OMG all we wanted was breakfast. We've been eating at Denny's forever - and I know it's not exactly a place to go for quiet conversation and intimate culinary experiences, but holy crap yesterday it was insane. My adult daughter and I went in, and the first thing we saw was a huge group of people with balloons, gifts, etc. for a 5 year old's birthday party. I asked the host to not seat us by that group. As we were walking toward the other side of the restaurant, 8 servers were singing happy birthday to another large group, and our hostess tried to seat us next to a table with one adult (probably dad) and three young kids. Now, dad did a smart thing by letting his kids each bring a toy. The two girls each had a doll or something, but the boy.... he had a freaking plastic HAMMER. Seriously, dad, what do you think he is going to do on the table the whole time, with a hammer? Father of the year, folks. People, if you're reading this because you're about to go out to eat, and you're letting your kids grab a toy to bring along, speaking as a representative of the human race, please don't let them bring a hammer. Of course, he is banging it on the table, so we ask to not sit by Thor, and instead there is a table toward the back. We sit at that one, and I KID YOU NOT there are two full grown men sitting at the next table making balloon animals. Like literally a huge stack of them. I know they give balloon animals to the kids there (because apparently it's a circus, not a restaurant) but I had no idea how LOUD the screeching and scraping of making balloon animals is. We left. Never going back. It is clear that the owner is trying to re-create the LA County Fair atmosphere, and a casual neighborhood diner is not on the priority list. We go to this Denny's every Tuesday as a large group of youth group leaders. We normally have 10-15 people with us. The staff at this particular Denny's is always very friendly and very welcoming. We normally go there late-night and the server on is named James. He is the man! Because it is late at night fried food is obviously the only choice and the Sampler (Chicken Strips, Mozzarella Sticks and French Fries) is a great choice. Top that off with the manliest "Cherry Cherry Limeade" you've ever seen and you got yourself a great night. read more

No birthday nothing..... just a lousy greeting...really ?? Showed my i.d. When we sat down and server took it, looked at it and just said ok, nothing else. He didn't say ur birthday only good for one thing only, he didn't say anything. He just said he'd be back in a couple minutes to take our order. We don't normally go to Denneys so we don't know anything except where someone told us you get a free meal on your birthday. He came back took our order, we got our food, we ate then he brought our check to the table and walked away. I waved in his direction for over 10 minutes to bring us a left-over box. We had to ask someone else to bring us one and asked her what was the free birthday deal. She said she would get our server. He finally came to our table and when we asked he said it was only good for one certain breakfast. Could of told us when we first sat down. Whatever, too late. No more Denneys for me. I come here often the waiters are great. The environment is very friendly and family oriented. But the manager is the worst. He doesn't greet or say anything to me when I go to the front to pay the check. I ask to use a coupon I have on my phone. He doesn't scan it and tells me it won't work. We had horrible service. The guy that first helped us went on break and never came back to our table he left us with a rude girl that never came to our table we had to go and get her twice. We never received our receipts. The register girl was also rude it was a group of us and when she was splitting the bill she called an order out and I said oh that's my friends and as I was about to grab the receipt she pulled back and didn't want to give it to me even though my friend was behind me.
