Horrible location. Bad customer service and the food was overcooked. When they sat us they gave us just one menu. You have to request the 2,4,6,8 menu at this location. And when you do ask for it they glare at you and look at you like your stupid. Seriously uncomfortable. They took over 30 minutes to take our order and never checked on us the entire hour and a half we were stuck there. Took forever to get refills, and we could see the staff standing around talking in the back and not helping the whole 3 parties of people in the entire restaurant. After sitting at the table with our completely empty plates stacked for another 30-35 minutes they finally decide to stop playing around and give us our checks. Completely unprofessional, and lazy, lazy service. Better off at the Denny's in the carlsbad village or the one off of college blvd. stay away from this location. read more

TERRIBLE AWFUL HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!! DONT GO THERE!!!!! I left that place 2 different times already. They're not even busy just lazy to even seat my family & I. It took 22 mins to just get WATER!!!! It took another 50 mins to get our lousy BURNT pancakes!!!! Ahhhh I'm sooooo MAD UPSET!!!!!! The server was very all over the place. Not too busy so I could understand if it was but we had to ask three time for creamers for our coffee and still wasn't brought over to us we had to go find our own from another table. We repeatedly asked for napkins we didn't get silverware for our meals. One of our orders was the zesty Nachos and only came with meat and sour cream. Another order was suppose to be sunny side up eggs they brought over a plate with scrambled egg whites. We never receive any more coffee either. After speaking to the manager our bill was originally 65.98 and was only reduce to 55.98 we only received a 15% discount. Never again will we be visiting this Dennys. read more

Server was way more worried about cleaning tables then seating and serving guest. There was two people seated and two dirty tables. He took his time cleaning the tables then after 15 minutes sat myself and a separate man. Seating us and getting our order in should have been priority, not cleaning off the two tables when you have 50 others. He was also very rude and complained that people were coming in. read more

Came here with my family and all I have to say is HORRIBLE service. We waited 10 minutes for our server (Barbara) to greet us and take our drink orders. I saw her sitting down at another table trying to take an order. Sorry, but I'm in the restaurant industry and that is NOT professional. Our food took more than 30 minutes. We were missing a silverware set and when I told her, she was being sarcastic (not professional). She got my brother's order wrong. She checked on us once and that was when we were almost done. I used to enjoy this location years ago, before it was franchised. I my family and I visited this location on Sunday afternoon March 24, 2013. We all had skipped lunch it was 3:30 or so when we arrived. It was very lonely I saw 2 waiters and a maneger and a few people. They sat us in the far back area were the sun don't shine and gave us menues. It took them 10 minutes for any waiters or even the manager to acknowledge that we were even there. The manager, was hanging out talking to some young girls, while the waiters were just hanging out looking over to our table and whippering to each other. After 10 minutes of waiting, a waiter came over (jose) I think was his name. He took our order for drinks and food, waited another 10 minutes and still no drinks. We keep seeing the waiter, walk back in forth to other tables. I got to speak to the manager and explained the situation, finally I see the waiter walking to the back to start the drinks, he hadn't even put our order in. We left with our kid crying cause they were hungy.. it was a very bad experience...I will never go back and dont recommend it to anyone especially if your a Veteran and have children.. We went to another location right off Vista Way, I talked to a manager there and explined our recent experience at the El Camino location. Sucky food, sucky attitude. Waited forever for service. Kept getting ignored. They suck.

The waitress was very nice and I told her it was my birthday plus I had my 4 year old son with me (kids eat free) she said I would go with the birthday special and I said of course I will go with an adult free meal vs a kids..i said jokingly ill get the lobster and steak.. I ordered steak and shrimp...the bill comes and its on there my $18 steak and shrimp..so the manager comes over and says we don't give a free meal for birthdays here...you would have got the build your own grand slam meal for free...long story short she refused to honor what the waitress told me in the beginning to be true and at the end of the day took off $7.00.....needless to say that plus below average service plus not honoring what their employees say will make me never go back to dennys! So it is Wednesday here in Oceanside and if you want to save yourself the WORST experience of your life, DO NOT go to the Denny's here. Go to the one on Harbor Dr or the one on College Blvd. I have NEVER seen this type of behavior ANYWHERE. First of all, my food came out late and disgusting. But, hey that can happen anywhere right? You'd expect management to care. However, please beware of a heavy set lady with blonde hair named Randy. Do you know what she said when she came to my table? Neither do I because she had the worst SMUG SARCASTIC SMILE ON HER FACE THE ENTIRE TIME. She was absolutely rude. The poor server told me that they were thinking of quitting because she treats everybody this bad. What's worse is that it wasn't the servers fault that the food came out so terrible but they all seem to be walking on egg shells here that it shows in their service. Do you know what she told me? I asked for her boss and she told me she refused to tell me who he was and that all he cares about are numbers anyway and not customer service. I couldn't believe my ears. I will find out who the owner is though! Her employees seem scared to even be around her! I'm sorry but this lady feels like the DENNY'S HITLER. My wife and I go there every week for breakfast. The service is great, the food is great, It's clean. I can't say enough about the place. The coffee is biter but that might be the type of coffee they buy. I highly recommend this Denny's. read more

It depends which Denny's you go to but I can't think of one yet that offered bad customer service. I am submitting this review in hopes it can be part of the cash back program. I enjoy coming to this location because it is quiet. You are greeted at the door and the customer service is excellent. Every time I have come to this location I have always received a friendly waitress. When I arrived, Claudia saw I was carrying some work with me and scanned for a booth for me with an outlet to charge my phone in. I didn't even ask, and I really appreciated her trying to find an accommodating place for me to sit. The lady tonight who helped me was Kristy. I highly recommend her if you come to this location. I was embarrassed but I'd explained I was maintaining a tight budget but wanted to see how I could get a fulfilling meal under 12.00. She was patient and helped me with several options that gave me the opportunity to choose my food desire without fear of going over 12.00. She went as far as providing a receipt to show me what the price after taxes would be. She was very kind, professional and went out of her way to provide excellent customer service as well as Claudia. Overall the restaurant is clean, food is fresh and delicious. Great place to go on Saturday night if you need to study, research, etc. Also a quiet place for couples. Pretty annoyed at my Dennys experience today. My step dad and I come to this location every time we have lunch together it's kind of become a tradition, I felt our server crossed a few lines , for instance my husband had his arm up on the back of the booth and she decided to sit next to him and lean in so close that she was almost laying on his chest talking about how tired she was, later she was refilling drinks and leaned across the table to grab mine but waited until my husband noticed her standing there (he was sitting on the open end of the booth) and then asked him to put down his food to hand her his water that she wanted to refill... she also didn't listen, we were deciding on dessert (today's lunch was for my birthday) I said we were thinking of a banana split and an apple cobbler to share but I hadn't decided yet so to give us a few minutes and the next time we saw her she was coming back with the dessert I hadn't even ordered, needless to say I didn't order anything else, when I said I didn't think we had said we decided yet she pointed to my step dad and husband and said "well they did, you just took too much time" I'm a little shocked right now to be honest and I think we will be doing our Dennys lunches at a different location, especially if Barbara M is going to be serving here. I wouldn't normally leave a review like this but it was so frustrating being talked to and treated like that I had to say something. I've really only come here for pure convenience. I've been here late at night when there were only 2 other tables and had to wait a good amount of time for my drinks, food, etc. I figured "Only one server, maybe it was just an off night". I recently came during the evening and had an even worse experience. Stood at the entrance with one person in front of me for 10 minutes while the owner/manager seemed confused on where to seat people. Finally after getting sat by the manager, he asked what we wanted to drink, my girlfriend ordered water, and before I could say anything, he walked away and came back with two waters. I nicely asked for a coke and he sighs like we were hassling him...He brought back our coke and said our server would be right with us. We waited for 15 minutes while tables around us were sat and ordered while no one came to our table. I even made clear eye contact with the manager who saw us sitting there waiting to order and he just went on about standing at the front counter. Ended up walking out and not getting asked a question by the manager. Crappy management makes for a crappy restaurant. I suggest driving two exits down the five to the Denny's Carlsbad Village. read more
