What a joke. We ordered take out because nobody including the employees were wearing masks. Is this some kind of Utah macho thing? I should have taken a photo of the pathetic scrambled eggs, bacon and hash browns but I was in shock. The milkshake was not a milkshake it was chocolate milk and the waitress told me she didn't want to make another one. The chocolate milk was followed by a cold cheese burger. What a pleasures! The first time we were able to walk in, sit down, look at a menu and order food...in a restaurant, for weeks. Cheri met us as we walked in, greeted us with a big smile (of course behind a mask, but the eyes showed it plainly), took our order and delivered wonderful breakfasts. There were 10 of us and not one person ever needed to ask for a thing. She was bring coffee non-stop, creamers laughing with us and even took the time to honor a friend with Happy Birthday. Miss Cheri greeted us with enthusiasm and old fashioned welcoming hospitality seating us right away and introducing us to Heather as if she's a member of the family both eager to serve us. Explaining to us the excitement of being in stage "code green" and what that means for Denny's policies for customer protections. It's so obvious these employees are getting constantly trained and y taking their training seriously in regards to protecting us and following all the policies to the letter. No complaining no short cuts. As a retired Health and Safety Officer and Infectious Control Nurse I was so impressed and reassured that I was safe dining here. I just loved Our server, Heather. She was like a mind reader, anticipating everything we needed, even heated up my syrup special for me. The cooks are rarely recognized but the meals perfectly prepared and presented. Not bad for a Denny's... new, clean store and within walking distance to main hotels (although, there isn't much around here anyways). There were several RV's in the parking lot and large families finishing up their summer travels. I took too long to decide what to get (as we were also traveling and I wanted something small so as to not carry around leftovers with me), but the waiter was very patient and kept checking in with us. My dad got the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and sauteed squash. It looked delicious. I got the chicken fingers off the appetizer menu. I was surprised when it came with fries (despite what it said about coming with celery sticks), but no complaints there. I was a little disappointed that I hadn't chosen something else and left behind a chicken finger or two. The lettuce on the salad was not very fresh and overall it wasn't very tasty and the burger was massacred - hard, dry and flavorless. I'm not normally a Denny's "fan", but the Denny's at Salina, Utah was a pleasant surprise. My wife and I enjoyed the Philly cheesesteak omelette with avocado. The omelette was stuffed with tender beef, the eggs were fluffy, and the veggies were cooked to perfection. Our server, Joey, was very attentive to our needs, and Tyson helped out as well. I've been back 4-5 times in the past few years (since my last review), and now I just avoid them at all costs. They have some good waitstaff, but there are some that leave me baffled on how they can keep their job. I am always polite and respectful. At least I try very very hard to be. Having done their line of work before is why. It's not easy. But to be treated as poorly as I have been? No. Right now 1 star is a compliment. I'd rather go hit up Carl's Jr. (across the highway from Denny's) or Arby's (just 1/4 mile up the highway from Denny's). Damn. This Denny's was doing great for a while there. Then they get these kids in there that try pulling some of that "#metoo" bullshit. And to this day I have NEVER in my 49 years of living EVER "made advances" on ANY waitress ANYWHERE on God's Green Earth, and certainly not at Denny's! I was very impressed with the service I received from our server Tyson. He was very hospitable, efficient and aimed to make sure that I had everything I needed. He even offered to have some ice water to go knowing that I had a long trip ahead. His service rates Five Stars. I don't expect fine dining at Denny's, but I enjoyed my chicken, bacon sandwich. The meat was thin so I would give four instead of five stars. The seasoned fries, recommended by Tyson, were excellent as promised. I haven't been a big fan of hot chocolate since I was a child. However, with -10 degree weather and driving 2 hours through blizzard like conditions, the hot chocolate from this Denny's has driven me to drinking hot chocolate at least once a week since my visit. Sharon, the waitress was very polite and even shared a laugh about the coldness outside and this Californian wearing flip-flop sandals.
