We really enjoyed our breakfast here! We came around 10:30 on a Sunday and only waited about 10 minutes or less for 2 people. We shared the ribeye chilaquiles and the churro waffle and a side of potatoes for the chilaquiles. The potatoes were cooked perfectly and were the perfect addition to the chilaquiles plate. The chilaquiles were delicious and flavorful, and because they're cooked as tortilla strips, I felt they held their texture much longer and stayed crispy. The ribeye was cooked nicely, and the sunny side up eggs came out perfect. The waffle churro was soooo delicious. It wasn't insanely sweet, it was just right. And the syrup it came with was yummy and not overly sweet as well. I'll definitely be back to try more items on their menu! read more

We found street parking about a block away, and when we arrived the place was already busy with guests constantly coming in. The café itself is super cute, very clean, and has such a welcoming atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive. There were so many menu options that I honestly wish I had more time and more of an appetite to fully indulge and try more dishes. We were in a bit of a hurry. I tried the chilaquiles, which were quit filling. They were a different style than the traditional version. They used crispy tortilla chips similar to the kind you get in tortilla soup, which actually gave the dish a really good twist. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying. The food overall was really good, and I especially enjoyed the latte because it wasn't overly sweet like a lot of places tend to make them. Extreme attention to detail in customer experience, You can tell they care. I know they're known for the Oaxacan meals, but I had to try that benny. And I'm glad I did. The hollandaise sauce was smooth and creamy, the ham was hammy, and the pickles atop provided a nice crunch and balance to the meal. The potatoes were deep fried to golden brown perfection. You see a host to get a seat and then you place an order inside at the cash register, receive a number and sit back down. The veggie omelette was good with a nice mix of mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, cheese and soy chorizo. Churro waffle was a bit underwhelming. The waffle tasted like it was made with cake batter, it was a bit airy and powdery? Not a typical waffle texture. For $15 you only get 4 small pieces with some berries and whip cream. Not worth the wait. Save your time and go elsewhere. The staff were incredibly accommodating and kind but that can't make up for the poor wait time and mistakes. They had to make our order 3 times because they kept messing up it up (nothing complicated, chilaquiles Rojas with over easy egg). First it came out with salsa verde, then came out with scrambled eggs. Last time it was finally right but you could tell they didn't care about it at all and gave us some sloppy bowl and took off the scrambled eggs of the previous. Just a really poor first impression that we were really excited for. I think their system is poor because they have you wait for a table and then you order yourself. Causes for massive delays. I've been coming to Lola Cafe for a while now. It's a cozy breakfast spot right in my neighborhood and I love it. Their lattes are always on point, and I live for their Lola toast (basically avocado toast heaven). Portions are generous, super shareable, and totally worth the price. The place gives off cozy brunchy vibes, and the staff is generally warm and friendly. That said, I'm bumping my rating down to a 3 - not because the food or service dropped, but just on principle (I believe in menu integrity!!!) The menu says "Add Eggs & Roasted Potatoes" for $4 (see photos of menu attached), but I was charged $5. When I asked about it, the lady told me the $4 is just for eggs, and adding potatoes makes it $5. Girl... the menu clearly says "Eggs AND Roasted Potatoes" and not "Surprise! Choose your fighter." I get it - it's just a dollar - but it doesn't feel right when the written menu says one thing and you get charged another. A small thing, but it rubs me the wrong way. Still love this spot, but PSA: ask questions if you're ordering a la carte and don't want mystery charges. And don't forget that parking is street only so plan accordingly unless you enjoy the sport of parallel parking under pressure. read more

We added on the eggs (overeasy) and breakfast potatoes on top of the breakfast waffles, but the eggs were a bit too runny for my preference but the potatoes were perfectly crisp! The waffle had an abundance of horchata cream and other liquid toppings that might have made it softer than preferred. The mole negro was uniquely served and the mole was more on the sweeter side. That's not to say the portions are small, but rather the food is that good. The food scene in Eagle rock has changed tremendously in the past decade! When we arrived, this place was packed, but luckily, we got seated quickly outdoors with their sidewalk seating. The table was a bit small, but we managed. My husband had the Farmers Market Waffles, which he devoured. There was a ton of fruit on them! I had the Chilaquiles with Barbacoa and Verdes sauce. Chilaquiles is one of my go to's, but I'm typically disappointed. Not at Lola Cafe! They had one of the best Chilaquiles I've ever had! The tortilla strips kept their crunch and they were on a bed of yummy black beans. With the Barbacoa and over easy egg, it was over the top for me! So tasty! When we first came here we sat outside because we we're so famished by our morning run that we didn't think to order their Oaxacan offerings. Silly us! The next time we definitely did not make the same mistake. I ordered the mole enchiladas which--let me tell you, if there was not side-eyes to licking a plate, I would have totally done it! They also do great takes on classics like an eggs benedict, chicken taquitos, or a breakfast plate like eggs, protein sides like bacon or sausage. The place appears to be a local favorite with a line forming every couple minutes either to place an order and await seating or to retrieve their takeout. The diner feels very hustle-and-bustle but in a way that feels like a Tia's kitchen where she's running around and making sure that you're happy and well fed. Shoutout to our waitress for making us feel just that way! They also have outdoor seating however the way that the sun hits it can definitely feel more crisp so don't forget to wear warm clothing, even during a sunny day! Street parking is relatively easy in Eagle Rock, but you can always turn a corner and find plenty of metered parking lots since this area is also where they have many shops and churches so there's ample space for anytime you'd like to check them out. read more

I had to leave my review about the food I had for brunch. I had the breakfast burrito adding barbacoa. It was tender and very flavorful too. It comes with two salsas red and green. The red is habanero and the green is a mild salsa verde. The red habanero is very spicy (Hot). The potatoes were very flavorful with scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese and avocado.
