I really want to like this Denny's, I love the view and the location. But every single time I've come here, the experience has been disappointing. The food takes at least three times longer than a typical Denny's, and there's almost always something wrong with the order. The wait staff and management is consistently rude and emotes irritation with your presence. Tonight 9:30ish was the last straw. I ordered a cheese omelette and a half order of nachos, which came out to about $25. When the food arrived, the omelette had little to no cheese. The same with the nachos. I promise I'm not being high maintenance. The omelette literally had a finger pinch of cheese and the nachos had a thin top layer sitting on top of empty nacho chips. I pointed it out to the waitress, and she told me she could add more--but would have to charge me extra. That was honestly unbelievable. She couldn't care less and would rather sit in a booth and stare at her phone. At that point, I lost my appetite and asked her to take it off the bill. No apology. No trying to make it better. As I write this review, my stomach is grumbling because I'm still hungry. These kind of issue happen consistently here. This is probably my fifth time. Because of previous issues, my family and I usually drive all the way down to the Roseville Denny's instead. It's always consistent, the service is decent, and the food is done right. I don't understand how the Auburn/Newcastle location can't get it together, especially considering how great the location is and how easy it is to access. The fact that we're willing to drive an extra 25 minutes just to avoid this place says everything. I gave it one last shot tonight..never again. That was the nail in the coffin. read more

I have not eaten at this location but decided today to order some food off of their website for a pickup. My brother and I ordered separately. He ordered waffles with berries and I ordered country fried steak, which was to also come with a side salad. He went and picked up the order and brought it back. When we opened up the bags, I was missing my side salad and they also forgot to include the mixed berries for his waffles. Two separate orders both missing items. Just wanna say, check your bag when you pick it up you're order,because obviously they are not. read more

I visited this restaurant for the first time last night and had a good dining experience. The location was fairly convenient off of I-80 in Newcastle, CA. Parking was adequate, I was greeted upon entering, they seated me quickly, my server was attentive, my food was delicious, the price was reasonable, the service was good, the dining room, my table and the restroom were clean, and the free internet worked well. read more

We like to stop at this Denny's every time we go to Reno. I have always had the same workers and same experience. The staff is quick and friendly. The place overall is clean, the bathrooms are a little gross but a lot of people stop through here to be fair. The food was delicious but pretty much a standard Denny's breakfast. The moment we walked in the door Carrie (I believe is the manager) put her hand up and said wait I'm taking an order. Anyways we were finally sat by someone else. Our server who was a gentleman I forgot his name was not rude but not nice either. Was very quick very blunt. Once we got our food my boyfriend noticed a hair in his pancakes. Carrie comes over and says "you don't like hair". Asks if we would like to remove the pancakes off our bill and we said yes. Not to mention as we were eating Carrie is yelling at an older gentleman trying to break a $20 bill at the register saying "what do you not understand I need you to wait I do not have $5 bills I have to grab some out of the safe". The whole time we were eating she was saying smart ass comments and talking shit about people the whole time. She is a very loud individual and we could hear everything she was saying. Hands down one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a restaurant which says a lot because I've worked in the service industry all my life and I'm an executive chef. We ate at the Newcastle location and really enjoyed the food. The only problem is that the waiter dropped my toast and promised to replace it, but he never returned. We asked for napkins twice and ended up going and get them ourselves. We were amazed how neglectful our waiter was. read more

Here is an honest review from a happy customer: I came with a child during holiday week. We ordered kids meal and two omelets. I had to say that I had never had more fresh meals at any Dennys. All of it: eggs, crispy light hash browns and even fruit - so fresh and tasty! While the food and the service from our server was quite excellent, it is the disappointing behavior of another employee here that brings my review down to 2 stars. Yelling and swearing at your customers as you pull out of the parking lot, for simply allowing their dogs to stretch their legs during a road trip, is unacceptable. How do you expect to run a successful business where people enjoy coming to dine with employees that act like this? Though you might be clocked out, you're in the parking lot and in your Denny's uniform, therefore you still represent the company you work for. If I could give this experience less I would. First I'll start out by saying I've been here only 2 times. Once was early on a weekday and we had an amazing breakfast food was hot and Rudy was attentive and friendly. And then there's time 2.. this experience will leave a bad taste in my mouth for Denny's (this location) for a long time. We had a unkempt unfriendly waitress who claimed she was the only one working the restaurant. Her clothes smelled of cigarettes and BO. She kept forgetting to grab my sister's side of hash browns while flirting with a gentleman for 20 minutes ,til we gave up on getting them entirely. At one point in our interaction while paying the bill she dropped what I swear was syringe on the ground while fumbling through her apron looking for a pen. I quickly gathered my family and we left. Pros: The view! Easily accessible from the freeway. Finally been remodeled. Carol, the sweetest waitress in the world! Cons: The management. With how many complaints the manager Rudy has had over the years it's surprising he's still there, high turnover = staffing issues, quality of service typically poor. Oh, Rudy likes to steal tips off of tables, so make sure you give your tip directly to your waitress or leave it on the card. Although I try not to leave tips on cards because servers get taxed on all their tips so whatever is on the card they will have to claim. Ate there with some friends and one of them chipped her tooth on some hashbrowns! She found a rock in the hashbrowns and when she showed it to Rudy it took a lot of convincing just to get a refund. Cheap food is the cornerstone of Denny's but now their meals are around the same price as an average breakfast, yet the quality has remained poor. Also, if your not there for breakfast or hangover food, what are you even doing there? For the love of god do NOT order steak, seafood, etc. and expect it do be good! It's Dennys. I recommend going to the drive through coffee shop right around the corner off Indian Hill. Get a nice coffee, and a breakfast bagel sandwich from there instead. The sell by dates on desserts are not accurate because the staff will redo them in order to not "waste" the desserts. This means moldy apple pie. The soda machine is not cleaned regularly. Mold in the soda dispenser. Temps on food are "checked" as in staff usually just copy random numbers down so that it's filled out. Guy at the register had a bad welcome, then when we asked to be moved 3 tables down to the end so we were not sitting next to others, he shook his head in disgust, muttered and had worse attitude. We were never lead to our table, when we got there we discussed if he was going to be doing our food, we were out of there. As we left, he said NOTHING. The best medium priced restaurant: Had another terrific meal at Denny's Newcastle, CA today. We go 2-3 times a month. One of their talented wait staff saw us coming in and had our tea and coffee all set for us when we walked through the door. And the weekend staff (3 Handsome Men, as I think of them - Carmello, Rudy and Antonio) is in that same league of excellence as Carol on weekdays when it comes to accuracy, speed, and friendliness. I made a reservation but when we arrived the manager acted like he was doing us a favor by making a table available. The manager was also our server and rushed us through ordering, but then there was such a delay with the food arriving that some people were already done with theirs before others even received their order. Denny's for me has always been a bolt hole, I would be down on my luck & desperately hoping for jovial encounters with papa Denny's, my vice.. Completely refuses to let me be unsatisfied from whence I appear, til I resign my patronage for the day. I, myself, a half decent customer who request an identical order each visit. For the first course, a plethora of gravy, I could shovel back 2 liters of it before quenching my thirst with a brimmer of mango lemonade. It's that delicious. After lubricating my whisper whip, I need jog towards the nearest bog. Denny's does not hesitate when in regards to lavatory amenities, a warming intermission before the main dish. My sextet stack of flapjacks coated thick by maple syrup & loving touch of Denny's finest chefs, bless them. Between each stack of flapjack rest a smoldering banger, seasoned to perfection. It's brilliant, a medium of culinary grandeur. I simply cannot restrain my self from wrapping my meat hooks around that sticky sweet blanketed sausage rod.
