So It is Xmas 2024, me and my mom need a vacation. It is almost becoming a tradition now that me and her doing road trips together at least one a year. We are back to Pismo Beach. Our experience from last year was great, so here we are. This time, we decided to go easy on the food. We picked Denny's as our main dining option. We know the menu quite well and the pricing is fine. We had dinner for 2 nights here and had good experience for both times. Our waiter, Bryan, was quick, friendly and attentive. Our food was good. Dining area are well kept. I like it here at bit better because it has some old school feel. All the newly built Denny's in our area doesnt offer the same feeling. Overall, it is a 5 stars from me.

It's Denny's! Not "The Meltdown"!!! I'm out of town, 10pm, decide to DoorDash, find some good looking food, order online through DoorDash. It doesn't give me options to add ketchup and ranch, so I click on pick it up. Click on the app map and off I go. Here's the big problem. I'm looking for a restaurant called "The Meltdown" that's who I ordered from, that's who I paid online. I followed the map 2 miles down the road and I end up at Denny's. I think the map Must be wrong. Denny's is definitely Denny's not a place called The Meltdown". I stop at the gas station next door, ask the guy if he knows of "The Meltdown" he says it's probably further down the road where the nice restaurants are. I drive over there, looking around, not here either. Long story short, I go back to Denny's and ask if they have heard of a place called The Meltdown. She says sure that's us, we also go by ??? Burrito and The Burger Den and some other place. WTF??????? Why???????? Now I'm 20 min late to pick up my cold food that's supposed to be hot and I'm pissed off! AYFKM???? The food was of course terrible! The ambiance is disturbing. Looked like it hasn't been cleaned in years. Crack heads outside with vicious pit bulls and no leashes. It's a mess. Don't go to this place. Look at my food pics. How about that mess, all cold for $28. Gross. Greg's going to love this review.

My earlier comment was removed. I have since downgraded my opinion of this location. The General manager, Beatrice, and her wait staff are horrible. Listening to them disparage customers by talking about them behind their back within hearing distance of me and other customers is so unprofessional. I couldn't get their attention for more coffee whilst they chatted away behind the counter. The night manager, however, is very nice and professional. It seems the only customers who keep this location going are the take-out or delivery orders. The chefs are also not to blame for this downgrade. I might add that a lot of cops patrol their parking lot and I suspect there could be drug deals taking place outside which isn't safe. Hope my review doesn't get removed again.

Hello Dennys, my first visit to this location. It's 5am, I'm waiting for a ride at 7, I have my sunglasses on and it's dark out. So WoW, Dennys has a "new" bacon, it's like real bacon. Not the pre cooked, paper thin, prefab strips of the past. Yea! So I have a long ride today and I'm goin' for the breakfast this morning. Denver Omelet, no hashers fruit. The fruit was fresh seasonal and plentiful. The bacon side order made it on the check too. This really was an exceptional breakfast something the foodguy would never say about Denny's but hey thats where the credit was due today. Not sure if it's my lucky day but it's certainly off to a very good start. Maybe we'll see you here on morning. Foodguy-Martin

Danielle the waitress at night is AMAZING !! she goes above and beyond and always delivers our meals proper quickly and wiithout any mistakes her smile is infectious and when I have had a bad day I know that she will be there to take my order and turn my frown upside down!!! I highly recommend this Denny's not so much for their food or that they are the ONLY THING OPEN 24 hrs around the five cities you can always count on if this girl is working one heap of if an incredible individual thanks again for making our out to eat dining experiences amazing!!! read more

My super slam was awesome. My son ordered the kids meal burger. The burger was a little sloppy and didn't taste very good. The fries were on point! Usually Denny's is a 5 star experience but I would still come back for the food and service. read more

I like Dennys for their breakfasts. Huge selection and options for breakfast. They are right off of the highway and they have parking as well. Decent amount of seating with some counter seating as well. I waited for a few minutes on a Sunday noon time so that wasn't bad at all. My waitress was very nice and polite and cheerful. Took my drink order right away and when she came back she took my breakfast order right away. I love Denny's breakfast. I had the Grand Slam which was two scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes and some pancakes as well. Also an orange juice and coffee. Food came out quickly and after she checked in when i was finished, my waitress just dropped the check, which you pay at the front counter. read more

I'm not usually one to write Yelp reviews, but this place truly deserves one. Me and my friend came in at around 11pm after the bar and received some of the best service I've ever had. My waitress (Danielle I believe) had incredible patience, and provided absolutely incredible service. Checking up routinely and with a great attitude. Additionally, the food was fresh and delicious. Best Denny's experiences I've ever had. Truly impressed! read more

Not too overpriced for any means, and a great place to stop anytime (including late night). Quality isn't always there, but they do bring quantities. That being said, it was not clean. There was bacon in crevices as well as other crumbs in other nooks. read more

Idk what happened to Denny's but it's not as good as it use to be and the servers are sad and slow and don't seem to care for anyone. My food was cold when I got it and I noticed everyone was unhappy and rude all around me. When asked how everything was while paying the MANAGER at the front desk, I said " it was okay I guess " and she didn't seem to care that I wasnt happy at all. Won't be back for a while, get your shit together, no one wants to dine in with rude employees, especially a rude manager. Just saying. -disappointed customer read more

Terrible place to eat at. To start off the coffee mug had a lipstick stain from not being washed right and then my bread was COLD. The cherry on top was my soda tasted like soap. after asking to exchange it for another soda it still tasted like SOAP. Denny's do better. read more

My mom and I ordered some food from Denny's and was really disappointed. I ordered a crepe and some birthday pancakes for my brother and the crepe was really sad. It was just folded up very sloppy with random cream. The strawberries were everywhere in the bowl. Also, the only crepe option was the fruit one but the only fruit in there is strawberries. And about the pancakes, they were really burnt on the bottom and disgusting. My mom ordered some sourdough toast and was really disappointed. The coffee also sucks. It stinks and isn't filled to the top. I have a picture of the toast. read more

Customer service was quick , the guy that tended to us was polite but very small talk and never came to see if we needed refills instead of checking on our drinks he just brought our tab The food is decent. What you expect of Denny's. Will I come back prob not. read more

Stopped in for lunch, was seated quickly by an employee who had just walked in the door to start her shift, she was very polite. We then had a very bland rude waitress names Samantha H come to take our orders she then returned about 20 minutes later ... with our waters. Then proceeded to clean tables around us being exceptionally loud throwing the chairs to the side (mind you we had 2 babies with us getting startled by the loud noises). She then came over dropped our check said she was going on her break and someone else would help us. Why would she bring us our check when we hadn't gotten our food yet? What if we still were going to order dessert or something else ? Food was as expected okay and at least edible. Wouldn't return to this location read more

After a brisk morning jog at the beach, I headed over for a snack. I decided on the chorizo burger, a new menu item. By far the best burger I've had @ Denny's! The place was remodeled and very clean and I was seated very promptly. My server, Karen, was by far the best server I've had at any Denny's I've ever been to! She really knows how to connect with the costumer and make them feel warm. I could see her interactions with other customers and it was genuine and that's what makes customers loyal. Overall great experience & thank u manny as well! He was amazing also! read more

I think I'm being fair with this 2 star rating. Facts for weary travelers stopping at this location for a quick bite... 1. Dry service (not rude, not friendly either) 2. Dry toast (not much butter and no jam or jelly included. Guess you have to ask for it) 3. Dry food ( scramble eggs hard and over cooked, bacon paper thin taste is meh, sausage has a weird taste). 4. Clean restaurant. 5. Located right off freeway exit (convenient) 6. Plenty of parking 7. Close to hotels/motels 8. Dessert is not bad if you like apple crumble with vanilla ice cream. * this cost me $17 as a take out meal. Ate less than half, so money wasted. Eggs sitting on my stomach like dead weight. These are just facts and I was disappointed because Denny's has a basic formula that you can rely on in most cases no matter where you go. But if you eat in and/or order something different it might be better. read more

Staff was all nice BESIDES THE MANAGER. Very hostile woman. After we were seated, she came over and asked if our whole party had arrived as we were at a table for six. She wasn't wearing a badge or uniform so I originally didn't even realize that she worked there and thought she was a random lady. I said no and that we were waiting for three more people. She asked if we had told the wait staff that as we weren't supposed to be seated until the full party had arrived. (Made up rule if you ask me. Even so, they weren't that busy.) I told her that yes we had made them aware that it was a party of six. She then responded that they were "naughty naughty kids" for seating us early. Very creepy way of saying that... My dad then told her that if it was such a problem we would be happy to leave since she is making it a big deal and also somehow making it our problem. She then backed down and said it was fine. Later, we saw her pocket the tips from a table next to us, obviously, with no intention to share it with the actual waitstaff that worked the table. She checked both ways to make sure that nobody was watching her but didn't account for us being behind her. Whoever her boss is, please review customer service skills with her. read more

Walked in for a late night dessert. Was not even acknowledged at the main desk so we decided to try sitting at the bar. All staff seemed to be more interested in side conversations and playing pranks on each other. Absolutely no urgency in asking us for our order. A girl did acknowledge us and tell us someone would be with us, but it took quite a bit of time. Noticed the food bar with many plates of food waiting to be served sitting for several minutes. Waitress with a serving tray full of drinks standing and talking to a co-worker instead of serving. Finally a really pleasant waters took our order and made our desserts quite quickly. For that, I am increasing from 1 star to 2 stars. read more

Review is for morning of 10/10/15. Horrifically slow service, and when food arrived, my food was cold. So after waiting over 30 minutes for my food, you bring my dish cold? Oh and thanks for skimping on the hash browns. Meanwhile my coffee was cold and lacking a refill. You weren't even busy. Returned food was hotter but seemed almost microwaved with a warm, reasonable amount of hash browns. Girlfriends food was alright, was warm at best. Get up to pay, and people are everywhere, no organized line or anything. Finally get to the cashier who asks how our meal was, we state it was pretty terrible, then he shrugs and asks us if we would like to leave a tip. The customer service here was just top notch *eye roll* Needless to say, we left, and thankfully, will never be coming back. read more

Do not eat here. The staff is rude as any I've ever seen in my life, (48 years old). They told us a table would be 10 to 15 min. After 20 min the table came available. The Manager told an employee, right in front of us, not to seat us because there was no 2 person tables period. I told them that was unacceptable and should have been explained to us from the beginning. The Manager rolled her eyes and proceeded to seat the party of 7 that just walked into the door. I will Never go there again, and will continue to tell everyone not to go there . read more

The inconsistencies of Denny's nationwide in addition to just the store itself always is a mind boggler for me.. today was a good day.... I wanted something decent and not fast food or pizza... Ken was friendly and got me everything I needed (which was a Western Burger with onion strings to go) with a smile and speedy service. The food came out relatively quickly. What I did notice was no matter the age of the group, everyone was treated with respect and not put in the back of the restaurant or what have you... a group of teens were greeted warmly and immediately seated... same went for some elderly couples who came in... I was asked if I was sure there wasn't anything else (ranch etc) that I needed with my to go order... The burger itself was not dry or gross... the onion fries were not greasy.... good Denny's experience. People in Pismo are nice find #3 read more

I was heading farther north but saw Dennys neat the freeway and some near by gas stations so I decided to stop. Went in at 11 am and left at 11:20 am without eating. Sat for 15 minutes never took my order or even acknowledged I was sitting there. Over heard the waitress said she had been sent home. But no one picked up her station. Now I'm sitting at IHOP 10 miles away. Seated and ordered within 5 minutes. Will skip that Denny's in the future. read more

Dennys is very underrated for how good it is. I recommend this business very well. Kids menu has lots of choices and specials with like 22 sides to choose from. And that's just the kids menu. Great service and very quick waiters and waitresses. Fully recommended read more

Ok...it's Denny's, but why five stars. So many restaurants are over the top pretentious or are dives trying to be cool, and often miss the mark. My wife's Birthday was today and I invited four other couples to join us for breakfast. The waiter Joshua was incredible. Everything was served quickly, hot, and correctly. None of who gets this kind of stuff! The food was exactly as it was described and pictured. Gotta love restaurant menus with pictures. The food was tasty too. The place was crowded as the morning progressed but the service never slacked off. I complemented the manage personally. Too often folks only criticize, so the positive feedback was appropriate. read more

I don't know why this Denny's has a low rating. The food is consistently good, it is Denny's chain food of course, but the cooks almost always get the orders correct. It is one of the only 24/7 diners in the whole area so I appreciate it being here. They have great deals on food for the kiddos through out the week, and they have great customer service. The place is always clean, and the servers are always really sweet. I can't say I've had a bad experience here in 2 years of being up here! Love this Dennys! read more

5/4/19 12:00pm Being a server myself, I criticize hard. Not once have I ever gave a manager complements on my ENTIRE visit. Host (honestly I just forgot his name), server, Kenneth, and the kitchen staff (BOH) were amazing, super fast, very friendly, with all good vibes. I absolutely recommend these people get the proper recognition for their amazing work. Even the food happened to be more better than every other Denny's we have been to. Great job guys. Note that the parking lot, depending on which day you go, can fill up very quickly. The location is right off of the 101 and easy to find. We checked in and was seated within 10 minutes at a booth that overlooked the beautiful views of the Pismo Beach coast line. Our server, a younger black woman, who told us her nickname was 'TiTi', if I'm not mistaken, was wonderful. Her personality and hospitality was infectious and exceeded 5 stars. She brought us fresh hot corn and flour tortillas with a small cup of brown sugar butter and three different salsas to try. Everything was delicious. We ordered the surf and turf special which was a jumbo shrimp on top of a filet mignon that rested on mash potatoes and a creamy/savory white sauce. We also ordered the lobster Mac and cheese. Everything was exceptionally good. My only takeaway would be that I found the food, especially the lobster Mac and cheese to be pretty salty. Definitely excited for my next visit.

Catch of the day was sea bass with a few veggies and rice. Definitely not special. The flourless chocolate cake was dry. Overall a very underwhelming dinner. So sad. Probably not going back.

I heard the other Waiters as they served the clients. They were very friendly, professional and served the customers with a smile. The location is on a busy street so as you dine and you look out the window you get to see all the people driving and walking by. It's great if you love to people watch. Some of the plates coming out looked AMAZING. We had the Crab Dip, House Salad, Crab Louis Salad and Clam Chowder. Everything was delicious and satisfying. We even took home a slice of Key Lime Pie. We'll be going back again.

The cioppino might be the best I've had in recent memory, if not the best. The seafood was fresh (probably sourced from the ocean in central coast). The flavors were on point. Everything was amazing! There were 2 gigantic scallops in there, I don't think I've had scallops that massive! The clam chowder was also delicious. My husband enjoyed the fresh shrimp on his salad. Overall, we were very happy with the meal and would totally be back! Another plus, service was super friendly and attentive. 10/10!

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Eric at the door -- and it's always nice when the first person you see makes you feel welcome. He walked us to our table, chatted with us, and even remembered us from 7 months ago, including where we sat! It seems like remembering guests is a theme in this town, and we love that hometown feeling. This visit, I made sure to take photos of the food, and we also left with a bag full of their homemade salsa and hot sauce. I only wish they sold these at grocery stores back home in Los Angeles because we would definitely buy them! Thankfully they ship!!! Melissa was our server and was wonderful -- friendly, attentive, and very accommodating with my husband's dairy allergy. My husband ordered the vegetarian burrito, and wow... it was packed with fresh green veggies you could literally see through the tortilla - my see photos! I also liked their selection of mocktails; the pink pony club was a particular standout. We decided to sit in the patio area since it was nice day, even though there was a little bit of construction noise next door, it didn't take away from hearing the great music selection. Moments later a server brought out the food, everything smelled and looked delicious. He ordered fish N' chips w/upgraded garlic fries, (we love garlic fries!) some of the best garlic fries we've had, every bite was garlicky & dipped in ranch...mmmmm perfect combo. The fish was tender but crispy bites from the batter. I ordered the Pismo wrap (could be shared), I was not expecting it to be so packed with all the fillings. It was stuffed with sliced tri-tip, curly fries, avocado, pepper jack cheese, and bbq sauce. Every bite was so satisfying, flavorful and had a little bit of everything. Some saltiness from the fries to sweetness from the bbq sauce, well balanced (I did add some cholula sauce because I enjoy some spiciness). Definitely added as a stop when doing a day trip to Pismo. I'll be recommending friends/family to make a stop at Hoagies if they're ever in the area and they're looking for a chomp because a bite isn't enough. So after all the shopping/walking, pick up some Hoagies and head to the beach (which is walking distance), because great food deserves a great view!

But it did come with lettuce, not cabbage (?). Hmm. The fish was okay, but not fried to enough of a crisp, so it was not crunchy. It was also a relatively small amount of cod in the the burrito wrap. I say burrito wrap as the tortilla was pretty thick and barely toasted. I did see other patrons sitting at the tables with much toastier-looking wraps, and it looked like the steak wrap came in a wheat tortilla. So is there more than one kind of tortilla? The tartar sauce was middle of the road and there was not enough of it in the wrap for my tastes - I like sauce. But I could not get more for the side, as the line was out the door by the time I discovered I could use more tartar sauce! So while it was fine, and the fish seemed fresh, I was somewhat disappointed, and did not munch this wrap with the zeal that I do the one from the other locale in town where I typically buy the killer cod wrap. The curly fries were good and well salted. Lots of people sitting outside; tables could've been cleaned better. Maybe staff should come out and wipe them down periodically.

It has orange blossom honey which adds the perfect amount of sweetness to it, and you can never go wrong with almond granola (it's my favorite). My husband got their Portuguese burrito, which he really enjoyed. We also ordered a white mocha and caramel latte, both of which had great flavor! Overall we had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back on our next trip to Pismo.

In the meantime, another couple walked up requesting a table, instead of being instructed to return, they stood there and waited persistently to be seated. As I noticed a table clearing, I walked up to check with the hostess to ensure we would be getting that table. The other couple took that as their cue to insists that they get the table that was being cleared. Instead of seating us, the hostess gave the excuse that there was no reservations and no naming for tables, and instead gave the now open table to the extremely pushy couple demanding a table they were 2nd in line for. Had we not been adamantly instructed to wait and check in again in a couple minutes coupled with the fact that we were literally sitting at a table within view AND normal talking distance for her to say "we are ready", she caved in to the rude couple's persistence in being given that table. Catering to customers like that surely isn't the best choice and had others, like us, walk away. We did speak with the supervisor on shift. He did his best to make things right, but at this point the entire situation left us little appetite to dine here.

The staff made us feel right at home, which is why our "one drink" turned into a four-hour stay. It's cozy, upscale but down-to-earth, and easily one of my new favorite spots in Pismo.

Warning to anyone with special needs or to anyone who gets sick while dining at this place!!! I wish there was an option to leave zero stars. Leaving this one star feels way too generous. This place treats its special needs diners with complete disrespect. They have zero hospitality, compassion, or respect. And when diners get sick at this place, they are treated like lepers!! After eating their chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and zucchini, a young lady (who has Autism and is also blind) got very ill and threw up. She was in obvious distress and discomfort and needed (and DESERVED) some kindness, help, respect, and compassion. What did she (and her sister and sister's fiance who were dining with her) receive instead??? Not only rude stares from every single person in the establishment, but their server (a hispanic lady with a shamrock tattoo) started yelling at the young lady who got sick in Spanish, talking about her weight and saying other things that were VERY inappropriate and hurtful. This server with the shamrock tattoo should immediately be fired. And this whole establishment needs a lesson in hospitality and how to take care of customers who get sick. PAYING customers shouldn't get treated with this kind of blatant rudeness and cruelty. They should be given the appropriate items needed to help (in this situation, towels, wash cloths, lysol wipes, etc). While cleaning up the mess and trying to comfort their sick sister, these customers were stared at, yelled at, and completely insulted. And special needs customers should receive nothing but the utmost respect and compassion and help!!! This poor family needed a helping hand (or two), some warm smiles, kind words, and some sympathy!! Instead, they were left to deal with everything on their own while getting yelled at, insulted, and stared at!! This restaurant and the way they handled things (or DIDN'T handle things, I should say) made this situation even more distressing and overwhelming for the diner with special needs. She was already sick, scared, and overwhelmed, and this place exacerbated that! Way to go, Denny's! Way to treat this beautiful young woman!!! You should all be ashamed!!!! I wouldn't recommend this diner to anyone!!!! Nobody deserves to be treated like this! I will be reporting this location (and that waitress). I will also be reporting this place to the Better Business Bureau. Get new management, take some hospitality courses, learn how to treat human beings decently, and definitely fire the shamrock-tattoo server!! If any of that was repetitive, it's because I'm so angry, my writing skills have flown out the window! The point is: don't go to this place!! Shame on them!!!! read more

My husband being a 25 year active duty Veteran was treated very rude. Your staff needs educated about the mental health issues associated with Active Duty Veterans, known as PTSD. There are Veterans out there that feel uncomfortable in a crowded setting so if you are going to show respect for the service of Veterans than do so for all of them allowing them to have their meal served as a take out meal if needed!!!!! read more

Employees like Hayden go above and beyond with friendly, fast service, and Manager Marissa makes sure everything runs perfectly with a warm, welcoming vibe. Worst service ever. We ordered chips & salsa to start with waited for 10 minutes with no one in sight. 20 minutes later we got our food by a fifteen server we asked about the chips she said she will find out what happened and never heard back from any one.
