I saw a lot of negative reviews on here before I went, so maybe my expectations were low, but my experience was quite positive. I went there around 12:30 (lunchtime) on a Sunday, right in the middle of the post church "grand slam". The place was pretty packed, but we waited less than five minutes to be seated. Someone immediately took our drink order when we sat down and we never had to ask for refills. The food took no more than 15-20 minutes to come out and the hamburgers were great, with plenty of seasoned fries on the side. To top it all off, we had a coupon for buy 1 entree, get one free :) You can't beat $17 for two people. I know what you're thinking, is Denny's really a 4 star restaurant? It is for its market. Went there sunday evening, they were short staffed and we waited for 20 minutes. Because I was too tired from traveling I decided to stay and eat, but when we were seated the waitress was exhausted but friendly. They took our order and the food was exactly what we ordered and very quick. I was impressed, I thought we would be there for another hour or so. Great service, friendly people, and good food. While it's not new, snazzy, or even modern - the "Dennys Diner" is still a Dennys at heart. Service can be a little slow during peak rush (I.e. Breakfast) but otherwise it's ok. I do get frustrated when I eat breakfast there so I tend to avoid it unless I use their Breakfast to Go option (which is suprisingly good). Plus: they serve beer ... who knew? read more

Possibly the worst food I have ever ate. Every time I eat here it is so disappointing. Today was the icing on the cake. The service is horrible, the restaurant smells like dirty wet towels, menus are filthy and sticky and the food is absolutely disgusting.. We're in Marina staying at the Sanctuary Beach Resort and decided to pop in here for a quick breakfast. The parking lot doesn't seem very big and the wait to be seated for two (despite empty booths) was about twenty minutes. The host, Pamela, seemed bothered to ring up the lady in front of us at the register. I know this is Denny's, and for that I have no expectations; however, what really put me off was that while we were waiting to check in at the register and wait for a seat, Pamela, who is either the host or manager, asked the lady paying in front of us if she left the tip on the table or if she was planning to charge it to her card. RUDE!!!!! When we went to pay she also asked us the same question, which I felt offended by. I am a very good tipper, especially when I receive good service; however her asking about the tip embarrassed me and I had no problem nicely telling her that I felt her question was rude, to which she ignored. I then asked her if tipping is voluntary and at the discretion of the customer, to which she quietly said it was and I responded with a simply thank you. Our server Norma or something like that was very nice and did receive a nice tip reflecting our satisfaction with her service. Also, when my husband and I were finally seated and looking through the menus we realized that we both had two completely different menus with different items-odd. Stopped by here recently during a recent foto trip. The booth benches has a color pattern similar to the bedsheets of a Motel 6 suite!! Though others were waiting, no wait practically to be seated. The breakfast combination I wanted wasn't available but waitress was kind enough to help me with my order of eggs, sausages with hash browns without paying a fortune. Served quick enough. This is the absolute worse Denny's breakfast that I have had the displeasure of dining on. I stopped in around 7 am. The customer service was non existent. I ordered the grand slam breakfast 2 pancakes, ham steak, hash browns, and scrambled eggs. I asked for orange juice- sorry we are out of orange juice, so I asked for tomato juice, same reply sorry we are out of tomato juice. I responded OK do you have apple juice? I'll check was the reply. The waitress brought the apple juice. I have no idea what brand they purchase but it was awful! It had to be watered down I could barely taste the apple at all. On our way back from Monterey this morning and we were hungry for breakfast so we came to this Denny's. We got seated right away, menus and drink orders quickly. I hand a build your own breakfast of 2 eggs, 2 sausage with hash browns and a biscuit. Hubby had their Ultimate Omelet. When mine got to the table my eggs were a little over done and our waitress promptly took them back for some more, I appreciated that. So she left me with the hash brown and sausage, which were cold. But I ate them anyway. Hubby Omelet was dry and crumbly on the inside but he said it tasted ok. The food today was just ok but their service was really good. read more

It's a Denny's... There's not much else to say, but it's pretty much the only open place to eat at in the evenings (everything else generally closes by 9 pm). It's nice to know that it's open 24 hours, and it's inexpensive. Yeah, that's about it. If you get the chance, go to Sakura in P.G. instead... Been sitting here for 35 minutes so far waiting and two orders of pancakes and biscuits/gravey. The manager was impolite and the only person that seemed nice was our waitress. Dude the manager took food off of a plate going out, with her bare hands..... Gross The hash browns are burnt and tiny. The refills on endless pancakes are half as big. And there are apparently five managers. Not to mention the fact that one of their high school aged workers keeps yelling at the cooks. This place sucks. The first time I went here it was eh, it seems like it's not getting any better! I am looking at all the positive reviews from a year to two years ago and like I said it's not getting better. I think the problem is that they are short on staff and need to really clean up the place because it really scares me to think how my food is being handled by the looks of the filthy place. I'm really disappointed that this is one of my first terrible Dennys experiences. My friends and I came in at 10pm and were not even spoken to until 10:25. After that, they told us we had to wait an additional 10 minutes for a seat, when there were clearly multiple open booths. We were seated after another 20 minutes of waiting in a secluded back room. Our server did not even come to get us drinks for another 20 minutes. The food was completely inedible. My boy friend's burger looked like a hockey puck and he could not eat any of it. I could not eat any of my food as well. It was $29 for a meal that we did not even eat, much less enjoy. This is incredibly disappointing and one of the worst experiences we have ever had. To be completely honest with you, had I not been in a good mood that morning i would've given this place 1 star. I can see that they're trying, and there was nothing wrong with the food. But at some point they will have to reckon with all these negative reviews and fix things. I'm talking about the grand total of 3 people working the front of the restaurant on a Saturday morning. On 4th of July weekend even. One cashier/hostess. One waitress. One busboy. For the entire restaurant. I would've spoken to the manager, but whoever that was was nowhere to be found. When I complained to the cashier/hostess about the waitress not having come by to take our order after 15 minutes, she apologized. The waitress apologized too, but still seemed rushed. Of course she was. She was the only waitress working the floor! Food-wise the breakfast was on par with other Denny's I've dined in. Fact is the chicken fried steak I ordered was crispy and delicious. Such a shame that bad service would ruin the entire dining experience. Perhaps management doesn't get it because this location benefits from its location (right next to a motel and just off the freeway), and there's enough volume to make up for a lack of repeat business. But if they were at all interested in making this franchise at least be on par with other Denny's I've been to, then they should work on their service problems. read more

When we arrived there was nobody there to seat us and then when they finally arrived we told them we had a party of 10. They told us only parties of 6, which we can understand with the current conditions, so we quickly told them we were willing to split up into two groups. He told us he would be right back. I watched as he went and mumbled to another coworker and then they acted as if we weren't there. We also watched as one customer got up to get some utensils because they were taking their time getting him his silverware. Poor service and very rude of them to ignore us. Waitress (although friendly)was sitting down talking to a friend and watching videos on her phone while all customers in the restaurant were unattended for prolonged periods of time. Based on previous reviews, this seems to be happening frequently and was not an isolated event. Cashier was passive when seating us. Server didn't understand order of the serving process and had attitude rather than positive attitude. She messed up our order in many ways and tried to reconcile with mozzarella sticks with old celery and NO marinara. My parents have been regular customers at this Denny's for the past six years, and as a family we have gone there every so often for the past twenty-five. I'm leaving this review to say thank you to the staff here (and put some of the other reviews i'm seeing into perspective..). First let me just say that today is my dad's 66th birthday and the staff gave him the royal treatment! -Though they always give my parents the best treatment and go out of their way to give them a great experience. They also always remember what foods they like, and make sure my dad's coffee mug is full. So look guys, this is a Denny's. We know what kind of food to expect, and it being fairly old we know everything is not always in tip-top-shape, but at the end of the day its a chill place to eat! And again, I have to give the staff here my deepest thanks for their treatment of my parents.
