We won't be going back. After being at this office for over 5 years it's time to move on. The office has zero consistency with staff or Dr. We showed up to our apt today and the entire staff is new and so is the Dr. (also they rescheduled us without asking) Worst visit ever! The "hygienist" have zero clue what they are doing and need to be trained again. My kids have never have their mouths bleed at an apt before. Todays was a total Blood bath and they both told me in hurt a lot. But the hygienist blamed my kids. Now let's talk about the Dr. with her "picture" ploy to fake dental needs. Staining on teeth does not need a sealant. And she 100% didn't show the X-ray as it would've showed no issue. We will never be back. read more

I hate having to write negative reviews about places but unfortunately in this case I think it's worth it so that future customers know what to expect. The previous dentist at this office up and left without informing their patients. This happened during the 6 months in between visits. When our appointment comes up the office is closed with no notice. The new dentist might be great but we will never know because the front office can't be bothered to pick up the phone or return phone calls. I'm extremely frustrated with this office's lack of communication and follow-through. It's been over three weeks, and I'm still waiting for a resolution. I initially booked the "multiple exams cleanings per year" dental plan for my 2 now 3-year-old before getting Medicaid. However, my daughter doesn't even allow anyone to look in her mouth properly, let alone get a cleaning. So essentially, I'm paying for toothbrushes and a brief exam. At my most recent visit, the receptionist asked if there were any insurance updates. I mentioned that I now have Medicaid (got it a couple of months after the first visit) and provided my card. She said my daughter's Medicaid status was "pending," even though they accept Medicaid. She told me to call the insurance provider. I did, and the insurance company confirmed my daughter is eligible and said the office can bill retroactively. When I called the office again, they told me the office manager was "out" until after the new year. The receptionist brushed it off, saying, "It's only the $100, right?" First, that's dismissive, and second, $100 is significant, especially considering my daughter isn't even receiving cleanings. Now, I've been trying to follow up and am getting nowhere. I'd give this place zero stars if I could. Went in earlier this week for my child's cleaning. The male dentist that was in didn't seem like he knew what he was doing and was fidgeting with all of the equipment as if it was his first day in the office. The tension between him and the hygienists was palpable. Not sure where the female dentist went that we saw 6 months ago, but she was so much better! My child left more scared than when he came in. My kids have been long time patients of this dental practice since day one. We love our fast but excellent check up and cleanings. Both my kids have always been scheduled together and were typically in and out within an hour tops. Never had an issue with billing or scheduling. This is a great practice with quality care. Today my kids had dental appointments and the visit went smooth. Office is so nice and quiet since all the kids from the County go back to school, lucky for us we're still on break and don't have school for some time! read more

If I could leave no stars we would. My son had an appt today for a checkup/cleaning just for these people to call us this morning to cancel again. What a joke this place has become. The first time we noticed that they had changed our time for the appt without even calling us, just a text confirming the appt. Tried to call and for some reason conveniently their office phone number and website are unavailable. Finally got a hold of them, to reschedule. Finally we have a rescheduled time and date. Today, we received a call 20 mins before our sons appt just for them to cancel again to reschedule for the same reason before, "the doctor called in sick so we have to reschedule again". Word of advice, you can find a better, responsive, and reliable dentistry for kids elsewhere, not this one anymore. What a big joke. read more

If I could give 0 I would. I'd avoid this place, there are too many other options to deal with this place. I had appointment for weeks and they called the day of the appointment about 3 hours before my child's appointment and said they are short staffed and had to reschedule. Fine, i rescheduled. On my rescheduled day, I left to arrive 15 mins early but the construction in front of the shopping center they are located at had all left turns closed and traffic was backed up having to wait for lights 3-4 times to get through. I called them 3 times with no answer to tell them I might be late. I arrived 10 minutes late and was rudely greeted and then told we would have to reschedule. I asked why they didn't tell new customers there was construction and you couldn't turn left into the shopping center and the ladies response was " I'm not the construction company". I told her it would have been good customer service to tell people so they could be on time since I spoke to them the day before. I asked to be seen bc they already rescheduled due to short staffing and the lady responded they were still short staffed. So really it came down to them being short staffed, so that's why they didn't answer their phone. Had they just answered and said they were short staffed it might of made it a little better or even called but there wasn't even anyone there being waited on so not sure why they couldn't answer the phone over a 15 minute time span. I'll use this as my sign that it's not a great place if they are short staffed so much, while I get staffing in todays world might not be easy, I've learned if it's a good place to work it can be done. With how rude the front lady was and unwilling to help, bc she didn't answer the phone ( but was sitting at the front when I arrived) and your employees are the face of your company, I'd recommend going to another place. I would HIGHLY suggest finding another kids dental office. The front staff of this facility are TERRIBLE! Especially the office manager Tara. We have been going to sierra kids for over 3 years but this last year the customer service has been extremely bad. I received a text msg saying my daughter's appointment was today at 9:30am we drove the 30 minutes to get to her appointment and to my surprise Tara tells me her appt is at 11:30. I show Tara the text and she responds "that's weird" then tells me if the next appt doesn't show they can get me back. Well of course the next appt came. She said unfortunately they wouldn't be able to see my child until 11:30 Tara didn't get out of her chair one time to see what she could do. Mind you I have 3 children and took the morning off to take my kid to her appointment. I have worked in Dr office settings for years and the first thing you do is get up and talk to the back staff to see what can be done if anything. She gave zero effort and gave zero sympathy. This is the second time this has happened!! The drs are great but dealing with the front staff isn't worth it. There are plenty of other facilities better than this. read more

You won't find a better dentist in Reno! As a mother of six I am very busy and convenience is key, and of course my children being comfortable. This office was able to fit 4 of my children in at the same time, it was a clean environment, and everyone was so exceptionally wonderful with all of my kids who range from the ages of 1 to 4! One of my children has a lot of medical problems, including Autism and being non-verbal, but they did incredible. No one got frustrated or overwhelmed with him which is a first and made such a huge difference for me and made us feel more welcome. Dr. Gray is such a kind hearted man and great with the children. The assistants & front office were just as kind and comforting to the kids! They are the dentists I wish I had when I was a child. read more

I wish that my experience was great as the other people have mentioned and referred. I brought my 18 month old for his first visit and was greeted by the friendliest front desk receptionist and the dental assistant. The girls were super nice and very patient. The assistant was patient with me and my son as we brushed his teeth together. As soon as the doctor came in, the whole energy changed. He didn't introduced himself to me, nor did speak "kid" to my son and wasn't generally as friendly and warm as the social media put out there. As a mother, I expected a lot from a young doctor, even just a simple introduction or "Good morning, I'm Dr. Gray" to me or my son. He made me feel inferior and insecure as a mother taking my first baby to his first dental appointment. If you can't simply interact with my kid before putting your hands in his mouth, then he should be specializing with something else other than kids. Im sure he's a great dentist, just not too kid friendly, with my first impression. Thank you for the experience. I will definitely not bring my son here again. read more

My husband only slept 4.5 hours after an overnight shift to bring our daughters to a long-scheduled appointment. Apparently Sierra Kids Dentistry feels they are the only people who work. They said we did not have enough time to fill out new patient paperwork even though we were there 10 minutes early. They said they had to verify our insurance before the appointment, basically accusing us of not being able to pay. Great way to treat new patients! read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. The front desk was kind on our 1st visit. Then the dental assistant called my daughters name, as we were the only ones in the waiting room. The assistant never made eye contact with me and as we walked back she took my daughter to the imaging room to do x-Rays. I just stood there and she said I could go back and wait in one of the exam rooms. This was our first time here and I didn't know how to get to the room as she instructed. She then walked me to the exam room, still never introducing her self. I waited and she came back and said "I'm so sorry, you guys are 1st time patients"How did she not look at my daughter's paperwork and notice we've never been seen before? I'm in healthcare and never would I let this occur as patient health is very important and reading charts prior is one of the best way to serve your patient. She brought my daughter back and said the doctor Grey would be in shortly. Once he came in, he never looked me in the eyes as well. DR. Gray had a poor bedside manner and made me as a parent, feel horrible about my daughter's teeth with one cavity, and a tooth that needed to be pulled was all my fault when it's in our family history. She was just 3 years old. I've never had a doctor make me feel that we were just an a nuisance to him. As we walked out the dental assistant and front desk told me she needed to go under anesthesia and that they could have an anesthesiologist come in the house to do the work. They wanted a $300 deposit which I ended up giving them as I was distraught as the experience I just had and felt I really didn't have any other choice as a first time mom. They went over the paperwork. This was during Covid, and if the patient was sick whatsoever, they wouldn't be able to do the surgery as anesthesia was necessary. Then I got a callback that there's no way to have a in-house anesthesiologist come and that they outsource an anesthesiologist at a hospital and now it will take my dental as well as my health care plan to cover the work she needed. If I knew that at the time I would've never gave them the deposit as they assured me they could have a in-house anesthesiologist present. My healthcare deductible would've been over $5000 just to have her go to the hospital to have her teeth fixed. My husband ended up with Covid soon after my daughter as well. All the way up to that point they were super super nice, almost kissing my you know what but as soon as the hospital called them to inform them that my daughter had Covid, and could not go under as the respiratory issue was severe. Sierra Kids Dentistry called me back and said well the anesthesiologist is called off the surgery and we don't know when we can get your daughter back in and I'll give you a call when we do find time for her. I didn't hear from them for over three months and during that time I had found another amazing dentist as he's also an anesthesiologist and did it all in house just a half a mile away. They never refunded my $300 and I would never ever give them as a reference to any other parent. When I talk to my friend she told me that she had a similar experience except her daughter, was screaming in agony, and since my friend started crying due to her daughters well-being, they made her leave the area she could still hear her daughter screaming through the doors. I can't say enough about Sierra Kids Dentistry! Not only is the staff incredibly kind, but the facility is immaculate. They are gentle and fun for our little one. We've had 2 check ups there now and each time we've left thrilled. Dr. Gray takes the time to really know your child and any concerns you have. Recently our rambunctious 18 month old took a spill and we were concerned she might have chipped her tooth. I called and they had me send pictures so they could see without having to bring her in. I expected to hear back within 24-48 hours (especially since I didn't send the picture until almost closing) and Rachel replied AFTER business hours to put me at ease. read more

I was referred to this place from my sister in law as my daughter is tongue tied and Dr Gray claims to be well versed in tongue ties. I am already seeing another dentist for her but was seeking a second opinion, on which I was sorely disappointed in the whole encounter and visit and now see it as a complete waste of time, money and gas. I drive 40 minutes and 22 miles to this place pretty much for no reason at all!!! I specifically called this office for a consultation of a tongue tie, not a single time while making the appointment or while actually being at the dentist was there any mention of a consultation fee. Then about 2 weeks later or so I received a bill in the mail for said consultation, if there was gonna be a charge or my insurance was going to be billed at some point within these two encounters I should have been made aware there was a fee. I have been to other dentists where consultations are completely free so I guess I shouldn't have assumed his was free but I should also have been told there was a fee. On top of being charged without being aware there was gonna be a bill,I went to his office he looked at my daughters tongue tie and asked what my concerns were and I told him her speech is delayed and she wakes up multiple times a night screaming which could be because she stops breathing at night from her tongue tie. He looked and said yeah she is tongue tied but her tonsils seem a little swollen and maybe her waking up is night terrors and because she also has cavities I don't see fixing her tongue tie would make a difference right now, I think you need to see her pediatrician about her tonsils and maybe have them removed and they can fix the tongue tie while she's under anesthesia.In other words he was coming up with a few different things that could cause her problems versus saying I don't really want to fix her tongue tie, it's like he was blaming her issues in other things. Which my theory is if a tongue tie isn't supposed to be there and it can cause problems then get rid of it and if that's not causing all her problems then I will seek further help after the tongue tie is fixed but I know she has a tongue tie so let's start there. He also said I think fixing her tongue tie right now would cause more trauma to her and maybe not fix her speech issue and her sleeping issue. He also said his own son is tongue tied and had speech issues but with school the speech issues have resolved and he has chosen not to revise his tongue tie yet. If Dr Gray even knew a little bit about the trauma and compensation that occurs when a tongue tie is not revised he would never do that to his son he would have it revised to prevent further issues down the road. So this clearly tells me he is not competent in tongue ties and shouldn't really be fixing them or even assessing them if he doesn't really know much about them. Then on top of all this when I received The bill in the mail I spoke to a receptionist at his office and she said she would speak to the dental assistant about this charge and have the assistant call me back and talk to me about it. I waited two more weeks and never heard back from their office so I called yet again and all I get is a lady telling me she's sorry they didn't tell me about the charge but it's gonna be $40. This office is incompetent when it comes to tongue ties and I would never recommend this place to anyone ever!! read more

Wow!!!! I am so impressed by Sierra Kids Dentistry! Today was my daughters first visit to the dentist (she is 1.5yrs), and I am so glad that we chose this practice. The staff, the environment, the cleanliness, and Dr. Gray are all 10/10! They were all very kind and welcoming as soon as we walked through the door. The hygienist was gentle and had a good spirit to help keep my daughter calm. Moana (her favorite movie) was on and she loved getting her very own Moana toothbrush. Both the hygienist and Dr. Gray answered all of my questions and took the time to explain things to me. We left with big smiles on our faces and my daughter brushed her teeth with her new toothbrush the entire drive home. Thank you Sierra Kids for being beyond amazing!
