Deep South Farm Bowl was a good lunch dish...but what i wouldn't f have given for a nice of cornbread & butter to go with it!

We decided to stop at Denny's since they seem to be disappearing everywhere. When we pulled in, we honestly thought the place might be closed -- the parking lot was completely empty. But after driving around and seeing the lights on, I told my wife it looked like they were still open. Inside, it felt like a ghost restaurant at 5:30 pm Friday. Only one table was occupied, but we decided to give it a chance. I checked Yelp, and most complaints were about poor service, which didn't exactly boost our confidence. We ordered our meals, and surprisingly, everything tasted great. The only disappointment with the food itself was the honey mustard -- it was filled barely a fourth of a tiny cup, which felt a bit ridiculous. The bigger issues, though, were the condition of the restaurant and the service. The booth seating was completely caved in. It's definitely time for new seating; the current ones are long overdue for replacement. Service was the biggest problem. Our waiter never checked on us, and we had to get up twice just to ask for drink refills. He spent most of his time on his phone, and since he was the only waiter working, the whole place felt abandoned. If management focused on improving customer service and updating the seating, I truly believe they could bring customers back. Today my aunt and I went back after being there a couple weeks ago. It was definitely less filthy than the last time, but it was still pretty dirty. I did see a young man with gloves and cleaning supplies starting to clean as I was leaving. The server that waited on us gets an A. Her name is Shay. She was hustling the entire time. Doing everything in the front dining room. She did it all with a smile. In my opinion, they're a little shorthanded and need to be remodeled. read more

This was the absolute worse experience I have ever had with at ANY dinner. I truly do not understand how any employee thinks it's okay to blast music and sing while working to the point where the patrons cannot even speak to each other. Music was not only loud but some of it was disgustingly vulgar rap music with cursing, after I requested from the waitress that the music be lowered, he kindly changed the genre to 80's pop music (Foreigner, Michael Jackson, The Police). The food was also not enjoyable, the fries were incredibly burnt, it was a party of 4, and we were both sharing a meal they did not bother giving us extra plates. I've never rated a restaurant before but our experience was so bad I wanted to let folks know. We arrived around 12:30, there were only 3 other booths with people. 3 men were right behind counter and as i stood there we were ignored, not a "hello welcome to Denny's" or "we'll be right with you. (Around 3 min) our booth seats and table were overly damp so we wiped them down. I ordered what I thought was a "breakfast meal" of 2 eggs, toast & bacon. (Usually a platter right?) My friend ordered a platter of chicken fingers which came with garlic toast & 2 sides. I asked for the list of sides and she picked mac n cheese & French fries. Our bad for not noticing those sides were "upscale" seriously, for a small bowl of M&C and fries, which she wanted "just fries" not higher priced seasoned fries. I asked for a large plate & chef acted like I was asking for something extreme. Each item was on a separate plate and I was billed for "ala cart" the food was "meh" and everything was super salty. A woman at booth next to us had been listening and said "talk to manager & don't come back" I did talk to waiter who showed me how the sides were premium. We'll take her advice, not going back. We came here on a Sunday morning, we walk in all is normal then we get sat in the back room, got absolutely no service or acknowledgement, as we were about to walk out we finally get offered drinks, we get our drinks wait for our order to be taken our waiter didn't seem to care then we didn't get our check so we had to walk up front and ask for it, the only reason it's getting 2 stars is because the food was alright, safe to say we are NEVER coming back. I'm a regular customer at Denny's, however I have given the West Patrick St Frederick MD place many chances.. each time my experience has been terrible. Bad service and the food was not good! I know people usually don't report good experiences, but for context, this is the fourth visit that I have visited this location and had poor service every single time. I attended with my family of seven and was not greeted for six minutes when the waiter did approach. I informed him we had toddlers and we had to move quickly and get the food and I said the entire table was ready to order. He told me he'd put in the kids food first and then come back and take the adult orders. After that happened, we received our drinks. The children received their meals and then the adults received their meals. Two of the meals were incorrect he made us scrape off the food and put them on a separate plate for him to take it back. We waited the entire allotment of time for the entire table to eat all of their food and still never received 50% of two of our meals when it came time to pay, I asked them to cash us out because it was time to go we had toddlers and they said, but the food is up now and I said well we're done eating and ready to cash out so we don't want the food now its been15 minutes. I asked them to discount the two meals that we only got 50% of our food and said they gave us 20% off the order which did not equal 50% of one of our meals when there was two meals that we did not get 50% of, there was no empathy. My concerns were dismissed. They thought they did their part and they were content with that. Choose a different location. read more

This and all Denny's will always be okay with me. It is comfort food in the sense that you know what you are going to get. If your expectations aren't too high, then any given Denny's anywhere in the country will be the okay experience you settle for. The servers are consistently effective and pleasant. The food is simple (I still think they suffer from too many items, makes it hard to be really good at any one set of dishes). This location is along the average off the highway four lane drag through the not nicest part of town. The shopping center is sprawling and a little worse for wear. In the daylight (we went at lunch) it's just fine. I suspect their weekend late nights can get a little dicey. The resturant itself was clean, but surely has seen better days. It looked and felt dated, and a bit dingy. That is almost what you should expect from a chain diner on the not quite best part of town. Would definelty come here again if traveling through the area and took this exit. There is nothing wrong with average food, done by decent people, in a slightly shady part of town. read more

Went at 5AM after working 14 hours, place was empty, waitress was amazing and the cinnamon pancakes were probably the best thing I've ever had. Tip: If you get biscuits and gravy get the gravy in the side or else soggy biscuits. read more

All the Denny locations in my area are disappearing!! I made the trek here with a friend to have a very early breakfast (dinner time) lol Very clean and well maintained location. We were greeted by Argin, our host and waitress. I'm giving it 5 stars cuz its not every day you get 5 star service at a Dennys. Fast friendly service. And food was good too with little waiting. Argin was running the show. Checking in and people out. Getting peoples Ubers out and getting our hot food out to us. My only con was my bacon was a little on the crispy side. I ordered food from Uber Eats at this restaurant when my food arrived. It was so cold we could not eat it. I spent close to $50 for terrible food. I called the restaurant spoke to the manager. Been to Denny's at this location many a time for my job. The staff are always friendly, if the food isn't ready on time me they usually off me a complimentary beverage. They don't have to but it's really appreciated. No matter what time I go in, the place is spotless. It could be very easy to let standards slip in the middle of the night. But they never have. Dining room floor was littered (how hard is it to run a vacuum when you start your shift in the morning?). Coffee was undrinkable. Service was lousy. After waiting for my meal for 30 minutes, they brought me pancakes that weren't cooked all the way through. And had the nerve to only offer me $2 off the bill. I have been frequenting this Dennys since 1990. I haven't been going a lot lately because my family doesn't like the food and it's not very clean. But I decided to go with my granddaughter today. After we were seated, I waited 20 minutes and still was not waited on. I went to the front and told the manager who said she would send someone right back. I waited another 10 minutes and was just getting up to leave and go somewhere else when a server approached. I said jokingly, "Oh good, I was just getting ready to leave." He said, "ok" and turned around and left, going into kitchen. I have not had this particular server in years but other customers I have dined with have had issues with his performance and attitude. He is always rude and arrogant. I have been here twice before this summer and both times had ladies that were amazing servers. It's a shame that his attitude was abominable when there are so many other options for dining in Frederick. My advice is go somewhere else. read more

Is it still bad service if there was actually no service? I had a long drive on a Sunday afternoon and was really hungry, but I knew there was a Denny's where I was going, so I was looking forward to some good food. I went in, the sign said, "Please wait for the Hostess to seat you", but there was no hostess or even wait staff anywhere in sight. I waited a bit at the counter and then went in and picked a table, planning to flag down wait staff for a menu when I saw them. I never saw them, though. Not one single waiter or waitress. I waited and waited. I could see the people in the back behind the order window and wanted to get their attention, but they made a point of never, ever looking in my direction. It might have meant they'd have to do work, or something. Best avoided, I suppose. Before I left, a group of four came in and a woman who had been crouched at a table talking to some friends stood up and seated them. She WAS the hostess! I couldn't believe it. She'd been hunched over talking away to this one table the whole time! I thought I might try to flag her down. She called into the back, "These people just came in, can I go on my break?" and walked away. All this time, there was no one I could even ask for a menu. I went ahead and left. As I left, I was thinking that it had been a real waste of time to go in there, but then a happier thought occurred to me. That Denny's on West Patrick Street in Frederick, Maryland would be an ideal place for homeless people in Frederick to go. It is clean, warm, and comfortable. No one is at the front counter to hassle them, there are no wait staff to bother them, and they can sit in comfort and relative safety. That would be a much better use of that place then for it to keep pretending to be a restaurant. I'd think the city wouldn't mind giving the place a grant to keep the power on for heating and AC. PS: I know that some people might think I'm being sarcastic, but I'm not. Frederick does have some unfortunate homeless people, and I'd have nothing but admiration if the city turned that Denny's into a place for them. read more

BP, my mother-in-law, and I stopped by for dinner and the waitress, Finnie, did a great job taking care of our table. We shared the make your own appetizer and choose mozzarella sticks, cheese quesadillas and chicken strips. The mozzarella sticks were crispy, cheesy, and not at all greasy. The cheese quesadillas were also crispy and very cheesy, and served with sour cream and salsa. The chicken strips were tender, moist, and served with BBQ and honey mustard sauce. BP ordered the chicken Philly cheesesteak with seasoned fries ($.49 up charge from regular fries) and an order of all you can eat pancakes for $4. The cheesesteak was delicious! The hoagie roll it was served on was hearty and did not give into the juices of the cheesesteak and held all the grilled green peppers, onion, and mushroom perfectly. It was very salty, but still good. I did share BP's pancakes (hee hee) and they were SO fluffy! Argh, homemade pancakes do not compare. BP did a great job and ate six pancakes on his own even after his sandwich and fries (I ate one pancake) so I think we got our $4 worth! My mother-in-law ordered off of the Senior menu and her scramble was a great deal! Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and two pancakes for around $6.35. I ordered the slow cooker pot roast and although the it was also salty, the meat was seasoned and cooked well. The celery and carrots were also tender and the mashed potatoes were heavenly! The pot roast sat on a half of a hoagie roll and was perfect for sopping up the gravy and meat. It was a great lunch! read more

I always order skillets if a restaurant has them on the menu. So far, Danny's is my favorite place when it comes to skillet-- good price, tasty, and they do come sizzling which is very appetizing in my opinion. A lot of restaurants give you a bit porcelain skillet that's not even that hot--they cook in something then pour into that porcelain skillet which lost all the meaning and appealing of a skillet dish. read more
