Do Not Go To This Location!! I have never had such a terrible and shitty experience before. The wait staff blames the customers and the management is poor! The wait staff talk shit about the customers where they can be heard!!To give some background on this, it is a Tuesday around noon and the dinning room is only a quarter full with a majority of the tables already having their meals. We were having a meal with our family. Now, I will admit our group of twenty was a little big, but that does not excuse a 30 minute wait for just drinks and almost an additional thirty minutes for food especially when one order was for two pancakes! When we did get our orders, our meals were warm like room temp warm and one order of ours which had been requested to have to no cheese for medical purposes, had a huge pocket of cheese in it. Then due to the incompetency of the wait staff order receipts were given to wrong tables so it came to look like some of our party had dined and dashed. The Manager then came over and more or less demanded that the remaining tables that had barely gotten their food and had to rush to eat it,cause we had plans to be somewhere by 1pm, pay for meals that weren't their own! I work the food industry myself, and let me say this: unless your staff is brand new and have experience, then there should be no way a party of 20 should wreck your kitchen staff like that! I came to Denny's here in Tehachapi despite only having 2 and 1/2 stars just because I went to the in town famous spot and did not care for it at all and the prices were too much for a breakfast. I've realized in the past that most big chain places very rarely have over 3 stars and it's usually because people come in and have a bad experience and rant and most others don't even yelp the big chains for reasons beyond me. My daughter and I wanted breakfast I figured Denny's will do but what surprised me and inspired me to write this review is how different this Denny's was from any other Denny's and most any other breakfast joints I've been to. It's a big chain with a home town feel. The way this place operates is smooth, our hostess sat us quickly and got our drinks ordered right away. The waitress brought us the drinks and had our food ordered within 5 minutes of walking through the door. The overall cleanliness is excellent the food was well made and tasted excellent. To be honest I think I may have just the best tasting pancakes I've ever eaten. They were consistent and delicious. The way the crew works together is amazing. I think we had every person in the place stop by our table and check on us. This place deserves more then 2& 1/2 stars . They're customer service alone is 5 stars. Keep on driving. First thing wrong: gatepost knocked over and bent.. No effort to move it out of the way... Second: broken handle on entry door.. Third: hot water in bathroom nearly burned me just turning faucet on.. Fourth: No paper towels in the bathroom.. Fifth: bathroom smells like a truck stop... Sixth: chairs missing around tables in dining area. All this is before I got my food! The ceiling vents are BLACK with the exception of a white Diamond square in the center. I don't like writing negative reviews but this Dennys needs some help. The food was decent, I had the grilled bourbon chicken.. They were out of broccoli (how does that happen?!?!?!) so I had to substitute corn so I had some questions jack cheese over it.. Very good combination! We try to plan our trips thru Tehachapi, CA so we can eat at Denny's. We do eat at Denney's as we travel from time-to-time, we have had so-so experiences at various Denny's, some good, some, well you know. We stopped at this Denny's this morning for breakfast, what a wonderful experience! We were served by a wonderful young lady by the name of Griselda, what a delight, very efficient, attentive, with a cute sense of humor, our order was perfect! This Denny's was very spacious and clean, my compliments to the manager and every member of the staff that we had contact plus the cook, they were all GREAT!!! AND THE COFFEE WAS SO TASTY, not the mediocre coffee served in every other Denny's I've been in. BROVO and keep up the good work. Great food, service and coffee. read more

I have to start by saying that I used to work across the street and ate here on a regular basis and never had any issues. The wait staff and management seem to be on the ball and the food was just regular Denny's food, nothing remarkable nothing terrible. Today my sister and I went in there for breakfast after not seeing each other for a few weeks, and within an hour of leaving the restaurant both of us were sick, even thougb we seperated after the restaurant. The manager of the restaurant was called by both of us and all he could say was sorry, he kept telling uz his restaurant was clean and ge gad an A rating!! We both had the Grand Slam special, she had bacon I had sausage, and pancakes with water and coffee, so I'm assuming it was the eggs. The manager didn't want to hear anything about it, didn't need any details, just said sorry. Well, I'm sorry too, there are other places to eat in this town and I will be patronizing them from now on. Things happen, people get food poisoning in the best of restaurants, but at least have some compassion and decency, HE is the reason I wont be returning - not super nasty, just uncaring, rude and defensive. Three of us returning to the Bay Area from LV decided to have a late lunch. Our waitress was Monica. Not only did we get superb service but the food was pretty good. If it were not for Monica the review would probably be 3 to 4 stars which is still good. Everyone working there seemed to be very pleasant. Give them a try...previous reviews are tough. read more

Add to this an unfriendly, apathetic staff with a penchant for utterly ignoring the details of your order and then forgetting your existence so that you have to pester them to get your bill (which by this point you aren't too excited about having to pay), and you've got Denny's of Tehachapi. I ordered quesadilla the other day and there was hardly any meat and and they used sliced American cheese not even graded, they used sandwich cheese.. It was gross and disgusting. I can add a dusting of salt to my fries near those empty fields around our restaurant where the local wind farm is reflected by walls, crew, and drivers with keen interest on whatever privilege serves as rural life or hotspot, destinations or wolf cry. Our thoughts on ice cream aren't so natural although many flavors realized withhold the recent moments as treats over drinks under noise and confusion. Dreams along for every trip get less bitter until good taste is probable during my cold. Risks this diner has for its sharp performance must eventually be their final shots but at least mom's club sandwich is eaten with a different toasted quality than what my breakfast sandwich is sampled of. Venturing off at this rural location next to Shell can be appealing if nature around us is only possessed on succeeding and beautiful levels, so it's a complete package. Breakfast needs its respect. Goodies on radio must try appeal wherever a better mind doesn't need error. Let's just start with saying the service was terrible. It took 15 minutes just to get drinks. We sat in the restaurant for an hour and the table next to us was dirty the entire time. We ordered two shakes and it took about 25 minutes before we even got them. The servers were speaking rudely to there host as well as they were speaking rudely to there cooks. We got the food and it was cold and and we watched the food sit in the window for a little while before it was taken. The wings were suppose to be an appetizer and they were brought out at the same time as the food. They were loudly cussing where everyone could hear what was going on. They also did not attend to the customers barley and when I asked for a side of ranch the server breathed loudly like it was an inconvenience for her. 10/10 would never go back. It was honestly a terrible experience all together. There was people constantly waiting to be sat but all the tables were dirty and no one was cleaning them. Usually very good food and good service, but last last week when the four of us had dinner it was horrible. Food was cold those little skinny fries, double cheeze burgers and grilled chicken all cold. Wife had mex pizza and chilli cheeze nachos, were great and hot. The waitress took the cold food back and reheated but it was terrible cheeze was dried up meat was dried up, the chicken was still cold. The waitress said they could reheat again but I felt it was a loosing battle, the waitress said "THE COOKS WOULDN'T SPIT IN IT". Denny's is Denny's, all over America. If you want solid, dependable food, day or night, come to Denny's. My favorite dish is the Bourbon Bacon Burger. It is tasty and the toppings are fresh. Mostly their food is the hallmark of average. Not horrible and not exciting. Straight down the middle, a hearty fare for the working troops - we often see uniformed people come in en masse, and it's a good place to bring a large crowd. I swear their stake tasted just like their pot roast, like they used the same seasoning on both. The mash potatoes are dressed with the most bland brown gravy. My elderly parents loved it. So maybe that is their prime demographic. Maybe I will give Denny's more stars when I am older. read more

I am very disappointed with the service! We ordered our food I said I wanted over medium then I specified I want to whites done please. Everyone gets their order mine came out last. They were scrambled eggs. I told her I didn't order these and she took them back. We waited a good 15 minutes as all the people were done eating in my group my eggs finally came out. The whites weren't even close to being done they were so runny. They then charged me for the food I never got to eat. I had to go up to the waitress and tell her I was not paying for the food I never got and wanted to talk with the manager. I constantly became disappointed with this Dennys. When I first opened my menu, there was some kind of cream simmered on both pages. Then I reach my fork, it wasn't only not clean, but had some kind of green stuff attached to it. However, I honestly didn't get to me, but I added it up when I finally say my pancakes. I ordered their special plate, featuring the movie, Independence Day. Their pancakes are suppose to be blueberry, with all this cream cheese icing drizzled on top with strawberries and whip cream. When I got the actually pancakes, I ate some and got mad instantly, because the pancake in the bottom wasn't blueberry, it was just plain pancake hidden beneath a blueberry pancake. The sad thing was, the whole delivery wasn't accurate. The drizzle is the smallest and the most thin drizzle, the blue berries nor the strawberries were fresh, and their false advertisement of the plate. Also, service is just alright and I'm pretty sure that they know their Dennys sucks. This is a sad face to my day. P.S. I'm writing a mixed review. We went to Denny's the week before Christmas to get their pot roast. We noticed the new skillet dinners, and tried them. I had the grilled chicken breast with sweet bourbon sauce. It came our sizzling hot, and from the first bite to the last it was one of the best meals I've ever had in Tehachapi. The chef was spot on with the seasoning. Looking forward to repeating that experience, we went again this last Tuesday. It was like night and day. We both ordered the steak skewer with sweet bourbon sauce. We both had to send it back, not once, but twice! What a disappointment, it came out almost warm. The seasoning was completely lacking, the sauce was not tasty, just overly sweet and tasted like bottled sauce from the store. The potatoes were barely warm inside and not seasoned. The veggies were just meh. What a shame. At the cash register, the cashier asked us how everything was and we told her how horribly disappointed we were and how mad the meal was. Her reply? I've been going to this diner since it has opened. It started out great food, great service but since then it's been sliding down hill in quality and service. They have a knack of getting your order wrong and leaving you sit there with half of your meal sitting in front of you getting cold, while they try and get the right toast toasted or cook your food as you ordered. Yes the cook or cooks never fail to botch the order. The manager is always apologetic and willing to make it right after your whole experience has been ruined and you're hotter than fish grease. Now they have finally remodeled it and raised prices BUT same 'ol, same 'ol on service and quality. This has been happening almost every time we go in and that is why I finally decided to Yelp about it. Service was non existent. Not once did anyone come bye to see how I was doing or if I needed anything else. The only time the waitress came bye was to drop off the check. I was debating how much of a tip I would leave because I usually over tip for good service,but this time I had horrible service, so I decided to go with 18%. But when I went to pay my bill the manager running the register just held his hand out without so much as smile or greeting, or a how was everything. I was waiting for the person that was in front of me to finish her transaction because she was an elderly lady that was using a cane, and I told the manager that I was waiting to approach the podium, which then made it seem like I was trying to rush this lady along, so she apologized to me and I told her to take her time and she was ok and that really made me feel like crap because she thought I was trying to rush her. When in reality it was the manager that was trying to rush both of us. So I decided that this would be the first time in my life that I would not leave a tip.
