We used to go to Denny's for breakfast often years ago, but we stopped going due to some unflattering advertisement. However, we decided to give it a try because it was in the area in which we had an appointment, and we had some time to waste. We were seated soon after we entered. Our server was pleasant and we appreciated her attentiveness. I ordered a simple breakfast (a slice of turkey bacon, cheese grits, fried egg - over hard). My husband had country fried steak, broccoli, scrambled eggs, and pancakes. He enjoyed his meal; my meal was good except that my eggs weren't cooked as ordered - so I didn't eat them as planned. We didn't have time to send my eggs back and request a re-do, so I got some of my husband's scrambled eggs and he had my "not fried over hard" eggs! :o) read more

I can't lie, I'm a Cracker Barrel type of girl. It had my heart at high-fructose free corn syrup. But the long wait times and high prices sent me looking for a new love. I hadn't been to Denny's since my after club days in the 90's (dating myself). But me and the fam needed breakfast! PARKING/INTERIOR/SERVICE Plentiful, free parking, clean interior and friendly and attentive servers made me feel welcome. Maybe the GM had everyone on their best behavior, he even called some of customers by name! I called in my order but arrived late. Fortunately, it wasn't put in until I arrived so our meals were hot, fresh and fast! VALUE You cannot beat the family pack! You get 8 pancakes, 8 scrambled eggs, 4 bacon strips, 4 sausage links and hashbrowns for $31! And honestly, one Denny's pancake is the size of two anywhere else. TASTE/PRESENTATION I'm not a huge fan of Denny's pancakes. They are dense, semi-sweet, require a ton of syrup and are consistently overcooked. After voicing my concern the GM switched them out for lighter cakes, no questions asked! The eggs seem powdered (like IHOP not Cracker Barrel) but after a mountain of cheese was added ($3 extra for 8 eggs) I didn't care! I didn't eat the meat which looked oily but my loved ones had no complaints. Everything was packaged perfectly. VERDICT Denny's is clean, affordable & tasty with nice service and no wait. I still prefer Cracker Barrel but when I don't feel like waiting forever & spending too much, Denny's will be my breakfast fix. I recommend! read more

This morning, I placed an online order around 8:30 AM and arrived at the store at approximately 9:07 AM. My order was not ready. After standing there for about two minutes, a staff member approached me and asked what I was waiting for. I explained that I was there to pick up an online order. She went to the back, and I assumed she was notifying the kitchen staff about my order -- but that did not happen. About five minutes later, a manager came out and asked what I was waiting for. I told her it was an online order and mentioned that I should not still be waiting. When she began explaining the situation, I replied that the issue was not my responsibility to manage. At that point, another customer decided to insert himself into the conversation. We exchanged words, and then a staff member told me not to speak to the customer. First of all, he approached me -- the staff should have asked him not to engage with me. I was not rude, only firm in my responses. The real issue is the lack of timely food service and customer service. I paid for my order just like every other customer, and I did not initiate any confrontation. I should not have been the one corrected. Staff should know how to handle customer conflict before telling someone to be quiet. I am a customer as well. Had the other customer not involved himself, I would have simply picked up my food and left. We were passing through and wanted to try a new place we hadn't heard of. GPS / Google said the meltdown was an option. Looked at pictures and the menu . We ordered online because we were traveling . Get there and it's actually a dennys with a DoorDash / uber menu. The hostess had no clue what I was talking about. The cooks were outside smoking . All of them . Only 1 server working . We showed up 20 mins after ordering . But they hadn't started it . Didn't even know it printed they said. We waited. They made it pretty quick for just finding out about it. They were quick , server was nice . We tipped big because she was really hustling being the only server there . Food was advertised as grilled panini looking .... The bread was delicious! Great fresh food and fast. Very nice service. We are from out of town and decided at last minute and didn't disappoint.

Don't let the outside fool you. It may look a little worn but inside is a revamped Denny's menu with lots of good options for diner fare. We come here for breakfast, sometimes for dinner. Their prices are better than Village Inn, especially on their 55+ breakfast options. Our most recent visit revealed the menu revamp and an equal upgrade in the deliciousness of their breakfast. The basic pancakes were the best I have had in a long time and have me ready to go back for more. Service is good and the food comes pretty quickly. read more

I like Jenny's Lunchbox, but I gave it a 3 because of the grits. They taste like water. I don't care how much butter and salt you add, they still taste like water. If go you there, don't get the grits. Everything else that I have had there taste pretty good. read more

Been there many times. Food and service has always been hit or miss. After today, major miss and will never return. Stood at counter for almost 10 minutes before I was greeted. Was shoved in a back corner with sun beaten down on booth as shades would not close. Asked to move to a booth without direct sun, was told fine with an attitude. Food was bare minimum. Had a breakfast sandwich which might of had 1 egg at the most, and was undercooked and almost untoasted bread. Had to ask for silverware after food came out in order to eat. They were more worried about giving service to a couple of customers who they obviously knew quite well. Even if it was not their table. Told almost all men when I was there Happy Father's day. Ok so 5 years later, this place was HORRIBLE when last I visited. I was driving by today and on a spur of the moment turned in to see how much further they might have sunk. Place looked mostly the same, some new lighting and the booths had been redone. Server came by within a minute, got our drinks gave us menus. I was still very skeptical. Menu had been upgraded, not too shabby. Tanya our server took our order, refilled our drinks, food came out very quickly annnnnnd It was delicious. I had a basic cheeseburger. It was very well executed, cold toppings, cheese melted perfectly, my girl had a turkey BLT, also very well executed and filled to the top, fries piping hot, solid item. If you read my reviews from 5 years ago I have to say, as far as today's visit went, they are in the past, this place is far better than it was then and I have to admit I was genuinely surprised and happy. When I first arrived at the Denny's in Tallahassee it brought back fond memories of the Denny's back in New York that I patronized on a regular basis. I saw that Sam was busy at the counter but immediately turned her attention to me . She greeted me with a warm smile and asked me how my evening was going. I acknowledged her and than she immediately asked me for my seating preference. She took my order and requested my side. Iam relocating to Florida and haven't been to Tallahassee in many years. It has certainly matured and grown. I've done some hiring myself over the years. with Sam's obvious sincerity and concern for the customer and Denny's reputation I hope that the franchisee and Denny's corporation recognizes the asset that Sam is to the company. It's been years since I've been to Denny's but not too long ago I decided to go again with our Youth group and later on I went again because it was one of the only restaurants open at 3am where one can get food for your wife who had just delivered a baby lol. The portion and food have been great at this location plus the night staff are kind people. Dennys reminds me of my childhood and will continue to visit this location more often! read more

My Denver omelette had jalapeños in it, my toast looked like bread slobbered with butter (didn't come with the food it came several minutes later, how hard is it to toast bread?) my son's chocolate banana pancakes had no bananas on it, my bacon was practically raw, couldn't find the server for a takeout box and the bill. This is the only Denny's in town. This is it. That means this SOLE Denny's has to represent its vast corporate history single-handedly. It does a fairly good job. We came here a few days ago (regrettably) because we were having a difficult time getting seated at the IHOP up the street on N. Monroe. We and three other parties just left (see that review). Nonetheless, brunch was in order and this Denny's beckoned. We arrived and were properly greeted and sat. If Denny's could do it, then so could IHOP - but they didn't. (I recognize that nothing is perfect, and that restaurants, from time to time, have off-days. I do want to give IHOP another chance, but right now, it's Denny's time to shine...). The server was all smiles and courtesies. truth be told, our experience was flawless in terms of order-taking, plate presentation, and duration of prep. I was truly impressed.
