I wish I could give them 0 stars...1st the waiter was slow never refilled my coffee or water 2nd I go to pay and I had 2 $10.00 gift cards that I paid with and put the rest in my debit card well the manager decided to chase me down after I left to tell me I have to pay again and after checking my bank account the remaining balance was already charged to my bank account!!!!..... Kept telling me I have to pay and I kept saying no and showed him the charge already on my debit card and he still says I have to pay after 10 minutes of a telling match here told me that when I get my bank account straight to go back and pay him!!!... I should know by now not to come back here... I don't like writing reviews like this but I'm just tired of the horrible service and food.. we walk in and there's no one at the counter.. waited about 5 minutes to be acknowledged.. sat down at our table. Ordered our food. waiter was very nice. However my moms skillet was salty and overly peppered. My 3 year olds nephew Mac and cheese looked brown for some reason considering it was Kraft boxed Mac and cheese which is bright yellow/orange... my lumberjack slam was served without pancakes as is tradition here. The eggs and such were fine but no cakes!!! When the pancakes finally arrived I noticed they had a weird taste. I opened the middle of the pancakes and they were raw!!! The mix was still runny and white... how do u mess up pancakes!!! Needless to say I had a stomach issues after getting home ... I did tell our waiter and yes he did offer to replace them but I wasn't in the mood for pancakes anymore....not cool guys... please get ur act together because I have yet to have a good experience here...... read more

As a frequent Denny's customs I can say that I've been to serval. Most have exemplified great custom service however, not many has motivated me to write a yelp review. Today for breakfast, I stop by a local Denny's in Hawthorne CA, off 132nd and Hawthorne Blvd. like normal, we were greeted and seated. The motivation beyond this post is the level of service we received from whom I believed to be the manager (Danny). Not only did he take our order he also was very accommodating and attentive. On top of that. Our server Tom was outstanding. He was very knowledgeable of the the menu and recommended a dish I never had which turned out to be delicious. Came here for lunch during the week. It was packed and there was a 10 minute wait for 2. I realize this was the holiday break for most schools but the service was not very good. We ordered our food and it took 20 minutes to come out. We observed other tables only getting half the people's meals at a time, and not refilling drinks promptly. When our food came out it was cold. The server commented that they were down a cook today, but they had plenty of food runners in the kitchen. The plates were also stacking up. Don't know if this was an off day or if this was normal, but I don't think we will be back again. The manager ringing people up was so nice, though. read more

STAY AWAY! Wish I could give zero stars! My husband likes his eggs medium well - not runny or well done but like gelatin in the middle, This was thoroughly explained. The first time they arrived well done and the second time runny. My "sizzling" skillet came out cold. The service was horrible - our waiter abandoned us. When I finally spoke up the only thing the manager was concerned about was that we keep our voices down. We've had a bad experience there before and will NEVER go back. My family and I were driving by this location on the way to the airport and decided to have a bite to eat before we get there. When we arrived we were greeted with a friendly smile from the host and manager who were both in the front. The service was really prompt. our drink order was taken right when we sat down which was nice because it was a hot day. Our server was super friendly and checked on us frequently. The manager stopped by to check on us. Overall I have to say from my experiences at other Dennys this has to be the best I have ever been to. if I'm ever in the area I'll definately come back. highly recommend this dennys to anyone and everyone. this dennys rocks read more

It's great when your family of 3 can eat all for less than $20. The food was good and the children were happy, especially with the chocolate chip pancakes, and the turkey sandwich with chicken noodle soup. These were both on the $2,$4,$6, menu. i have eaten practically in every Denny's and they were the best. I especially liked my waiter Pascual! He was cracking me up the whole time and turns out he's a mariachi singer too. ask him to serenade you while you enjoy the "to die for" pancake puppies. Food was good, but service was not. Our server put zero effort into taking care of us. She came up to our table and basically demanded we order immediately. She brought us our food and we didn't see her again until she came to our table halfway through our meal telling us we need to cash out. As a server I get you want to go home when your cut, but if it's so urgent you can't wait for your table to finish their meal you should transfer them to someone else. To demand someone to cash out before they even finish their meal is ridiculous. I try to be understanding, but as a paying guest I at least expect to be able to finish my meal at the pace I want. I normally wouldn't go through the effort of leaving a review and most of the time I'll even put up with subpar service, but this needs to be brought to someones attention. I have been here several times and customer service is okay but the food is just terrible. I had really gross and cold French toast once. I've had to ask for new pancakes, French toast, & fries all different visits. They only have maple syrup as a choice which some may not like. I'm done giving this place chances. Myself and family have enjoyed the Dennys franchise for as long as I can remember, but of all the locations I've visited, this one's the absolute best! Being a southern California native, and my wife being a transplant from North Carolina, we've fallen in love with this particular restaurant because they served GRITS(A SOUTHERN MAINSTAY), and have returned almost weekly for the past year because of the service! There's a waiter named Lito, and he's special! Go once and the next time he'll greet you by name, and will usually remember exactly what you might want based upon your last visit! I've been living in Hawthorne for 10+ years and have always came to this Dennys but as of today I will no longer. Me and my family (2 adults, 2 kids) came in on a Saturday and was surprised of how empty it was. The lady at the front got our names as usual. After 10 minutes a few more people were waiting to be seated (lets not forget there are more than 7 open tables) the same lady ask us "how can i help you?"... we said we're still waiting on our table. So she proceeds to the next person thats been waiting and that person ask her "why are people waiting when there are tables" the waitress (Simone) then replies and says "i'm busy and we're short staffed"... that waiting customer was very upset and decided to leave... its not 30 minutes and the 3rd person has left (I have a lot of patience) So as another seated customer is ready to go he says "ill wait just get these people get seated". Simone says no we have to help the customers first.... ??? So by then I've had enough of little miss Simone... so I ask her "so what are we "pending customers "??? She says well we're short staffed.. I informed her yes i see that, but why not have your "pending customers" wait at their tables instead of the front! So when we ask for the manager gues what she says... "i am the manager". Hahahah Thats when I knew it was time to go. This girl had 3 people walk out on her watch in 30 minutes. My main issue was her nonchalant attitude and lack of sympathy for us waiting. She has no form of customer service or organization. She should learn how to multi-task and run her shift. Short staffed and busy is not an excuse... here's how I know... We decided to go to the Dennys on Inglewood and Rosecrans and guess what they had 3 people on staff but guess what we were seated within 5 minutes, our orders were taken, and yea the food was a little wait but at least our orders are in and we had drinks. Simone needs to take a visit to see how to operate a restaurant when you're short staffed and take a class on customer service and teamwork. If they had any form of teamwork everything would have went smoothly.... or she should just quit and try a McDonald's drive thru. I came here with a friend around 9:30am to study cause they had free wifi. I ordered a hot chocolate and my friend ordered a coffee and we wanted to split a skillet cookie a la mode. The waiter came back and said that they didn't have it. So we told him we would order lunch later since we already ate something before coming here. He comes back like 5 minutes later and asks if we're ready to order.. We politely told him we were going to order something for lunch later. Apparently he didn't believe us and just gave an attitude and was like, so you're just going to have drinks today..? After that he just ignored us and gave us our bill and we felt so unwelcomed that we just decided to leave, which was around 10am.. I love Denny's but that waiter was very rude.
