When you're the only person who looks like you in the place and you're surrounded by brown people speaking other languages, you've likely found an authentic place with great food. Ittadi was definitely that place. They have a huge buffet of food, TONS of options, but you can also tell the food is fresh. And the place was so busy that you know the food didn't sit long and was refreshed often. We tried the coconut samosa, which was large in size. It was the perfect combo of savory and sweet. We also had the egg chop, which is a hard boiled egg covered in spicy mashed potatoes and fried in a crispy breadcrumb coating. It was super spicy (in a good way) and delish. It came with a side of onions and greenery. We also had the haleem, which is a comfort dish, made of lentils. It was so warm and filling. Absolutely delicious. The employees/owners were so kind. They were really invested in us liking our food. When we didn't eat everything, they were concerned, but we told them we were on a food crawl and had to save space, otherwise we would have devoured everything. Again, this was my favorite place of the whole crawl, and I would make the trek back over to Queens just for this food.

I ordered the Doi Fuchka ($7), which comes as crispy, hollow puri shells stuffed with a savory mashed potato and chickpea mixture. The difference in the doi is that it is topped with a yogurt to balance the spice for a creamier texture. I liked this a lot, especially with the tamarind sauce too (though this got a bit messy). This is nothing like I've ever tasted with so many different textures going on. It hits you with spicy, sweet, savory, crunchy, creamy, chewy and everything all at once. It comes with 8 pieces, which is perfect to share with 2-3 people. Definitely something to check out!

It had really good taste, bone pieces were large. I also got a mango lassi, but it was thin, almost seemed watery to me. Few staff members we interacted with were friendly. One of them told us upfront parathas were not ready and would take time if we had ordered.

My fellow Bengali friends were really happy to see this and we liked the food. Yup, we liked it. As it was more like home food and not fancy Bengali restaurant type. Everything was bringing memories from Kolkata homes. And it is not even expensive. Every item was from $4-$12. We four were there and it was $72 only and we had 6-7 dishes. Only bad thing is that from Jersey City to Queens, we had to change 2 paths, so one person it is $11 for both ways. So we spent $44 to come here and have this food. Was it worth it? I would say NO. but yes, once in while you can come.

It's not exactly a destination spot, but serves the neighborhood well as a locals only type establishment. Like many of the shops along 37th, the space is super tight with an old school exterior look. This is more of a takeout joint than anything, but I imagine coming in for some tea and a snack from the display is doable on a solo adventure. I haven't used the bathrooms yet and given the relatively grimy interior, I'm not sure I would want to. I initially came for the sweets and ended up getting their infamous fuchka and wasn't disappointed. They also serve a halfway decent bortha, which I prefer with potato over the shrimp and tomato. I had tried their beef teheri and the boneless version of their beef kalovuna and give it a thumbs up. The sweets (especially their burfi) were disappointing for how dry they were (both the coconut and gazar were like chalk). Star wise, I'd have to give them a 4 for the food I've tried, but the overall 3 is for the lackluster service. Despite having come here a number of times, it's never been the warmest of encounters. The prices are pretty decent and the flow of the crowd is steady throughout the week. While they take CC, cash is always king.

This is strictly a take out place. The food is delicious, specially the chicken kababs. Their Haleem and Nihari also is probably the best in the area. The first time, I just walked in by accident just to see what this place was. After having a conversation with their main chef, he tempted me to try their Haleem as a taste test and the rest is history. From there on, whenever I am in Jackson heights, I pick up food from here. The cuisine and style is mostly from Karachi, the spice level is a bit on the higher side, but if you really want to exercise your taste buds, this is the place to go. Downside: Parking is tough in that neighborhood as it is so crowded. You may have to circle around to find parking at a bit distant.

You can also select a la crate items from their buffet menu like kebabs, tandoor chicken etc. We ordered some naan, kebabs, haleem, and mango lassi. We loved the kebabs, naan and pakoras. We couldn't finish everything so we ended up taking most of it home. The service here was great throughout from everyone there especially as they were fasting as well. They always made sure we had everything from utensils and fresh toppings for the haleem. I would definitely come back here to support this business!

food is not good and to expensive for that part of town, and that kind of food. even nan are more expensive than all other restaurant around them , and not good -to thin ..the worst part is not the food but the nepali girls team waitress gang at night ,who use lots of curse words in their nepali languages ,which they think no one understand ,are very rude ,not friendly and steal money from the tables and provide no service at all.. since they steal a table or 2 cash bills of the table they really don't care of earning good tips by serving customers .. you have to call them like 5 times to get there attention ..the food is suppose to be all halal ,but majority of people working in the kitchen are Spanish and in the dining room are nepali women ,weird .. they don't have a waiter for some reason only female nepali waitress in a pa kaistani restaurant ..after the boss leaves the night time nepali waitress don't provide service and steal money ,and don't care about customers and tips ...they to busy cleaning the plates with there dirty hands and the same dirty rag they use to wipe the tables off with, and the counter top with top ..I guess the boss only like nepali women working there at night no men and no other ethnicity women men work in the dinning room ,and the food is all halal..so weird ! Did I mention the food sucks, except, for one or 2 decent dishes ,most of the stuff is sitting there for weeks in the cold sections , all grilled stuff is half precook and store to recook sitting and drying out there for weeks and tastes like carp , and is to expensive !the only good thing about the restaurant is the new 70 inches tv which they have on same channel everytime you go there and extra loud ,so your ears hurt after you leave ..the old guy on the register, uses his hands with no gloves on his hands , or tongs to move and fix the sweets in the sweet section , after he coughs and sneezes in his hands , late at night and when I asked him why he don't use gloves , his reply was " in old days they used to use hands to touch and serve sweets and food in Pakistan back in his time " .still out of all things bad about the restaurant would be, the nepali women working at night ,why don't they hire a man waiter for a change who would serve better or anyone else .. read more

I went to dera restaurant at Jackson heights on 5th July at 9pm for take out order I was waiting long to order I asked the lady for the order she wasn't responding n she was SUPER RUDE n ARROGANT n she was Nepali n her name was sanam. My god what kind of attitude she had. She was horrible I asked her please can u take my order she didn't respond because she was busy n enjoying her chat with her friend in Nepali language n then I told her excuse me can u take my order n then she said what it is my problem rather telling me please wait or I'm busy chatting. She was giving me angry looks n then I got mad on her n told her excuse me what ru up to. Ur being rude n not helping me for my order. Even I told to guy who was at the counter n he was very helpful n gentleman n very kind. He took my order n even I told him about this rude behavior staff name sanam. Food is OK and fresh. Only reason I am giving 3 stars because they charge fee if you pay with credit card. So if your bill is $40 and you pay cash, then you pay only $40 but if you give them Credit Card, they will tell you that they charge tax. So you will pay $43 and your receipt will say $3 S&H. Now I told them them basically you are saying "you don't charge tax when you get cash from the guests"? In other words IRS has to be informed that this place avoiding collecting taxes if someone pays cash. I have already informed IRS and they should expect a surprise visit from Uncle Sam soon. Why don't they just say the Visa/MasterCard/AMX fees charged by Employee Bank, Guests has to pay that fee if they want to use credit cards, which is wrong business. read more

Very typical Pakistani sit-down place that's very close to the Roosevelt Ave - Jackson Heights subway station. (I ride here from Manhattan).The place might look a bit unclean, but boy is the food good ! Focus on the meats, and you wont go wrong here. I had the chicken biryani and the mutton curry, Like most Pakistani places, they serve a green yogurt based sauce that you should not miss. Same owner Same management same chef with a difference in the decor only. The restaurant was closed by the health department by hidden hygienic and health issues. Be careful before placing an order i personally had a bad experience, i ate palak paneer and got sick! not complaining to 311 because they are from the community and already have been punished but they should take care of these things, every bodies not like me who can tolerate these things. decor is nice, service is slow even with many employees. read more

Great Authentic Pakistani food. Where else are you going to get Tori Ghosht as good as them not to mention it's very rare people have tori dishes in nowadays pakistani restaurant. The roti's are always fresh. I just wish there was more stuff to choose from. The only thing I give one star is not food or service because when I go to a restaurant like this I don't expect a five star treatment but there was a fight between the owner and a customer I had my kids there and at least the owner of the restaurant should understand that the language he was speaking was inappropriate. Indian Buffets have mostly disappeared, so we were thrilled to hear Delhi Heights offers both lunch & dinner buffets, 6 days a week: Fri-Wed; (they're closed on Thursdays)! Lunch Buffet ($14.99) 12-4pm Dinner Buffet ($19.99) 6-9pm ** Note that the Lunch Buffet isn't ready until around 12:30, even though doors open at Noon. See my photos for a list of items in their lunch and dinner buffets. We went on a Sunday but not everything on the list was available. But still, there was plenty of food. It would have been nice to try the two missing dishes (soup and Palak Paneer) but there was more than enough food offered. Every item in the buffet was fantastic. The surprisingly delicious dish was the Daal! Such a simple dish but very flavorful; especially over white rice. They make the Butter Naan fresh and will bring it to your table (not at the buffet table). I've never had their Nepalese food and only have had their Indian food, so can't speak about the Nepalese food. ***In celebration of their 17th Anniversary, they are now offering a 15% discount for Dine-in and Takeout orders from their regular menu (but not valid for the buffets). I especially enjoyed their butter chicken. The sauce was creamy so it coded the rice nicely. As for their butter chicken, it was so tender and moist and flavored perfectly. I also enjoy their dal. Their dal was not runny and it had a nice hint of spice which also paired well with the rice and roti. As for their rice pudding, it was refreshing. I would prefer if the rice was softer but I guess that's a matter of preference but the rose water and sweetness was perfect. It wasn't too sweet or overpowering with fragrants. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience and I'm already looking forward to going back here again in the near future.

The channa masala was the star of the show, and so were the meats. Enjoy the food here, and then brag about how you can handle any kind of spice afterwards. We'll be back.

The restaurant is unassuming, both outside and inside, but the food is so tasty and the service is fantastic. We shared the pork fry, mixed chow mein, fried beef momos, chicken jhol momos, and local chicken thali. Everything was so tasty and delicious. They also give you refills on the thali, which is incredible given the fact that the portions here are generous to begin with. Highly recommend!

This is what I call a "Dhaba" type of spot, which you will find in Pakistan select areas that truly give you home cook style feeling. The people working here are very friendly :) They take care of you and once you become a regular they will know exactly what you want and set it up and sometimes even get free dessert :) which I Never say No to lol I highly recommend this spot too especially those who have not tried their Biryani. We saw quite a few people sitting in a table and chatting, though there was no food in front of them. This reminded us of India where people chat for hours. The food in Nabanno is prepared, like in a buffet, but you have to order individual items. We ordered some pulao, potato fry, potato bittergourd fry (aloo uchhe bhaja), fish curry, mutton curry, and some sweets. They gave us some salad for free. The food was pretty good and plentiful. The service was pretty good. The cost was amazingly low, to the extent that I thought they missed some item when we saw the bill. Overall, it was a nice experience. We would go back there if we go to that area again.

The place is clean. I didn't get any stomachache after so I'll say it's clean. We had chicken Biryani, lamb or mutton Biryani, samosa, some vegetables dishes I don't know the names. Overall good flavors. Most are spicy.
