Dennys is always a delicious traditional meal. The 2468 menu is unbelievable. I always forget about it and then notice it after I order. I didn't forget this time. I ordered eggs in a basket: Over easy eggs fried into cheese bread, a hash brown scramble that includes bacon and cheese, and 2 pieces of bacon, all for $6. It is like the perfect order that I would create. Only thing about this special menu is that you cannot make any changes or substitutions to the order, which is a key advantage to ordering at Denny's. Nevertheless, without the ability to customize, it is a well thought out combo dish. The cheese bread was the only disappointment. It was essentially eggs inside the hole of a cheese bagel. I found the bread to be too dense, and there was just simply too much of it. Other than that, the plate was on point. I got a side order of sausage links, which is completely necessary in any case. I sometimes come here for pick up orders and today I went in with my daughter, she loves Claw machines because she thinks she'll get a prize out of them but THIS Machine is a RIP-OFF,, not only does it not claw anything but when I looked up my bank statement right after I used it it was described as VENDING machine $-5 (credit card) when it should only be $1 to play!!! I stepped back into the restaurant to let the manager know how much it charged my credit card and all he said was "I'm sorry this machine doesn't belong to Dennys" so he didn't even bother giving me the other $4 bucks back,,, like Wtf if you have any type of vending machines at your establishment you're responsible for how much they CHARGE!!! I'm glad it didn't fkn charge more money because apparently Dennys is not responsible for how much they're programmed to charge,, I'm annoyed! Never thought I'd be giving Denny's four stars, much less the one in Escondido, but here I am doing so. Matter of fact, I'd like to say it's now my parents' go-to breakfast spot in town. Ever since they introduced their 2,4,6,8 menu, it's beat all the other breakfast chains when it comes to value. I'd much rather come to Denny's than the other two IHOP's in town due to value, food, and service than those guys. What compelled me to write this review and ultimately give them a four was the experience with our server Ashley. She was the most helpful, informative, and accommodating a server has ever been at a Denny's. She even busted out her Spanish skills when it was my mom's turn to order. You can always count on Denny's to be A-OK. this particular location in Escondido was no better or worse than any others. I ordered the French toast slam and it was quite good, but nothing special. The coffee was hot and plentiful. And, the service was excellent. I came in on a Sunday, so it was quite busy but they were fairly efficient in their seating assignments. Because in Southern California, the air-conditioner is always on. The problem with that is that when it is cold and drizzling outside you're freezing throughout the whole meal and the food gets cold quicker. We used to frequent this location. It used to be really good 5yrs ago. It went down hill for a long time. We have been there 2 weeks in a row. Today, there was ni wait. Waitress was nice. However, short girl (the one with highlights hair pulled up a bun, digging inside the right side of her mouth. I was hoping that she was a dishwasher or cleaning, but she was actually stocking strawberries and grapes not wearing gloves. Her face mask down her chin just b's ing with the cooks. Dennys is best for Pancakes. Love the Pancakes, waffles and hash brown. The texture of pancakes and waffles is very soft. I love their whipped cream over the pan cake. Much better than iHop. This is the worst Denny's experience I have ever had!! I ordered the T-bone steak Breakfast, it came with hash browns, eggs and toast. They messed up on the steak and the eggs! And I would say the service sucked, butt it wasn't that good! The steak was over done (asked for it to be med rare) the hash browns weren't browned and were just glopped on the plate, I asked for the eggs to be over easy, but they came crispy on the edges and over cooked. The server did not refresh my coffee once, and I had to ask any passing server for more coffee. The catsup bottle was empty and all I got out of it were farts. My daughters order was messed up also, but not as bad as mine.
