a plate with a sandwich and hash browns

This Denny's is in the Fleetwood area and has been around for a couple years. This was my first visit with family. It has been a few years since I last dined at a Denny's. The menu selection is larger than what I last remembered. We ordered the moons over hammy sandwich, classic benny, junior grand slam, and orange juice. The orange juice was a bit overpriced for Minute Maid at $4.39 for a glass. The junior grand slam was the perfect size for our toddler to enjoy a meal. The moons over hammy brings back a lot of nostalgia for me. I used to love this during my college days and before I became a foodie exploring other non-chain options. My husband ordered the classic benny. There was a generous amount of hollandaise sauce and perfectly soft poached eggs. Service was good. Our server stopped by a couple times to check up on us and clear dirty plates. The restaurant was very busy by the time we left at 10 am. Definitely, this is a busy restaurant during the weekend brunch time.

I am sure all or most of us at least been to a Denny's restaurant nearby or somewhere close by once in our lifetime. Before the pandemic, this is the place to come to for an early morning meal or a late night snack when everywhere is closed. Well at least for my buddies and me when we where growing up and still do once awhile. I have to say each location varies a bit in term of service and quality of food. This is the new location in Surrey and came here a couple of times when it first opened during the Covid restrictions. It's one of the cleaner and younger staffs servicing this location. Anyways, here were the food we ordered during our last visit; 1. The sampler. I chose the chicken strips, fries and mozzarella sticks. Pretty fresh and decent and I always like their mozzarella sticks here since I was a kid. 2. Ultimate omelette. Pretty good, one of my favourite omelette to order here, but came a bit messy. 3. Lumberjack slam. Everywhere was okay except the bacon was over done. 4. Oreo milkshake. Pretty basic 5. Side of sausage links. Ordered it but never came, forgot to check the bill if they charged me or not. Overall, one of the newest location in Surrey so it's quite spacious and clean inside. The service was decent but could be a little more attentive in offering a refill. The food came pretty fast, nice and hot. They open till 11pm I believe but that's during the Covid restrictions period, might have changed but I don't think any Denny's opened 24 hours anymore.

Strawberry vanilla filled Crepe breakfast (order for 2 crepes), and a tea.

Overall: Loved Gyubee so much!!! Our server was Iris, so kind and very knowledgeable about the menu…read moreand super accommodating with whatever we were interested in and questions we had!!! FOOD: Food was so yummy! We got the lunch menu and we tried everything! I really loved the marinated beef options! I recommend doing the non-marinated meets first and then working to the marinated meets to not only preserve the grill (even though you can change them out) but with how heavy and more complex the flavors get, I believe thats my best route always! They had cold noodles, which comes in a small, single serving bowl. I loved having that first as an appetizer because it was so refreshing, especially on such a hot day! We also got the ssamjang and lettuce to accompany our meats, best choice ever!! The butter corn was super yum too, not too overwhelming or heavy! What we did was we finished the butter corn and added garlic, that you can get for free, and crisped it in there! Not only does it add flavor, but if you want to toast it, it wont fall through the grill! They also have a plum margarita which I tried and it was super yum! I think a lot of people won't go for this option, but as someone who always loved salted plums and likes to try new things, I did not regret choosing this over whatever other popular drinks they had. This is my fav underdog! For dessert, I had the dough sticks (which they put as an appetizer) and ate it with the vanilla ice cream they offer (one per person!). Such a yummy combination. For another dessert option, they have almond milk, which was also delicious! If you're not familiar with this dish, the consistency is a cross between pudding and jello, where it's soft and pillow-y but holds its shape however way you scoop it. The taste is subtle, slightly sweet, overall so good. 10/10 for this food experience! AMBIANCE: This is a place that you shouldn't feel pressured to dress too nice in. T-shirt and jeans kind of vibe! But the aesthetic of the establishment itself could totally warrant cute pictures in a more dress-y outfit! SERVICE: Shout-out Iris! She was so sweet, so accommodating, constantly checked in with us, 10/10! Always making sure that whenever our plates started to look a little empty, she was there to take our order! Every question we had, every order we wanted, anything and everything Iris was there for us! So awesome, so sweet, thank you so much Iris for taking care of us!!!

I loved the crispy exterior with the sea salt on top, and the inside was so pillowy and buttery - then topped with the blue cheese butter... yum! So good. For my entree, I ordered the truffle tenderloin steak and my dining partner had the ahi tuna. We also added the Brussels sprouts and Brie mashed potatoes to share. A really cool feature is they bring over a selection of steak knives that you can choose from. I really love this concept and whoever thought that up is a genius. I chose a gorgeous, elegant-looking knife with a handle that looked like mother of pearl. The steak was easily one of the best steaks I've ever had. They shave black truffle directly on the steak when it's served, which adds such a nice richness. The sauce is also one of the better sauces I've had on a steak. It was so tempting to want to lick the plate! It was a cooked to a perfect medium rare and so tender. It's been a long time since I was really blown away by a great steak, but this just hit the mark in every way. The Brussels sprouts were great, but there was something in the dish that was a bit odd - almost like wasabi or something. It wasn't bad, it just had a kick that I wasn't expecting and made me cough a little bit. The potatoes were creamy and buttery but I did think the Brie flavour wasn't coming through enough. Maybe because all the other flavours on my plate were pretty strong. I didn't try the tuna but it looked beautiful and apparently tasted just as good. We finished off with a couple of desserts: the beehive pavlova and the crème brûlée, the latter being my typical go-to dessert. Unfortunately, I didn't really care for the salted caramel flavour here, but can't really put my finger on what exactly I didn't enjoy as I normally love salted caramel. One bite was enough for me. It looked amazing, though. I did enjoy the pavlova, but it wasn't a traditional style as it had ice cream inside instead of whipped cream. It was more like a baked Alaska without the flame. The flavours were good on this dessert, but I probably wouldn't order it again as I was really craving the more traditional pavlova. Service was good, but we did wait quite a long time after being seated before placing our order, and then waited again after dessert before getting our bill. We weren't in a hurry, but I think we were there for over 3 hours. Still a very enjoyable meal and I would definitely return for the steak alone.
