I almost left but decided to give it a try. The manager was busy making sure people weren't waiting too long for a table which was cool and we didn't wait too long for a table. Mind you it was a Friday afternoon and they were showing the World Cup which means it was very busy. Overall the restaurant was not that clean, the woman's restroom definitely needed to be tended too, and the menus were gross. The waitress who took our order was nice probably new, but she did ok and got our order right and prompt. The quality of the food was tasty. CPK was always one of our go to restaurants growing up and we hadn't been in a while. Our server was awesome. He did a great job and I really appreciate his hard work. The food was just okay. I feel like the portions are a lot smaller than they used to be. We had the bbq chicken pizza and the works. At the end of our visit, we had done a questionnaire and had been asked if the manager had visited our table. We had noticed he had been going around but somehow managed to skip us. Overall , the wait was longer than anticipated and everything came out randomly and we had to flag our server more than 5x to replenish our drinks and we didn't even have napkins and our utensils . I thought the names and the description of the dish that they would be bursting with flavor and have some type of sauce to bind it all together. I was sorely disappointed it was just a boiled pasta with no seasoning, not even salt. In the shrimp dish, the only thing that had flavor was the lemon juice on the zucchini and on the other dish NOTHING - it was positively Bland. You can tell from the pictures that we ate most of the shrimp dish because we were hungry, but we only tasted the chicken dish. I haven't been here in a long time, shout out to Richard for being a wonderful server. Great hospitality and energy. Before getting to the good, I wish a staff member could have said or done something about the three children treating the place like a playground. Running everywhere going around our tables and jumping onto empty booths, almost running into food runners. I get they probably couldn't physically do something because they are children but it did give a lot of reactions to other customers. Great food, great wine, and amazing service at CPK Victoria Gardens! We had such a wonderful dinner at California Pizza Kitchen at Victoria Gardens. We started with the Carne Asada Mac & Cheese, and it was absolutely delicious--so creamy, flavorful, and the carne asada was perfectly seasoned. For pizzas, hubby ordered the Carne Asada pizza and I had The Works pizza, and everything was amazing. The crust was perfect, the toppings were generous, and every bite was flavorful. The wine was yummy too, which made it such a relaxing and enjoyable meal. A huge shoutout to our server, Brandon--he was excellent! Alexis was our server and she went above and beyond! We came to visit for the fist time on Valentines Day 2026. We sat at the bar while waiting for a table and had our 8month old with us. I was so anxious someone would say something because we had the baby and he's at his peak of exploration! She was so kind and served us with a smile and constantly was checking on us. We ordered wine and beer and the corn guak as an app. She offered to give it to us without the Serrano peppers so our baby could eat it too! The restaurant was pretty noisy at the time, and they had televisions for viewing sports. The kids all got pizzas and they loved them. From the service/ the way we were greeted and seated right away... the food was so delicious. Huge portions. It was perfect. I was so good that when we came back home to Upland we decided we would visit this one in Rancho Cucamonga. It was so bad. Our service was crappy.. It took a while for someone to come over and take our drink order. Our dishes we ordered were absolutely terrible. An appetizer that we ordered was the chicken wraps. The manager actually dropped that off at our table and failed to tell us they no longer had wedge lettuce so she brought us our chicken wrap with thinly , stringy lettuce, which was so ridiculous, you can't wrap your chicken in strings of lettuce. She did not mention to us that they were out of wedge lettuce. So we were already upset by the way that no one greeted us and it took a while for someone to come over to our table .... Walked out feeling robbed. We got seated right away. My complaint is that it took half an hour to get our drinks. Then the girl got our food order totally wrong! She brought us artichoke dip, which we NEVER order because we don't eat dairy. We had ordered chips and guacamole. Took another half hour to get an appetizer. We visited California Pizza Kitchen on Valentine's Day hoping for a nice romantic dinner, but unfortunately it turned into one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had in a long time. We waited about an hour for a table, which we understood given the holiday rush. Our server was kind, but clearly overwhelmed and unable to keep up with the flow of service. The timing of everything throughout the meal was completely out of order -- our appetizer arrived at the same time as the entrees, and our drinks didn't come out until after the food had already been served. I ordered the chicken Alfredo, but the chicken was completely missing from the pasta. The pasta itself was dry and not very enjoyable. We also ordered the Valentine's heart-shaped pizza special along with drinks and a kids meal. Overall, the quality of the food just did not match what we remembered from years ago. I used to love the BBQ chicken pizza, guacamole, and the fried mac and cheese appetizer here, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. The biggest issue was feeling consistently neglected during the meal. Despite there being a lot of staff on the floor, everyone seemed exhausted and flustered by the end of the night. Our table often felt overlooked, and service seemed noticeably more attentive toward nearby tables. Consistency in customer service matters, especially on busy holidays when guests are spending their special occasions and money at your restaurant. I understand restaurant work is incredibly stressful during holidays -- I have 10 years of service industry experience myself -- so I do try to be understanding. Still, this experience was bad enough that we skipped dessert and left disappointed. I did attempt to follow up with the company afterward and missed a return call from manager Stefanie Moretti, so unfortunately we never got the chance to fully discuss what happened. I genuinely hope this location improves with better training and support for newer servers because this restaurant used to be somewhere I enjoyed dining. The service at this place has really gone downhill. Every time I come here, I end up waiting close to an hour for my food, or it takes an unusually long time just to have my order taken after being seated. Even when I order for pickup, there's rarely anyone at the front desk when I arrive. I've had to wait 15 minutes or more for assistance while servers walk by without acknowledging me, even when the restaurant isn't busy. The bartender is no better. He often sees customers waiting but doesn't acknowledge them or offer any assistance, despite having no one at the bar. The food is good, but unfortunately the service consistently falls short. It's been awhile since I've been to a CPK, but now I remember why I haven't been back - the service really lacks and it did for us too at a recent visit here. Came in on a weekend and we were all hungry, with a little kid in tow. We placed our name and was told it was going to be a 45 minute wait. Okay. So we waited, then they texted us about 30 minutes later. Got seated outside and were given menus. Then 5 minutes later, no one came. Then 10 minutes later, no one came. Then 20 minutes later, not one server came to us. Then we had to go back inside to ask the host if we can place our order. They told us a server would be coming by. And guess what? Another 10 minutes...THEN a server came by. This male server was so perky, didn't read our situation, and didn't even acknowledged that we had been waiting for like 40 minutes without service! So, we really just wanted to order. And again, we had a hungry child with us! Took our order finally and then brought us some waters. The food was fine. Got the BBQ Chicken Salad and the Mushroom Pizza. Both had good flavors and we all just tried to enjoy our meal. Then as usual, the server came over with the tab and said no rush blah blah, and placed the black book on our table. And guess what? Every 5-7 minutes, server dude kept coming back like ON THE DOT every time to eye on the tab. Like dude, we GET IT, but you didn't even offer us any take out containers and then went 180 on us when we said we had a gift card. Like the meal is pretty much paid, what's with the short attitude after that? And again, NEVER asked us for a take out container and we had to go inside and fetch out own! Came here last Friday at 9pm and waited about 30 mins to get seated for two people. This location gets pretty packed since it's located at Victoria Gardens. I decided to try their new braised short rib ragu and potato chicken pizza. I also got the white corn guacamole + chips as I had a free starter coupon. The free bread came first and I must say I really do enjoy their bread. Our waitress offered us more bread as she saw how much we liked it which was really nice of her. The guac came after and I thought the portion was a little off. There was way too many tortilla chips and not much guac but the guac was fresh and I enjoyed the white corns in it. The pizza and pasta came out at the same time. I really liked the braised short rib in the pasta as it was really soft and tender but the pasta sauce was just ok. It was good but nothing special. I really enjoyed the potato chicken pizza. This pizza was part of their limited time menu. The pizza contained potato, chicken, and rosemary in a lemon cream sauce as the base. I came to California Pizza Kitchen for my friend's birthday, and the whole experience was amazing from start to finish. I made a reservation one hour in advance for a party of 10, and the host was super helpful and had everything ready for us when we arrived, which already made things go smoothly. Our server Laura was truly INCREDIBLE. She made sure everything was perfect the entire night. She checked on us every 10-15 minutes, always making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. She kept bringing us fresh bread with oil and butter -- it was warm, flavorful, and so good. She also brought us ranch and cheese on the side without us even having to ask, which was such a thoughtful touch. We ordered two BBQ Chicken pizzas, a Four Cheese pizza, and a Pepperoni pizza, and Laura made sure all of our food came out fast and fresh. Once the pizza and bread was laid on our table, the waitress never came back until the very end when we were ready to leave. She didn't check to see if we had water. We can't have ice in water. I had to disrupt the waiter taking care of another table just to ask for water and plates to place our pizza on so we can eat. My mom was so irritated that I had to take the bread off its plate and hand the plate to my mom and put the bread on my husband's spaghetti plate. We come to dinner to relax not to be fighting as a customer for our needs to be met. There must've been some major issue in the back between the management and the chef and who knows what else. Even in front of the women's bathroom door had paper towels on the ground before going in. It was a mess of towels on the inside as well. The ambiance was okay, but I couldn't help but notice that the walls were covered in blue crayon, but that doesn't bother me, lol I would be upset though if someone let their kid draw on the walls and didn't say anything. Wow, it's been over 2 years since my last review. I'll do an update then... on take-out for a cake only. My sister-in-law was raving about California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) red velvet cake on 2023 Christmas Eve. She is not one to give credit where it's not worthy, but this cake has her double thumbs up vote. So I had to see and taste what the hype is all about. I called that same day to pre-order a whole red velvet cake. I didn't have to pre-pay for it over the phone which was kind of nice. Guess how much this cake cost me? Just guess LOL... Upon arrival and entry, I walked over to the Take Out area. Staff was welcoming. The red velvet cake was already bagged. The total bill was $75+. Yes, you read that right... $75+. This is the most expensive cake I've ever purchased so far in my life LOL. Since it was for my youngest brother's birthday and Christmas, money was no issue and it was worth it. What I didn't know is that this cake is pre-frozen. I guess it's made elsewhere, frozen, and unfrozen when it's time to sell them. It also comes pre-sliced with 12 slices which is quite convenient. It saves me from cutting from scratch. I checked how much it cost per slice... $8.99 per slice. If I did the math right, I saved about $30+ by buying the whole cake versus getting 12 individual slices. Christmas Day came and we had the cake at the restaurant. My sister-in-law was surprised that I bought the cake. She was so happy. I am glad I made her day LOL. I ended up cutting each slice in half in order to have enough for 17 adults and teenagers. There were 4 whole slices left so I distributed one for each family. It worked out nicely. Here's my take on the cake... cake was very moist, it wasn't too sweet, and the cream cheese frosting was delicious. Overall, it was a pretty good red velvet cake. As for the price, it was a tad high. Will I buy it again? Maybe only if it's for a big celebration. Thanks CPK for the out of this world RVC! read more
