We found street parking about a block away, and when we arrived the place was already busy with guests constantly coming in. The café itself is super cute, very clean, and has such a welcoming atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive. There were so many menu options that I honestly wish I had more time and more of an appetite to fully indulge and try more dishes. We were in a bit of a hurry. I tried the chilaquiles, which were quit filling. They were a different style than the traditional version. They used crispy tortilla chips similar to the kind you get in tortilla soup, which actually gave the dish a really good twist. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying. The food overall was really good, and I especially enjoyed the latte because it wasn't overly sweet like a lot of places tend to make them. Overall, such a great little breakfast and coffee spot in Eagle Rock. I'll definitely be back when I have more time to explore more of the menu. read more

Extreme attention to detail in customer experience, You can tell they care. Not worth the wait. Save your time and go elsewhere. The staff were incredibly accommodating and kind but that can't make up for the poor wait time and mistakes. They had to make our order 3 times because they kept messing up it up (nothing complicated, chilaquiles Rojas with over easy egg). First it came out with salsa verde, then came out with scrambled eggs. Last time it was finally right but you could tell they didn't care about it at all and gave us some sloppy bowl and took off the scrambled eggs of the previous. The food is excellent, the service is quick and relatively friendly, and the ambiance was lively when I was there (in a Saturday morning). I know they're known for the Oaxacan meals, but I had to try that benny. And I'm glad I did. The hollandaise sauce was smooth and creamy, the ham was hammy, and the pickles atop provided a nice crunch and balance to the meal. The potatoes were deep fried to golden brown perfection. I had a Jamaica and she had watermelon agua fresca, both very tasty. The staff at the restaurant were very kind and efficient and helpful in what felt like a very challenging and busy environment My challenge with this place had to do with how incredibly noisy it is inside on a busy Sunday just before noon, and the fact that the inside dining area smells strongly of gas from the kitchen that is right there. We ordered variety of things to try and the food was solid, although some of the roasted potatoes were pretty burnt. The barbacoa benedicto was pretty good but the portion size seems a little small for the price of $19.50. The veggie omelette was good with a nice mix of mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, cheese and soy chorizo. Churro waffle was a bit underwhelming. The waffle tasted like it was made with cake batter, it was a bit airy and powdery? Not a typical waffle texture. For $15 you only get 4 small pieces with some berries and whip cream. I've been coming to Lola Cafe for a while now. It's a cozy breakfast spot right in my neighborhood and I love it. Their lattes are always on point, and I live for their Lola toast (basically avocado toast heaven). Portions are generous, super shareable, and totally worth the price. The place gives off cozy brunchy vibes, and the staff is generally warm and friendly. That said, I'm bumping my rating down to a 3 - not because the food or service dropped, but just on principle (I believe in menu integrity!!!) The menu says "Add Eggs & Roasted Potatoes" for $4 (see photos of menu attached), but I was charged $5. When I asked about it, the lady told me the $4 is just for eggs, and adding potatoes makes it $5. Girl... the menu clearly says "Eggs AND Roasted Potatoes" and not "Surprise! Choose your fighter." I get it - it's just a dollar - but it doesn't feel right when the written menu says one thing and you get charged another. A small thing, but it rubs me the wrong way. Still love this spot, but PSA: ask questions if you're ordering a la carte and don't want mystery charges. And don't forget that parking is street only so plan accordingly unless you enjoy the sport of parallel parking under pressure. read more

This was literally the best meal I've had anywhere in a long time, and I eat out relatively often. We ordered the Chili Relleno Omelet, the Eggs Benedict, and the Horchata Waffles, plus the Oaxaca Choco-Latte and the Dulce De Leche Iced Latte. The service was friendly and attentive. They seat you and give you menus, but then you go to the counter to order. Our order was brought to our table and multiple people came by to make sure everything was good, that we had water, and enough napkins and salsa. Out of what we ordered, every single thing was perfection-- from the tasty mix of old school flavors and new school combinations in every dish, to every single sauce and salsa. The eggs in both egg dishes were cooked perfectly. The various textures in each dish were well rounded and delightful. Even the arugula salad that came w the Chili Relleno omelet and the roasted potatoes that came w the Eggs Benedict were incredible. The salad was well dressed but not overly dressed or wilted, and unlike roasted potatoes at other places which can often be too soft or too hard on the outside instead of crunchy, but then also too dry on the inside, these were perfectly crisp, not dripping w oil, perfectly salted, and perfectly textured on the inside. I don't like my coffee too sweet so I asked for the dulce de leche flavoring on the side but it wasn't the overly sweet syrup I was worried about. It was a house made sort of creamy liquid and after mixing half in and tasting it, I ended up pouring it all in and it was perfect. The Oaxaca Choco-Latte was both sweet enough for my husband but also not too sweet for me which tbh is something that rarely happens. You could not go wrong w a single one of the dishes or drinks I mentioned here. Looking forward to coming back here for sure! read more

When we first came here we sat outside because we we're so famished by our morning run that we didn't think to order their Oaxacan offerings. Silly us! The next time we definitely did not make the same mistake. I ordered the mole enchiladas which--let me tell you, if there was not side-eyes to licking a plate, I would have totally done it! They also do great takes on classics like an eggs benedict, chicken taquitos, or a breakfast plate like eggs, protein sides like bacon or sausage. The place appears to be a local favorite with a line forming every couple minutes either to place an order and await seating or to retrieve their takeout. The diner feels very hustle-and-bustle but in a way that feels like a Tia's kitchen where she's running around and making sure that you're happy and well fed. Shoutout to our waitress for making us feel just that way! They also have outdoor seating however the way that the sun hits it can definitely feel more crisp so don't forget to wear warm clothing, even during a sunny day! Street parking is relatively easy in Eagle Rock, but you can always turn a corner and find plenty of metered parking lots since this area is also where they have many shops and churches so there's ample space for anytime you'd like to check them out. read more

The food scene in Eagle rock has changed tremendously in the past decade! When we arrived, this place was packed, but luckily, we got seated quickly outdoors with their sidewalk seating. We tried Lola because it was close to the hotel where we staying for an event. Parking is curbside and we were able to find a spot close by. It was Sunday morning and we got there around 10ish. We chose to sit outside and my friend and I took turns ordering inside. Inside was busy and crowded and there must have been at least a staff of eight or so working in the kitchen. I ordered a regular coffee, avocado toast wth a side of aragula salad. My friend ordered eggs, toast and potatoes. Our order came fairly quickly. The food was fresh and tasty, my coffee was on the sweet side which was too much and I did not drink it.
