This might be one of my most controversial food opinions, but Denny's absolutely hits after midnight. I've been here multiple times between 12 and 1 a.m., and every single time the food has been phenomenal. Maybe it's because I'm a little tipsy when I show up, but whatever they're doing during those late-night hours is working. Ironically, when I've come in for breakfast during normal hours, it hasn't been quite as impressive. Still good, just not the same magic as those late-night visits. One thing that's been consistent no matter when I come in is the service. I've never had a bad experience with the staff. Friendly, attentive, and always welcoming. If you're looking for a late-night meal, this Denny's might surprise you. Some of my favorite Denny's meals have come from this location well after midnight. read more

This is a nice solid Denny's! This has become my mom's breakfast spot., and she took me & my partner here to share it. She gets the senior special omelette, and omg we're now old enough to get senior specials too! So we did, and they were good! This place is spotless, IDK if it was recently-ish renovated but the booths are comfy, the lighting is warm. and it feels like a good place. Teresa was our server, she was sweet in the Denny's kinda way. She knew to bring my mom a to-go tin for the 1/2 omelette she's saving for later. and she landed a joke about about my mom being a big tipper just as I raised my pen to sign the receipt, perfect comedic timing. read more

Last time here was not great but hope for better. Again met a client here for a late breakfast. I had the country fried steak and eggs which were really good. The country fried steak had the perfect exterior crunch and the meat inside was exactly how you want...fork tender and the hash browns were spot on. Staff: Espe was our server and was nice. The rest of the staff was okay. The one thing that was a disappointment was we had to ask for refills. I prefer anticipating our needs as customers on refills for truly good service. Quality/Quantity: The restaurant is a bit older but clean. It is a little smaller than other locations. We ordered the steak, burger, moons over Miami, nachos, and potato soup. The food was pretty good and what you'd expect from Denny's. Value: Not too bad at around $105 without tip for 5 adults and 2 kids in our party. Overall: This location is special to me as I ate her my first time visiting San Clemente many many years ago as a kid. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped by on our way down to San Diego on a Friday night. It was open at 10pm when grabbed some food and was easily accessed off the 405. Ordered an omelet and a pancake combo, and both things came out quickly. Plenty of parking was available. Credit cards accepted. The server who helped us was nice but asked some questions around my ethnicity, which was a bit off-putting, but I guess sometimes you deal with weird stuff the later it gets at night. My husband and our kids came to meet with my mom on Mother's day, 2026. My mom got there about 20 minutes before we did, at 2:00 pm Sunday. Lima sat my mom and daughter, by the bathroom, my mom didn't want to sit there because of the smell. Finally when we got there I asked Lima the woman working there with the curly red hair if we can all sit in the round booth that was empty, she yelled and said no, you have to sit where I tell you to sit. The manager overheard the conversation and said we can sit there no problem. Lima shouted and said no you can't. She sat us in the tables in the middle, my mom asked her if she can help put the tables together since there where 6 of us, she rolled her eyes, and slammed the tables. My mom asked her why she had an attitude. Lima went to another family and started talking bad about my mom, and told them that my mom was a bitch. We all got up and left and went to Dennys Dana point. Shame on Lima, shame on this restaurant, shame on management not addressing this major issue. Undetectable behavior. read more

Convenient location if you are on a road trip. Unfortunately they have a sign that says they don't accept app or online coupons. This is an older style location so it's a bit dated but, maintains a cozy yet lively atmosphere and the large booths are nice. Service was friendly and helpful despite being busy. Food is alright and you get a large portion size. Food quality isn't as good as other breakfast places but it's good enough. It's a step up from typical fast food breakfast options. read more

The waitress didn't clearly understand. We had to send it back. When the got the food right it was good. They never came back to refill our drinks. Then they over charged us on our receipt. Been here on two occasions. 15 years ago after returning from a Mexican Riviera Cruise and last night after watching an AEW Pay Per View in LA. Both times were awesome! Eight off the freeway with ample parking and excellent service. Food is made to order and priced just right. I enjoyed my late night breakfast which consisted of their new stuffed strawberry pancakes! Also had eggs, sausage and bacon. Came hi get, left full without filing for bankruptcy. This Denny's is perfectly average. The place is pretty clean, not to my standards, but fine. the service is pretty good, not great, but fine. Parking is easy and free in their lot. No one wears a mask, no one cares. I am not surprised, we are in San Diego County. This Denny's is older than many we have in Los Angeles and if you are from out of the Country, Denny's is really just a diner that has okay food. Some are much better than others. This one is fine. Just be mindful of what you order. Stick with their breakfast and you will be fine. We were seated very fast and someone came to get our drink order. Our server was very nice and we liked him. We got coffee and a Sprite for my grandson. All was fine. We ordered our meals. I went with breakfast because that is what they do best. My husband ordered steak with his breakfast, steak and eggs--mistake. My grandson ordered a burger--huge mistake. My eggs and pancakes were good. They came as ordered and I have no complaints. My husband's T Bone steak was just awful. It was ever so thin and cooked poorly. He ordered it medium rare, it came very well done. My grandson's burger was so burnt it was not eatable. Our nice server brought another one, not as burned, but not good. He did not eat it and we just shared my food. Their fries were terrible. The coffee was good, but don't expect them to refill and when you ask you will be waiting. I have never seen a burger so burned. So, order that and yes, they are going to burn it at this San Clemente Denny's. The server told us later that all are well done so no one will get sick. They are right, if you don't eat it, the burger is sure not going to make you sick. They clearly have no trust in their supplier or their methods of handling meat. But all in all, it was fine. On my way to San Diego stopped by to get breakfast and to my surprise on top of the price for the plate they are charging you 50cents per egg that comes with your order! Service has always been good. My family and I always see the sign from this Denny's from Interstate 5 when we drive down to and from San Diego so I had to come down to this location to try it and the burger and fries that I had was great and the service overall was great despite it being slow but it was busy for a Sunday afternoon and the one thing that I did not like seeing on the rock wall of this old-style building was kids drawing on there all because the parents don't pay attention to their kids but I will definitely come back. read more

Germo was our server last night. We had done the fireworks show for San Clemente High School. Needed a place to grab a quick bite. He was fantastic. Came on Halloween. Coffee was cold. Food took 45 minutes to come to the table. Out of 5 meals, 2 were edible. I asked for one meal to be removed from the bill. It was rancid (the superbird). The sandwich was cold. The three shaved slices of turkey smelled and had a green shine. There was no cheese. We asked for that meal, which I had a single bite removed from it, be taken off the bill. The server looked stricken. She explained that management mKes her pay for walk outs and voids. This is a labor violation and against the law. I will be reporting this to Cal. Labor Board and the employees should as well. If they report this abuse, they will have whistle-blower protection and can't be fired. Regardless of the violation, the food was awful. It wasn't until I went to pay that they pointed to a sign they had by the register that "this location does not accept coupons". I paid and went on my way. Contacted corporate 2x and finally received a call (3 weeks later) from "G", who claimed to be the DM/RM, and assured me that they would honor the coupon and give me a refund. Normally this restaurant is passable. today I ordered eggs Benedict which were absolutely horrendous. First of all instead of using poached eggs they used fried eggs that were burnt and very greasy. Second they used ham that was inedible and the English muffin was not toasted properly so The entire dinner was garbage. To top it off the sauce they tried to pass off as hollandaise was not it was thick had a sour taste that again was completely inedible. when I complained the waitress stated that's how they prepared it and it was on the menu of course they should've said on the menu not to order this but they don't say that do they. there is no possibility I could possibly recommend this to anyone and based on the attitude I can't even recommend this particular restaurant anymore. Anyone who eats here does so at their own risk. Also it is apparent that their help needs training and how to deal with people and the kitchen should not be blaring out Mexican movie in a restaurant where most of the clientele is Caucasian and the volume at a point where it interferes with even thinking much less eating.
