Read about this place on Yelp. Most reviews are very positive, so I decided to give it a shot, and let me say I'm very very glad I did. It definitly gives you that old pizza place feel inside, which is comfortable. The pizza is outstanding, real Italian style pizza with a nice crunchy thin crust and a sweet and flavorful sauce. I got the "medium" buffalo chicken and my daughter got a medium proscuttio and both were outstanding. The "medium" is basically everybody else's large. The chicken were big chunks that were cooked perfectly, not dried little scrapings that most places give you and the proscuttio was salty which worked perfectly with sauce. After searching for something in the area that was open after 10:00 pm. I was pleasantly surprised that Denly's was open until 12:00 am. We were greeted with a warm welcome and sat in a comfortable booth by the window. We ordered a greek salad and half Tuscon and half Napoli Pizza. We also got two full glasses of wine that were excellent! The pizza was a perfect example of thin crust italian pizza. Simple with quality and care put into it. The crust was crispy, light, thin and full of flavor. The sauce was sweet and fresh. The toppings were just right. fresh tomatoes, basil,garlic and mushrooms. The mozzarella was great. If you want your pizza to be swimming in grease go to dominoes or some other terrible chain...Denly's is the best pizza ive had in years! This place is a family run neighborhood pizza joint that treated us like friends..They have a great menu and its obvious they take pride in their food. Ive been on the west coast were the pizza just isnt very good. I was really missing some authentic pizza and I found what I was looking for at Denly's. They have a great old school atmosphere thats not corporate or pretentious. This place represents everything good about america. After about 4 visits to this place, I think we have officially made our last. Initially we came here for the same reason as everyone else - the pizza. Finally a place that is different than most, not ANOTHER boring Greek style pizza place. This place does know what thin crust and "well done" mean. However as good the pizza is, this review is about our service experience, and it's about the response the owner posted to a recent 1 star Yelp review (if you're reading this, you may have already seen it) Tried to eat here on a Friday evening with my family. As expected it was busy but we were given a booth quickly (well, the waitress pointed to one and said "you can sit over there"). No problem. We had only about an hour to eat, which should be more than enough for pizza and cokes. After sitting down, it was a full 15 minutes before the waitress even acknowledged us (unless you count her pointing to the booth). We tried to place our order right away and said we were in somewhat of a hurry. The waitress then said we should probably eat somewhere else because it was going to be at least 45 minutes for a pizza. (Really?) At least she told us. It wasn't so much what she said as how she said it - it felt like we were an inconvenience to her because we were in a hurry. So, we took her advice and left (nice job - you might have suggested an alternative dish that could have been prepared quicker) I wish this was an isolated incident, but it wasn't. On out prior visit, dinner took about 2 hours - not a Friday night either. Again, good pizza is hard to find around here so we overlooked. I might have forgotten this last experience and ended up returning (because - Pizza). However, after reading the owner's response to an earlier 1star Yelp review, it is clear this place is really only meant for locals. Let me clarify, I've lived in Weymouth for many years but did not feel like a local - they caters to be immediate neighborhood only, tucked away as they are without easy parking, lends itself to walk-in crowd. Which again, is fine. The other 1 star Yelper notes the long waiting time and unfriendly service. I understand it can be difficult to serve quickly when a restaurant is busy, but isn't that good for business - when it's crowded? ? Shouldn't you be even more aware of treating customers with respect so it stays crowded?? Anyway - The owner's response took me completely by surprise - the general tone of his response was that of "you probably shouldn't eat here if you're not a local". And he spends time defending the town of Weymouth in the response. Working class heros?? As a Weymouth resident, I'm aware this town has its good and bad sides. And though the reviewer was a bit harsh calling it white trash, he did make some valid points about the town. There is a real sense of apathy amongst the food establishments here (though there are a few exceptions). As a resident, I generally don't like to give poor reviews to locally owned places, but I don't think this owner really cares. As for the town - anyone who has tried to power their way through Columbian Square at rush hour, or had to quickly shuffle past the shady residents from the projects near Walmart, or been cut off on 18 by the fine drivers here, can tell you that Weymouth is not all working class heros who have a great "sense of camaraderie". Plenty good but hard to find bad. Never, ever should a business owner blame his customers who complain. Criticism comes with the territory. Good pizza only gets you so far. True your business has lasted many years, but if you continue to alienate customers I doubt that will always be so. Living in Quincy your dump elucidation has no merit buddy! I have reviewed Denlys in the past and am a huge fan. Our sit down pizzeria! I came upon this link again because I am planning a trip to NYC later this year and was researching pizza. I read an article about the oldest pizzerias in America and someone had posted "what about Denlys Garden". From what I see Denlys has been around since 1933 and the list had pizzerias from 1936. Where is Denlys? Please google oldest pizzerias in America and take a look if interested. I am sure Denlys Garden does not need the fanfare as it is always busy! I give a big thumbs up to this place! Yes it is old inside but I find in charming. Yes It takes a while to get the pie but this is no Dominoes. I believe this place is worth a try to any pizza fan! So I went to Denlys the other night and was very disappointed. First off the pizza was subpar, I got the buffalo chicken pizza and it was soupy and as thin as paper. Second our waitress didn't come over to our table at all, only to take our order and to hand us the check. The only good part of the experience was after my food was sent back the bartender came over and offered me dessert or something else to eat and he said he could make anything, he was very polite nice and respectful and genuinely wanted to make it better. I won't be going back to Denlys anytime soon but that does not mean I will never go back because it was only one time that I've had bad food that I didn't like or that I had to send back from there I've been there multiple times and I've enjoyed.Just one bad night sorry Denlys! read more

I order here all the time BUT the dine in isn't the best the food was great but the booths were probably the original booths from 1933 completely this nautical blue it was also very poorly run they had what I had thaught was 2 waiters and it took forever for the food to come even though there weee two other people in there also it was cramped for four people other than that the pizza is awesome just order it and come pick it up other than dining in its great food! read more

Hidden jewel! This little pizza joint is tucked away on a side street near Jackson Square in East Weymouth. The pizza is thin crust and delicious, better than any other pizza I have tried on the south shore. They have a few tables but we have only ordered it to go. I like the prosciutto and basil pizza, and the artichoke one. This is a great neighborhood joint, with a full liquor license. good selection of beers and wine. Helpful staff, and reasonable prices. They use corn meal under the crust, and do a great job cooking the pizza. Even if the edge of the crust might be a little bit dark, the rest of the crust is good, a sure sign of a good pizza! But you have to rely on old Haunts to please the palate every now and then, Denly Gardens use to be an Old Time Joint you could depend on, now, The Cooks are bringing it down, WAY DOWN. If its not the cooks then whoever the boss is should step aside and hire someone to run the kitchen before its too late, actually it might be already, last month I went alone had a glass of wine The Meatball appetizer and an Antipasto, The Red Sauce is exactly that ,Red Sauce. Terrible, No Flavor, Nothing added to enhance any kind of Italian Recipe, Blahzee as they Say, anyone can open a can of kitchen ready and heat it up, and thats about all they did, seriously you are not impressing anyone and if they said they were, They Were Lying. The Meatballs were OK nice chunks of Onion some Oregano and a decent consistency, But without the Gravy to Back it up What Good are They? The Antipasto was Horrendous, Large masses of bad smelling Iceberg Lettuce you needed a Steak Knife to cut, 30% of the lettuce was brown, anyway it takes practice and a little patience to make Antipasto, if your gonna slap together crap and still make me wait 30 minutes only to have 2 pieces of OLD SALAMI stuck to the bottom of the plate, You Can Keep It. I will Say My Waitress was exceptionally Kind, courteous and attentive as well as silently apologetic. WOW nice change, the cakes were obviously bought in a box Frozen , although served piping hot, no flavor of a real crab cake whatsoever, the garnish was interesting, tarter sauce on Mixed greens that were actually fresh, nice touch but cakes were garbage.Entrees served while on first crab cake. didn`t bother me. Pasta Primavera looked good, Tomatoes were sliced cold and served cold, Absolutely NO Flavor to any of it , So half of the Parmesan cheese in the shaker helped flavor it. Now I really dont know what to say about the sausages, A medium sized oval China Dish, with 2 thinnly sliced sausages burned to a crisp they couldn`t have started bigger than my thumb, 2 or maybe 3 CHERRY PEPPERS quartered, with stems still on dumped into a Saute pain 3 seconds before coming off the fire, in the YES round corner of the plate sat approximately a 1/4 cup of Green Extra Virgin Olive Oil with Floating Black Cherry Pepper Seeds in it, ( burned GET IT ). You Bet It was Spicy, SPICY GARBAGE !!!!!! Guys JUST BECAUSE CHERRY PEPPERS COME IN VINEGAR THAT DOES NOT MAKE THEM VINEGAR PEPPERS !!!!! So My Daughter put some pasta on it, and dumped the rest of the shaker on it, soaked up the Oil with the see through napkins prior too, HEY HO WHAT DO YA KNOW , now I need more Garlic Bread, God Help Me , I waited more than 17 minutes for that garlic bread to try and shovel in that crap, when the waitress came back with it I said what did they have to grow the garlic? I felt really Bad , She just walked away. This LOAD of bread was so soaked with butter it dripped down my chin, not to mention we already had our entree, why make us wait, I had not yet complained. It is still cash only, but they take personal checks. This place is classic, paper plates and napkins, has not been updated in years. Man that pizza is great, the crust is so crispy and the topping seemed fresh and plentiful. We had the pizza bianca (white pizza with sausage and mushrooms) and it was excellent. The price was great, Pizza, app, a soda and a few beers for under $30. The only real miss was the wings, they had a very light coating of buffalo sauce and were not very good. I had no idea that the parking lot was across the street, it would have been helpful to have a sign telling me to park there, but I guess that is part of the charm and what keeps it a locals place. I live in the North End, and someone recommended I try the pizza at Denlys in Weymouth. I could not have been more pleased! I went with a group and we tried the antipasta, which had fresh ingredients and a variety of olives, fresh mozzarella, olives, stuffed peppers and more. Also, we ordered the garlic bread, which comes with marina dipping sauce, and I loved it. We tried four different pizzas and could not decide which one was best. The crust was crispy but not burned, and each pizza was piping hot. I was surprised by the beer selection as well, there is a great variety. I felt like I had discovered a real gem, and after trying many different places in the North End, I know that if Denly's was in my neighborhood, the line would be much longer than Regina's. To round out the excellent experience, the staff was friendly, and the other customers were families and likely local regulars. I think the neighborhood has kept Denly's a secret, and would prefer if everyone in Boston did not know this restaurant was hidden away in Weymouth. Finally, when the bill came, we were surprised to see that with multiple appetizers, drinks, and four pizzas, (including leftovers) the price was more than reasonable. I recommend anyone take the trip down there to just experience the atmosphere and try one of the many pizzas. I'm very happy I went and will go back when I have the chance. read more

Over the years they have added to the menu besides pizza, honestly it wouldn't matter to me because the pizza alone is worth a drive. Beware, if you are a snob or cant handle eating and drinking with the blue collar folk and townies in a building that has seen better days, then it wont be for you. The old building and the charm and character it has is all part of the experience. When you walk inside you feel like you have stepped back in time to simpler days when grabbing a pizza and cold beer was simple and you didnt have your choice of 100 micro brews or things you cant pronounce on your pizza. Its about the PIZZA, big round italian style thin pizza with crispy airy light crust. I've heard some give it a bad rap because of the old decor and lack of updating. Not everything needs to be new. I guarantee if they stuck this building in downtown Hingham that people would say how chic and quaint it is, but because it is in Weymouth (a blue collar old fashioned working mans place) it gets a stigma. Keep doing things your way Denlys crew, please dont ever change or sell out. I know enough locals and those that grew up around here that can keep you in business forever. Prices are outstanding, Pizza to die for, and always a chance of seeing someone you recognize, I'd give this place 10 stars if I could. used to be good a long time ago, as far a pizza goes, went there after a long time away due to the change in there pizza. today is sunday only 4 customers there at 2pm, that should have told me something right there, pizza is thinner than cardboard and tastes like cardboard, burnt cant be folded with out breaking,, the crust was actually black,, like forgetting toast in the toaster set on high....i can usually eat 4 pieces of a large pizza and look for more, i had to force myself to eat 3 pieces of this only because it was paid for. even my wife who would never say anything bad about a place says that is it never again. the service is fine the beer is cold but forget the pizza if you go try something else. read more

Have been going to Denly's for years...went on a Friday night- sat right down and the waitress was great. Told us there would be a 45 minute wait on pizza and so we ordered a large pepperoni and a medium cheese and because of the wait we also got the baked mozzarella and a greek salad. Salad and baked mozzarella was fantastic but after waiting almost an hour we asked for our pizzas. The owner?/bartender said he would look into it and when he finally got back to us told us it would be another 15 minutes or so. We told him we had been waiting well over an hour for 2 basic pizzas and his response was that take out was really busy. I have worked in restaurants my whole life..in what world do you have the people in the place wait (holding up tables, tips and turnover diners) to make sure you serve take out quickly? And then when there is a complaint how can the manager not just grab the next cheese and pepperoni pizza and serve it to the table right away and then move on with take out? So when we heard that it would be another 15 minutes we canceled the order and got up to leave. He then had the nerve to charge us for the salad and the baked mozzarella and the 3 soda we had...really poor management all around. If I were the waitresses there I would think about going somewhere where you have the opportunity to actually make money on your tables. I have ordered Denly's twice since I live in the neighborhood. The first time I ordered was a pepperoni pizza. It has been a few months since then, but the only thing memorable was the dry crust. I ordered again to make sure the first time was not a fluke. This time my wife ordered a pizza with basil and prosciutto. The pizza was more like a dry cracker with a thin dry layer of pizza sauce with what looked like remnants of mozzarella cheese. I noticed some small bacon like pieces. I presume that was supposed to be prosciutto. I think they took a slice of prosciutto and mozzarella and spread it around the whole pizza - very chintzy! What I ended up getting was a dry mess that should never have left any self-respecting restaurant without some sort of apology. My pizza did not end up looking like any of the pics associated with Denly's. It may have been two flukes in a row, but I am not going to make it a third time. I am surprised...I have been told by locals and on-line reviews that Denly's was pretty good? If you decide to give Denly's a try, please do yourself a favor and inspect the pie before you leave.
