The Santa Paula Denny's is horrible. They didn't take our names and went out of their way to take the names of people who came way after us. We were sitting there for quite awhile and I know they saw us. Once a huge group walked in and was taken care of we decided to leave because clearly we were not going to be served. I have been here 3 times and this last time was so disappointing. We arrived for dinner and they were not busy at all I was greeted by some unprofessional girls that could not figure out where we should be seated. They continued on and on loudly "where should I sit them" The waitress finally just told me to pick a seat and I did. Sat there for a few minutes and seen the girls again so unprofessional with 3 older ladies that came in, they couldn't figure out where to seat them. Cindy was quick at getting g our drinks but then completely disappeared when we were ready to place our order. We waited 10 minutes and finally I asked for the bill for my drinks as we were leaving. I wish I could put no stars. Staff, except one gentleman, was rude and hardly came to check on us. We were a big group but we felt neglected. It would have been more efficient to get us our food one my one as soon as each was ready, but they did it all at the same time, causing us to be there from around 10:00- 12:30. That is one more hour that we could have had not bothering others around is. It was a Friday night. There should be more people working and helping on Friday & Saturday night shifts. Also, multiple people I know have gotten sick off this food including myself. Not to mention that the kitchen was right behind us so I'm sure they heard us complaining. The item I ordered smelled like literal s**t. I would not recommend this to anyone willing to spend money just to spend a day I bed with food poisoning the next day. I don't like writing reviews but something had to be said. I've come here at least 4 times and I've given Different menu items a chance. Nothing satisfied me, but only made my stomach feel gross. I will only eat at THIS Denny's location. I live 25 miles away and I feel like I'm cheating on the staff if i eat at another Denny's. Man the host who greats you(I'll get your name again bro and put it in the review) is always welcoming and entertaining and the moment the waitress Victoria sees my fiance and I she is already getting our drink order ready she is always so helpful as well. . The service is always great no matter how big the rush is. Being a past waiter and seeing the chemistry the staff has is cool. Everyone seems to be on the same page and helping one another. I believe the name of the manager is Tanya and she's always around making sure everyone is taken care of too. The food is always good and make a specific way for us. We came in on opening day and the service was awesome. Ricarda is so sweet and has great customer service! Decided to come in for a second time and had yet another fabulous server named Monica...this time however there was a manager working (very tall white guy no name tag) who we observed down talking and direspectfully addressing other employees throughout our meal. Asking a server "if she'd throw that out at home?" And sarcastically speaking to your host in front of customers is pretty rude. Glad I don't work for him. read more

So as hard as I try it is impossible for me to not "watch" the workings of every restaurant I go to. I have been to this Denny's many times and it is always good. Victoria works really hard and always gets it right. The only downside...... management. The last two times I have been here the male manager has been working the floor and I'm not really sure what he thinks his roll should be????? So let me clarify what you should do for your team and your guests. First of all, tell your district leader not to come on Sunday morning when you have lots of guests and more important things to do then listen to him tell you how to better the "bottom line". If he has to come on a busy Sunday morning then be part of the team...... Don't just walk past the guests waiting at the door for someone to say "hi". They are your guests as much as they are the servers guests. Be part of the team and help. As for the manager, help your servers, busers, cashiers, dishwashers, cooks, all of those jobs are your job. If you give a server yet another table when she is clearly in the weeds, ask them for a drink order, see if they need a highchair or booster seat, or silverware........ Don't just drop menus and walk away....... This is not good customer service and if I'm not mistaken, that is the business that you are in. read more

First and last time coming here. Service was horrible. As we entered the waitress Michelle that took us to our table was eating. She sat us down and took awhile to get our drinks. We finally order and again the food took awhile to get to our table. Our food finally came in and Michelle never came back to ask if everything was fine, we had to ask another server to get us a refill. She came back within 8 min after bringing our food to the table to hand us our bill to pay. We weren't even half done with our food. Not to mention another of Michelle's table actually walked out because she took forever to take their oder. Michelle still continued chewing and talking while taking food to one of her tables. Literally the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Wouldn't even qualify this place as a restaurant. The service is non-existant, the orders are consistently wrong. How a place can manage to bring cold food straight from the griddle is beyond me yet they do it on the daily. If you don't get food poisoning expect to get bit by the insects they let freely crawl through your food. Don't worry though, they come free of charge! We tried telling her to bring only 1 pancake to our order, because we were getting and did not want to WASTE food. She still brought us two. We ordered the Super Grand slam advertised on TV for 5.99, China said, they are franchise not corporation, not understanding what that meant I asked the Manager (Sandra) . She was very hard to understand as well and quite rude. I said, what does CORP /franchise have to do with honoring the 5.99 price, she said nothing. I wish I could give zero stars! About a week ago my mother in law walked in with her friend after going to the doctor for her diabetes. They paid for their food with what the cashier said was a fake $100 bill. The cops were called and the cashier again tested the bill along with another bill from the cashier. It turns out their bill checking machine was malfunctioning! This whole time they were treated like criminals from the employee and were not allowed to eat their food which is bad for diabetics! They were waiting for nearly an hour and employees failed to test their own machine! On top of they did not even offer to comp the meal after all the ordeal they put my mother in law and her friend through. I would think that is the least they could have done but they were happy taking their money! I used to frequent this place a couple times a month but I will no longer support this place after piss poor customer service. read more

Last food came out 20 minutes after first plate. Manager worthless and basically that is the way they operate. Unfortunately my review for the Santa Paula Denny's is not good. I have lived here for over 25 years and love all the "Mom and Pop" restaurants in town and try to stray from the Chain restaurants. But I decided to give the "New" Denny's a try because I have eaten at many Denny's across the county which for the most part are acceptable. First off the inside and whole building is very clean and is a refurbished Carrow's which they did a very good job. When we first walked into the restaurant it was not very busy and we stood at the hostess station for over 5 minutes before anyone even noticed that we were there. "First annoyance" When we finally got seated our waitress was nice and she apologized for having "tunnel vision" "2nd annoyance" and not seeing us. Really??? She then came back and took our order in a timely manner but that is when she failed. Some other person brought out our food after a very long wait and we never saw our waitress again, or anyone else. She never came back to check on us to see if she could refill our coffee or anything. After we ate we had to ask for a check 15 minutes after we finished our meal. "3rd annoyance" and Strike 3!!!. Our waitress finally gave us a check but never asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything else. Overall food was OK but service was SUPER HORRIBLE!!!. I can overcome mediocre food but when service sucks it is not a good thing. I will be surprised if this restaurant makes it past a year with CLUELESS STAFF and and obviously CLUELESS MANAGEMENT. She didn't ask what we wanted to drink, she screwed up our order 2 times and was so rude when we confronted her about it. We had a party of 3 and she bought out everyone's food at different times! I have been to this location 2 other times and it was decent (better than Ventura). But last night my 4 other friends and I visited. First of all we got there and it took 5 mins for us to even order our drinks, it took another 10 mins for us to get our drinks. We ordered our food 30 mins later, it came out in about 15 mins. I ordered the seasonal skillet and it came out still cooking and it didn't stop cooking for like 5 mins and then I started eating it and it was all burnt and dry on the bottom, my girlfriend ordered a steak medium rare and it came out still bleeding on the plate almost still mooing to the point it would have made her sick. We asked to speak to a manager and he didn't come by for about 10 mins. When he did come by all he said was, "how can I help you" we proceeded to tell him what was wrong with our food, he didn't say anything besides okay do you want me to have them remake the food and we said well of course and how can you make it to where we are highly satisfied and he said 25% discount and that's it. My friend (a manager himself ), ended up getting me a free meal because I wasn't going to pay for a burnt skillet and it took 15 mins to get a decent plate back. So I got a free meal. Yeah we were a little loud, but I observe (as I work in a restaurant myself) the manager kinda stood by the counter was looking at us and walked away shaking his head like we were there for a party but we really weren't, we were just hungry and wanted our dang food. The waiter was pretty decent even though it took her 10 mins to make 3 simple shakes, but the manager was a total idiot and I don't even know how he got a manager position, I could be a better manager. We went to pay our tabs separately and we were told previously that we would all get a 25% discount and he knew it was gunna be separate tabs, we had to push them and ask them AGAIN, well where's our discount, we aren't paying full price for poor management, poor service, poor food and such. my girlfriend and I had to pay full price for her steak that came out still mooing but they took off the skillet. Went to this location and got seated pretty quickly. Once we were seated with our menus, 20 minutes had gone by and no one had taken our order or asked if we wanted beverages while we waited. I then got up and told a cashier that we've been waiting for some time now for someone to come and take our orders. Another 10 minutes went by and finally someone showed up and we placed our orders. The food took a little long to come out and the waitress forgot to bring out an order of pancakes for one of my orders. The waitress then said that she would be right back with that order. 15 minutes go by and the waitress came back and asked if everything was okay and if we needed anything else. I then told the waitress about the pancakes that we've been waiting for and then said she would be right back with the order. By this time, we were almost done eating our food and the waitress finally came by with our order. We ended up taking the order home with us. I went to this fabulous Denny's on Mother's Day. It was packed and the servers and management were wonderful. The food was great and they gave us a flower which was an awesome touch. This was in the morning around 11 I highly recommend this Denny's. read more

Went in this AM with my nephew and husband to,dine in. Had the pot roast mashed potatoes and broccoli .. it was so cold. Husband ordered pot roast sandwhich and it was burned and nephew ordered club sandwich. We didn't complain we just decided to get boxes so we can take our stuff to go there was no point wasting time sitting there and picking at our food. For some odd reason my debit card wasn't going through and I text my husband who was putting our special needs son in our vehicle while I paid to come in and give me cash while i called my bank to see what was wrong with my card. I waited there patiently for 15min while our waitress was attending other costumers JUST to tell her I'll be paying cash instead but she started to yell at me saying she's going to get a manager which was fine with me. Manager came and started to scream saying my bank isn't her problem and me being 8months pregnant calmly said there's no need to scream all I want to do is pay and go. I have no idea why they were treating me the way they were. I felt discriminated. . I don't dress the fanciest and had no make up on today but the way they approached me was very rude.
