Stopped by the old "Carrow's" for a Sunday dinner. We ordered cheeseburgers and a turkey club to go. The employee who answered the phone provided us with great customer service. I hate to say this but the cheeseburger was by far the best burger we've had in a long time even better than In N Out. These burgers don't compare to Red Robbin. Food is pretty good, service is some of the worst I've ever received. They basically forgot about us. The waiter, think his name was Pedro, left on a break and never came back to check on us. We only got a few refills on our drinks and pancakes. This location is garbage, avoid it at all costs. Seriously, I considered walking out without paying. The service is way too slow for a Dennys to be honest sometimes I go to other places just because they take so long here. The pancakes are so good. The waitress is always nice.!its freezing cold in here bring a sweater. I always feel like it smells like old sewer by the restroom but the employees are used to that smell. The coffee is weak but the nice waitress made fresh bold coffee so I appreciate that. The breakfast food is good I don't like their dinners, lunch is fine. This is the worst Denny's I have ever been to, and I have been to many. It was okay at first, the server promptly took our drink order and she walked back behind the counter and started talking to coworkers and what looked like the manager. The drinks took forever, and before they even arrived, another waitress (Nessa) showed up and asked if we wanted any drinks. We told her how we'd already gotten our drinks and then she took our order instead of our original waitress. When we finally got our drinks from the first waitress, she asked to take our order. Once she went back behind the counter we could see she was frustrated with the other waitress that Nessa had taken our order instead of her. We ordered "Moons over My Hammy," Chicken Strips, and the Pancake Puppies. The chicken strips were all right and the MOMH was good, but they'd forgotten the puppies. We waited about fifteen minutes (AFTER finishing our meals) for attention from the waitresses so we could let them know that they had forgotten the Pancake Puppies, but it took a lot of effort to flag down a waitress since all of them seemed busy hanging out behind the register. We finally got the attention of Nessa, who had taken the order with the pancakes, and she said she'd get our original server... so we waited ANOTHER five minutes until she showed up and told us that she hadn't even put in the order, and that now she would. Once we finally got the Pancake Puppies we were pretty fed up. We'd been there for almost an hour and it was late and we wanted to get home. Instead of the regular Pancake Puppies, they gave us the tropical ones, which were disgusting, and we left them at the table... As if anything could get any worse, we attempted to pay, and the cashier charged us $53 instead of the $26.99 we owed. The manager had to come refund us in cash. It's only my second time here at the Santa Paula Denny's and honestly the service is slow. We got in, was told to sit anywhere and it wasn't even that busy. We were seated, waited about 5 minutes before someone took our order. Our waitress was Marissa, she gave us our drinks which was just water and Coke. Told us that she would be back to take our order. We were probably already sitting there for 20-25 minutes waiting for her to come back. IT WAS NOT BUSY AT ALL! I could see her just standing there talking to two of her coworkers and she looked at me and looked away. We were already contemplating on whether we should just leave or not but I was hungry. So I had to grab another waitress to get our order. I ordered half an order of zesty nachos and grilled chicken Caesar salad but with ranch on the side because I don't really like Caesar dressing. When she put the order in, you can hear the cooks complaining or wondering what the heck I ordered because I wanted ranch on the side instead of the Caesar dressing. The food didn't take that long---thank god! But Marissa was the one to take us our food. And having been a waitress once and having friends who are waitresses, there's a rule where you serve your table food and come back in 2-3 minutes or after the first bite and ask if everything is ok or if anything was needed. When she served us our food, I had to ask for utensils because there was none on the table. And she never returned to see if anything was wrong or needed. By the time we were done, I just wanted to leave. It took forever to get our waitress's attention because she was talking to other coworkers and started chatting with her friends who just came in. I understand that she is serving them but she completely ignored us when she was done getting her new tables drink orders. We complained to the manager that the service was horrible and it didn't seem like he cared because he too was talking to someone else. We just paid whatever the tab was and left. I didn't bother tipping because the service was that bad and I usually always tip because I know how it is to be a server. I know that this place just opened not too long ago but with service like this, I am not sure how long they'd last. read more

I search out Denny's for their Grand Slam Slugger breakfast, usually in the late evening. It was as good here as I've had, and I think Denny's has the best hash browns. Marissa was our server, and she was efficient and pleasant. Denny's is an endangered species, as the Ventura location as well as many in the SF Bay area have recently closed. This is just a review for their "to go" service. This is the second time I use this service and have gotten horrible outcome the first time I ordered at the counter and when i received my food 20 minutes later I went home opened it and noticed the French toast was missing! I had to drive back to the restaurant. The second time I called ahead thinking it would be faster, I get there and they can't find my order! I had to reorder and wait again more time. If you want breakfast to go I recommend flight 126 or hozzy's as this establishment does not seem to have figured it out! read more

Horrible service. Came in for Christmas dinner and my mom ordered the turkey stuffing sandwich and it literally tasted like it was made in French toast. We asked the waiter what kind of bread it was and she said sourdough. Um no, It tasted like syrup...maybe it was a dirty plate? Then my dad and I ordered steaks and had to ask 3 different workers for steak knives before finally getting dirty knives. My daughter had Mac n cheese and her plate had dried up yogurt on it. We told our waitress and she just said "ok" and took the plate...and did nothing about it. So my daughter had no food. Been here for breakfast and dinner. Lucked out with pretty good waiters. Some of them can be very attentive while others can forget about you and it'll take a while to get their attention. Their menu has a lot of options. I love their whole wheat pancakes with banana and pecans! For breakfast, their cups for coffee and milk/fruit juices run too small for me. They don't even leave out the coffee carafe for self-serve so every time I've had to wait for them to make the rounds. Sadly they don't have soy or almond milk and vegan options. read more

Wow, this experience was something. So we go in for to go, and we are told 10 minutes. Then after waiting 20 minutes, we go back inside and they told us are food is done, they just need to bag it. Then after waiting ANOTHER 10 minutes for someone to bag our food, then gave us the wrong drinks, so we correct them only for them to give us the WRONG DRINKS AGAIN! Now while they're busy they decide to change the drawers as soon as we're ready to pay. We bring our food home, and discover there is no seasonings or anything on our food. Best food and service I've ever had at a Denny's and unfortunately I've eaten at a lot of Denny's. We showed up in the middle of the night with no other customers in the restaurant. Our waiter, Travis, was great! Made sure we had everything we needed and was there to refill the coffee when it got low. This is the worst Denny's I've ever been to. They took about an hour to bring us our food. The waitress brought me a coffee but took a while to brings us silverware after I brought it to her attention so I couldn't mix the sugar and cream in my coffee. My hash brown was burnt on the outside and raw on the side. I told the waitress and she just said she was sorry and that'd she'd take care of me the next time I came in. I told her i was from out of town and she didn't offer a discount or anything. I asked for more sugar and she brought me a few packets for two people. I asked for water and she brought it in a glass slightly bigger than a shot glass. They brought my friends toast after he was done eating. The greeter guy was cool, even kind of funny which is appreciated at 12:30am, but from that moment on it was horrible service. We were told to sit wherever, so we did.
