They're trying and doing their best in the 2021 COVID times. Sunday brunch was quite the wait (20 mins or so), but that might just be normal for the seating restrictions. Still, the waitress and waiters were prompt and attentive. Food is what you would expect at Denny's - they are very consistent with it. Negative stars here! We used to LOVE Denny's when we lived in Auburn. This one, not so much. A few weeks ago, we (2of us) were turned away 2 hours before closing because they had A (1) big table in a deserted restaurant. Tonight was delivered. Where do I even start? Everything arrived in a timely manner. Thanks for that. It arrived in SEALED bags, that was pretty cool. But the contents, wow. Let's see if I can be acutely descriptive. I ordered the hot turkey and dressing dinner with mashed potatoes, and a side of onion rings. Everything was so cold we had to microwave our freshly delivered meal. My mashed were replaced with the soggiest cold onion rings I've ever seen. One tasted watery so I squeezed it in my hand, only to produce 1/2 a shot glass of water. . There were 3 slices of super salty turkey, covering a smear of watery, cold, dressing. The gravy wasn't too bad, but still tasted watered down. ( we have probably eaten gallons of Denny's gravy in our lifetimes so we know what it tastes like). By the time I looked at my side of onion rings that I actually ordered. I was too done with Denny's, threw everything in the garbage and called Pizza Hut. They must think anyone that orders a side of onion rings must REALLY love onion rings so they automatically substitute other foods for rings. This is our last straw. Denny's lost 2 lifetime customers tonight. I see it already has crappy reviews. Hopefully it will close and some other restaurant moves in that actually takes pride in there business. I fully understand there is a labor crisis, but if you're a restaurant and you can't put good food out and treat your customers with care and respect, it's super easy. If I could give them a zero I would. The food is horrible the dishes were dirty and the lady in front of us picked hair out of her pancake as we sit waiting for our food. We get our food and it's just a joke my Philly cheesestake omelet has sliced cheese not grated and barely any filling. My husband got a santafey skillet and wow it was just dry and had no flavor. My family and I travelled over 4 hours and stopped by to get something at this location. We waited over 1.5 hours just for the kids to get their food and another half an hour to get ours. We also didn't get some items that we asked for such as ranch, straws, etc. By the time we got out food, we wanted to leave so we asked for the bill. The cashier, though nice and very apologetic, decided to bunch up all our orders and divide it by 4, but we just wanted to pay our part. I have no idea what she did, but she insisted we had to pay the rest in cash, and we didn't have the amount she was asking (I mean, seriously, who still carries 50+ in cash nowadays?). I ordered uber eats and couldn't figure out how to add avocado. So I called Denny's to see if someone could add it to my order. Jodi answered the phone and told me no and that I'd have to call uber eats. I told her that I'm unfamiliar with the app and I just need her to add it to my order. She rudely said no so I asked to speak to a manager. She told me that she was the manager and that she couldn't help me and that I should go to the store to get the avocado myself. I told her she was rude and hung up. My order was missing items and I just think it was inconvenient that she couldnt add something that cost $1 to my order. Recently reopened and we waited and waited 30 minutes for a cold cup of coffee... Then waited 30 more minutes for a hot cup of coffee... 45 minutes later still waiting for our food and appetizers we decided to leave since they still had not started any of our food. Gave this place another chance and so far it has taken 20 minutes to be seated another 20 to see a waitress for our drink order. In fear we might not see anyone for another 20 we also ordered our food. 25 mins the food arrives and everything is good as far as Denny's goes. Absolutely great experience. From servers rushing to clean and make a booth available for us, to excellent customer service, (Travis especially), to the speed the food arrived, to the food itself.....which was incredibly good. As we ate, we watched every staff member, work together and help each other out and were blown away by the teamwork and efficiency we saw, (we have both spent many years in leadership and team management). Denny's food is Denny's food... Your regular fast food chain restaurant meal. I'm not really reviewing this for the food. I'm reviewing it for the location and the staff. I'm constantly doing the drive down I-5 from Bellingham to Longview, and I always try to hit this Dennys for my big stop. It's right off I-5, in a safe and lit up area on College Way. The traffic is decent and even when it's not, there are plenty of stop lights to get to if you need to do a few turn arounds to get back on I-5. The waiters are friendly, service is usually pretty fast, and I've never had any issues with other customers being rude or annoying. Definitely my favorite Denny's. read more

Usually I hate chain restaurants with a passion and would give them 1 star. The physical building and food menu are like any Denny's anywhere - drab and unhealthy respectively. However, this place earned two additional stars above the regular chain because we had incredibly good service. We came in with a large group of 10 with 3 separate parties not sitting in any particular order. Our server immediately asked if there were different checks and handled the orders and bills without any problems at all. The food was as expected, although I managed to find a somewhat healthy salad. Afterwards, we mentioned the special occassion that brought us all together and without question or hesitation our server offered a free desert on the house. Without question, our server did a fantastic job and really should be working at a more upscale place since she'd probably make way more in tips. read more

We went to Denny's yesterday morning. We frequent Denny's at different locations, but this location in MT. Vernon, was the worst service we have ever encountered. We placed our order, the waitress, younger person, gave us our bill before we even got our food. Stated she was going on her break. In my mind, I thought this should have waited to at least we gotten our food. Another person brings over part of our order, it was cold, and we didn't get the complete order, we waited patiently, after 10 minutes of servers and management walking by, we flag a person down to say we our missing a few things and the plates you brought us are cold. Our waitress returns to pick up our plates, sends back our order to the kitchen, (I am thinking you mentioned going to break). They bring the other part of the order we were missing out. It was Chaotic, the people behind us, beside us and in front of us, all having issue with their orders. When the order that was sent came back. It was all we could do to hold our breaths. My eggs that were to be over medium, came back with runny egg whites. My husband's meal not any better. They guy behind us says, if they keep up this service, they will go out of business. I understand people having off days, but this was beyond being off, the person acting like he was a manager was arguing, with the gentleman behind us as he complained about his hash browns being cold. Not a great experience for sure. As I read some of the reviews after the fact, I would think, they would step up the service or note the problem and try to fix it. read more

I don't even want to give it a star. Went in today and probably one of the grossest places I've been in a while. It smelled like wet musty rags and dirty garbage stacked up. The floor was very sticky and food everywhere! They sat is at a table that was super sticky like they never wiped it down. I never give bad reviews but when my kids can tell how dirty it is, it's needed. Good food but really poor maintenance. Don't recommend for anything. So first a 15 minute wait for 4 to be seated when there are empty tables. Then 35 minutes waiting for food and when we asked how much longer we were told another 20 minutes before they will get to our order to even start cooking it. My daughter and I often come here for their excellent chocolate chip pancakes and Philly omelette. One time my daughter and her friends ended up waiting for an hour for their food because of an employee passed out and needed an ambulance. He just made one of the best burgers I've ever had and what seemed to me like a perfect medium-rare steak. I ate here recently, and it was an ok experience. It was nothing to write home about, but it was satisfactory. Unfortunately, this means I am not hot to go back anytime soon. Some late night when nothing else is open, I may, but not until. I had a club sandwich with avocado. It was fair. My wife had a skillet that was ok. Service was fast even though there were several groups in the restaurant at that time, and our food came out rather quickly as well. the waitress kept my soda filled, and I really appreciated that. We had a big group of 20 military veterans call in the day before to see if the large group could be accommodated , at the time we were told yes that it could be figured out since they have a banquet room. Upon arrival the host or manager I am assuming, was extremely rude and proceeded to inform us that they were not wanting to open the banquet room. The person who had originally called told the manager that it had already been arranged over the phone, however the manager became extremely rude and disrespectful at which point words were exchanged. So thank you to dennys for turning a large group away as well as decreasing your sales and approximately $100+ in server tips. I just visited the Mount Vernon Denney"s for first time since their remodel. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Service was prompt, order taken and received quickly, coffee refilled often. The food was good but not great. I had breakfast, which I enjoyed, but the sausage seemed like it was steamed rather than grilled and the scrambled eggs were a little overdone. I go out to eat once in a while. Mostly because I want to do something nice for a someone special, but not often because quite frankly I don't have a surplus of extra money. But when we go out, we try out different restaurants just as a means of comparison. We had good experiences with Denny's locations south of Seattle and we had high hopes we would have that same sort of experience a bit further north. I trust that this was a one-time exception to the rule, but we were sadly disappointed. We were seated rather quickly, but that was about the best part of the visit. It took five minutes for our waiter to come over and introduce herself, at which point we asked for our beverages. It took quite a while for those to come out as well, and throughout the visit my bottomless coffee was only refilled once (at one point it was empty and we were unattended at all for 15 minutes). The creamer container they brought out kept leaking onto the table, I had to use my napkins to place under the container to keep things semi-clean. I brought it to the waitress' attention but sadly it was never addressed. When we ordered the wait was acceptable, a bit longer than usual but nothing that made us want to walk out or anything. It, again, was sad that we couldn't get our beverages refilled more than once in over a half hour, especially considering two gals were clearing and cleaning tables with no wait at the front door to be seated. Seems they could have taken one minute to help us out...bit maybe that is just me. The food came out and I was a little surprised. Now, I may not be a professional chef, but I do know my food and I know that normally the cheese goes inside an omelette to hold everything together. The cheese was not only on top, still in its square form, but was hardly melted. I looked under the top fold of the omelette to see if maybe they doubled up on cheese (which would be AMAZING) but not only found no cheese but I would approximate over 80% of the goodies that were supposed to be inside the omelette were outside and sitting on my plate under said top flap. The flavor of the omelette itself was pretty good, though the hash browns seemed to be chewier than they usually are. No crunch at all. When I checked out, the gentleman behind the register took my card, swiped and handed it back with a "Have a nice day" but had to call me back inside twice, the first time to sign the receipt and the second to hand me my copy. Was a little awkward but compared with the culmination of the prior events it was nothing bad at all. Overall I suppose I will be looking at reviews of not only this Denny's, but other locations in the area as well, hoping that this was an unfortunate one-time event. I have not to date been contacted by this store, nor have I been back since, but if in fact future visits are more favorable or if I am contacted by management this star rating is subject to change. For now, it is a 1-star experience for the presentation of the food and severe lack of attentiveness by the staff. read more

Do not go to this location if you have a large group. I called the day prior to our visit to this location to arrange seating for a group of 20 veterans and family members. We had used this location the year prior on the same day because the location has a banquet room. Because of our previous visit, we assumed that Denny's would be happy to host us again. The host/manager I spoke to on the phone told me that they would make it work for a large group but when we arrived the next morning, we were treated with disrespect. The host/manager tried to place us all over the restaurant at separate tables instead of trying to figure out how to keep us in a group. He wouldn't work with us at all. I asked why the banquet room was off limits and was told that "It screws up the restaurant." I told him that last year we used it and there was no issues but he wouldn't work with us. I also asked him why do they have a banquet room if they don't use it and he couldn't give me a straight answer. I said "F*** it, just take the tables he gives us" to one of the other people in the group and he kicked all of us out for the use of one vulgarity (It is a family restaurant and I know language like that shouldn't be used but I drove over an hour to meet up with all my family and friends and was frustrated). He gave up a 20 person bill and screwed over his wait staff out of a lot of tips because he obviously didn't want to do the work to accommodate a large group. So we took our business to IHOP where they were more busy than Denny's and still managed to host us and keep us together. read more
