A lot of people see Denny's and pass them by. We like Denny's. No it's not because we're old. But this Denny's here on Roosevelt in Key West, the staff is so cheery and helpful, they are always looking out for my service dog, and actually the food is very very good! Most of the time we go there for breakfast, they'll be getting to know us now lol And I get the 55+ omelette with shell eggs. I'm always afraid that I'll be some wheat if I use the mixes. Wheat and Rita do not mix. They stuff it with tomato and cheese and onions and bacon. I mean what else could be better? I get crispy hashbrowns and believe it or not, a gluten-free English muffin! One night we were out and weren't able to get home in time to make anything so we decided we would try Denny's for dinner. Don't know the name of what I got but it was chicken on vegetables spicy with jalapeños and I'm telling you it was probably in the top 15 best things I've ever eaten in my life. It's you're typical breakfast diner menu, and we were able to get some healthy options from it. The food was good and filling. For what it was, I found it pricey and felt no desire to go back. I feel like if you're in the Keys and going to spend that much money on breakfast, you should check out the local breakfast joints for variety and experience. We spent 2 days in Key West as our staycation from Miami aboth days our breakfast experience was phenomenal thanks to both Faye and Amy! The first morning Faye was our waitress and she was on point! She made sure we had everything we needed and was so attentive. She checked on us a few times (not too much either!). Her service made a great start to our day! Because of Faye we went back the next morning before our trip back to Miami and this time Amy provided the same courteous and attentive service! Wow was this bad.. the turkey bacon tasted like it was cooked with regular bacon, and smelled like dirty water. The eggs were wet and oily for some reason. The pancakes were good. The reason for the three stars is the bathroom was dirty, the faucet handle came right off, and there was a sign asking to shut the water off (very classy). Our bill was $33 we left $50 on the table a very generous tip and walked out Only to be chased down by the manger saying we only left $30. It was clear the waitress pocketed $20. We don't like to go there since, which is a shame because I like Dennys. We boycotted it for 10 months and thought we would give it another try only to turn around when we saw the same waitress. The rare occasion when Ameal needed his breakfast fix, Denny's was selected based on the recommendation that the hash browns were crisp and well prepared. The wait staff at Denny's were great even after Ameal noted a dirty table that needed a wipe down. The orders were placed with Ameal ordering the chicken fried mystery meat which he quite enjoyed, two eggs over medium, hash browns and sour dough toast. The LOML ordered her usual eggs over medium, hash browns and sour dough toast, thank my lucky stars she was there to provide a better view than the wooden slatted plexiglass like material dangling near the booths next to us, I supposed none was needed at Ameals table. The food was hot, hash browns not as crisp as they should have been and the toast was slathered with what looked to be a 10 weight golden oil, that was certainly not butter! The bread was old, not too much flavor and we skipped past the first bite! Eggs were okay, and still hot when served. Total on the bill $25.72 and with a $5 dollar tip we paid over 30 bucks for two people...thank goodness we were not too hungry and in need of coffee. The line to pay was long and old, the person collecting the cash was rude, and snappy. The restrooms were dirty, in fact the entire place was dirty. I must also note that the young lady taking wrist temperatures at the door, n ever even glanced and the reading...oh well it's simply a shown in any case. A guy server wearing glasses came to take the drink order, first he said what I wanted to order wasn't available and after he didn't wait for my friend to finish what she wanted to order. When he brought her drink she asked about the one she wanted and he was very rude saying "we are short handed and I can't wait forever you to decide". We came in to this location on Veteran's Day for a free Grand Slam. Our server was so nice and I watched as the servers each helping each other out. It was nice to see the teamwork and appreciation they have for each other as co-workers. Everything we ordered was as expected and so fresh and hot. Only improvements I would say to the cook, over medium was not quite done...please cook them another 30-45 seconds once you flip them over. I'm not sure who enjoys all this margarine, but some of us would like a lot less of it. How about some real butter, as a breakfast lover real butter would ramp up my meal! To start it took my group of 11 45 minutes to be seated when there wasn't even more than maybe 10 people waiting for a seat (which is understandable because of social distancing). We ordered a full round of waters with lemons and received waters. When the "owner" gave us our waters we then asked again for lemons and he was very rude about it. He said "anything else before I leave and have to come back again". I order a bacon avocado cheeseburger with beyond meat (bacon on the side for a friend) wit sautéed mushrooms because I'm pescatarian. My burger comes and I'm so excited and hungry to eat, I take one bite into my burger only to find out it is REAL beef, NOT beyond meat. I have been pescatarian for 3 years eating only fish for meat and I am LIVID at the fact that I have taken my first bite of beef in 3 years. My server (Jacqueline) was very rude about handling the situation. She kept staring at me with a pause before responding to my concerns. My whole family was finished eating before my actual beyond burger came out. When the right burger cake out there were no mushrooms, the check came shortly after and she charged me full price for the entire meal PLUS for the mushrooms that I didn't even get on my correct burger. I then asked for some sort of discount for her HUGE mistake of bringing me real meat and all she did was take my milkshake off. As if the milkshake was the problem.
