I love our viewguard security door from Mike's Mobile! The process was very simple though it did take a little over a month to get the door. That makes sense though because it's custom sized to my extra tall doorway and it's also a custom green color to match trim around my home. Love it! It doesn't BANG closed like the old school security doors I've had in the past and honestly it doesn't look like a "security" door at all. I'm very comfortable leaving my door wide open and getting a breeze without worrying about randos wandering in. A wonderful young man named Marcos came exactly when he was scheduled, and not only did a great job on a screen replacement but when I pointed out the problem I had been having with just trying to open the door because it would get stuck and I couldn't even open it. I hired Mike's Mobile for a chimney inspection, based on the yelp reviews. But I had the most frustrating and useless customer service from them, and I hope to save other people from the wasted time and money of using their service. The woman on the phone convinced me to sign up for the level 2 inspection, and explained that it would last about 90 minutes and include dropping a camera down the chimney to take internal pictures and an inspection of the attic. The day of inspection, the technician's vehicle broke down, and he arrived many hours late. That was fine, except he did a twenty-minute inspection that didn't include many of the steps that were named in the call. Still, he declared our fireplace unfit to use, and said we'd receive the written report over email the next day. A week later, I still hadn't received the report. I called, waited on hold for ten minutes, gave up. Called again the next day, waited for fifteen minutes, finally talked to someone. She emailed the report, which was incomplete and sloppily done, but said she couldn't help me with my concerns about the inspection itself. She said she'd notify the people who could authorize refunds and have them call me on Monday. Another week went by, I heard nothing. I emailed and said that I was getting really angry with the runaround. I finally heard back from someone two days later, but by then I was going out of town and the holidays were starting. So a couple of weeks later, I called again and asked for Nicole, who I'd been told could actually help me. I was told she would call me back in about ten minutes. A few hours later, she called me back, and I explained the whole situation to her, again. She explained the report more clearly--and basically told me that the level one repair, which was over $4000, would only last "a couple of seasons," but the $8000 repair would last "10-20 years." I asked why they would offer a repair that wouldn't last more than a year or two, and she was silent; honestly, this felt like a scam to me, a way to try to get people to pay for the more expensive repair. So I moved on from that, and said that given all the hassle, all the way through, I would like a refund for this service. Not because I didn't like the report, but because I didn't trust it or them, and it did not feel right to be out $250 for absolutely nothing but hassle. She then said she couldn't authorize refunds. I'd waiting weeks to speak to this person, and she had no authority to help me. She called her manager and he said he could authorize a reinspection or a $50 credit. A reinspection from a company who has repeatedly broken trust is is not something I have any interest in, and if they actually trusted their own employee's quick surface assessment of the situation that I needed $8000 in repairs, why were they offering another employee's thorough inspection? A $50 credit, after weeks of runaround and bad customer service all through the situation, also didn't feel right. I said I'd prefer to just write on Yelp and try to protect other people from wasting their money and time with this company. He came back with an offer of $100 credit if I promised not to share my experience on Yelp. I said that given that they were charging me for a service I genuinely don't think they ever offered in good faith, paying anything didn't feel right, and trying to pay me off so I wouldn't share a negative experience with other potential customers also didn't feel right. This is the worst experience I've ever had with any home repair service, and I hope my $250 will save you from the save money and time suck I experienced with this company. read more
