The staff sucks! We waited for over 10 min to be seated while the place was half empty and nobody in front of us. The rude hostess had the nerve to ask how many after standing there looking at us for 10 minutes. She then grabbed silverware and menus and stormed away without a word! I ordered T-bone steak medium rare. 10:10: Other people on my table starts to get their order. 10:25: Everyone has their order. 10:35: Asked another waiter to check on my steak. 10:45: No water refilled ever since we got there. 10:50: Steak FINALLY comes but is REALLY rare. I went there on Tuesday 8/8/17 with my grandson, a six year old! I had never been there before but my grandson asked to eat there. He ordered eggs, rice, bacon, his eggs sunny side up. I was told I had to order the EGGS from the adult menu...why????? He had way too much food and could not eat it all. He wanted a shake before we left. I ordered that as well. To my SHOCK, I was charged $10.79 for a "child's" lunch AND I was charged $4.79 for the milkshake....highway robbery!!!! I was also told by another customer that on Tuesdays, children eat free! He not only did NOT get a free meal, he had to pay for an adult meal. Watch your back at this place. They cheat people! What a mess. Wow. What slow and confused service. There was an argument between staff at the hostess desk. No one knew who was next on the sheet full of names all over the place. Very disappointed in this location. I called in an order the day prior; when I go there at the designated pick up time, I'm told it'll be an hour wait. I can understand waiting if I hadn't ordered ahead, but you're really telling me that ordering a day in advance isn't enough prep time? 02/03/2018 Came in for lunch with my grandma & it was packed! Good thing we had an AWESOME waiter (2nd time ever) I think her name was Luleiga (Nice Samoan lady) usually we have a waiter that gives an impression that they hate their job but not her, she was ON IT! We were seated @12:50 she came to our table at 12:55 & next thing we knew it we had our food in 10minutes. Plus she had moved us from the middle table/booth to a full booth so my grandma was very happy! (She's uncomfortable with people seeing her eat) our server didn't even know my grandma wasn't happy with our seat, so that was awesome. That was the fastest service we had ever got from this Denny's. And she was not only quick for our table but all her tables she was serving. Service here is so horrible. Especially at night. My friends and I went to Denny's after a fun night bowling. There 3 workers working. A waitress, a cook and the dishwasher. Before we entered the restaurant I already can see how salty the waitress is. Didn't even greet us properly. We weren't all seated and don't even get an option to pick out a drink. Waitress with an attitude decided we should all have water. Took our order and she seemed like she didn't wanna be working. We ate here yesterday as breakfast was fading and the lunch crowd was beginning. It was packed but efficiently flowing. I thought the wait would be an hour but they said only 20 minutes. I was thinking that they were crazy, but we hung out anyway. Sure enough it was maybe closer to 25-30 minutes but by that time why leave, and we weren't in a rush. We will NOT eat at the Kunia location because the service is bad, and the food is not up to the same quality and we just go to the location in Kapolei. Because they were busy I looked around and everyone was helping during the rush and I was impressed that they at least appeared to be a team. Our meal was fast, hot, great, and tasty! I do wish that the cooks could do better on the egg cooking. Over easy is runny, Over medium whites are cooked - not brown from over cooking and the yolks should be runny, Well done like just needs to appear burnt I guess. My husband now has resorted to ordering scrambled eggs because they seem to be the only things that end up the same each time. He would love to cook his own back in the kitchen! It was a busy Saturday morning I will give them that. However it took 15 minutes after being seated and me staring at our waitress to get them to take our order. I was about 2 minutes longer before we were about to leave. I wish that I did because for some reason they think to have CNN on their TVs was a good idea. We don't watch the news at home. While we are waiting 30 minutes to get our food images of dead children are flashing across the screens. Immediately I asked a busboy to change the station. After 5 minutes of no action I got up to find a manager and they shut the TV off. Our food came and they forgot one of my children's meals. Disappointment would be a understatement. I have come during the week and have had a completely different experience. My suggestion come during the week early when they can have attention to detail. This location has a very popular on Sundays, be prepared to hear babies crying etc during your meal. The staff is very nice but stretched to thin, be sure to get all condiments etc when they take you order otherwise it will be a long time before they will be back to check on you. If I go to Denny's I go with an open mind that it won't be the best experience so that I'm not disappointed! This Denny's seems to change management as often as their prices. I get it - it's in Hawaii, but how hard is it to cook a grand slam anymore??? If I'm looking for 5 star I go where I can expect it...but Denny's is dropping the ball to the point that I'm amazed they can even pass the health codes. The cooks cant seem to differentiate the cooking levels of eggs, over easy vs. burnt! If I want my eggs cooked "over medium" I expect the whites done and yolks runny! My friends and I ate here at the Kapolei Denny's this past Friday night after a high school football game. We sat down about 11:30pm and stayed there till 1am. I had the large nachos because I was hungry. Normally, I would order the half size nachos plate. My friend ordered a hamburger with onion rings. When our orders arrived, we were not happy with how it looked! I had more chips than anything else! It was like that old Wendy's commercial, "Where's the beef"! I've been here before and the nachos I had in the past was full of the beef, cheese, tomato, everything. What happened? Did they change management or something? My friend's order arrived and the onion rings were burnt! And in some of the rings, no onions just the batter! And it was all burnt! Sorry, but we're not eating here anymore! I am from Mainland U.S. I used to lived in the San Fernando Valley in Southern California. I've been to many Denny's Restaurant in the Mainland U.S. from my old hometown in Van Nuys to even Las Vegas Nevada. Unfortunately, many Mainland U.S. Denny's Restaurant are either mediocre or they're not too good. The only acceptable Denny's Restaurant (which I rank a 3.5 star average) would be the Denny's of Van Nuys (located at intersection of Sherman Way & Havenhurst) & the one at Reseda (somewhere in Reseda Boulevard); but those 2 are mediocre to my opinion. However, since I moved to Oahu to help my son pursue his professional school life at UHM, my husband, my son & I one day stopped by your restaurant during our exploration of Oahu. & after eating at your restaurant, I have to say this: Denny's Restaurant of Kapolei: THIS IS THE BEST DENNY'S RESTAURANT I'VE EVER ATE. YOU GUYS TASTED 10 TIMES BETTER THAN MAINLAND U.S. DENNY'S!!!! This is how Denny's Restaurant supposed to be. This is what I like: 1. Restaurant environment. Dining area is clean. Outside of restaurant is clean & neat & welcoming. 2. Service. Immediate take in to your seat. Quick service. They are accurate too. They make sure your orders are available immediately & they bring out the food at perfect timing too. 3. Food. Now for the food, I liked most are: (1) your steaks. Partiuclarly your new Top Sirloin steak & your classic T-bone steak; nicely cook upon my request, well-tenderized meat & well marinated; nicely done. (2) I like your burgers, especially your Mushroom Swiss Burger & your Double Cheeseburger; they are good enough to compete with "Teddy's Bigger Better Bugers Restaurant" anyday ha ha ha; for the burgers, I like the burger size: they're gigantic!!! That is how good burgers is supposed to be. (3) I like your soups particularly your chouders like Clam Chouder Fridays, Potato Chouder Wednesdays, and Brocoli Cheddar Soup weekends. I thought I would give this Denny's another shot. My mother loved coming here and visiting it reminds me of my mom. It just does not live up to what it used to be. If you order off the value menu be prepared to be ignored or forgotten. I had to ask for butter for my biscuit. The gravy came cold and the biscuit was really hard. *sigh*. I was here for an hour and recieved 1 refill for my iced tea. I had to ask for Splenda. The jelly option was one small packet. Come on guys get it together...show some pride. She looked as if we were a nuisance to her day and led us to a table that didnt even add up to the number of peiple we have. Her name is Ashley, by the way. It's sad that the Pearlridge Denny's closed down in the last few years--that was the closest location to me--but if my family is out in the Kapolei area, we usually make a stop at this Denny's restaurant for breakfast (since it's one of the few locations left!). The eatery is never super busy when we've gone, and our meals have always come without an extremely long wait. There always seems to be new items on the menu whenever I visit Denny's, since I don't go very often and my visits are usually far and few between, but here's what I would recommend: "Red Velvet Pancake Puppies": I've had these pancake puppies before when they were part of the limited-edited "Hobbit" themed menu, but I'm glad to see that Denny's made this sweet treat part of the regular menu. It features six bite-sized round Red Velvet Pancake Puppies made with white chocolate chips, sprinkled with powdered sugar and served with a side of cream cheese icing. I liked the soft, moist consistency of the pancake puppies (like hush puppies but with pancake batter), and though I normally don't care for white chocolate chips, they worked for this dish. I only used a little bit of the cream cheese icing for dipping, since I normally eat my pancakes plain. However, any red velvet treat isn't complete without that luscious cream cheese frosting! This serves as a good snack or dessert; when I got it for breakfast, I wasn't completely full since the individual puppies are pretty small in size. "Build Your Own Grand Slam": This is one of my breakfast favorites on the Denny's menu ... and with every trip, I usually order something breakfast-like since that's my favorite meal of the day. You can choose any four items from an extensive list and create your own sampler platter. I usually go for four of the following: bacon strips (2), hash browns, sausage links (2), buttermilk biscuit, buttermilk pancakes (2) or English muffin. I usually try to get a good mixture of both starch and protein when ordering this meal ... even though pancakes are my go-to! "The Grand Slamwich": I haven't ordered this breakfast sandwich yet, but since I like the "Build Your Own Grand Slam," I'm sure it'd make for a good breakfast. It features two scrambled eggs, crumbled sausage, crispy bacon, shaved ham and American cheese on potato bread grilled with a maple spice spread. I already like this sandwich based on the description alone because it features crispy bacon and sausage (I have a hard time choosing between my two favorite breakfast meats), as well as grilled potato bread. The side of crispy hash browns that comes with this sandwich rounds out the meal. Definitely a good choice if I'm in the mood for something savory. "Moons Over My Hammy": This sandwich always appealed to me because I've always preferred hot ham-and-cheese sandwiches over cold ham-and-cheese sandwiches. This version features a ham and scrambled egg sandwich with Swiss and American cheeses on grilled sourdough. The savory sandwich comes served with hash browns. One of my friends ordered this sandwich before and said it was yummy, so I definitely want to get my own one day. "Peanut Butter Cup Pancake Breakfast": This is one of the newer items on the Denny's menu, and as a lover all ALL things peanut butter and chocolate, it's immediately at the top of my must-try list. Besides, pancakes are usually my go-to, which makes this entrée even more appealing. It features chocolate chips and white chocolate chips inside two buttermilk pancakes, topped with hot fudge and drizzled with peanut butter sauce. I like this entrée because it contains a good mix of sweet and savory -- the pancakes are served with two eggs and hash browns, plus your choice of two strips of bacon or two sausage links and a side of warm syrup. I would probably opt for the bacon, and I hope the peanut butter sauce is creamy and rich enough in flavor to balance out the pancakes' chocolatiness. Totally looking forward to trying these one day. "Cinnamon Pancake Breakfast": This is another recent addition to the Denny's menu, and since Cinnabons are one of my favorite desserts, I look forward to trying these sweet pancakes one day. The entrée includes cinnamon sauce and cream cheese icing drizzled over two buttermilk pancakes, which are served with two eggs and hash browns, plus two strips of bacon or two sausage links and a side of warm syrup. I've tried the "Cinnastack" pancakes from IHOP before and liked them--they were super sticky but very cinnamony--so I'm intrigued to see how the Denny's version compares. I've had several AMAZING cinnamon pancakes in my lifetime, so I hope this Denny's version comes topped with a generous portion of cream cheese icing. read more

We refrained from putting in a complaint and showed general respect to the waitress... The one time she passed by to see another table. Assuming the clamor and moderate number of customers was the cause of our poor service we sat and awaited, but as the people left and the room emptied, nothing changed! In the end, when our food arrived my little sisters order of mac'n'cheese looked old! What a disappointment it was. I couldn't express how sorry I was to my mother, whom I was treating.
