Last Saturday night had a change of plans and had to scramble to find another place to eat. Luckily, we remembered Frisella's Roastery, where we haven't eaten in at least a couple of years, and they were able to seat us. I had the 1/2 smoked/roasted chicken and my wife ordered the fish tacos. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the breast meat tender and juicy. The barbecue sauce they use is perfect for the dish. The beans were smoky and slightly spicy, a nice accompaniment for the chicken. My wife's fish tacos- white fish deep fried- was also very good. Almost a tempura type light batter and prep. We both ended up taking about 1/2 our dinners home as leftovers. I'm glad we remembered Frisella's. We will be going back soon. read more

**BEWARE: TAINTED FOOD** My family and I came here for dinner on the evening of June 3rd. I ordered the ribs for dinner, they were okay, nothing special. However, later that evening, I woke up in the middle of the night and was violently ill. Symptoms included fever, chills, body aches, nausea, and other gastrointestinal distress. I was so sick in fact that I went to Urgent Care the following morning, still with all of the same symptoms and after running some tests, I was diagnosed with what they believed was either food poisoning or a stomach virus from tainted food. I strongly believe the pork ribs were not cooked correctly at this restaurant and that is why I became so ill. I called the restaurant after and repeatedly tried to speak to a manager to let them know what happened since I would not want anyone else to become sick. However I was repeatedly told that a manager wasn't on duty by a boy who worked there with horrible customer service skills. I truly believe a manager just did not want to speak to anyone about any concerns. It's sad because this restaurant used to be wonderful when it was operated by the original owners, but it seems to be going downhill under new management/owners. I don't suggest eating here unless you want to risk your health and deal with unresponsive management. read more

Haven't been to glendora in so long however we were in the area and stopped by here for lunch. I love little towns like this! We stood around by the front for a few minutes while 1 guy was running around inside tending to a few tables. We opted to sit inside by the windows however there were TONS of flies swarming around the windows. They have those purple fly lights so I think it attracted them more then get rid of them, so we sat outside instead since it was nice out. The food was okay, nothing too special. What I was served was nothing close to a wedge salad at all, just a plain chopped up green salad with wilted lettuce, overripe tomatoes, and a chicken breast that was not grilled and wasn't cooked properly as it was still pink in parts. Everything was slopped together and looked completely unappetizing and inedible (gross!). I've been a loyal customer at Friselas for about five years, but I'm sad to say that the experience has really gone downhill over the last two years. It seems like they are consistently understaffed, leading to long wait times and service that just isn't what it used to be. On my most recent visit, they completely forgot my sister-in-law's salad. By the time we had to ask about it, we were already finished with our meal. They brought it out at the very end and simply asked if we wanted it to go--there was no apology, no offer to discount the bill, or even a gesture to comp the salad for the mistake. It feels like the quality has dropped significantly since the change in ownership. My sister also visited recently and had a similarly disappointing experience. It's frustrating to see a place we used to love lose its touch, and I hope they can get things back on track soon. read more

Drew was a wonderful server. I came her with my sister and my niece. There was plenty of seating inside and outside. The drinks were great. The food was terrific. The shrimp and ribeye steak was really good. It was my nieces birthday and they brought out a hot fudge ice cream as a surprise for her. The appetizer platter was really good. Food was amazing! Had the BBQ burger with BBQ pork, green bean fries, and their chips and dip. Soooooooooooooooo good. The BBQ burger was ginormous! A tad too much IMHO but it was really good. Tried the jalapeno margarita, long island, and the Manhattan. Omgosh the drinks were so strong and tasty. The bartender, forgot her name...starts with a K. She was new (maybe just started working a week ago) but her knowledge of drinks makes it seems like she's OG! Her service and attitude went above and beyond. I'm not a fan of Manhattan, but I looooooved hers. I'd come back for her Manhattan! She definitely deserves a raise for her wealth if knowledge and great customer service since customer service is lacking these days. Tonight at Frisella's we had an absolutely awful experience to the point that we and all of our party are not going back again. Please read on for the details. It first started when we arrived and the lady asked if we had a reservation after someone else had seated us. She was very nice at that time but we were very confused because there was only one other table with 4 people. It was 5 o'clock and seemed a bit odd to be that empty, maybe it was a sign of things to come. We asked about the happy hour and were shown the drink menu that only had a couple beers on it and a house wine that was on happy hour. The print on the menu was so tiny it was like they were hiding sometime. They were (more on that in a minute). We ordered our drinks and were fairly promptly served. We were then asked what we would like to order and ordered our food. By the way the menu was nice and new and the prices have gone up significantly since the last time I was there. Still not surprised as most places are raising their prices. Well as long as the portions and food are worth the price. Our food arrives and all of us are looking at each other. I made a comment that the kids menu burger looked better than what I got and it had more food on the plate. My pork sliders were so darn tiny and they were more coleslaw than meat. Also the portion of fries was kinda light. It almost felt like a lunch item but at a dinner item price. Also the pulled pork was kind of lacking taste and the fries were like the cheap ones that you get frozen from a grocery store freezer isle. Not at all worth the price and I was very disappointed. Someone else ordered a clam chowder and it came out cold and also they said it tasted like it came right out of a can. One other person at our table ordered the ribs with the red slaw and this place was known for their very good red slaw. They said that it tasted like it was just cut up red slaw in water. Lastly on the food someone got the beer battered fish and fries and their comment was that the batter tasted like the cheap store bought batter and was very bready. We got waters for the table and the water tasted like it was not filtered and was straight out of the tap. Odd because the soda fountain should use filtered water. Maybe their filters have gone bad or they just are not using a filter anymore. The beers were normal and tasted fine. Then the bill came... Oh my goodness when we saw this we all blew a gasket. Everyone at the table did a double-take because what they did on the bill was illegal and we are also in the process of reporting them for what we found and they would not fix when we told them they were in the wrong. They added 3% extra to every item that we ordered. So every like item had an extra 3% tacked on to it!! When we asked they told us that it was to cover credit card fees. We just got the check! We were paying cash! Here is their scam and what is an illegal practice. They are adding 3% to each food item automatically. These items are taxable. So not only are they charging 3% but also you have to pay 10.75% tax on this extra charge of 3% they are adding to your per item price. In every state that is illegal! Also it is required to state in plain view that you will be charging 3% transaction fee on credit card charges. This 3% is supposed to be charged on the pre tax amount and does not incur sales tax! They have signs up (see picture attached) not in plain view that if you pay with cash and you get a 3% discount. When they put the 3% on the food item and then charge sales tax you actually are paying more in the end when they charge you 3%+10.75%! Total scam!!! They also scammed us on some of the prices. The drinks were all wrong and because the happy hour menu was so confusing they argued with us that what we had ordered was not in happy hour pricing even though we ordered what we asked them if it was in happy hour and they pointed to it. The manager would not correct any of the prices on the items that were "on the happy hour". The manager would also not fix the 3% when we called them out on this scam that they are doing. The last thing was the icing on the cake. The guys bathroom was a disaster. I would have expected the condition of the bathroom to be in a run down fast food restaurant but not a restaurant that the cheapest food item on the menu starts at $15. The urinal was covered in black plastic, the light fixtures were broken, the lighting was out of a horror movie, there was a bar stool in the bathroom, the floors were sticky, and there was an advertisement for a transportation escort company in the corner of the cabinet. It is sad to see such a good place go so downhill and try to scam their patrons. We have been coming here for years and now after this experience we will not be coming back. And if you have recently visited the restaurant please check your bill and see if you too got scammed on your food prices. read more

I hate to leave a bad review but I just can't believe the terrible service and subpar food that we spent our hard earned money on. We came in with a group and were seated rather quickly as there were maybe 2 other patrons already in the restaurant. We ordered some starters and some drinks and then proceeded to order our food. We weren't able to order the "mini" burgers because they weren't offered before 2pm (happy hour). Although we were able to order them for the kids. ( just came here 2 weeks ago at the same time and ordered them) . So strange, but we ordered other food: ribs, half chicken, fish and chips, monte cristo, etc. We were sadly disappointed in the quality of the food. Even the kids meals were lacking, the kids grilled cheese was just pitiful. One tiny slice of cheese on a slider bun and it was only stuck to the bottom bun. Seriously, can you at least put a piece of cheese that isn't paper thin on a kids meal? We also waited forever for refills. The waiter said he would get me a refill when he delivered my meal and then disappeared to help other tables for about 20 minutes. Never checked on us and we didn't receive one of our starters. When we asked for a refill he said just let me put in this other table's order and then I will get you your drinks. He appeared to put in their order and then went to the bar and proceeded to make some mixed drink for that table. He never came to refill our drinks! My daughter in law was so thirsty she was going to drink from the baby's cup that we brought in with him. Then a lady said do you need refills and she went around getting the refills. I'm just so sad that things went the way they did. Like I said we've been here within the last 2 weeks and everything was great the last time. I ordered a mixed drink, I don't remember the name but it was so good and recommended by the waitress. I ordered the roasted chicken. It was the best juiciest chicken I ever had. The two sides I got were the baked beans and potato salad. The beans were good, I really like the flavor. Potato salad was good too. So disappointed. This used to be our absolute "go to" in Glendora. We were the only customers at 12:00 on a Monday. There were 4 of us. Another couple came in after us. The servers congregated at their table and ignored us. We finally had to wave down a server after over 20 minutes for them to take our order. When the food finally showed up there was paper inside one of the burgers. They took it back to remake it, unfortunately, an hour lunch break was over. We had to take the order to go. My friend and I went here for Happy Hour last Wednesday because they have live music that evening starting at six. We hit it at 4:30 because happy Hour stops at 6:00. We heard there was a new owner which put me on guard. Not necessary at all! I had a nice pour of the house wine Merlot and my friend had the house wine Cabernet. Both were delicious. We only ordered one food item - the fried zucchini and it was outrageously good!! Perfect crunch, huge portion that we shared and still had some left over. So far, so good, new owner! We fell in love with this restaurant when they were located in LaVerne. Went there about every other month. Then all of a sudden, they were gone. My wife found out about them moving through FaceBook so we thought that we would give them a try. Much nicer location with a lot more room. The menu is pretty much the same as it was previously. We decided to try them for lunch today. Started out with the Golden Onion Basket. OMG!! Just like we remembered, Nice flavors and we could have eaten them by themselves, but they included a wonderful warm barbecue sauce that just put it further over the top. My wife remembered how great their Tri-tip was, so she ordered the half sandwich with a cup of soup. Unfortunately, the Tri-tip was dry and did not have much flavor and the Clam Chowder seemed to have more salt than clams. One spoon was all she could handle. The chips that came with it are house made and looked amazing but they could have used some of the salt that was in the clam chowder to add some flavor to them. I ordered the BBQ Pork Sliders with chips. The sliders were pretty good. Same story on the chips. Next time I will try the sweet potato fries instead, if we make it back. Service was okay as well. Seemed like they were understaffed for a Monday lunch. We were seated right away and our drinks were brought pretty quickly. Everything else took a little while. Even when we were finished, it took a while to get our check. Maybe just go with what most would expect in this area: classic rock, modern country, pop etc. People don't expect rap and modern R&B here, but whatever... I'm not one to leave one-star reviews, but this experience was unacceptable. We ordered a large family meal, and the salad came out after dinner. The tri-tip was extremely tough I mentioned it to the server (not asking for it to be free), and nothing was said or done. On a Saturday night, the owner had only one server, which led to long waits and drinks not being refilled multiple times. This was a birthday dinner, and while I understand not having candles, the overall lack of effort was noticeable. The owner only interacted with certain guests, which felt unprofessional. Used to come here a lot as a local and it was great. Sadly after trying it recently the food and service has been hit or miss. As I was writing this review I was going to give them 3 stars, but when I got out of the bathroom before leaving my dad told me they charged us for two extra eggs we ordered that we ended up cancelling because they took forever to come out as we were already half way done with our meal! It was not about the money at all and usually I understand it gets busy and hard in the food business and will cut some slack no problem, but there were probably 6 tables that had people there. I walked in to place a take out order for my family. I was not greeted when I walked in and had to go up to an employee to say I wanted to place an order. I ordered fish and chips, tri tip sandwich and a kids cheeseburger. I waited for 30+ minutes, to then find out my food had been sitting there and was never brought out to me. Once we got home, I opened my fish and chips and immediately knew it wasn't right. The texture was not right and when I bit into it I couldn't tear it with my teeth. The owner (and his wife?) are very nice and chatted with us for a couple minutes. They give you cloth napkins, but I actually prefer paper, so they gave us some of those, too. HOWEVER, now I just discovered that they add a 3% noncash fee to each item, EVEN BEFORE THEY SEE HOW YOU'RE GOING TO PAY. One of the other reviews mentions that, too. The chicken lime salad was pretty awful -- they just threw huge chunks of chicken on top of plain lettuce with no effort in presentation. Service was lackluster to say the least. We went there for lunch and expected a delicious Tri-Tip Beef sandwich And salad. Only 2 tables were taken and 2 servers waited on customers. It took at least 20 minutes to get one of them to take a drink order which we had to ask for twice! Our sandwich took even longer. When it arrived the cold roll had 2 small slices of meat and the potato chips were fried with rotten black spots all over and tasted like grease. First time at this establishment, it gave a great impression with a good experience. We shared a half no batter fried chicken. Flavor was lacking, could use a bit of seasoning but overall it was okay. Gravy was watery, could be a little thicker. Cole slaw was delicious. Bbq beans were on point. Service was good The waiter was kind and attentive but he was the only one waiting and serving, which is tough to do when there are many tables to serve, it adds to wait time. His personality was great and he remembered that I had mentioned my partners birthday, he brought ice cream with a lit candle at the end of our meal. Ambiance is cozy and calm, which we enjoyed. I'm not sure what happened to this place. Maybe new ownership? The fish and chips used to be amazing. Now it's a big thing of soggy dough and some fish. I tried to give it a second try and went back for brunch. Ordered a fruit bowl and the apple slices were cut into thirds. Like they went to Vins and bought a kid snack pack and then cut it more. Then it dawned on me. It's like the owner is taking product and cutting it with baking soda to make more. Or is that a d-ug dealer? Either way. The menu said $7 and when I got my receipt each item had a small amount of cents added to it. So my 7 dollar fruit was listed as $7.42. No it didnt calculate tax into it because there was tax added to the total. So check your receipts. Now service very sup par when I pay almost $94 for a bill I expect wonderful service that is not a cheap meal.. on to the good chicken was cooked very well juicy and fell off the bone I am not a fan of the flavor it's Smokey with a BBQ undertone I will pass. Fries were nice crispy and a decent house salad. We ordered the Chicken family Meal for $64 is suppose to come with 2 large sides and a salad here is the catch that needs to change. If you order the fries it automatically cancels out the other side so that is the only side you get. Which I feel is a scam, you can easily give the customer variety and allow them to get there to sides as written in the menu. Ugh...haven't been in years and quickly remembered why. Sat for a drink while I ordered to go. Took about 2 hours to accomplish that. Chicken was still good as we remembered But $40 for a full chicken is crazy. Ordered half lb tri tip (5 slices), half chicken, cup of chicken soup, chicken salad and that was $90! It's getting harder to support restaurants these days for the underwhelming experience. I wish them well, but it the new owners will need to make some changes to keep doors open. read more

Our first time here. Food took a bit but was well worth the wait! We ordered the bacon western cheeseburger with fries, Olympia burger with baked beans and tri-tip sandwhich with sweet potatoe fries.
