It isn't very often that I visit a corporate chain restaurant when craving breakfast food, but today I wasn't really craving breakfast, so much as something sweet, so as I was pondering: 'what could satisfy My sweet tooth and make a minimal dent in My pocketbook,' I passed IHOP(International House of Pancakes)- known for delicious pancakes. Delicious pancakes=something sweet, and they offer a value menu where 1of the 5 items happens to offer pancakes! Add a lil chocolate syrup to those thangs, and Bodddah-bing, boddah-bang- Sweet craving and money saving dilemma solved! Now you all know Me, I'm a stickler for excellent customer service, and Nolan, the young man, who waited on Me this evening(4-17-25), brought that! I didn't have to ask him for anything. He saw water glass was empty and automatically provided more water. The vibe tonight was nice and chill, with a slow flow of customers, so there wasn't much of a wait, and everything was delivered nice and hot. Little did we know that someone within our party would witness a cook leave the restroom without washing their hands. I shared this information to other staff members as for me to eat somewhere I feel better knowing that when my food is being prepared / cooked / handled it is done with the decency of clean hands. Right next to Japantown in San Jose and it was a stop that my friends and I made before heading over to Fanime. It wasn't super busy since it was the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend in the afternoon, but there was still a decent group of customers inside. Service was friendly and efficient and we got our food out pretty quickly. Quality of the food is on par with any other IHOP location. Portions were quite generous and I had a lot of my chicken fried steak left over to microwave in the hotel room afterwards. The gravy added the moistness that the chicken was lacking due to the dryness of the breading, but overall decent and hit the spot after the 6 hour drive up from SoCal. Today was one of those days when you decide to eat out. We decided to go to IHOP here by downtown San Jose because we like the food there, but today, in particular, the service we received wasn't adequate. From the moment we arrived, they gave us dirty looks. We sat down, and after a few minutes, the waitress came to take our drinks, which, by the way, took longer than the food itself. Karen H, our waitress, never once during the entire time we were eating was kind enough to come and ask if everything was alright or offer us another drink. I would understand if the restaurant had been full and they didn't have time to attend to all the tables, but there were only four tables for two waitresses. Got seated right away during the middle of the night. Fairly clean and organized restaurant. Bathrooms were clean which is always a plus. Parking can be limited during busier times. Food took awhile to get to us even though it wasn't that busy. Food was decent but pricey for what you get (my breakfast plate was over $16, not including the coffee). I like how they give you a mini pot on the side for the coffee. It's convenient to have a spot like this open during odd hours, and I appreciate the hard working staff, but I don't think I'd ever go here during a normal time. read more

The best thing about this place is that they're open 24 hours! I would definitely recommend it, especially when everything else is closed. The pricing is reasonable, and the service was excellent. Pamela helped our table and was great from the start. She was very patient with us and offered helpful recommendations. She checked on us frequently and went the extra mile to make sure everything was exactly how we wanted it. She truly deserves a raise for providing such exceptional service. The food was delicious and came out fairly quickly. The parking lot, however, is a bit tricky. The entrance is narrow and easy to miss, and you may end up passing it and seeing an exit that you unfortunately cannot enter. One concern I noticed was that the ice cream tub and whipped cream were completely exposed. Customers walk by with easy access, and there were no lids or coverings. This is extremely unhygienic, as someone could cough, sneeze, or touch it, not to mention flies, which do not appear to be prevented from making direct contact. Ordered delivery from this IHOP two times and pickup one time in like under two weeks. All 3 times we received a free breakfast sampler (!) - so that was a really good deal. Service fee was higher than expected and I live relatively far from this restaurant, but other than that everything about the whole experience has been very good (hence 3 orders). Pancakes are delicious, and I highly recommend the chicken fajita omelet. Personally I think 2-3 dishes can probably feed 4-6 people (depending on how you eat). Service was attentive and very accommodating when I was there for a coffee waiting for pickup. Would recommend and will very likely order from here again in the future (primarily due to the free breakfast sampler). read more

I love breakfast food! My boyfriend and I came to ihop on a Tuesday around 4pm and it was practically empty. I will say the furniture at this location feels like it's made for shorter people because it's so low. You will know what I mean if you come here haha. No complaints though! I decided to order off the kids menu because I didn't want to eat much. I got the happy face pancake combo but you're probably wondering why there's no happy face on the pancake. I had the choice of chocolate or buttermilk pancake and just wanted the buttermilk and no chocolate chips. I think they use the chocolate chips to make the happy face so keep that in mind. It also comes with eggs of your choice, one pork sausage and one bacon strip. It was a good and standard kids breakfast. :) My boyfriend got the New York cheesecake pancakes which he loved. I remember getting into an argument with a restaurant owner who was upset that I gave his restaurant a 3 star rating when I had given another chain a 4. My view is that each serve a different purpose and you can't say that all chains are bad...plus the food and service vary. I happen to be a fan of IHOP...don't judge me, OK. I do. I got the strawberries and cream crepe combo which came with egg, hash browns and bacon. Yummy. The only complaint is that the service was slow and it took double the time they said it would take for the food to be ready on the phone. This location looks like it used to a Weinershchitzel based on the unique shape of the building. They have outdoor seating which is good. My son and I came to this location in the afternoon. There was no wait and the service was good. I would have said this was a good experience, until I went to the restrooms. All the restrooms were out of service. How do you have a restaurant that caters to families without restrooms. I could understand if a Plummer was onsite working on an issue but there was no one in site. If you want to come to this location, make sure to use a restroom elsewhere first. read more

There are few options at 6AM as I had dropped off someone at the airport and needed a place to chill over breakfast before heading into the office later. Lowest quality ingredients dominate the fare, probably using a GMO product for their low/no fiber pancakes. I can picture corporate bean counters figuring out how to get away with the cheapest fillers at the highest price possible before driving away customers. I don't write a review. When I go to a classic American diner I want about six things. Hot coffee that gets refilled or comes in quantity. Crispy bacon. Eggs the way I want them. Flour that tastes proper. Syrup that's flavorful. Sausage that tastes good. I got these six things at IHoP. I love the American diner experience. The kindness of the hostess. Being left alone but looked after. Food that's delivered with speed. The heat of the playing. The fluffiness of the flours. The crispness of that bacon. The flavor of the sausage. Most important, and they're all important, are the eggs; they should come out the way you request them. All of these things were delivered. The experience was great. I'm satisfied at six AM and I'm ready to start what's going to be a great day. I couldn't ask for more more. Nothing like being struck with the gratitude when every element of your meal is perfect. Went on saturday morning expecting a nice breakfast instead I got served the worst attitude and customer service ever. We were going to get sat at the front which was seemingly empty but instead got seated by the bathrooms which had an unpleasant smell. along with this our server didn't even look at us when taking our order which felt a little targeted because when observing the male customers they had their undivided attention. Along with that we only got checked up on twice, once to get our order taken and the other time to get handed our check. the girl with the sunflower earrings was extremely dismissive to female customers and sometimes Spanish speakers. The food was mediocre at best but with the horrible service it was sickening. read more
