Went there with the kids to enjoy some lunch. My daughter was looking forward to having the Fried Cheese Melt sandwich. They have taken it off the menu but the waitress failed to tell us that till almost 15 mins after we placed our order which she substituted for turkey sandwich. I ordered the pot roast and it was very good. My daughter ordered hers without tomato but instead they gave her no bacon. Had the waitress return it which she was not happy to do. She smacked her lips like she was bothered by it. When she brought it out everyone else was done with their meal so we told her to return it and remove it off our bill. She again smacked her lips. Frankly, this Denny's at Berryessa has had better food and better service than a lot of mom-and-pop cafes we have frequented. I like the Build-It-Yourself Slam, or whatever it's called, because I can get fresh fruit as well as "hearty wheat" pancakes, which let me pretend I am getting whole grains despite the small tureen of syrup product that comes with it. The grits and hash browns are pretty good. And the coffee has improved a lot since the 80s, when Denny's was the only game in town (outside of SF) after any concert or club trip; back then, they didn't have to compete with Starbucks, so the coffee always tasted like charred Nescafe! read more

The coffee was cold and I had to ask for creamer twice before she came back. My order was missing my dipping sauces, my niece didn't get her food 30 minutes later and my grandmother didn't either. My boyfriend ordered a sirloin steak and it looked like shriveled up meat. Didn't look like a steak what so ever. The service is not great. Servers barely acknowledge you & then always make me feel like they're in a rush (which I understand if they are but don't let your customers feel that). I am not giving a good review because of the food, don't get me wrong it's not bad. But I am dedicating this review to the waitress that served my table of 6, Elizabeth. She was the friendliest person ever and actually made conversation with us. You can tell that she really was hardworking and put in effort even though she probably had been working all day. When did Denny's become a fine dining experience? Well, not really since the food is still so so diner food, but I'm talking about the service.. I was greeted by the manager, Jason P, almost right away while being seated. This was a pleasant surprise as he was still speaking to other customers, which leads me to believe he is very aware of his business environment. Upon taking my order he made suggestions and was overall very friendly. He followed up multiple times to check up on me and refilled my water, even though I was a simple customer tonight only ordering AYCE pancakes. Furthermore, I overheard him giving constructive feedback to his employees to improve customer service and operations. This guy REALLY cares! I took notice to this because I also run a food business and highly value and preach quality customer service. It's fantastic to see Denny's has hired this type of talent. My customer service experience with Denny's has always been cringeworthy and forgettable, sometimes borderline rude. You guys probably know what I'm talking about. I'm pregnant and sick, so I asked my husband to grab me some cheese sticks and extra marinara sauce from Denny's. The cheese sticks weren't crispy by the time they got home which was just a few minutes later and took a long time for them to prepare them for my husband as he waited in the restaurant after he already called first. He asked for extra marinara like I had asked but instead they gave him two ranch, two marinara and one cocktail sauce. I didnt ask for those other sauces. I wanted extra marinara! I didn't realize one of the red sauces was cocktail sauce, so when I tasted it I immediately threw up my food. Umm this Denny's is like the rest of the Denny's- just OK! I mean I understand they're a giant Chan of restaurants but they need serious work on customer service. We walked in with an expected wait of 15 minutes but that turned out to me 35 minutes when our seats were given to someone else. Second the waiter messed up on oUr food so we waited another 15 minutes while sitting there and starving- just hearing our stomachs growl. Food tasted good since it was just breakfast. The reason why I give two star was because of the service. When we first walk in is was around 2a.m. The place was pretty much empty. The hostess was rude with a mugging eyes when we was just barely walking into the door. As he walk away punching Into the pos system I change my mind and wanted a salmon with the broccoli. So I call out to my waiter. He came over and insist he can't change my order. I told him I order a side of broccoli and if the chef has already make the broccoli, he just has to cook up the salmon and slap it into the plate with a side of broccoli, is as simple as that. But he insist on not letting me upgrade my entree. I was so mad. But just told him is ok if you can't do anything about it. And he just walk away. But I guess because I did not give him atittude even though he has been giving crappy service. He decide to be nice and accommodate my request. Is was such a horrible night for me at Denny. Probably the ONLY Denny's in the southbay that is actually worth going to. I come here usually in the afternoon or late at night around 1-2am. It really doesnt matter what time I come to this Denny's as everytime I come, I get seated fast and the food is always decent. I gotta say, this is far and away the best Dennys. The other two I went to it took us nearly a century to get our orders, and when we did the food sucked! I try to avoid coming during lunch time, specially on weekends since their service is just AWFUL. I understand it gets busy and servers are stressed but there's no reason to be so rude! i was F up last might-night, i went to Denny's (Berryessa) wv my honey. they're service really SUCK. My waiter is a Mexican lady, her english not really well. so my honey ordered a Sandwich with extra Bacon and chicken wings, then a waiter gave us a wrong sandwich, a Sandwich just have Veg+ Tomato with Bacon. we call a waiter tell her its wrong sandwich and ask what is it. she answer us, thats sandwich is what we order one. we ask her what is a sandwich name? she said XXX.... we dun know what is it, ask her give the menu to us. so we cant find a Sandwich like our Sandwich. we ask a waiter again, she answer thats sanwich name on the other Menu. WTF..... how come we order a sandwich on the other menu??? she never say to help us to change. so my honey cant accept thats F Sandwich and he wanna change it, a waiter said cant change and charge us 8.49...
