This was the worst experience I have ever had with a healthcare provider. I signed a contract with them, and the terms were completely disregarded. Billing was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. A dental bridge was placed on June 10, 2025, and it broke on October 30, 2025 -- after only 3.5 months. When I contacted the office about repairing it, they refused to fix it and instead demanded additional payment. What makes this worse is that they never properly billed my insurance company before attempting to charge me. I was told my money would be refunded and that the insurance claim would be reversed, but none of that has happened. I have sent multiple emails and made repeated phone calls, only to be told the same thing: "Call corporate." However, they refuse to provide a corporate phone number. As of today: I have not received my refund. The insurance company has not received a reversal. No one is taking responsibility. Extremely unprofessional, poor billing practices, and zero accountability. I would not recommend this office to anyone. would have rated it a zero but not an option read more

Place is full of scam artist, they talk you into services and products and when it comes to getting the product delivered they go quiet and can not get anyone on the phone to get help. when i charged it back on my credit card they just sent me an invoice for it and added it to my bill. Friendly staff but they upsell you services, cleanings and dental work you may not need. They also like to over-bill you and send you to collections even after giving you a "zero" balance statement. We are retired and have small Medicare benefits to pay for our dental. I feel this is fraudulent company. They Took our Medicare money and didn't do the work. I can prove this. I was promised in person by Dr. trakakis that we would get a refund, but after many hours of them Dodging our phones calls we got no where. Also a tooth had to be redone by another dentist because of poor quality work. Costing us thousands more. I want to start out by saying everyone here is super friendly and kind, but the dental staff may either be inexperienced or unethical. My first cleaning they told me I had a cavity and had gingivitis which needed further treatment. I went in to get the cavity filled later that month, and once I got there, they re-examined the X-rays and claimed I didn't actually have a cavity and let me leave free of charge. As for the gingivitis treatment, I continued going to get regular cleanings and additional treatments not covered by insurance. After 4 cleanings, multiple treatments, and my persistent at-home dental care, they claimed by gums have not improved, and I now have 4 small cavities. They quoted me over 1k for the additional treatment. I decided to go back to my prior dentist in my hometown for a second opinion. After a quick look at my mouth and recent X-rays, he claimed I have healthy gums and no cavities. I'm not an expert, but the dentists here seem to push additional treatments and procedures that are not needed. Everyone is very kind and do give very detailed outlines for the estimated cost of treatments which is much appreciated, but I would seek a second opinion from another dentist if they claim you have dental problems that don't seem obvious. read more

Dr. Jill is a tremendously nice person, but called alarm rightfully on some of my old cavities. No problem, lets get those updated. The first issue was when my insurance didn't cover ceramic filings - riverwalk doesn't offer anything else and didn't tell me until AFTER - which cost me 100s out of pocket. I then learned they dropped my insurance in 2023, yet no one told me until AFTER I received treatment. But the topper is when it was determined that i needed a re-treatment on a rootcanal. Dr Jill then took my crown off, reviewed the situation and sent me to a specialist. At the specialist, he didn't even have to do more than look before he told me it was a cist, nothing to do with the root canal - he confirmed on xray. Dr Jill told me i either needed a retreatment of the root canal or an implant and said it was only one of those two. The specialist wasn't sure why because what I had was extremely common. The problem was she removed the crown, charged me $250 to put a temporary on and then quoted me $2,100 for a replacement. When I called to say I was misdiagnosed, she stood by her view of the situation despite the fact she got it wrong. I was thinking she'd offer something off on the rootcanal for the issue, but she did not. At that point, I decided to leave as it felt like a place that was only after money. I went to a new dentist, who was shocked to see the misdiagnosis and even more suprised a high priced dentist did not have the equipment to verify it wasn't a cist (something clear as day with the right equipment). But get this, a temporary crown and entire new crown at this new dentist? $700!!! I don't know if Riverwalk has its high overhead with its fancy downtown office, but for me it felt like money was all that mattered. While Dr Jill is nice, the staff is not as nice, does not return phone calls (particularly around billing) and when i challenged the misdiagnosis that cost me thousands (if i would've gone back to riverwalk!), all of a sudden the doctor wouldn't talk to me and I could only talk to staff. There are TONS of great dentists in Naperville, avoid this place. Two stars for Dr Jill being a nice person, everything else 1 star. read more

They just want your money,don't do a cleaning on your appointment instead just do x-rays and won't even schedule you for cleaning. Stay away from this place!!! I was, of course, a little skeptical about going to any dental office inside of the mall. I was pleasantly surprised. The front desk staff, while not overly friendly, were efficient and totally knew what they were doing. I have gone to about 6 appointments there, and have always been brought back to have my work done within 5 minutes of arrival. Not only that, but they showed me all of the paperwork for every single procedure, and how much my insurance would pay BEFORE the procedures were done. The hygienist was AMAZING. It was my first time back to the dentist after 8 years of avoiding it, and she was very kind and explained everything that needed to be done clearly (I have periodontal disease). She also made sure I was as comfortable as I could be while she did the scaling/planing of my gums- which is not fun, but ended up being fine because she knew what she was doing. The dentist, Dr. Trakakis, is fantastic. He's such a pro. Very warm and funny, but still professional. I had 14 cavities (!!), a root canal/crown, and two wisdom teeth pulled. Every single one of the procedures went quickly, and without a hitch. I was shocked at how fast the tooth extraction went - and I had no swelling or bad pain. He knows what he's doing. Fox Valley Dentalworks doesn't have fancy virtual reality glasses or anything, you don't watch movies or listen to music on headphones. You just sit in the chair, and the work is done quickly and efficiently. I appreciate that. I guess the thing that could be improved upon is the office itself - it needs a bit of an update. -All fluorescent lighting, some of the tiles in the ceiling need replacing, and the chairs are very well-used. They probably do a pretty high-volume business, being at the mall. But those very minor things seem silly to complain about, because the staff is so great. read more

This is the worst experience I had with a dentist on 10/30/2021. Dentist George Trakakis stick a needle on me before the area was numbed, which cause me extreme pain and I screamed. After I told him, I was in pain. He started to question back if I have ever done a filling before. Yes, of course, I had, many times and this is the first time I was in such pain. After I expressed my feeling, he told me he won't treat me today and he won't treat me in the future. I have never seen a dentist so unprofessional. When I was in pain, he didn't provide the solution to fix the issue but rather took it personal and turned me down as a patient. Please try to avoid this dentist. 0 star if I can. read more

I went to Dr. Dhaval Shah last week and he was perfect! I usually hate going to dentists (and am very bad at going every 6 months), so I was scared to go. My friend also went there and recommended him to me, so I specifically asked for him by name. Dr. Shah explained things very well and was VERY friendly. I can't say enough good things about this office - the staff, Dr. Trakakis. Every time I have been in there it was for an emergency. A lack of preparation on my part. But I am treated as any other customer who goes to the dentist regularly like you are supposed to. The front staff is friendly, personable, and treat everyone like an individual with a different situation, a different story, and they genuinely care about the best options for you regarding scheduling, financing, and creating game plans for long term assistance. Dr. Trakakis is the only dentist I have ever truly trusted. He gives sound advice, based off of your personal needs - not what will ring up the highest bill. He never makes you feel rushed, and shows genuine compassion for his patients in the chair. I have been blown away by his demeanor, humor, and ability to make otherwise uncomfortable visits as painless as possible. I didn't expect this kind of service from a "chain" dentists office. As I have seen numerous private practices that show half the amount of attention and care to their patients as this location does. I will go here forever, and can't thank the staff enough for everything they have done for me personally. If you are looking for a trustworthy dentists office for you, your family, your kids - don't shy away because it's located in a Sears. It is top notch customer service. Called and left a message for Office Manger to call me back, 4 days later and I'm still waiting. I was over charged. I took my 3 minor children in for just an annual cleaning and was charged for so much more. Office staff took minors in the back and did a full series of xrays without my knowledge, while I filled out forms, AND decided to add fluoride treatment without my consent knowing it wasn't covered under insurance. read more

At first I was concerned because of it being so big and multiple locations. I had nothing to be concerned about. The tech and doctor were wonderful. Because of it's size they are a one stop shop. I will be needing oral surgery and the surgeon was able to stop in and consult so I did not have to come back. Everyone that I dealt with was very nice and friendly. read more

This is a worst dental experience I ever have. My appointment is for tooth cleaning, but when I got there, they said that they have to do a complete set of x-ray first. After that they said they can not do a tooth cleaning unless I do a gum treatment. Anyway, they just want to do more procedures and charge more. My daughter has been coming to this Dentalworks for the last 4 /5 years. When she was getting the retainers we were told that if we buy two it will economically prudent as kids misplace or lose retainers. So we ordered 2. Luckily my daughter never lost the first one. But DentalWorks never notified us that the 2nd one is ready for pickup. My daughter is getting a different retainer now as her teeth shape has changed a bit. When I enquired about the missing 2nd retainer, they first said it was our fault that we didn't pick it up. When I told them that we were never notified that it's ready for pickup, she said that we don't need it anymore as my daughters teeth shape has changed. But no refund no discount, not even an apology. read more

They explained everything from the treatment to the billing options so I felt confident that I knew they were doing the right thing. Highly recommend them!! I went in there in December with an extreme toothache. The tooth needed to be extracted and the dentist wanted to build up my gums. The dentist had the office personnel come back and give me an estimate of the charges to which they said with my insurance I should only have to pay $280. That was fine I proceeded that day and paid the $280 and then received a bill for $679 a month later in the mail. Then thought I would give them one more chance and went in yesterday with another tooth issue. They proceeded to try to get me full x-rays and wanted to set me up on a gum cleaning procedure including laser. I was not in there for any of that and plus I was afraid I would probably end up owing them thousands after the fact even though their estimate doesn't say that. I have never gotten up from a dentist chair and walked out but I did here. Proceed with caution if you go here, they will try to sell you every dental procedure under the sun and give you an estimate that is not true and you will end up paying 3-4 times that estimate after the fact. read more

Visited Dr. Andrew Chung at Dentalworks. Had an infected tooth that my dentist had referred to an oral surgeon to be pulled out. They took an xray of the tooth and tried to sell me some implants. When I said no, they insisted they had to get a Full-Mouth X-ray before they can pull the tooth out. You don't need to be a dentist to know that this is absolutely unnecessary and wasteful. Tried to resist but they took advantage of the pain I was in. They are thieves pure and simple. read more

Do not go here! I took my 7 year old here as this was a place that accepted our insurance and would do metal fillings. I didn't want to spend $600 on 4 small white fillings in our daughter's baby teeth. I would only be using this office for these fillings and would continue using our regular dentist for all cleanings and other dental care. Dr. Trakakis put in the four metal fillings ( two top and two bottom) and within a month the top two fell out. I reluctantly gave Dr. Trakakis a second chance to do the fillings. The second time, the fillings lasted less than 6 months. I refused to let Dr. Trakakis touch my duaghter's teeth again. Our regular dentist has fixed Dr. Trakakis' botched dental work. Please take care of yourself and children and DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!!!!!! read more

The service was good. The dentists were caring, personable and professional. The billing is horrific. I'm a manager for a health plan and know my policy. I was being billed at the rate they felt was reasonable but it was thousands of dollars above the contracted rate. I am taking this up with the Illinois Insurance Commission. Also they gave my daughter very expensive panoramic x-rays w/o asking. She already had those. Finally, she was billed as an adult not a child. and the billing person harrassed me until I called the national billing office. read more

If I could have given zero stars I probably would have. The reasons I was never willing to trust a dental office that was part of a major corporation are all basically here. My fiance and I have different dentists; he has insurance and I don't. Long story short, we ended up coming here the first time because he had a tooth that would either need a lot of money's worth of work to save, or to be pulled, and we were going with the latter. The office itself is nothing impressive. The waiting area is open, somewhat dated looking. The 'rooms', which aren't rooms at all, aren't even enough to be considered cubicles. If you were to whisper while sitting in one, people three sections down would still here you. The chairs have seen much better days. Dr. Trakakis struck me as rather impersonal, mechanical in what he did. During the first visit to get the tooth pulled I was sitting in the waiting room and could hear my fiance screaming because the Novocaine hadn't been given enough time to take full effect. He was in a fair amount of pain for a time after that. Our next visit was to get one of his wisdom teeth pulled. I happened to look at the xray while I was sitting back there with him and noticed the position of his other wisdom teeth. By the time we left after that, I knew more about the work he would need done from having talked with my own dentist about my teeth than what had been explained to us while we were here. This visit was when I made a decision I wish I could take back. My fiance had a root canal that had never been properly crowned afterwards. So we decided to have that fixed as well. I wish I had been surprised that for all the money I feel this place makes, they had not invested into purchasing a machine to the make their own crowns right in the office. So we had this tooth built up, and a temporary put on. While we were there I paid in advance for everything his insurance wouldn't cover, including everything for the visit to put the permanent crown on. BIG MISTAKE. I was at work the day he went to have the permanent crown on, and the call I got afterwards made me absolutely furious. He had been having a slight achy feeling from the tooth for a few days before this appointment anyways, and was in pain that day as well. He told the assistant that he was in pain while she had been prodding around the tooth. She went to go get the dentist who my fiance also told that he was in pain. Trakakis did not even offer to give him Novocaine for the pain, which in some offices is customary whether the person is in pain or not, but went right in and popped the temporary off. My fiance admittedly -almost- swore, but instead used a sort of abbreviated form (like saying 'bs' instead of the actual thing) because, quite simply, it hurt. At this point he was threatened to be thrown out of the office, but knowing I had paid he held his tongue till the work was done. And was still given nothing upon leaving to help with the pain. It couldn't have been any clearer to me that all they want here is your money. After that your just a body they want to quickly whisk in and out without second thought. It's not even like money would have been an issue for a shot of Novocaine; our insurance would've covered it. And I had even let out a few choice words in front of both Trakakis and an assistant at one of our prior visits when talking about how much of a wimp I am about surgical procedures. So why was this time so different when my fiance hadn't even actually sworn? Yes, it will cost you a slight bit more to go to a privately owned office, but for your own sake, DO SO. Paying a little more will be well worth being treated like a human being. read more

Poor is the only category that fits. My brother has a very limited dental insurance and wanted to keep his out of pocket expense to a minimum. Before his first visit, the office staff talked to his insurance company. His insurance company shared their payment schedules with the office staff and after exchanging a few faxes, the office staff concluded that his visit was fully covered. However, when the claim was submitted, the entire visit was disallowed. The office says that they made a mistake but that my brother must still pay for the entire visit. Since the procedure was disallowed, the office has now decided to instead raise their charges and wants to charge a full off-the-street rate (three times the R&C). My brother may have no choice but to take his grievance through an attorney. Buyer beware! read more

Terrible punctuality. Went in for a pre scheduled cleaning and had to wait for over an hour. Then when I asked when they would be ready the receptionist gave me an attitude. Another 20min later I asked again, so they put me in the dental chair...but then the assistant told me it would be another 15-30min wait...so I canceled and left. This seems to happen often there and they have no consideration for people's time. Do yourself a favor and find a better place, I did. read more

This used to be a nice one when we started probably 8/9 years ago. We didn't realize that this dentistry is now part of larger corporation and they didn't care about their patients other than your money. My kids have been seen regularly and while discussing about removal of his wisdom tooth, we were recommended to speak to an Oral Surgeon. The oral surgeon (at the same location) found a serious problem and immediately recommended surgery. As I discussed with him the details, he said that this tooth has been there since more than a year an should have been found out much earlier since it shows up in the x-ray. When we wanted to discuss with the dentist, we realized that the oral surgeon was no longer part of the dentistry. The dentist, staff and the new manager were totally non-cooperative and pretty much denied any wrong-doing. Copies of the x-rays show clearly that this problem should have been found much earlier and could have saved us (and the insurance) thousands of dollars. The manager even suggested (privately) that the only way to discuss any compensation would be thru legal means. So, with a heavy heart, we finally decided to say goodbye to this location and find someone who care about their patients. read more
