The hygeinst and Dr. Chen were both great with education+ answered any questions I had as a parent without feeling rushed/made to feel stupid. I loved how even at 1 he was able to get a toy (he chose a blue rubber duckyl to add to his rubber toy collection. I am looking forward to his next visit in 6 months! I already had a mom ask where I went after today and she called to make an appointment too. Although this was only my first appointment, I can tell they aren't pushy with xrays or fluoride treatments and respect if parents do decline. If they took adults, I would totally switch and go there! I highly recommend choosing Dentistry for Kids for your children! NOTE: I have a background in healthcare so I understand why offices do this for sanitary/health protocals now, but for other first time moms who may not have visited a pediatric dentist yet, post covid there have not been any magazines, toys, etc in dental waiting rooms(that Ive noticed) in general. This place is AH-MAZING! I was referred here from a friend of mine that works in the dental field. The first thing I liked was that I called and they were in a meeting so I left a voicemail. They actually called me back!! I know that doesn't seem like much, but most businesses ignore the voicemail. When we arrived I already felt comfortable with the nice front desk staff and my son loved the iPads in the waiting room (of course). Since my son was a new patient, they gave him (and me) a tour and explained what every room was for, etc. At our previous dentist I was not allowed back with my son. So this was awesome for me! I felt totally at ease and my son was loving this. Our assistant Joana was very good with all of my son's questions and made him feel good. He even told her he was going to give her a 5 star review, lol! He kept saying how good this office was compared to our laShe was extremely thorough on explaining the xrays, why something could be wrong, what he needed to focus more on, etc. Then we met Dr. Molina. What is cute about the office is the assistants and the dentist refer to each other as "friends" which I like. I think that makes the kids trust each employee as well as makes the parent feel the good vibe in the office! Dr. Molina is very sweet!!! She kept telling my son how he's a good big boy. My son needs some fillings and she was very thoughtful in regards to the procedure and treatment. The cutest thing ever was that Joana sent my son a card in the mail! It was personally handwritten by her telling him it was a pleasure to meet him and to make sure he's brushing properly to get rid of those sugar bugs! It was the cutest thing!! I LOVE this place! Taking children to the dentist can be stressful and worry-some. But at Dentistry for Kids it's the totally opposite. As a parent, I'm so impressed by the doctors and staff. My girls love going to the dentist! Why you ask? The main reason is because Dr. Molina and Dr. Wilkerson and their staff are always so respectful, polite and really do a great job keeping kids comfortable during their appointments. They also do a great job in explaining any required procedures and the costs. We have bumped into Dr. Molina around town and she never hesitates to answer any questions we have outside visits. They also hosts quite a few events for their patients throughout the year -pics with Easter bunny, pics with Santa, Fall pumpkin patch just to name a few. Okay! Finally it is Jason first dentist appointment! We couldn't get his teeth get checked out at early age as supposed to is because he was so scared and refused to go to dentist ... Every time we tried to take him to the densest office in Orange County, he would throw a temper... Eventually we gave up! This time he asked me to take him to see a dentist because he found out he got a shark teeth( Permanente teeth came out behind the old teeth even before the old teeth fell off!) also he found out his classmate and friend Brielle went dentists for kids to have her teeth check out! Our appointment was 11:00 am . We arrived just about time. We sat in the lobby for 5 mins. Then we had been called to get inside. Totally We spent about one and half hr in the office since he got his full month clean,X-ray, cavities check... Jason had fun!! Everyone in the office is so nice, polite, professional and friendly!! I really can't complain this place was great! I called the day before to schedule an appointment for my daughter for her first dental visit and they had an opening available the next day. I filled out the information online so when I came in all they had to do was scan my insurance card which is very convenient as a parent! The waiting area has plenty of seating with toys and stationary iPads for the older kids. They have a tv playing movies as well. 90% of the seating allows you to see the front door to keep track of your little ones! I am very pleased due to the staff and their friendliness as well as their ability to keep the children comfortable. Karina was VERY informative and helpful with any questions I had and great with my child. Dr Molina is so sweet and did an amazing job. The set up of the office is nice because if your child takes off they really can't go anywhere. They would be caught by the office staff before they could het out the door and the open seating area makes it nice for kids to see others doing the same thing. They have private rooms too for more shy children. The options are very nice to accommodate each child and their needs. My kiddo was happy even before the balloons and prizes! Knowing this place was designed for kids, I shouldn't be surprised at how well equipped their office is, but it is PERFECT for kids! They have a great system down, especially for young kids (mine are 5 1/2 and 4). They have 3 sinks of different sizes where they start off by having the kids eat those little pills that show all of the plaque. Then, the kids brush their teeth and the dental hygeniest helps them out and gives them some guidance on how it should be done. They take x-rays, clean up their teeth, etc. All the while, they make it a fun experience for the kids! We talked with Dr. Zeff and she helped to educate us on what we need to do to make sure our kids have healthy teeth. She is very easy to talk to and has a style of educating you without making you feel inept. That's a huge plus! And, she is all about keeping things positive - seeing her, my kids will NEVER fear the dentist! And, if their teeth end up close to as nice as hers, I'll be quite happy. :) At the end, the kids get a packet with a new toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. and coins for the toy machines in the lobby. We've been taking our three kids here for over a year, and it's been a fantastic experience each time. They are great about scheduling around our family's needs and getting everyone in at the same time. I have been using Yelp a lot more especially when deciding the important things like my daughters first dentist. I have to say the reviews on here did not disappoint. We just left her very first appointment and it went better than what i thought it would. We saw Johana ,the dental assistant and from the moment we walked in she was welcoming, fun, sweet and ready to make this appointment great. We had a fun tour around the office, got to pick out a big girl tooth brush, saw the X-ray machine, and then our room. She sang to my daughter while explaining how she will count her teeth on the baby she brought in. She had her put gloves on and help count and let her see the fun dentist tools. My daughter was very nervous and she was very understanding of that. There was no forcing or having to be demanding to do things. She said it best that it was like the first date while testing the waters. We had Dr. Emily Whipple and she was FANTASTIC! Super quick in the exam. Explained everything so well to us, made us feel so welcomed and well taken care of. My little thought it was so much fun she had a goodie bag, a toy, a sticker and a balloon at the end of the appointment. The entire experience was great, and even though my little one was nervous, we still left on great terms and we got in the car the first thing she said was "i did it!!!! I saw teeth doctor"!! This office is amazing and has made my son love going to the dentist! He is 5 and actually looks forward to going to the dentist every 6 months (unlike me haha). Dr. Whipple and the entire staff are so upbeat, energetic and wonderful with children. They give out toys and a lot of praise, which goes a long way with the little guys. Great at making kids fill comfortable with the dentist. My son need to have some sealant placed on some back teeth due to first signs of cavities and the process was lengthy for a 10 year old. We've been going to Dentistry for Kids for almost 9 years and I've always trusted their advice- even if it included thousands of dollars worth of work. This last time, they told me that my child needed $1400 worth of work. Instead of doing the work there, I opted to get a second opinion because of the cost of treatment and also the extent. The next dentist we went to started out saying that they had a lot of respect for the dentists at Dentistry for Kids, but... My child did not need even half of the work suggested. I was also told that my second child had formation of cavities and that I need to do these things, buy this paste, maybe schedule these procedures. After learning that my first child didn't need the work, I decided to get a second opinion for my other child. Turns out, they don't have even formation of cavities and their mouth looks great at this time. Two separate doctors, both rebutting the information given by DFK. Upon speaking to my co-workers today, I found two others who have had similar experiences with DFK and had also opted to seek second opinions and new permanent offices. The staff and doctors are nice, but I don't trust much of what they say. I will not be returning with my children. read more

We take our daughter and son to dentistry for kids. We have a 5 year old daughter and a 3 year old son. My daughter's teeth are fine but my son's front 4 teeth needed help. When they first came out they were yellow and kept deteriorating from there. We saw Dr. Wilkerson our first visit. He advised us that my son's teeth would have to be "wiggled" eventually and show us signs to look for to make sure a infection didn't develop. They also gave us a paste to put on both of their teeth called mi paste. Suddenly son started complaining that front teeth were hurting. I wasn't sure if he hit them on something or if it was a infection setting in. I called the office and they got him on a antibiotic immediately. They also set up a appointment to check them out just in case. They warned me over the phone that the teeth would most likely have to be pulled and what to expect. They were also able to get my daughter in at the same time for a check up which is very convenient being that we live 2 hours away. The warned us that they would have to take him back into a room and put him on nitrous oxide and that it could be a little of a traumatic experiance. I have a very big fear of dentist so I was nervous the whole weekend. When we got to the office we were immediately taken back. They did x-rays for both of the kids then did a cleaning. Dr. Molina then looked at his x-rays and said the 3 of his teeth would have to be pulled but the 4th she could do a white filling in. They took him back to the room to get him used to it and to get him ready for the procedure. I went back a few minutes later and he was already under the nitrous and was very comfortable and was trying to talk to the Dr. And her assistant the whole time. Even when he was getting the numbing shots and getting the teeth pulled he was very comftable. I don't even think he noticed anything was going on beside she was looking in his mouth. They were so gentle with him and he loved everyone there. After the procedure they both got to pick something out of a prize drawer and got 2 stickers and 2 tokens for the waiting room. I have never seen a dentist or doctors office take be so kind, gentle or understanding of their patients. If I had a dentist like that when I was younger I wouldn't be so scared of the dentist. The procedure was 4 days ago and my son is still talking about "his dentist". I highly recommend them for anyone who needs a pediatric dentist! read more

We brought our son to Dentistry for Kids in October of 2013, after having a not so favorable experience in prior years with another dental practice that left my son afraid, and not wanting to go to the dentist. We were referred to this practice by our family dentist Dr. Atencio. From the first phone call to Dentistry for Kids, I knew that it was going to be a completely different experience for our family. On our first visit, we were brought back right on time (which doesn't happen very often with any Dr.'s offices in my experience). My son was very nervous. Leah brought us back and took the time to get to know my son and made him feel comfortable before doing anything. She was so kind, patient, knowledgeable, and understanding with him. She took her time and explained everything to us. In no time, our son was feeling comfortable. After Leah did his x-rays and cleaning, he was seen by Dr. Wilkerson. Dr. Wilkerson was also very kind and patient. Unfortunately, he had a couple fillings, and bad tooth that was going to need to be extracted (or "wiggled" as everyone in the office called it). Everyone was so careful about how they worded the procedures that needed to be done as to not to frighten my son. After the exam, we were sent to the back to check-out and go over financials. We were sat down with Kim, who was also very friendly and kind. My son was given tokens to redeem a prize from the prize tower, and a balloon. He walked out all smiles, he even said in the car on the way home "Mom I like it there, I want to go back to that dentist!" We even received two hand written thank you cards from their office. One from Dr. Wilkerson, and one from Leah. We had to schedule another appointment to have the work done on my son's teeth. Unfortunately, in between our initial appointment and the treatment appointment, my son developed an infection in his bad tooth. I called the office, again, between Krysi and Johana, they were so friendly and helpful, they notified Dr. Wilkerson, and a prescription for an antibiotic was called in immediately. After that antibiotic was completed, my son started developing pain again, at which point we called the office and they got an appointment scheduled for us immediately to have him seen. When we took him in this time, we saw Dr. Molina. She made my son feel comfortable immediately. She explained to us that rather pull the tooth while he was actively in pain, she wanted to put him on another antibiotic and wait to do the "wiggle" until the infection was gone, just to make sure that there was less chance of him experiencing any pain when the tooth was pulled. (Again, another example of how they sincerely care about children). Needless to say, after another round of antibiotics, it was finally time to have the tooth removed. Having a bit of dental fear myself (which of course I hide from him), I was extremely nervous about the procedure. When Sophia came in the room to get him (again right on time) he was all smiles and ready to go. She asked my son if he wanted to go in by himself, but he elected to have me go with him, which she gladly obliged to. Sophia was so kind to both of us and explained everything to him from the moment we walked into the room. She gave him points for being so good, and showed him all of the tools they were going to use and explained what they were going to do. She helped ease my nerves as well. What I thought was going to be a traumatic experience for both of us, was anything but. I was literally shocked at how well he did and how great Sophia and Dr. Wilkerson were with him. He had no idea that they had even pulled the tooth. When he was done, Dr. Wilkerson explained to him that while he was measuring that painful tooth, it simply fell out. :) I cannot put in to words the sense of relief I had when this procedure was over. I am beyond impressed with EVERYTHING and EVERYONE in this office. I have already been singing their praises and referring all of my friends who have children. The difference between their office and our prior experience is night and day. You can really tell that these guys truly care about children, and it is obvious in every aspect of their office. I literally cannot thank them all enough. They have renewed my faith in pediatric dentistry, and I look forward to bringing my children here in the years to come. read more

We bring our boys to see Dr. Wilkerson at DFK. They make the process so fun and educational that our boys don't even realize they're going to the dentist and even look forward to it. Today we had our first filling at DFK. I was a little nervous that the "fun factor" would have worn off given the filling required a shot for numbing. Everything went absolutely great. They do such a great job of making my kiddos feel comfortable, never scared or nervous that it ended up being a quick 30 minute procedure. Their entire staff is very welcoming and friendly, which makes it less scary for young kids like our daughter who is only a year old. Their office is located in a great location in South Reno with easily accessible parking. Their lobby area is spacious with a dedicated kids area to enjoy a movie while waiting. Johana met with us and explained in great detail what we could expect from this visit and future ones. She was great with our daughter, trying to introduce her to the different tools and sounds she will see when visiting. She took her time to give us information about what we could use to incorporate into our daily routine to help maintain good dental hygiene for our daughter. At the end of her first check up, they gave our daughter a toy and balloon to help put her at ease. A couple of weeks ago, I received a call from my son's after-school program that he had taken a fall and chipped one of his front teeth, which happens to be an adult tooth. My son was devastated (he's 8), and my husband and I felt horrible for him as well. It was a large portion of his tooth that was chipped. On top of it, we're new to the Reno area and had not established a new pediatric dentist for him or his younger brother yet, so not having an immediate answer on where we could take him, especially nearing the end of business hours (~4:30p), only added to the anxiety we were all feeling. I called my newly established dentist, and they recommended Dentistry for Kids, and we couldn't be more grateful they did. After speaking with their receptionist, and sending them pics from my phone, they told us to come in right away. We arrived at the office about ten minutes before closing and everyone from the staff to Dr. Molina was so welcoming, helpful and had no problem staying after hours to get our son taken care of. They immediately put us all at ease, even my 8 year old son with the chipped tooth! Dr. Molina had a way of speaking to him that made him so comfortable and relaxed in the dental chair, it was incredible to watch. I couldn't believe this was the same kid that had just been crying his eyes out for fear of no one being able to "fix" his tooth. After interacting with her and seeing how she was with our son, it was very obvious that she loves her job and children. My husband said she was a Godsend and we knew our son was in good hands. Dr. Molina took her time with bonding his tooth back together, and by the end, he looked great and was back to his normal, happy self. The entire time we were there, not once did we feel rushed or guilty for being the reason why she and a few of her staff were there so late. Instead, everyone was accommodating to our needs and our toddler as well, giving him toys to keep him occupied while brother was getting worked on. We kept thanking the staff for their hospitality, and many of them said how they have children too, and knew that they'd want the same thing done for them and their kids. It was such a great feeling to know what big hearts they have. The office setting itself is also great for children. There are puzzles, toys, books and a television for entertainment, and the staff even gave tokens to our boys to use in the toy machines in their lobby, which was a huge hit of course :) My husband and I couldn't be more happy with discovering this place (even though it wasn't under the best of circumstances) and now we know where we'll be taking our boys for their dental visits from now on. In fact, we already booked their next appointments! I should also mention, my son has received many compliments about how good his tooth looks which is proof that the quality of work performed by Dr. Molina matches her quality of care. read more

We love Dr. Molina! Both of my girls have a positive view of going to the dentist thanks to this office. They make it fun and it feels safe. My older daughter went there when we lived in Reno and now we drive in from Truckee for my second daughter's appointments! (They also have great patient appreciation events each year-we have been to the Aces game, Baby Animals Day at the farm and the movie this year!) read more
