My husband was on a business trip...on his birthday...and told me he was eating at the counter at the Lacey Denny's. I called and asked if the staff could possibly acknowledge his birthday. Iris was great! She asked for a description and said "Birthday! I'm on it!" Not even 5 minutes later I got a very appreciative text from the hubby. My daughter and I ate brunch here on July 3; I ordered the Grand Slam and she ordered a Belgian Waffle. I loved our waitress! However, the food was horrible. My hash browns were burnt, my pancakes tasted like Vanilla, and the sausage tasted awful (I fed them to my dog). My daughter was also, not impressed with her meal. So, I'm not in the habit of reviewing chain restaurants, because one has a certain baseline expectation of performance going in, and generally chains and franchises are more than capable of hitting the mark. However, that bar isn't particularly high, and therefore a failure to meet even mediocre expectations is worth providing a word of warning to others. Also, I feel a bit justified after reading the other one-star reviews, because these are all consistent problems with this location. As a further preface, let me note that I have worked in the service industry for over a decade, front and back of house, from dishwasher to chef to upper management, and I understand the challenges the service industry presents, as well as what might be reasonably expected in the way of cuisine and professional conduct. Issues of note, in order of occurrence: -Slow seating, even though the dining room was largely deserted. -My partner's order was entered and prepared incorrectly (single substitution of basic item), after the waiter read it back twice, slowly. The waiter was cordial and on a first-name basis with a few regulars as they entered, indicating that he was not new to the position. -My bacon was burned to the point of being largely inedible, my partner's breakfast meats failed to arrive at all, although they came standard with her menu item (seperate error from failure to substitute). The eggs were watery, undercooked, and should not have been sent out of the kitchen. This is not a matter of willingness to correct the order after the fact; a cook who sends out burned and undercooked food on the same plate, as well as sloppy half-orders is performing abysmally and/or has been inadequately trained. -Same waiter loudly discussed the bill, appearance, and tip of another party after they left, about five feet from our table, which is a major faux-pas on any number of levels. At any restaurant I have ever worked at, this would have been a fireable lack of decorum. As a service professional and restaurant consultant, I was astounded at the lack of professionalism from both front and back of house staff. However, given the consistent nature of the complaints levied against this establishment, I doubt the management feels these issues need to be addressed, as they have access to a steady captive audience of nearby hotel guests, and have no investment in cultivating a culture of even passable service. read more

I wasn't happy with the service At all. I've gone here a few times and never happy I've decided I'm not going back again. Prices however are reasonable Tried this place again- 0 stars is what it would get if possible! Service is slow and apparently uber orders take priority- we were here for 45 min waiting for our food when the waitress informed us a large uber order had come in and backed up the kitchen. The few times I've been here, usually end with disappointment. I'd only come here when a group of friends decide apon this place. The only perk would be that they have a bar. I prefer going across the street to Shari's or O'blarney's for food. My last let down here, met up with a group of friends, ordered a banana split. But the time it arrived, it looked like soup. My husband and I visited the Denny's a few weeks ago. Our waitperson was attentive, jovial, and good at answering my questions about gluten/wheat free food. I was assured that I would not be contaminated. (I didn't have any ill-effects) I was amazed by their menu and the many food items noted as gluten free (GF). I had their burger and fries with a GF English muffin. It was very good and didn't upset my stomach like the one at the Pacific Ave. SW location in Lakewood. The atmosphere was casual, not overly loud. We will definitely be visiting this Denny's again. read more

Stopped here over the weekend while on a road trip. Food was okay (a little less than what I'd expect from a Denny's), but the service was sub-par. The restaurant wasn't empty, but it was far from busy. It also seemed that there were at least a few regulars in there, since the two waitresses/hostesses were chatting with them. Our food came fairly quickly. Mine was fine, but my mother had ordered her eggs over-medium (whites fully cooked, but the yolk runny), and while one egg was done correctly, the other had the whites barely cooked. We didn't say anything, one because we just wanted to eat and be on our way, the other that our waitress wasn't nearby to flag down. When my mom was done, she came back to clear my mom's plate, and I asked for a box to take my leftovers in. Most places would bring you your check at this point, but she just dropped off the box and it took 10 minutes for her to bring our check. Plus, since the other waitress/hostess was also serving customers, we had to wait to pay. Considering we had planned to make this a quick stop on our way, I was very displeased with the inattentiveness of the staff. read more

Came to this Denny's for our anniversary and had amazing service. Came back again this past Saturday and had the complete opposite. It took someone well over 10 minutes to even acknowledge us and there was no one else even waiting to be seated. Once we were finally seated, no one ever came back. Extremely disappointed in this locations customer service. I called in a order Thursday night 8/9/18 at approximately 10pm, Christina was the name of the woman who helped me. Once I got home, I realized that I was missing my girlfriend's meal, the loaded veggie omelette. I immediately called the store, and Christina told me she noticed the meal was left out of the bag and that she would leave a note on her managers desk with my name and contact info so I could get compensated for my troubles. So two days later, (8/11/18 730pm) I have my girlfriend call the place in advance to let them know the situation, to which the woman (iris) replied "Haven't heard this one before" as if we were trying to scam them. So i head there myself with the proof of purchase in hand and upon letting them know the situation the woman(iris) didnt even say sorry, or offer to put the meal on the house. She just told me " we can make you the omelette for free" I kept telling her it's not free if I already paid for it. She brings out another manager (Kim) who tells me the same thing. I told the two of them I'm dissatisfied with the service to which they replied "we can't make any exceptions it's all we can do". I will never bring my business here again. Tipping is an option!!..but if your pressured to tip, well then it's no longer a tip...its a hand out..a payment that says,.treat me with respect the next time I come back...At this dennys, respect isn't free,..it has to be purchased...I walked in during early morning hrs...had one cup of coffee..thats it!!..never asked for any refills..the only reason I tipped a dollar was to avoid resentment..wasnt until after I left I thought..why the he'll did I do that for?..it wasn't good enough to pay for the coffee..there was more required...but I didn't expect that...I was caught off guard..lots of restaurants do this and it's considered normal...but it's a tacky way to do business no matter which way you slice it read more

The wait time was ridiculous considering the amount of open tables. Waitress forgot numerous aspects of our order and needed reminding multiple times. Majority of "food" was brought to us cold. Aforementioned "food", if served to inmates, would be considered cruel and unusual punishment. Wouldn't usually write a review about a Denny's since its everywhere and its nothing special. We went there to get out ta the cold and get something cheap off the value menu. Walked in and was told they aren't making food for another 2 hours. It was 4pm. The waitress said they only had soup and salad. We asked to have a cup of coffee and were never given a menu. The man in the kitchen was just constantly starring at us sitting at the table even after he apologized for the loud "construction" they were doing in the kitchen, very uncomfortable and weird. It was extremely loud from their banging in the kitchen. We were very hungry and decided to order to bowls of soup. They were really really small bowls. They were far less than what you would get from a can of progresso soup. We got our check and it came to 15! Not discounted even a little for not having Amy food options or having to sit through loud hammering and drills in the kitchen. We will never go back to this restaurant. read more

This place not only has the WORST customer service but the food portions and prices are horrible as well. The waitress was extremely rude and management was not any better. The chicken strips in my $12 chicken strip dinner were the size of my pointy finger and I was told sorry that's how they come frozen we can't fix that. Well yeah you can, you can either lower the price or buy from a different company! The waitress treated us like her worst enemy and barely spoke to us even though we were polite and didn't let her attitude change the way we treated her. If you want good customer service do not eat at dennys and DEFINETLY DO NOT SIT IN THE BAR. Service is super slow, it's like they forgot they seated us in there. Not a good experience. Went for breakfast with my parents. The service was really slow even though it wasn't that busy. I ordered the pecan pancakes, scrambled eggs, hash brown and sausage. The hash browns were cold by the time I got them and the scrambled eggs had egg shells in them. My dad ordered the Siracha burger and broccoli soup and never got the burger. We didn't wanna wait longer for them to make one so we just waited for our server to come back to get a to go box but I still ended up having to go up to the counter and ask a different server for one. Got seated and waited 15 minutes to get our order taken and kept getting yelled at from across the dining hall from the manager that "give her a minute, she will be right with you. Went to pay and had an online Denny's rewards coupon for 20% off from Denny's rewards and she said she couldn't use if because it wasn't on my card. Absolutely horrible place with terrible employees. My mother and I went in last night (Oct. 24th) at about 9:40pm, before any of the Homecoming "crowd" had arrived. Which was only about 3 tables of kids. Even so, it took 15 minutes just to get 2 coffees to our table and my mothers mug was completely smeared in hot pink sparkly lipstick. It took another 10 minutes for her mug to be replaced with a much smaller unmarked mug. After another 10 minutes nobody came back still, and I had to walk to the counter to get her refill. This was handed back to me sticky, because the older female manager was busy sticking her fingers into the plates of food sitting on the pick up window one by one and hadn't washed her hands. at almost 11pm some one finally took our orders. 20 minutes later I noticed people who had sat down far after us were already receiving their checks. I watched as our food finally came to the window, yet still sat there long enough to have the "finger poke check" I'm assuming this woman deems necessary for all food coming out to enter people's mouths. The floors and tables were not being cleaned and were filthy and sticky, meanwhile table after table were still sat down to these places while my mother and I listened to other people's complaints in our general seating area. One girl asked her mother "Why is my mug sparkly?" Well, that's because I watched the waitress bring my mother's mug which some one had covered in lipstick, over to the counter, wipe it off with her apron, refill it.. and stick it on the table next to us for a 15 year old girl to "enjoy". When we couldn't take the wait anymore at 11:50pm I asked that they just stick what by now was cold leftovers sitting on the pick up window into To-Go boxes, instead they brought over the tiny doggy boxes and told us we had to do it ourselves and that no larger boxes were available. However, yet another 15 minutes later we saw a huge pile of proper sized boxes come out so I made sure they were put in those as they were supposed to be. We waited at the register for some one to come and ring us up. Told the manager about the situation and noted to her that the restaurant wasn't anywhere near busy enough to make this sort of problem anywhere near understandable, and she actually blamed US for the entire thing. "You shouldn't have come tonight then" and "I told everyone coming in that it was a bad idea because of the Homecoming crowd." "You should have known better." THREE tables of high schoolers on an otherwise easy night does NOT mean your restaurant should look like Oscar the Grouch through a Kegger in your restaurant. Nor does it mean your service should be so slow that you can literally still be waiting for your food the next day. If you are a popular chain restaurant off the side of an expressway and you want to compete with other neighboring restaurants you do NOT blame your customers, you do NOT give unsanitary, slow, and all around poor service, and you do NOT expect those people to ever return. We found long thick black hairs and some shorter curly hairs in our food on top of this. My mother has late stage 4 Cancer so clearly she has no hair in which to drop into her food, I have straight Salt and peppery brown hair so again, was not mine. My mother's immune system is severely compromised at this stage in her Cancer treatment's and if she becomes ill because people at Denny's didn't want to follow protocol for safe and proper food handling and table sanitation, the next person who sits at your booth is going to be a lawyer. As younger people my mother and I both have done all their jobs for a living, we know that there is absolutely no excuse for such a rotten situation to ever occur. I eat at this Denny's many times a year. I went there earlier today for lunch, and I had to give them 5 stars for a new item on the menu. I had the South By Southwest Chicken Skillet for lunch, and I recommend it. It is a bit spicy, but not too much, but then again, I like spicy food. It does have a lot of flavor. Showed up with my family, we stood at the counter waiting to be seated (no one in line and half way full inside) for approx 10-15 minutes, during that time several waitresses passed by and completely ignored us. The inside is shared with a lounge and everything appears to be run down even the service. The outside looked as though it hasn't been cleaned in years, why anyone would eat here, who knows the place is gross and disgusting and there service is crap. I would recommend IHOP there service is great and the staff is friendly, plus it looks good inside and out. read more

This was probably the worst service I've ever had. I took my son here cus that's where he wanted to go for breakfast. We get in and wait for probably 5 mins for someone to even acknowledge we were there. Once they did, the gentleman didn't even ask how I was doing etc... Not even a hi. He just asked how many? I said 2. He didn't say anything. Didn't even say how long the wait was if we were next nothing. We waited about 20 mins before my son got bored and hungry so I tried to find someone to tell that we were no longer wanting to wait but no one could be found. Very bad experience. Ok... so they did the remodel. Very nice new look, we like to eat in the bar they messed that up, Removed the pool table a couple of months ago ( that only a few people used anyway) and replaced it with dart boards. ( was going to bring in more to the bar ...did not ) now they are gone too. They removed the corner booth that they could seat at least 6 people and another 3 between there and the entry door, so now there a two booth. They removed the 4 tables in the center of the room and replaced them with tall bar type tables ( need to replace them with tables that can be put together so that a large group can get together at ).... Oh and I have not said that they could have spent a few $$$ in the bath rooms new sink and faucets Denny's spent a lot of money on this store and could have done a lot better and I have not said anything about the seating in the main dinning room. One more thing that they did was remove the glass between the main dining room and the bar which may prove to be a good thing for heat and AC in the bar area. read more
