Came into Mandy's for the first time ever and was really looking forward to it. Keep in mind the hours of operation are a little on the tight side, and they are closed on Wednesdays. My guest and I played it safe and went with bacon and eggs ordered with different levels of variation. We both agreed that the food was solid, and pretty much on point especially if you like your bacon and eggs and the added sides traditional. Our server was an obvious OG who has worked here for a long time and probably seen it all over the years. In other words, he's been there and done that. I have a special place in my heart for establishments and their long-time servers, so I'm not going to be too critical here-but the old lad did rush things initially. His service and overall demeanor picked up with time and over the course of the meal, so again nothing too bad. And whilel he certainly didn't provide CSA level service, he wasn't rude or either. We stopped in to try out one of Hawthorne's classic OG diners and were not disappointed!!! Out waiter was great and the food came fast and hot! The generous portions and being able to watch Spain vs France match made our experience perfect. Three cheeseburgers with fries and apple pie à la mode were the best! read more

We were in manhattan beach area and it was only a 10 min drive. Little lot with a 70s feel, old school interior with booths. Service was fast, the food was delivered quickly and we were out in 45 minutes. I wanted something on the lighter side, eggs, hash browns and toast. Everyone ate all of the breakfast. Great old school family diner with an extensive menu, fair prices, and breakfast all day! Decor is homey and casual and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Hubs got the bacon breakfast with home fries and I went with the ham steak and sub French fries. Both meals were delicious and FILLING! Breakfast also comes with toast, so this was a LOT of food. Poster of the Clooney/Pitt movie, "Wolfs" seemed slightly out of place, but the owner proudly explained that Mandy's was used as the final diner scene. AWESOME! I've wanted to love this diner since the first time I saw it. It's pure 1960s LA Googie, the kind of place that looks like it should be serving milkshakes to astronauts and stuntmen. Unfortunately, the interior feels less "Jetsons chic" and more "post-apocalyptic brunch." There's a specific aroma in the air that suggests the fryers have seen things. Ancient things. The kind of oil that remembers Nixon. The syrup needs to be carbon dated. The coffee tastes like it was brewed during the Carter administration and kept warm out of respect. Subbed the biscuit & gravy for toast, ordered eggs over easy, and opted for hash-browns over home-fried potatoes. Mandy's makes its gravy and biscuits from scratch. Food was still delicious- but sort of had a bad experience. I went with my daughter to have breakfast. We sat at the counter and I had my coffee cup with me from my morning coffee run. The guy who works there came over to me and said you can't have that in here. I said okay and I gave maybe an embarrassed laugh? Okay so I found this place on Yelp for my fellow yelpers and I must say it was a nice "first" experience. My son and I were hungry for some breakfast food and I checked Yelp for an affordable local option and this place popped up. One of the best breakfast spots in Hawthorne. I would classify Mandy's as a Country Diner for multiple reasons. It feels like you're eating in someone's house vs a 50's car-centered diner, and I mean that in a positive way. It's very homely and you can tell it's the sort of place that is filled with regulars and travelers alike. I am a huge fan of diners and was excited to eat as soon as I saw the inside. It's a true classic diner in all senses of the word. It's quite large on the inside and they have plenty of indoor only seating options. They have booths, tables, and counter seating. There is a large free parking lot attached so parking is easy and plentiful. Our server was very polite and she was very fast with the refills. Just like any classic diner they have a lot of great options on their large menu plus a rotating list of daily specials. I started off the meal with a cup of coffee, per usual, and it was tasty and strong. For my meal I chose my favorite breakfast dish: the Eggs Benedict. It was very good and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The ham was thick and cooked to a perfect temperature. As a side I chose one biscuit topped with gravy and it was fantastic. It was a true thick, flaky, old-school biscuit and it went quickly. Overall I was very impressed. I live up in West LA so am not in this area often, but I would stop in again next time I am down in the area and would certainly suggest to anyone in the area of heading to it. read more

Mandy's is only closed on Wednesdays, and most definitely NOT permanently closed. We visited there as recently as this past Saturday 1/4/2026. They have yummy food and a great atmosphere. Usually with 80's music playing. Several movies and TV shows have filmed there through the years (see photos). They do close for filming, but that's well advertised, and not frequent. I'd like to inform everyone that I literally only downloaded yelp to review this place, I've never written a single other review in my life until today. To keep it short, Mandy's is INCREDIBLE! The staff are so freaking kind! I personally suffer from social anxiety and they've always made me feel welcome and accepted, No matter the mood I take in with me I always walk out with a smile! They make sure to wave and greet me as I walk in and they all acknowledge me as I walk out as well! The environment is something else, something special. I could write a separate review on just the space itself! The posters, the signs, the newspapers, the decor! It's perfect. Now I'm a young whipper snapper who doesn't know too much about the 20th century and the pure gold it held. But this place dang sure clues me in the second I walk in. I could see how this place is used for so much media, it's amazing! Now you might be thinking; "Joshua, you have gone on and on and on about the employees and the feels and the ambiance. When are you getting to the FOOD!?" Well let me tell you. The meals are EXCELLENT. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME!!! Personally, I'm an All American Breakfast super-fan, but I digress. There are plenty of different options to choose from that can tend to your sweet or savory needs whenever you please. (Except past three ) I've tried a burger from Mandy's and it was solid. Wait, no... solid isn't good enough. It was SUPERB! Theres only a handful of places I'll actually get a burger from and Mandy's is by far top of the list. I'd hire the chef to come and just cook for me, but I'd rather not steal him from you guys. Nonetheless the food is consistently delicious. I send gratitude to the chef. I will be trying everything on the menu eventually, but for now the All American Breakfast is my forte. In conclusion. 1/10/2026 My family and I visited this diner. My daughters Chorizo order was incorrect and we asked for it to be correct. Should have been a burrito not a plate. The server was kind and went to have it corrected. The head cook, was unhappy. He delivered the plate back by DROPPING in on the table making a sound. It was still incorrect as it should have been only Chorizo and eggs but included beans and potatoes. My daughter ask they just remove it from the bill. It's a small space, so the chef yelling from the kitchen, so you aren't going to eat it as he stares my daughter down was seen by all She replied, it's not what I ordered. Mind you the restaurant is almost full! Not wanted to escalate the scene, shortly after we packed up and left. We were all woman along with my 2 granddaughters and grandson. The servers apologized but I don't feel safe going back. That kind of aggression has no place in restaurants. Especially when a breakfast was $100 including the tip we still left. It was a smaller tip then normal, but we still acted in character, even if others didn't. I won't say don't go, just my family will never again! read more

Not so sure why my first visit to Disney, via LAX, required a pitstop at Mandy's, but we did it. We were the only ones there at 9:00 am on a Thursday. Friendly service and our breakfast was fine - super crispy hashbrowns and there was something extra delicious about that bacon. A decent breakfast for not a lot of dough. I would go back, for more of those hashbrowns, for sure! I didn't try the coffee. The place is pretty run-down, but that adds to the charm of the place, I think. Every time those B&G plates hit the table I wonder why someone hasn't invented a B&G plate warmer? You know, something to keep that creamy country sausage gravy warm...kind of like the coffee warmer I have on my desk. So there you go, a free idea to anyone who wants it...a "keep your food warm on the table plate warmer", the Sharks would snicker but this girl would be happy! Easy to find, ample parking, friendly service and the cutest diner I've seen in a long time (though they're all kinda cute). You step in here and you're instantly in the '50's complete with woodgrain tables, faux leather booths, a counter with a few seats affixed to the floor and even an old telephone...the cooks wear those tall paper chef's hats too!
