Rude service and horrible food. I hate leaving a bad review because some of the employees here were actually very nice. I came in on Sunday around 1:45 PM, shortly before closing. One of the younger female servers kindly told me I still had time to sit and eat, and a very sweet young host began walking me to a table. Then another employee stepped in -- an older, shorter woman who immediately wtold me, with a pretty RUDE attitude, that they were closing in 15 minutes. She repeated it three separate times in a snarky tone. It was very clear she didn't want me there. The host seated me in the back, but by that point I felt so uncomfortable that I decided to just order my food to go and leave. Unfortunately the food itself was also disappointing!!!! I ordered a breakfast burrito with eggs, sausage (which costs extra), and zucchini. When I got home and opened it, it was basically a potato burrito. There was hardly any egg and only a few tiny pieces of sausage -- maybe half a link at most. The burrito was almost entirely hash browns. For nearly $16.50, I expected a real breakfast burrito, not a wrap full of potatoes with barely any of the ingredients I paid extra for. If I wanted a potato burrito, I would've ordered that. I expect eggs and a breakfast burrito point blank. I feel this is common restaurants filling up items with the cheap ingredients. What a rip off . The receipt listed the name "Erika Oliveria" as the cashier -- not sure if that's the correct name of the server, but whoever handled the interaction could definitely work on treating customers with a little more courtesy and respect, even if they are closing in 15 minutes. And whoever made the burrito that day should reconsider the ingredient balance or maybe doesn't belong in the kitchen at all. Between the uncomfortable service and the disappointing food, it felt like a waste of money and time. After eating a quarter of the burrito, I just tossed it. I hate waiting food but I want eggs again not a wrap full of hashbrowns. I won't be coming back. read more

Excellent service from the moment we sat down. Eggs Benedict was perfectly made with just enough hollandaise. Spinach was fresh with sweet onions topped over-easy eggs that were not runny or underdone. Coffee fresh brewed steep not weak. Banana muffin freshly baked. I had those and the chicken chilaquiles, and despite the HUUUUUUGE portions of both, I was able to finish them in one sitting which is NO easy feat. My cousin & I had a nice Friday breakfast at Rock'n Egg Cafe. I remember when this space was Auntie Em's and it ushered in a new age version of cafe/diner types in the area with their not-cheap but tasty red velvet cupcakes. I came to find out that Rock'n Egg is part of the Nick's Cafe group. I love a ham & eggs at that counter spot in DTLA. I went with the waffle combo ($20.95) with bacon and eggs. You get 2 slices of bacon & I asked for scrambled eggs. Great waffle, just what I wanted. The bacon was crispy, perfect breakfast. Tried the waffle and some pancake of my cousin's with their berry compote and also their tomato jam and they were both delicious. I might have to say that the tomato jam edged the berry compote. It's a different addition to your everyday breakfast pancakes. Good stuff. My cousin got the cowboy skillet ($25.95) which had a country sausage patty, onions, bell peppers, spinach, mushrooms & scrambled eggs all smothered in brown gravy... AND all of this on top of a bed of country potatoes aka their cottage fries. He added a short stack of hot cakes (3) for $14.95 He liked everything he ordered especially adding the tomato jam to his pancakes. Service was great. Attentive and friendly. We devoured our food and had a little bit of the skillet dish left to take home. We'll have to get some of those house made muffins next time. Street parking only. I seen a foodie post a review of this restaurant on IG so I decided to bring my son and mom here for brunch. I would definitely arrive as early as possible because parking is limited on the street and we waited about an hour to be seated. Thankfully the restaurant provides complimentary water and coffee while you wait so I definitely appreciate that! The host also provided menus before were seated so we could get ahead of the ordering process which I also appreciated. Once we were seated, our drink orders were taken immediately and we placed our order fairly quickly. The service was absolutely phenomenal, our waiter and the host were super friendly and made sure our experience was amazing. I ordered the Egg combo with Applewood Chicken sausage which came with hash browns and sourdough toast. My eggs were cooked perfectly, the sausage had great flavor and the hash browns were perfectly cooked. My son ordered the Pan San which came with 3 huge pancakes topped with strawberries, eggs and hash browns. He absolutely devoured his meal with my help! My mother ordered the grilled Pork Chops which came with hash browns, eggs and toast. She was very satisfied with her combo. I saw they offered fresh baked muffins and I had to try a blueberry muffin and I definitely didn't regret it! The muffin was super moist and the ends had the perfect crisp, definitely one of the best muffins I've had in a long time. The walls are decorated with posters and photos of America's stunning national parks--Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Yellowstone--which struck a personal chord, as I've had the chance to visit each of those places. It felt like a warm welcome from familiar landscapes. If you go out the back door you are presented with a small covered patio dining. Which would be great for a larger group. There is dinning out on the sidewalk as well. Unfortunately the only parking is on the street. Depending on time of day can be competitive. The good is this establishment doesn't charge an egg surcharge or a bill surcharge. Cash and cards are accepted. Through out my journey of going to all breakfast spots within the 90041 zip code. This is the only place that offers a senior discount for 62 year and above. Also if you get breakfast on Wednesday through Friday before 9 am. They have a limited happy hour. I ordered the breakfast burrito, and it was an absolute beast--noticeably larger than the one I had at Pete's Blue Chip. Stuffed with eggs, potatoes, cheese, jalapeños which gave it the right amount of heat and your choice of meat, it was hearty, well-balanced, and satisfying from the first bite to the last. The flavors were solid, and the portion could easily tide you over well past lunchtime. On my way out, I spotted a shelf full of assorted hot sauces--a nice touch for anyone who likes to spice things up. A seriously delicious breakfast option in sleepy Eagle Rock. There are many breakfast restaurants in Eagle Rock and I would say this is certainly one of the best. They have huge sized portions, fair pricing, and polite staff. They don't have a dedicated parking lot, however street parking is very easy to find in this part of town because the neighborhood behind the restaurant doesn't have permit parking. Most of the seating are outdoor tables however we chose to sit inside for our first visit. Our server was very polite and was very quick with all the refills. They have a very large menu filled with all sorts of classic and unique breakfast options. Eggs Benedict is my favorite breakfast dish so I was very pleased to see that they have a dedicated page in their menu to 8 different Benedicts and there is a constant rotation of seasonal or weekly available Benedict. For my meal, I chose one of the weekend only Benedicts and thought it was fantastic. I chose the Huaraches Benedict and truly loved it. The eggs were cooked perfectly, it was covered in delicious sauce, and the Carne Asada was seasoned perfectly and was a great addition to the dish. The side of hashbrowns was also really good and I prefer them much more than the cheaper home fries other restaurants give you. Overall, I would say this is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Eagle Rock and I plan to be back in the future to try more items. All of that was accompanied by 3 tender, flaky, warm tortillas. Absolutely delightful. I didn't try my husband's French toast, but it was visually appealing and he ate every bite. Absolutely delicious breakfast and lovely ambiance. My boyfriend and I were looking for a good place to get a meal on a Sunday and came across this spot. Parking was quick and easy on the street in the neighborhood, and when we walked in, we were greeted and seated quickly. The menu is extensive but not overwhelming, and we were able to land on an order of chocolate chip pancakes and the MC benedict (that's eggs benedict with corned beef hash as the meat) as we sipped our coffees. The food was so good! The pancakes were huge and fluffy and drizzled with chocolate sauce. And the benedict, oh my god, probably the best I've ever had. I would get it again. I will get it again. Based on how tasty it was, I want to try lots of other dishes on the menu, too. Hopefully I have more breakfast dates there in the future. The sausage and eggs were just ok, potatoes were asked to be crispy but came out soggy. I really wanted to love this place but it's just ok. I got their specialty "famous ham & eggs" combo and that thing was HUGE! Definitely enough for two people! Pancakes were fluffy and delicious too! Don't forget the house made salsa - a must.
