When I told a friend that I was going to replace the fascia board and paint the house, they strongly suggested that I have the roof inspected. I didn't want any more expenses and did not consider the roof inspection important. At the time, I thought I had another company on board to replace the gutters. I wanted 3 estimates and called 4 roofers for the fascia board replacement. Roofer #1 submitted an expensive bid with a ton of disclaimers and could not keep appointments - no call, no show. Roofer #2 came out, spent 2 hrs measuring and taking pics of the roof, and promised the estimate "in a few days." I never heard from him again even after leaving messages. Roofer #3 came out, spent 2 hrs measuring and taking pics of the roof, and promised the estimate "in a few days" too. I found out later that the elderly gentleman that came out to do the estimate was the younger business owner's dad. I felt so bad for him that I tipped him before he left. 2 days later, when I asked about the estimate, the younger owner told me "I'm working on it, where do I send it?" I gave him my email address and never heard from him again... Roofer #4 was Dependable Roofing. Very professional right from the start. Miguel also spent an hour and a half measuring, inspecting, and taking pics. When he was through, we met and he showed me the pics he'd taken on his tablet. He explained what needed to be done and why. He also showed me pics of a nearby residence that Dependable had also worked on. His point was that the homes where I live were built 30 years ago by the same builder and all had similar problems. In case you're wondering, he did not reveal the address of the other house or the homeowner's name. 2 days later, I had the bid. It was easy to read, made sense, and was reasonable. Miguel knew I wasn't crazy about paying for roof maintenance and that I was mostly interested in the fascia board repair/replacement. He wrote the bid in a way that I could pick and choose the work I wanted to be done. Weeks before Dependable came out, I had another company perform some of the fascia board replacement. It was terrible! Dependable removed the previous work and started in. I knew right away I had hired the right company. Their carpenter, Inez, was awesome! The angles were perfectly cut and matched. The whole crew was great! I was so impressed with their work that I had them do the gutters also. I can't say enough about how impressed I was with Dependable. They're just great people. Always cleaned up before leaving and always very respectful. I was home a lot when they were working. Once in a while, I would take a walk around the house to see how things were going. My questions and/or requests were always met with enthusiasm and respect. They went above and beyond. They even washed a hard-to-reach greenhouse window for me when they were done working around it - and no I did not ask them to do that...! I live in Blackhawk, California, and have a beautiful custom home. We are nearing completion of a large addition,adding approx 1500 square feet to this estate.The roof was exceptionally complicated,with a newly constructed 30 foot high turret needing to match our roof of 30 years ago.I contacted Jose of Dependable Roofing,who responded immediately providing a comprehensive bid for the install of Appalachian Ascent Slate , as well a complicated ,torched down flat roof.His crew arrived exactly as he said they would,providing water-proofing ahead of incoming fall rains.His crew performed in the most perfect manor possible,hand-cutting each slate of the very complex 30 foot tall 8 sided turret .Three quarters of the roof construction was Slate and one fourth was a complicated flat torched -down roof for our newly constructed addition.I would never think of another company that could have performed as efficiently and precisely and will only have Jose and his crew at Dependable Roofing perform all roofing needs both residential as well as commercial in my future roofing needs.I have a commercial building nearby with a flat roof and Jose will be in charge of that project in the spring. We needed to replace the whole roof. Not because all of it was in bad repair. Instead, we had leaks where the solar heating system was located, we had leaks near the chimneys and past leaks in one of the valleys. So replace the entire roof was the decision. Called five companies. Each gave good bids, three were relatively close and two were outside our budget. After discussing the differences between the bids and looking at the roofs that each had installed, we chose Dependable. What a great choice it was! First the estimated time on the roof for all repairs was about 7 days. Done in five. Secondly, they leveled the garage and living room ridge lines by shimming the underlayment to become level across the ridge. These were requested repairs the other roofing companies did not comment on, other than to say don't worry - no one will notice. Now no one will comment because the ridges are perfect. Plus, they leveled another area that needed it but we did not recognize it. Finally, all the work was finished early, touch up paint was required and not charged for, and Dependable provided one of their roofing staff to help instal the new solar heating system to be sure the anchors would not leak again.
