We were taking backroads and ended up in Springfield. Charming historic area w beautiful old homes. We happened upon the Depot Grill for lunch. Ordered a bowl of chile and french fries- both were perfectly seasoned, and good portion sizes, hit the spot. My companion had Reuben without the bun and garlic mashed potatoes. The corn beef was moist and perfectly cooked. The 'tatos were thick. Definitely a meal to stick to the ribs. The staff were attentive, efficient and on point. Have to easily recommend this one. My kids and I decided to try this place while in Springfield right around dinner time, and I'm so glad we did! We beat the dinner rush, which was very nice, the staff were all friendly and helpful, and the food was tasty. The menu is pretty large, and pretty much everything sounds good. I'm looking forward to going back to try more things! I had the club sandwich, and the bacon was perfectly crispy. That's a must in my book! This place is incredible! Hidden gem in Springfield. I had the Rack of Lamb and my husband had the Steak Tails. The mustard mint sauce with my lamb was homemade and gourmet. We both comment several times to each other how wonderful our meals were. It is a rare fine to find a meal like this in a restaurant. The owner came by to check on us and our server was very attentive. We will make this a regular stop now that we have moved close by. Great date night! read more

Great staff and a good beer selection. For me that's plenty, but I guess their are those that require more detail. Fine. Exposed brick and some cool old rail road memorabilia make it a pleasant place to park your bones while the polite and youthful staff cater to your alcoholic and nutritional needs. I had the chicken hobo wrap with bourbon mushrooms on the side. All good stuff. The mushrooms could use a tad more bourbon or something to move them from good to great. The same goes for the wrap, it was good but I can't help but feel if the chef push it just a tad more it would be great. Long and short of it; stop by, I'm not joking the staff is great, same service I have received at a 4 star high end restaurant. The food is good and the prices are great! I had a craft beer, a wrap, and a side for about ten bucks!! So go, have a drink and watch the train roll by the back door as you eat some good food for a great price! read more

Definitely the best place for dinner in Springfield. We love the Duck Quasadilla. They have GREAT Sweet potatoe fries. We always take our out of town guest there, can't get enough!! We came to Nashville for a girls getaway. Today was miserable with continuous rain. We decided to venture out for some lunch. What luck we had to find this awesome spot! It sits alone so if your not a local I don't think a tourist would ever find it. My friend ordered the chicken ceaser wrap and My other friend and myself ordered the chili and a grilled cheese. It was so tasty and the price is definitely right. We ate half and saved the other half for tonight. Perfect comfort during this yucky weather. read more

We were fortunate to have a short wait, but you should expect a line. This place is busy for a reason. The menu is diverse without being overwhelming. Their salads are more than just lettuce, and their dressings are great. The bourbon mushrooms are fantastic. The Texas tails are slightly dry, but tender and flavorful. The ribs have a nice bark and fell off the bone. The creamed spinache is thick with cheese, which isn't the best mouth feel but the taste made up for it. Price is reasonable but not cheap, and the servers are attentive. Cook times are a little long, but the dishes were all hot when they came out. read more

I would say this is a go-to for Springfield but I did not think it was worth the wait or the cost. Although very nicely decorated, the tables were tightly packed together making everyone's conversation part of the next table's which I found very uncomfortable. The food was good with one or two items being very good, but overall I thought it did not warrant the cost for food comparable to Cheddar, O'Charley's, or Cracker Barrell. We were in Springfield so my wife could check out a fabric shop. I noticed that the Depot Bar and Grill was well rated on Yelp, and it was just a few blocks away from the fabric shop, so we decided to give it a try. We got there after the lunch rush, so we pretty much had our choice of seating. When I asked about their beer selection, our waiter told us they has 29 beers. I said I liked IPAs, he said they had two to select from. I was not expecting that. Their daily special was pork tenderloin on ciabatta bread. With the mango salsa, it made an awesome (but very messy) sandwich. My wife had the Italian steak sandwich. She liked the sandwich a lot, but thought the au jus was too spicy for Italian. read more

I don't give reviews on Restaraunt 's, but The Depot Bar and Grill deserves to be known for its greatness. My wife, Elizabeth, and I were heading to Springfield to look at some stuff for the house and decided to head to The Depot for some dinner. I'd heard so many great things about the place that I figured it was time to try it out. We ordered a couple salads, soup, and a Ruben sandwich with sweet potato fries. Beth loves Ruben sandwiches, but I haven't ever had one that I liked. So I usually try to steer clear of them, but Beth eventually swayed me to order it. First off, the salads were really fresh and flavorful. They were just simple house salads, but they definitely made them an experience in themselves. Their homemade ranch dressing is definitely a must try. The sweet potato fries were made great(like any would be), but their butter-cinnamon-sugar dip made my eyes pop with my mouth gaping in disbelief. It's probably really simple to make, but I've never heard of it or tasted it. The Vegetable beef soup was above average for sure. It tasted, for the most part, like most I've tried. But it had its own great zing that they added to it. I really enjoyed it. The Ruben sandwich was a monster sandwich if I've ever seen one. It was huge and it looked delicious(to my surprise). It tasted absolutely head and shoulders above any Ruben sandwich I'd ever tried. It was amazing to say the least. I actually was day-dreaming of eating it again after I walked away from the table. The bill wasn't too shabby either. For us to eat(and we had leftovers) we only spent $30, including tip! So if you're in Springfield and looking for something good to eat, then you have to try The Depot Bar and Grill. read more

My husband and I have been regulars for a while now. The food has always been very good, consistent and the location is excellent. We always tip very well, as we value service (even over food) and in return, only expect good service with a smile, particularly from a bartender! However, one female bartender is extremely unfriendly and simply can't contain her frustration at busy times. We have previously overlooked the lack of friendliness of this particular bartender tonight due to the food quality and convenience of location. However, after our visit tonight, we will not return. The female bartender tonight gave my husband an overly frosted glass for his beer (ice was literally sliding off) so much so that he, the bartender herself, and an unknown male patron beside us made a comment about it!!! My husband tried to wipe/dry the glass off. Upon his "attempted" first drink, It slipped out of his hand spilling his beer. She looked and responded so perturbed that it was shocking, albeit he was apologizing for a hazard she created. Service and attitude was even worse afterwards. My husband subsequently joked "he was being punished" regarding service. We also learned about today's "specials" from other customers as the bartender never shared the specials with us. Upon paying the ticket, she finally "tried to be nice." We have previously overlooked this bartender's unfriendly demeanor (even upon seeing her when obtaining our takeout) and have previously always tipped her very well. I suppose her attitude is overlooked and tolerated due to the lack of any competition in the area. Such a shame and extremely disappointing! Other bartenders, such as Olivia, have always been great. read more

Awesome little place in an old railroad depot. Servers were very friendly and make you feel right at home. Quiet atmosphere where you can talk. Food was excellent. The chicken egg rolls are delicious. My kids had the chix tenders and my wife had the stirfry with shrimp. I had the pecan crusted trout and everyrhing was great. The kids tenders are hand breaded and fried fresh, delicious. The service was the best I have had at any restaurant. There menu has a bit of everything for anyone. I highly recommend comming here. A few friends and I stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. There was no wait and the food was amazing. We started with the spinach dip, it was great! The chips were hot and the dip was really good! I ordered the fish sandwich which is probably about a foot long! Homemade tarter sauce for the fish and the melted cinnamon butter to go with the sweet potato fries made the meal. We all ordered sweet potato fries as our side & they were great. One friend got the black bean burger & it was huge! Service was great too! Our waiter was on top of it! We all had a refill glass before our cups were half empty! I cannot say enough great things about this place! The prices are great too considering the amount of food you get! You definitely get your moneys worth here! Stopped in here with some friends last week after a round of golf in Springfield and looking for a good steak. It came highly recommended from friends in Pleasent View so I had high expectations going in, and was not disappointed. I order the sirloin which was cooked absolutely perfectly. The sides were also fantastic -- dare I say almost better than the entree! My one complaint would be the house wine -- it was definitely not what I would have paired a steak with; but hey... win some and lose some. The great service made up for it. A group of 7 of my family and friends celebrated mt birthday there a couple of weeks ago and I had to give high-fives to this little gem in Springfield, TN. Everyone in the place was super nice and accommodating to us. I'd chosen the place based on a friend's photo post of their shrimp and grits. I'm a major shrimp and grits fan, but think there must be some art to making it delicious. And this did not disappoint. We started with the smoked salmon appetizer dip and it was to die for and then the main event. Among the table, we ordered the steak, shrimp and grits, ahi tuna, and a chicken dish as well. I tried all and they were all wonderful, but the shrimp and grits was definitely my stand out. All well prepared and quickly! Service was excellent as wel. Brad was our server and he was so intuitive about splitting the check appropriately when we couldn't even decide how to split it up. He was just a sweetheart. I'd actually ask for him if and when I return there. one suggestion for the restaurant though. Heavy chairs with metal tipped legs on concrete.... SO loud. It may just be my pet peeve, but it's really hard to move them without this grating, terrible noise. Try some felt on the tips ~ please. I wish every restaurant would do so. read more

My wife and I tried this place a few weeks ago after it was recommended to us by locals. We parked, walked in and waited in the seated waiting area while waiting for a table. Finally after a 7 or 8 minute wait we were shown to our table. At that time, almost as if on queue, a train comes lumbering by on the tracks right next to the restaurant. Nice! Looking over the menu, it is heavily in favor of meat eaters. There was one or two items for vegetarians and we each decided to try the Fettuccine Alfredo. Very delicious and satisfying, but a bit on the expensive side. Keep in mind you are paying for the upscale ambience of a restaurant located next to the railroad tracks with trains rolling by from time to time. Service was quick, pleasant and courteous. The wait time on the meal was on par with the dishes ordered. I would give this place 5 stars if there were more vegetarian options on the menu. read more
