didn't check on us, we had to grab his attention each time but they seem busy so I'll let it go. (Waiter was more focused on party of 8 behind us having a party - drinking and loud). The whipped potatoes and garlic that came with bread once seated was delicious. The lamb pops were perfectly done and seasoned. Moussaka had creamy cheese topping, layers of eggplant and lamb and bottom crust of potatoes. Portion sizes are very generous. My husband and I are light eaters but our entrees (with everything included)last for 3 meals each. The included medley of perfectly cooked vegetables are, as with everything else, seasoned perfectly, nothing is too salty. Mousakka is so satisfying. Every ingredient is singing with a silky béchamel topping. The best I've had. Lamb chops are delicious and cooked as ordered. Warm rice and pita-perfect accompaniments. Okay... not great. I've had the Caesar salad a few times and tried to convince my boyfriend that this place is good. We went today with some friends and the service was nice but forgetful, often times servers coming one right after the other to ask is we needed to order more- we just had a few mins before. There seems to be disorganization but it didn't lead to better food or service. As an ops manager it just stinks to see people trying hard with no leadership and the service sucks as a result.
