    Cobb Salad

We had been talking about taking advantage of kids eat free tuesdays for a while. I had seen a banner at this location just a few weeks ago. My husband looked up kids eat free Tuesday and we said let's do it! When we got there at 5:30 the place was deserted. There was only one table of four with 2 kids and the us. The restaurant looked like it had been renovated recently. It was nicely appointed and clean. We ordered and three more tables were occupied. There was only one server for the entire restaurant. When we tried getting his attention he did not acknowledge us a couple times and we had to ask for things a couple times. Make the long story short, the food was blah. My husband had a burger. We had four items from the kids menu. I had the Cobb salad. When I went to pay, it was over $100! The food is so so expensive here and so mediocre. They have a $20 burger. That's not the one we got but still. Our tab was over $100 and no kids eat free. He said they stopped doing that weeks ago. Wish I had called before those are $100 I ain't getting back.

We love this restaurant and we love coming to this location. BUT you guys need to do something about the sewer smell in the restroom. It's very very disgusting! Plus the restrooms need more attention when checking them.

Dennys took over Cocos years ago, and this past week was my first visit in since. I was craving sandwiches and it was one of the few places open during the holidays. Ordered the new chicken sandwich and pot roast melt with seasoned fries. It was salt overload. The new strawberry sparkler with strawberry puree on the bottom was delicious. Highly recommend that drink. Service was wonderful with so much attention to detail. The establishment was clean and a great spot to host meetings. Denny's has their own parking lot, and if you're looking to host events, they're likely to be able to accomodate larger parties too.

Food came out quickly and was the proper temperature. Our order was taken right away and our drinks were brought back just after we were seated. Good customer service and no complaints. The restaurant was busy but the bus boy did a good job of keeping the tables clean. We were also happy with clean bathrooms. Thanks to Maggie, we had a great time.

Best Denny's Restaurant in 20 miles. Customer service is good and the food comes out like it's suppose to. Not every Denny's is the same. This store has plenty of parking and is a great location. Management is really good and they really care. Restaurant and bathroom are clean and well maintained.

Came here to get breakfast with my family, the food wasn't that bad, service was good, but we got our food in paper plates. They skimped out on the bacon and sausage. I noticed it seemed quieter than usual, couldn't figure out why until the plates showed up.

I like Denny's. It's not the coolest place to eat in the neighborhood (hipster hood), but this location rocks! The service is great and the restaurant has a nice vibe for a "Denny's" that I cannot explain. The waitstaff are so friendly and patrons here are equally engaging; probably long time locals in area: the same hot rods and classic cars are always parked in the parking lot. Very cool. The food is consistent and served in a timely manner. Breakfast items are my go-to choice on the menu, but I recently tried their burgers and was pleasantly surprised - it's good! Denny's is not my favorite place in town, but I love it here for reasons that once again, I can't explain!

Came here for a late night eat because I had been at an all day music festival nearby and I was starving and tired. When we arrived it was not bad in terms of amount of tables filled about 4 but soon they started to leave but as soon as they left a ton of quinceañeras and graduation folks started to arrive and despite the place filling up we had pretty good service! I wish my steak had a little more darkness on it and that it was a little easier to chew lol but overall it's a good place or spot and didn't have any major issues

We shared the ribeye chilaquiles and the churro waffle and a side of potatoes for the chilaquiles. The potatoes were cooked perfectly and were the perfect addition to the chilaquiles plate. The chilaquiles were delicious and flavorful, and because they're cooked as tortilla strips, I felt they held their texture much longer and stayed crispy. The ribeye was cooked nicely, and the sunny side up eggs came out perfect. The waffle churro was soooo delicious. It wasn't insanely sweet, it was just right. And the syrup it came with was yummy and not overly sweet as well. I'll definitely be back to try more items on their menu!

The café itself is super cute, very clean, and has such a welcoming atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive. There were so many menu options that I honestly wish I had more time and more of an appetite to fully indulge and try more dishes. We were in a bit of a hurry. I tried the chilaquiles, which were quit filling. They were a different style than the traditional version. They used crispy tortilla chips similar to the kind you get in tortilla soup, which actually gave the dish a really good twist. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying. The food overall was really good, and I especially enjoyed the latte because it wasn't overly sweet like a lot of places tend to make them. Overall, such a great little breakfast and coffee spot in Eagle Rock. I'll definitely be back when I have more time to explore more of the menu.

The mocha is made with a double shot of espresso, Ghirardelli chocolate, & whole milk. I requested almond milk. The barista was very nice and told me it would be ready in a few minutes. I've been here twice and on the first visit, it took awhile to get seated. I'm usually a light brunch eater, but if you're going here, you have to order the Mexican food staples. My boyfriend loves their breakfast tacos (super hearty, 2 would be enough but a 3rd was taken home). Super generous portion with their cooked meat on top - SO good (classic bacon, or their mole and barbacoa). The Chipotle chilaquiles were absolutely delicious! I've never had an authentic Chipotle sauce taste like that... super creamy, and homemade, not overtly smoky like you usually have at other places. We also had their cafe de olla cold brew (since it was a hot summer heat wave), and it was good - classic with their cafe de olla spices - but I'm sure their classic hot cafe de olla is even better. I believe I've gotten their other regular brunch items, but wish I just opted for their Mexican favorites since that's their bread and butter here. Great business. Great service. Love to support!

Something to note is that they don't yet have their liquor license (and are in the process of it being approved), but don't let that take away from their delicious food and stellar service. My family and I came in today, middle of the afternoon so a bit slow, to a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Our server Jaime opened the door to the restaurant for us and personally showed us to our table. Despite the restaurant being quiet, Jaime was incredibly attentive and recommended several dishes to us, all of which were great. First, the appetizers: the fried zucchini chips are lightly dusted with truffle and are paired with a delicious garlic aioli that really whets your appetite. They were crispy and savory, a perfect start to the meal alongside the crispy rice tuna, which are a bit like poke nachos, except the chips are seaweed rice crackers that give a crunchy and welcome spin on the dish. The mango drizzled with eel sauce also added a nice sweet element that paired nicely with the slightly spicy tuna. Second, our entrees, which included the burger, chicken penne pasta, and chicken tikka masala: the burger was juicy and savory, including lettuce, tomato, pickles and cheese, and is one of the better burgers I've tasted recently. It comes paired with some thin fries that are perfectly salted, as well as a side of ketchup, of course. I ordered the chicken penne pasta, though when it first came out, I saw it had linguine instead of penne. Before I even said a word, Jaime took notice and immediately apologized, bringing back the correct order within minutes. He was incredibly kind and professional about it all. The penne was cooked al dente and served with a delicious vodka sauce that really made the dish. The dried tomatoes also added a light sweetness that balanced out the chicken. Finally, my favorite dish was the chicken tikka masala. Other reviews praised this dish, and so my father, not a fan of Indian food, decided to take a chance on it. It was the best dish we ordered! Everyone wanted some due to the two distinct sauces on the plate, one almost like a jam with a citrusy taste, and of course the curry itself, which should be noted is not at all spicy, and has a wonderfully balanced flavor making it suitable for anyone to eat. It was so good, I wish I had ordered it. If you come here and only order one thing, make that your pick. Once again, thank you Jaime for making our experience so memorable! Jaime is a seasoned waiter who has worked many restaurants in the LA area, so we are familiar with him. He is such a pleasure to have as a server who not only gave great advice on the food, but was also conversational and cordial the whole way. We will be coming back!

We came as a large group & sat in the outside back patio. Our dinners ranged from the grilled branzino, miso-glazed salmon, mushroom pasta, and an amazing 1/2-lb burger (amongst other dishes). It was an eclectic culinary assortment, and everyone loved their meals. Chef Bryan also came out to greet us. So... the next night, just my husband and I returned for an intimate dinner inside. Again, the decor is not the best first impression, but we came for the food, and were not disappointed. This time we tried the truffle zucchini chips, the apple/pear/arugula salad with salmon, and the shrimp pasta - all were delicious! Bottom line: this is a hidden gem worth returning to.

Unfortunately, the service has been consistently disappointing. Every time I visit, the staff seems uninterested, bothered, or inconvenienced by customers. There's rarely a warm greeting when you walk in, no welcoming energy, and often it feels like you're interrupting someone's day just by asking a question or placing an order. I understand that everyone has difficult days, and working in the restaurant industry isn't easy. But hospitality is a huge part of the dining experience. A simple smile, eye contact, a "hello," or making customers feel welcome goes a long way. The food deserves praise, but the service does not match the quality of what's coming out of the kitchen. Management may want to spend some time retraining and refocusing staff on customer service and hospitality. Customers should feel appreciated, not like they're a burden. I truly want to see this place succeed because Highland Park needs good local businesses, and the food is excellent. But after several visits with the same experience, I felt it was worth sharing honest feedback. Great food brings people in; great service keeps them coming back. I hope management takes this as constructive criticism and works to create a more welcoming experience for everyone who walks through the door.
