    Sirloin Steak & Eggs
    Jennifer S. M.

I haven't been to Denny's in years! Their menu options have changed since then, but still have some of the classic Denny's dishes. My family and I were here at midnight last Saturday. Parking was easy - there were plenty of spots open in front of the business. Inside, there were a few groups of people occupying some of their booths. Our waitress took our drink orders right away and gave us a good amount of time to look over the menu. First thing I saw was the steak and eggs, SOLD! I noticed they served T-bone steak and eggs and Sirloin steak and eggs. I opted for the sirloin (medium-rare with grilled mushrooms on top), over-easy eggs, hash browns, and no toast. Our waitress offered pancakes at no charge, WHAT?! I was eyeing their plant-based pancakes, so I asked what was in them. Flaxseeds, wheat, and cinnamon. Mmm... Our dishes arrived all at once after a few minutes. We were all digging in and having a great time. Our waitress was lovely! She was attentive and friendly. She made the experience more enjoyable. I appreciate the fact this is open 24/7, and that the food was decent even at a late hour. Next time we're looking for a late night bite, I would come back here.

Same dish on the senior menu, $5 less

I am very disappointed with my experience at this Denny's location. Unfortunately, this visit had several issues that made our dining experience very frustrating. I came here with my friend and my dad, who is 80+ years old with silver hair and clearly a senior citizen. I ordered him the same meal that was offered on the 55+ menu, but later noticed it was about $5 less. When I asked if the price could be adjusted, I was told it could not be honored because I originally ordered from the regular menu. I understand restaurants have policies, but I feel this situation could have been handled with better customer service and common courtesy. Since it was the exact same meal, I was disappointed that the staff was unwilling to make a reasonable adjustment for a senior customer. The service was also disappointing. Our dishes came out at different times, which made it difficult for everyone to enjoy their meals together. My dads order was Salmon with mashed potatoes and broccoli. I asked if we can substitute the veggies with corn, but it still came with broccoli. I did not mind the correction, but instead of bringing out the corn, the food was taken away and left waiting while the server attended to other tasks and helped another customer. By the time his plate came back, his food was cold. - The food quality was not what I expected. Some of the food was overcooked. - My favorite dessert (caramel apple pie crisp) was very disappointing. The dough was soggy and not crispy at all. - the raspberry iced tea was extremely sweet compared to previous visits. - coffee was like warm I hope management reviews this situation and considers being more accommodating in the future. Good customer service is about making guests feel valued, not just following a menu price.

There's a ritual I do whenever I order a two or three egg classic breakfast where I leave the up…read moreeasy eggs for last, combine them with a good pile of hash browns, and some of the meat. And then I just mix them up for the last five to eight bites. It's heavenly, combining the best parts of the breakfast into a mash that is more delicious than its individual components. I call it the Grand Finale. And I've done it all across the country in dozens of cities in hundreds of restaurants for decades now. But it takes really good runny and sunny eggs that haven't been overdone or else the ten to twenty minutes of eating everything before the Grand Finale is just going to leave the eggs hard and unusable. It also takes some good meat that not only will be flavorful on their own but also blend well with the mush. And lastly, it takes a good set of hash browns that isn't overly crispy or overly mushy. Roberta's Village Inn has all of that and more. That was one of the best Grand Finales I've had in years. Usually I don't do it with gravy because the country gravy tends to overpower everything else. But the country-fried steak with gravy didn't do that at all. It blended right in with all the other tastes. So too did the eggs remain remarkably running, all the better to be mixed at the end. And, of course, the thin-cut hash browns was plentiful, seasoned (by me), and, mostly importantly, crispy enough on top and bottom, while remaining soft (but not mushy) within. It was the Perfect Storm of a Grand Finale. The service was great. My server took extra care of me, even when I made the mistake of not noticing the food joint was cash only. I took it all in stride. She not only checked on my just frequent enough but was extra helpful in getting me refills, to-go containers, and the check when it was appropriate. The mood and style of the place was classic diner and I dug it. All ever want is a place to chill in with good food, that isn't overly pressured to kick you out for turnover sake. I was about to say it's kind of a small dining room, but when I went to the ATM I saw they have a whole other dining room that must be for when the place starts jumping for the breakfast rush. I'm assuming that's their busiest time judging by how memorable my breakfast plate was tonight. Overall, I already want to come back during breakfast hours and witness the majesty and awesomeness of this food joint when it's fully operation. I'm betting that's really going to be something to see.

The service was HORRIBLE.I tried multiple times to get someone attention to get a coffee refill and was unsuccessful for well over 20 minutes , I didn't receive my toast until I was halfway through my meal and the was after I asked the waitress for it. The wait staff seem to only be friendly to the usual customers. The only part of the meal that we actually enjoyed was the Bacon. Not only was the service bad but behind the counter looks dirt and dusty. This is a spot I will never return to.

But lately, over the past ten days I've been consuming pastrami like, well, Joey Chestnut demolishes hot dogs every July 4th. Last night's pastrami sando from Legends marks my fourth similar order in the past eight night's. I paired it with a small fries, which are enough to share. Not gonna bother littering this review w/ extraneous pics of Legends '50s style Americana design- Everyone else snaps plenty of those... So was Legends up to their emulatable name? Mehhhh, quite solid...but not necessarily Hall of Fame caliber. The meat is plentiful, piled 2.5" high on the bread smeared w/ yellow mustard. But the flavor profile of the 'Strami is rather spartan- No palette fireworks that you experience w/ famous pastrami sandos churned out by Brent's Deli (Northridge), Katz (NYC), etc. In the vast ranking of Glendora-adjacent Pastrami Sando sellers, I'd rank em: 1.) I had asked for cornbread, but they told me they couldn't add it through Uber Eats, so it wasn't included. That was understandable, and I had assumed it was free because of some older menu photos on Yelp. Since I enjoyed the food, I decided to come back and order in person to avoid miscommunication. One thing I will mention is that they didn't include BBQ sauce on the side when I ordered via Uber Eats. If you're ordering a brisket sandwich, the sauce that's already on it isn't really enough. Today, I specifically asked to buy two pieces of cornbread because that was what I was really looking forward to. By the time I got home, I ate my sandwich and found a piece of hair in it. Not ideal, but mistakes happen. Then I went to get my cornbread and realized it wasn't in the bag at all. I had specifically asked for it, and I don't know whether I was charged for it because I didn't ask for a receipt since I paid by card. The workers were very friendly, and the food itself has been good except for the hair in my sandwich and today's Mac and cheese was very salt Overall my experience was pretty disappointing because again I did not get the corn bread I specifically came for and the hair in my food and the Mac and cheese was so salty I didn't even eat it. The coffee tastes like a clean, bitter, cold brew with a foamy top. (Important: Bring Cash. There's a 4% Cash Discount.) I arrived at Rail Side Cafe (San Dimas) on Thursday (around 12:13PM). Parking is simple but busy. There's a side lot for customers; sign says, "2 Hour Parking." Staff is courteous, no-nonsense, and diligent. Staff worked hard. Staff quickly answered all my questions. My coffee took about three minutes. Good time. As mentioned, I ordered the Nitro Cold Brew ($9 - Large - 24oz). The coffee is very standard. It tastes exactly like any imagined cold brew coffee. Personally, the roast tasted a little burnt, but it's a common, familiar coffee flavor. The strength was weak for a nitro, but the HUGE SIZE and affordability balances it all out. This is a functional, budget drink. On ambiance, Rail Side Cafe (San Dimas) is a HUGE success. There's a lot of utility. The location has a self-serve water station, public internet with no password, stacked high chairs for children, two game corners (ex: Chess, Giant Connect 4, Giant Jenga, Uno Cards, Etc), and about one available electrical outlet. I also appreciated the retro, upbeat music and 1930s movie decor. In addition, Rail Side Cafe (San Dimas) has plenty of seating. There's about four interior tables, but there's also 16 outside patio tables. The location is clean, well-maintained, and well ventilated. Overall, Rail Side Cafe (San Dimas) is a good, local neighborhood spot. It offers affordable choice that are prepared "good enough." I wouldn't drive a long distance for this spot, but it's a decent option if you're already nearby. 4.5 out of 5
