I would give them no stars. The place was unorganized and no one was in. When we walked in was told to have a seat they would be right with us. The restaurant was almost completely empty so we thought it would be quick. Watched as they seated another person and never said a word to us. After approx 15 minutes I ask whose the manager and it was the lady who was cleaning the tables. I approached her and just ask why we hadn't been seated and she said "oh I was just coming to get you". I ask her what was the hold up because they seated the people who came in after us and she was like I was just cleaning your table. I just said never mind because the place was empty there was no reason we should have been waiting. Staff wasn't friendly or helpful. Never gave me anyone's name when I ask for the managers name. Two of my friends and I walked in to this Dennys, stood right in front of the host, Shannon, who avoided eye contact with us at all cost for at least 10 minutes while we waited for her to acknowledge us. My family and I waited what seemed like an exceptionally long time to be seated, perhaps only 20 minutes, but then of course the restaurant was perhaps more than half empty, and then we waited what seemed like an hour to get our food, and when it was served it was mostly improperly cooked, like toast that was not toasted (a dab of margarine was put on bread and the margarine did not melt since the bread was not "toast"(ed), and the grits were in a solid (baseball like) form - they should have been a little creamy, and pretty much all the food was cold. To say the least we were all very disappointed. It seemed like everything that could go wrong did go wrong. My family and I will remain loyal customers of Denny's because we know from our many experiences at Denny's that this was not a normal Denny's experience, we love your restaurants and they are generally wonderful. I love this location. I have never had a bad experience. The servers are always very nice. They have really good food. Their pancakes are always fluffy. Their burgers are surprisingly super delicious and reasonably priced. I love the location. It's very convenient. This is a dinner so don't expect a high end service. If you get past that then it's a great place. Better than some other more expensive places. Overall they get two thumbs up from me. read more

I understand today is a holiday and expected a wait but there weren't that many people here and the hostess seemed a little overwhelmed being in the service industry I felt bad for her. But once we were seated my frustration began. The amount of bad reviews for this one location is sad. I wish I had never given them my money. Terrible service. It took 20 minutes after we sat down for a waiter to ask if we had even ordered yet which we hadn't. It then took another 50 minutes for us to get four breakfast plates and mac n cheese. My friend fell asleep while waiting! They sat a group of 10 noisy, cussing college kids right next to us in the non-busy restaurant AFTER we sat down but they got all ten plates BEFORE we got our five. They didn't even bring my full entree and that took another ten minutes. The pancakes were cold, no one we complained to was very apologetic, they couldn't even bring simple things we asked for like syrup, take-out boxes and more coffee, and the manager seemed to hide in the back when we repeatedly asked to talk to him. I just had breakfast here with my 2 kids. Never ate at this location. Now I know why it has such a low rating. First, when our food was brought out there was a hair in my hash browns hanging off the plate. Let the waitress know. She said she'll have them make me a new plate. No. They made new hash browns and just slid the old ones off and put the new has browns on the plate. Couldn't stomach that. Then my daughter was cutting into her hash browns and lo and behold....another hair. I spoke with the manager and informed him. He said he didn't know what was going on since his cooks wear hair nets. Obviously not. He was kind enough to offer to cook us something else but I could not stomach it. I asked for the bill and he said not to worry about it. I said I will my pay for my sons meal since his was okay and he finished most of it. Manager was kind and said it is alright. Worst Denny's experience of my life! Ed the manager was soooo rude! Beware! So, we are on vacation in Monterey & can't decide on what to eat, we stop at Denny's since we already know what we like here. Order our food & drinks & wait. We had added soups to both of our meals because we love the chicken noodle at our local Denny's. The soup comes out COLD, & worse, it is 99% water, no noodles or chicken. We ask the waitress how come its different & her answer was "Oh its the end of the pot so he added water but I can reheat it if you want." As if that's an ACCEPTABLE answer. We said well, we don't want them then there's nothing but water & our Denny's has creamy soup. She said "I'll have to see." See what?! We got the soup, within a minute we sent it back what does she need to see? Anyways, the rest of the food comes out & it is GOOD, no problems, actually the potatoes were great the sandwich was great, everything, but we couldn't get a refill for the life of us (waitress was visibly upset that we didn't want to keep the bottom of the pot watered down cold soup). After we finished our meals, we went up to pay & the waitress asks the manager ED to take the soups off because we didn't like that they were cold & watery. We told him "sorry we didn't like it, it was cold & nothing but water & our waitress told us it was the last of the pot so that's why." His answer: "Whatever, it never has a lot of noodles anyway." I replied "Our Denny's soup is creamy & has noodles." His answer: "whatever I took care of it." He was flailing his hands around the entire time like a 3 year old with a temper tantrum as if he didn't want to hear US APOLOGIZING for not liking the soup. He on the other hand NEVER apologized (nor did the waitress). Instead, they were upset with US for not eating cold watery soup. INSANITY! It took everything in me not to react. Hooray for Denny's! My friends and I stayed up two nights in a row at this place, for no other reason than to stay up two nights in a row. We drank a couple gallons of weak coffee, ate a dozen plates of fries, and chowed down on some greasy burgers. After a bad bout of indigestion and gas, we finally gave up and went home. It was AWESOME. The waitresses were patient, and they all had a good sense of humor. I would give it zero stars if I could. To start off, walking in the manager at the register (he was African American, couldn't get his name) was cursing, had a bad attitude and was extremely rude. I guess I should have gone on Yelp before going. We were in town on vacation and my 4 year old wanted Denny's. The hostess that seated us acted like her being there was torture. Would it kill her to smile? I guess so. We ordered drinks and when the glasses arrived there was leftover food caked on them. That should have been our first indicator, but we ordered food anyway. Our 3 and 4 year old had to go to the bathroom, which was the tipping point. There was no toilet paper in either women's stall; probably because it was all on the floor. The trash cans were overflowing with trash (at 9am) and there was literally HAIR in the sink drain. As soon as we got back to our table the food arrived. Surprise surprise! The plates were dirty. The manager came around to see how the food was and we told him we would pay for it but we weren't eating it. Perhaps this location should be on Undercover Boss. The only good thing to come out of this incident was going to Loulou's Griddle in the Middle afterwards, which was AMAZING. read more

This WAS the best denny's i have ever been to. me and along with 10-20 other people have gone here every friday and saturday for months until the new night manager loretta was employed. Paul and Jennifer are by far the best waiters and waitresses i have ever chatted with. Loretta attempted to kick me our loyal group of 10+ out simply for asking for a table. after this, she said we could only stay for one hour. we asked why and she tipo-toed around it. the only times we have eaten there under her watch were terrible, the service was EXTRA slwo, and they kicked us out exactly one hour after we were seated. saturday night she threatened to call the police on us for loitering. loretta ruins this denny's. besides her, this is my all time favoritve place to be on the weekends. read more

I can't really add much to what has been said...food ok, waitstaff nice enough but the place was FILTHY! The bussing staff just wiped all the food and crumbs right onto the carpet and left it there. Then, the waiters and hostess and manager just walked right over all the garbage to seat people and deliver food! IT WAS DISGUSTING to sit and eat my food and look at that horrible mess. The only reason why I'm even giving 2 stars for this is because of my server Carrie. She was a great waitress. She was very attentive and caring towards our problem. With that being said, the rest was a terrible experience. We got a couple quesadillas that had enough cheese for about 1/4 the quesadilla. After pointing this out to the manager and showing him a slice that literally had no cheese, he made us 1 more quesadilla and discounted the bill 15%. Out late with a group of friends I found myself at Denny's where we planned to wind down and just enjoy the beauty of friendship. Yet we weren't expecting to be making a new friend as a result of our dining choice. The most wonderful waitress in training I've ever had the pleasure of being served by stole our hearts with her kindness and overall beautiful personality. Later in the meal I stepped outside with a friend to enjoy a late night breeze. Yet what happened next was something I did not expect. I saw our kind waitress outside enjoying a break until another employee stepped outside with words I wish I never had to hear. An employee named Stephanie exited the building with a hot temper yet seemingly the coldest words Ive heard yet in my young life. Using explicit language and names that enveloped the essence of hatred Stephanie verbally demolished our waitress who quietly just returned to work without a single reply. Later in the night I felt it my obligation to explain to Stephanie that her actions and words, keep in mind in front of many customers where not acceptable any where no less the place you work. Unaware that Stephanie's cousin a large male was listening in from one of the booths, I explained to Stephanie the professionalism that should be displayed when you wear the brand of your employer. I was soon interrupted by Stephanie's cousin, who stood up quickly from his table seeming to radiate malice and hatred. He approached me and my friend and threatened to bash my friends ears in. We soon decided it best to just exit the building and wait for an Uber and leave this unnerving Denny's saga behind us. Outside waiting for an Uber Stephanie's cousin had decided his piece of the conversation had not been completely communicated to his liking. He approached one of my friends in an attempt to began a physical altercation screaming "I'll take you and squad on, wassup ......". Without hesitation another friend of mine stepped between parties to ensure no one would be going to jail over Stephanie's lack of professionalism. In doing so he was pushed but managed to get Stephanie's cousin to leave peacefully. I pitty the fool that says Stephanie's cousin could've "took on squad". Because of this situation I had a very unenjoyable dining experience, yet one angel(Angie the waitress) was able to make a one star night into a three star review. And thus ends the saga of Denny's with hint of Stephanie and her cousin. read more
